Syrup awoke to the warmth of the carpet, which invaded all of his negative thoughts, wrapping like a blanket around him. He stayed curled up to the warmth, refusing to move from his safe space. He could smell the warm smell of pancakes being made, though he'd rather not eat it he sure could appreciate the wonderful smell.

He couldn't ever remember a time when his entire being was calm, when he had absolutely no worry or paranoia, only relaxation invading his senses.

Unfortunately, it didn't last forever as he heard the knock on the door, him opening his eyes quickly and getting up.

"HELLO SYRUP! MAY I COME IN?"

He slowly calmed realizing who it was, and remembering he wasn't at his lord's place. "Um.. sure, come on in." The tall skeleton opened the door, holding a plate of pancakes, and a glass of water.

"GOOD MORNING SYRUP! I BROUGHT YOU BREAKFAST!" Syrup felt his soul clench, the idea of eating the super sugary substance nearly bringing him to his knees. "S, Sorry I... I'm uh not hungry-" He said, hiding his stutter by taking his time in between words. He couldn't help but feel bad at Rus' slight disappointment.

"Oh... WELL UM, THAT'S ALRIGHT." Rus only handed him the water, which Syrup appreciated taking small sips, his throat desperately coating itself in the cool liquid. He can't remember the last time he drank clean water...

Rus saw his expression change, worry filling his head that he hid with a smile. Why would his new friend, be surprised at simply clean water...? Even when he and his brother was on the streets, it was still easy to get fresh water and bread.

Rus wasn't as innocent as he seemed, he could tell Syrup had not had a kind life before meeting him. The scars were horrid, the hole in his head he couldn't help but look at every now and then. He was just confused... not only was he and his brother supposed to be the only skeletons left, but who could've... ever hurt someone like this...?

He knew not all monsters were as kind as the ones he knew, but the idea someone was capable of whatever Syrup went through, well honestly it shocked and angered him. But, unlike others Rus could hide those emotions, and focus on what matters.

Making sure Syrup was as comfortable and happy here as he possibly could be was his main priority. Once he had finished the water, Rus kindly asked if he was still thirsty. Satisfied by his head shake, he walked out.

"I MUST BE HEADING TO WORK, S- OR WELL, CLASSIC I SUPPOSE- WILL BE GOING SHOPPING WITH YOU! YOU'LL NEED MORE CLOTHES AND OTHER PERSONAL ITEMS IF YOU'LL BE STAYING HERE FOR A BIT AFTER ALL!" Syrup barely hid his shock.

Shopping... for him?- He looked at his jacket. 'I can't take it off. He... He'd give me the worst punishment possible-'

"I-I, um, don't need, more clothes-" Rus confusedly looked to him. "HUH? OF COURSE YOU DO! YOUR OUTFIT IS WELL, DIRTY, AND NOT SNOW PROOF!"

Syrup tried to wrack his brain for an excuse, until Classic walked in. "My bro's right, don't worry about cost, we have enough to get you what you need." Classic assured, assuming the fact that he was worried they were using money they needed on him was why he didn't want to go. Syrup, now realizing he was out of excuses, gave in slowly nodding.

He'd have to think of a reason or way to prevent the clothes from getting dirty later... for now he'd play along. They all walked downstairs, saying bye to Rus as he left for his sentry job. "Sure your not hungry bud?" The blue skele said, offering the plate one more time before he put it in the fridge. Syrup shook his head no, though lightly concerning Classic he still just put it away for later. 'Might not like pancakes, maybe more of a health nut?' Classic thought, thinking of trying again with a vegetable stir-fry for dinner.

He grabbed his wallet, making sure Syrup was ready to go. He then offered his hand.

"Let's take a shortcut." Very slowly he took it, as they teleported away to the market.

Small spiders skittered across the diner ground, giving customer's pastry's, usually infused with alcohol, and savory baked items. A large spider sat at the bar, her fingernails tapping on the cherry wood counter. She heard the door open, everyone quickly looking to the new comer.

The large spider, Muffet's, nails couldn't help but dig into the wood, recognizing who it was right away.

Sans, Alphys' previous right hand man, now the Captain with Alphys under his command.

She absolutely despised the man, with his treatment of his own brother... She adored Papyrus, he was such a sweetheart, though he hid it well from others. She saw him as her own son, he got along well with the spiders, and he introduced her to Temmie, who was currently living with her, making her days brighter.

She knew well just how much he had sacrificed to raise Sans as well as he could... and this was how he repaid him.

The Captain walked towards the counter, his heels clicking along the tile as everyone bowed and stayed well out of his way. She was glad her spider's knew well to stay away at least, she knew he wouldn't hesitate to squish them under his high heeled boot.

"GOOD AFTERNOON MS. MUFFET." He said formally, Muffet biting back the insult on her tounge. "Good afternoon Captain Sans. What do we owe the pleasure to?"

He asked for a glass of wine, her tempted to pour it over his outfit but only nodded and got him what he wished. He formally took it with a thank you, sipping on the drink.

"QUITE SATISFACTORY. I DO HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU THOUGH." Muffet bit back a retort. "Yes Captain?" "WHERE IS MY TOY."

Her look turned to menace. "You know well even if I did know where he was, I would never tell you." He put down his glass. "HIDING A SLAVE IS A FEDERAL OFFENSE MUFFET, YOU MIGHT WANT TO TELL ME THE TRUTH."

The other customer's gasped as she slammed her fist on the table. "I do not take kindly to THREATS CAPTAIN. I don't have him, NOR do I know where he is. Though I hope well wherever he is, you never find him."

Sans summoned a blaster, ready to teach her a lesson. A web strung it up before anything could be done.

"You should know CAPTAIN, magic fighting in stores, restaurants, and other essential facilities can get you in quite large trouble. I doubt you'd like to explain to the Queen that cause of your ego, you broke one of the only rules of the underground." The mention of the Queen sent shiver's down everyone's spine, even the fearless skeleton. He scoffed, unsummoning his blaster.

She unsummoned her webs as well, crossing her arms with a glare. "I think you have FAR overstayed your welcome. I'd suggest you leave." Though it was clear he wished to retort, he stepped away from the counter heading to the door.

Before he left, he said one final warning.

"IF I FIND OUT YOUR LYING ABOUT MY TOY... NOT EVEN THE LAW WILL BE ABLE TO SAVE YOU."

He stepped out, the door slamming behind him. She noticed everyone staring. "Show's over, get back to your food and drinks!" Everyone slowly returned to their conversations, not wiahing to be kicked out.

She stepped out back, slowly putting her head in her hands. '... Please... stay safe dear. You deserve it... you deserve to finally be away from that monster.'

Syrup couldn't deny feeling very overwhelmed as they stepped into the clothing store, the clothing covered in all kinds of colors, most bright calming ones he hadn't seen anywhere but in pictures. The clothing had so many different styles, unlike the normal intimating and edgy style he was so used to. Classic looked at his look of silent awe, though smiling was secretly concerned. It seemed like he'd never been in a clothing store almost-

'Which AU is he from?' He couldn't help but wonder as they travelled into the store, looking through the shelves for some possible candidates. He noticed trying to get Syrup to pick out what he wanted was pretty hard, as if other's asking his opinion wasn't common.

'... Just what did he go through in his AU...?' He eventually got him to open up in his likes, trying out with buying him new gloves. "How about you try on this pair?" Classic suggested, showing the pair of dark forest green and black gradient gloves. Syrup looked at them, surprised at the green. He slowly nodded, taking off his old pair to do so.

Classic nearly gasped seeing the state of his hands.

On his left, his thumb seemed to have been cut off, his hand also covered in spiderweb cracks, almost like it had been stomped on... his right had his ring finger gone, and his pinky half gone, while his hand seemed to have been stabbed straight through. The most worrying thing, they looked like they had never been disinfected nor healed.

Syrup simply put on the new gloves, surprised they were so warm and fit so perfectly. He looked to Classic, growing anxious seeing his expression. "... W.. What's wrong...?"

Classic looked at his hands, hiding his anger. "... Your hands... Is that why you wear gloves?"

Syrup grew a bit tense, but quietly nodded. "... Let's talk about it when we get back ok? Let's, continue with our shopping."

Syrup followed the other skele, spoiled not even the tip of the emotions he felt at all the things Classic was giving him. He couldn't remember the last time anyone bought something for him... Now here this skeleton that only knew him for two days giving him a full blown wardrobe, cleaning things, and even sewing supplies! They had about 5 bags full of things when they returned to the house, putting it all into the room Syrup was staying in.

"Syrup, would you mind getting into the bathroom? We need to try on your clothes so we know they fit." 'Ah shit-' He grew anxious, then realizing he could just wrap himself in old fabrics, it'd keep the new clothes clean. He slowly nodded, them walking into the bathroom. Classic set down the clothes, and softly shut the door behind Syrup. He slowly and carefully tried taking off his jacket to not get bone marrow nor other, frozen liquids on the floor, getting the fabric to the point he could wrap it around him.

... Then he heard the door open.

"Sorry realized you probably wanna get a shower, brought ya a tow-"

Classic gasped in horror, dropping it covering his mouth, feeling he was gonna be sick. Syrup slowly looked towards him, freezing in fear.

It was silent... until Classic shakingly spoke

"Who... who, d-d-did this to you...?"
