**CHAPTER ONE **
**Delilah**
"You're going to miss your plane honey, hurry up", granma hurriedly shoves her way through the crowd of people, who don't seem to mind since she was seen as an 'old lady". And to be honest for a 65 year old woman, she was much more in-shape than I am.
Panting heavily, I try my best to keep up with gran pulling my pink roller luggage case that squeaks as I pull it across the tiles of the busy airpor trying to avoid hitting anyone with it.
"We're almost there sweety", gran assures and I let out a sigh of relief, wiping off the thin layer of sweat that formed on my forehead.
"Delilah Rose", I blurt showing my passport to the boarding guards.
"Straight through to the corridor and make a right, there you shall be boarding your plane" a man instructs. With a smile, I read on his name-tag, Jackson.
"Thank you, Jackson", I smile and it soon fades as I glance over to gran who stares at me with tears in her eyes.
"My little Delilah is all grown up", she embraces me in a very tight hug planting a kiss to my forehead. "Be safe Dee, and promise you will give me a call as soon as your flight arrives in New-York"
"Don't worry gran I promise", I assure her trying to hold back my tears.
"Be sure to tell me all about your college life", she grins and my reality starts to sinks in...
My dream of attending the biggest art Academy in NYC is finally coming true.
Suddenly someone clears their throat taking me out of my thoughts, "I'm sorry to interrupt you miss, but your plane is ready to be boarded".
"Go on honey, have fun and just remember don't do anything I wouldn't do in collage", gran squeezes all the life out of me, again.
"That's the problem gran, what wouldn't you do?", I joke and she lets out a small laugh. It's true, from the stories gran told me, she was never the one to turn down a party. It's also the same story of how she met grandpa Joe.
"Especially no boys!", she teases with a sternly pointed finger.
"I'll miss you so much Delilah, but you better get a move on", she frowns wiping a tear and I embrace her in one last tight hug.
"I'll miss you too gran", I soon pick up my luggage and I slowly walk through the passage way after one final wave goodbye.
"Welcome have a safe and comfortable flight miss", the flight attendants greets. I smile and release a heavy sigh taking my seat. I'm so glad I get the window view.
"To New beginnings", I think to myself with excitement and nervousness bubbling inside me.
Looking at the time on my watch, I have eight hours before reaching NYC. The best part was that it was my first time on a plane......and I am afraid of heights. And not to mention that I'm flying by myself. Fun isn't it?
Searching through my bag I'm relieved I remembered to pack my sleeping pills for the flight. Gran said to take one before the flight took off so I didn't have to feel to the turbulents and best for my anxiety of heights.
Looking out the window, my eyes begin to feel heavy and drowsiness takes over me, falling into a deep peaceful sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Miss?, Miss?", a small tiny voice fills my ears with a gentle shake.
"Excuse me miss?", the voice speaks again, but this time sounding more clear.
"I'm up, I'm up granma", I say sleepily rubbing my eyes with the back of my plams from the surprisingly bright light blinding me. A sad wave passed through me seeing the blonde flight attendant, instantly missing my gran, which I've lived with my whole life.
"The plane has landed safely miss, welcome to New-York", the flight attendant from earlier welcomes me sweetly and my eyes widen with a smile on my face.
"I'm in New-York", I mutter with my smile widening. "I'm. in New-York", this time sounding more excited as I exit the plane holding my pink roller case tightly in my hand, inhaling the fresh New-York air.
Following the crowd of people that got off the flight, I stroll along the airport and my eyes fall on a man wearing a black tuxedo, holding a white board with my name printed on it.
" Hi I'm Delilah Rose", I introduce extending a hand and he firmly takes my hand in quick handshake with a smile introducing himself as Bruce. "Welcome to New-York", Bruce says with a smile handing me a red rose.
Taking me by surprise I kindly accepted the rose with a smile, "Thank you Bruce", I say with a wide smile stuck to my face as he takes off his hat was a way to say ' my pleasure'.
Carefully he picks up my luggage and I follow him to the bright yellow cab.
We drive in silence as we past the tall buildings, my eyes widening as we drove through the city. 'The city that never sleeps' I've been told.
"Beautiful sight isn't it?", Bruce asks knocking me out of my thoughts filled with astonishment.
"Yea, I think I'm ganna like it here" my eyes trails along the long Starbucks lines. Must be one heck of delicious coffee.
Slowly the taxi came to a stop as Bruce walked over to my side opening my door. "Here we are miss", he says and I exit the car.
"The art college of NYC", Bruce smiles handing me my luggage.
My body fills with excitement as I practially stare at my future. Ready to be a student. A small squel escapes my lips.
"Have a good day miss", Bruce nods getting back into the car.
"Wait, I haven't paid you yet", I say taking out my purse.
"No need miss, your lift was already paid for, by Linda Rose", he says nonchalant.
"Oh that's my gran", I smile amd wave as Bruce takes off. Which reminds me I should give gran a call.
So here I stood, with a pink luggage bag in my hand. I release one long shakey breathe with a wide smile on my face.
"You can do this!", I encourage myself as I enter the building, guiding me to my future.
Welcome to NYC Arts and Design university.
