Chapter #6: Conversing

Ruhana and Samrat shake hands with their long-time best friend, Vivaan Jain. They’re long-time friends and will be working together. Amidst this, a few days pass by. Samrat is still oblivious to his feelings for Ruhana while the lady is still in hope that he will realise his feelings. It’s pretty much the season of weddings and Ruhana is busy launching her new fashion ranges. Vivaan and Samrat are a part of it, she wants them or not. But she’s glad to have the two men around her. Having Samrat nearby rejuvenates her with more positivity while Vivaan keeps her grounded, giving her new ideas for her work.

The lady is truly blessed.

Approx 15 days pass by. Ruhana is at her home. She’s got free from her orders and her fashion shows. There’s a long weekend ahead and so she is relaxed at the moment. She’s chilling in the hall room and having coffee. She’s checking her emails and cutting off the work from her list. As her gaze falls on the date, she realises that it’s Samrat’s birthday on Sunday. Her eyes shine with joy at the mere realisation.

She’s planned to tell him her feelings on his birthday and know his feelings for herself. Well, she knows that he’s still unknown of his own feelings. She still wants to tell him that she loves him even if he can’t love her back. A small smile makes its way to her lips as she plans his birthday. Her thoughts are broken when her phone rings. It’s Samrat on the call. A smile makes its way on her lips as his deep voice falls into her ears.

“Hey, Ruu! Are you home?” Samrat asks.

“Yes, Sammie. I am home. But Vivs is not joining us today. Where are you?” Ruhana asks over the call.

“I am in the office. I thought you’d be free by now.” Samrat says.

“You can come over, Sammie. I am waiting.” She says, knowing that he might want to discuss something with her which is why he’s calling her.

He nods curtly and hums in agreement before disconnecting the call. Ruhana sighs deeply. She jumps on her toes and moves into the kitchen. She wants to treat him again, they’ll be meeting after some 15-20 days approximately. And she wants to make it special.

It’s special for her, after all. Samrat is special.

*****
An hour later, Ruhana is in the kitchen. A sweet aroma is spread in the air. She’s cooking cheese pasta, spring rolls and fruit cream for her best buddy. She’s happy as everything is ready and she’s waiting for Samrat now.

She settles the dining table and then takes her usual spot in the hall room. Meanwhile, the doorbell rings and she opens the door. It seems like she's been waiting for him to arrive. Ruhana embraces Samrat in her arms  tightly. He returns the gesture and moves inside inhaling the flavourful aroma.

"Wow! Did you prepare Pasta ?" he asks her with a smile.

"Yep! Only for you. " she replies with her ever so gentle chuckle.

"And what did I do to get the treat?" Samrat questions eyeing Ruhana.

"Uh! Why do you always find reasons, Sammie? Some things have no reason. You do it because you love doing it." Ruhana says while looking at him.

"You said there's always a reason," he says.

"Yeah, I said that. But it's not applicable here. You're special to me and so here's a treat. I feel happy doing so, so I'm doing." Ruhana says, rolling her eyes at her best buddy.

"Special? Really?" Samrat looks at her as he said the same to her during their conversation on love.

"Yes! That's why you mean so much to me. By the way, did you find your answers?" she looks at him hoping he'd give a positive reply.

"Ruu, I already said that you're special friend! Ab tum hi batao main aisa kya karu jisse tumhe tumhara jawab mile? " he asks.

"What's special? I mean why? Yes, some things don't need reasons but when you're talking about relationships, there's a reason, Sammie." Ruhana tries to explain.

"And you want to know how I feel for you?" he asks.

"Yes! Why do you always come to me when you have your friends and business associates to go to? What brings you to me? If I am special, you need to find out why?" Ruhana looks at him.

"Ruhana, how'd I know?" he looks at her innocently.

"You need to know, Sammie. Main tumhare liye kya maayne rakhti hoon, kya ab ye bhi mujhe hi batana hoga?" Ruhana looks at Samrat.

Samrat is clueless at the moment. He doesn't know what to say. She sighs and invites him for dinner. Ruhana and Samrat have their dinner in silence, maybe, contemplating their thoughts.

As they finish their dinner, Ruhana turns to move into the kitchen when Samrat holds her hand and says something that leaves her astonished.
