Chapter 16 (Bartholomew)
If Bartholomew was being serious, he didn't want the night to end like that. Bentley blurting out their secrets, but he still understood why. They pushed him, they didn't really know what his power was like. He had the strongest power out of them, so far, and they just thought it would be easy.
Bartholomew was there when Bentley looked inside Python's mind. Whatever he saw changed him, his scream was deadly which made Python turn back. His hair turned black, his eyes turned into a shade of red. And he begged to get out of there, but Python was frozen with his eyes turning bland.
They was stuck in that trance, until Bartholomew slapped Bentley. The two looked at each other but Bentley and Python couldn't speak. So waking up early, with the beach crashing against the sand. He sighed as he sat up and saw Python was hanging upside down from a tree, hissing with Pegasus.
"Do you usually do that?" Bartholomew asked, which made Python gasped and fall out of the tree.
Bartholomew widened his eyes as he ran over and grabbed his arm, helping him up. Python blushed as he rubbed his head and gave him a nervous chuckle. Bartholomew gulped and smile as he pushed a piece of his greenish-purplish fringe.
"Hanging upside down or just talking to Pegasus?" Python asked as Bartholomew shrugged his shoulders.
"Both I guess."
"To answer both of your questions, yes. I think it's fun."
Pegasus slide over and put her head on Bartholomew's knee. The blonde giggled as he touched her forehead, making Pegasus shake and coil around his arm. Bartholomew smiled and rubbed her top of her head against Bartholomew's forehead.
"She likes you." Python said as he smiled at the sight.
"Can you understand what she's saying?" Bartholomew asked as Python nodded.
"Pegasus was the very first snake I ever created," Python said as Pegasus licked Bartholomew's cheek. "I found this yellow feather on the road and thought about how cool it would be as a snake. I was only five so I still had no idea how my powers worked, but when she appeared by my side. I could've been happier."
Pegasus untangled herself from Bartholomew and slide towards Python. Bartholomew looked and saw how to the two connected. Their movements matched each others, and began to feel jealous.
He never had a friend that they where like that. At first he thought Ethan and him was close, but turns out that was all a lie. A big fat lie, all he wanted was to destroy him and his father. Ethan used him as a friend and he didn't like that, it made him feel used.
Which was something Bartholomew didn't like feeling.
"What are you thinking about?" Python asked which made Bartholomew jumped.
"What?" The blonde asked as Python nodded his head towards the small sand twister.
"Oh that..." He sighed as he pursed his lips. "Was Ethan always evil?" Bartholomew asked as Python raised his eyebrow.
"I do not follow."
"I mean, has he always used people? Did he always have fake friends and used them for their parents."
"You think that Ethan used you to get at your father."
Bartholomew nodded which made Python sighed and wrapped his arms around his knees.
"Yes, he used you." Python said as Bartholomew sighed and nodded.
"Of course." He mumbled as he closed his eyes.
He felt his heart break into a million pieces. The sand responded to his heartbreak, making a twister then falling apart. That process repeated as Bartholomew started to cry. He felt like a idiot, he fell in love with his best friend thinking that it would out like in the movies. But nope, Ethan only wanted to be friends because his father.
Python looked and saw the twister falling apart. He heard Bartholomew sniffing and he was hurting. The snake boy felt his heart twisting, like something was sharp and stabbing it repeatedly.
He moved over and wrapped his arms around Bartholomew. The blonde put his head on his chest and grabbed at his vest. For the first time Bartholomew didn't care if he was shirtless, he didn't care if he could finally touched his skin. He was hurt that his best friend, someone he fell in love with, only used him.
Python rubbed his back and Pegasus even wrapped herself around his legs. Bartholomew finally stopped crying, but tears still falling out, as he looked down. Python grabbed one of his hands and Bartholomew felt his face turned red.
But he couldn't help feel his heart skip a beat.
"I don't know how you felt towards my brother. But I promise you that I won't let him anywhere near you, not one step." Python whispered as Bartholomew smiled and tucked his head on Python's shoulder.
"That's a big promise." Bartholomew whispered back.
"I know."
"What if something does happened?"
"Then I would stop it, with my dying breathe."
Python kissed Bartholomew's hair, which made both of them turn red. Bartholomew smiled as he grabbed Python's hand tighter and the two just sat there. No words was needed, but their breathing was just fine.
Sure Bartholomew was still heartbroken about Ethan, and he had no idea if he was able to get over him. Since he was his first love, but he did know that something between Python and him was something different.
"Someone is coming." Bj said as he sat up.
The two cuddling teens jumped away from each, but with the tight grip they had on each other made then slam into each other. Bj chuckled as he shook the sand out of his hair, and he started to kick Benjamin on the shoulder.
"How can you tell?" Python asked as he stood up, helping Bartholomew.
"Chayton taught me this cool Native American trick," Bj said as he stared off into the sky.
Beatrix groaned and sat up. She rubbed her eyes and looked around, seeing the others was sitting up. She sighed and stood up and Bartholomew waved towards her, then tossed her a fruit bar.
"Should we leave or stay?" Bartholomew asked as Python shrugged his shoulders.
"Depending who it could be." Bentley said.
"It's a small aircraft, probably carrying around one or two passengers." Bj said as Bast stared into the sky.
"Could be dangerous, I mean we haven't had the best of luck." Bast said as she turned towards Python and Bartholomew.
She raised her eyebrow and saw they were holding hands. Bartholomew face turned a bright red as he buried his head in Python's arm. Python looked down and smiled, as Bentley shook his head with a small smile. But a tint of black grew from his roots, which allowed Python to know that he caught his thought.
"What if they are helping us, I mean I can that you guys stink." Bartholomew said as Bentley raised his eyebrow and crossed his arms.
"And you don't?" Bentley asked as Bartholomew laughed and flicked his free hand.
"Everyone knows that gay people smell like cotton candy or Skittles." Bartholomew replied as Python chuckled.
"Then I shouldn't stink." Bj said as Bartholomew rolled his eyes.
"It doesn't go for you, you're bisexual. I think they smell like something that both guys and girls like." Bartholomew said.
Bj opened his mouth but a explosion cut them off. The teens looked up and saw the aircraft was blown up. Two people flew out, but pieces began to fall out. Python grabbed Bartholomew and tugged him under his body, which made the blonde gasped.
Bast threw her hand up, allowing a large light green dome appear over them. The teens looked up and widened their eyes. Bartholomew wrapped his arms around Python and jumped up, making Python catch him.
"How are you doing that?" Bartholomew asked.
"I don't know!" Bast freaked out as the two people crashed on the beach.
"Aunt Kuriko?" Beatrix asked as the teens looked out.
Bartholomew fell down from shocked and rubbed his eyes. But he knew who that person was.
"Mr. Ken?" Bartholomew asked.
