Chapter Three: List Making for Piper 101

(EDIT: had to fix a mistake that I made. Nothing really changed, sorry for giving you a notification for no reason😂❤️)

{UPDATE: so basically I had to unpublish this chapter because I realized that Luke is dead in this fic, and I had something else that was all over the place. So yeah. Thanks, continue.}

So I have some news for y'all.

TRIGGER WARNING: This chapter contains homophobic and other derogatory slurs, violence, and Piper being really pissed off.

The two eventually fell asleep, and soon silence filled the house.

Monday morning came, and Jason was starting to regret staying up late last night. He was half asleep in his first four classes, and he had Piper laughing at him at lunch.

Thankfully, Jason had a study hall after lunch, so he didn't really have to pay attention. Leo and Piper were also in his study hall, which he was extremely grateful for. They had a way of waking him up.

The three sat by Leo's locker with their books spread out within a three foot radius. Their work went on for about thirty-five minutes before they decided to head towards the courtyard instead of sitting on the ground for the next forty minutes.

Suddenly, Leo made contact with a guy that came hurtling around the corner, and they stumbled to the ground. It just happened to be Ethan Nakamura. While Piper and Jason helped their friend up, Chris Rodriguez, who appeared to be with Ethan, helped his own. (Someone tell me if I spelled that right please xD)

"Sorry about that," Ethan said, brushing himself off.

Leo shook his head. "Doesn't matter. I've been knocked over many times before by you two."

"Have any of you seen a boy come through here?" Chris asked, pausing to leave room for potential answers. When he got none, he sighed.

"Well where the hell did he go?" Chris muttered, most likely to himself.

Ethan tapped Chris's shoulder, and the two turned their heads towards the hallway's end, where it turned to enter another hall.

"Gotta run," Ethan declared, not turning his head as the two took off.

Piper, Leo, and Jason exchanged looks before shrugging and walking in their general direction, since that was the way to the courtyard. Once they turned the corner, they heard a loud slam come from a few feet away. The three paused for a moment before jogging towards the sound. After they had gotten approximately halfway down the hallway, they had found the source. They saw Chris and Ethan again, but in a very different scene this time. Chris had a guy pinned to the lockers, who appeared to be struggling to get out of his grip, and Ethan was standing right next to Chris. They crept closer, trying and failing to look unsuspicious. They happened to hear a few words, actually.

"Trying to run?" Chris questioned, gritting his teeth. "It isn't working, asshole."

Jason glanced over worriedly. Despite having his ever so rude, but dearest, sister, Jason was never much of a fan of cursing. It just made him feel slightly unnerved, yet he wasn't completely sure why.

"Faggot's getting quicker though, give him that," Ethan sighed, leaning against a locker.

Piper tugged on Jason's sleeve. "Hey, let's just go, okay?" She spoke gently, knowing that Jason probably wasn't feeling 100% about the day in general.

Jason nodded, and the three went outside to the courtyard, finishing up their work within about twenty minutes.

Once they got back inside, there was a decently sized crowd around the lockers. Jason was highly confused for a moment before he realized what was happening in the area. There was an excessive amount of yelling, but none of the three could really figure out what was being said. They made their way to the crowd, leaving their books and backpacks by the door.

Upon arriving at the scene, Jason realized that there was a legitimate fight going on. Most of the teachers stayed in their classrooms or had a class right after lunch, so everyone at school knew that it was the best time to do whatever they wanted.

Jason studied the scene, seeing the punches being thrown at a figure on the ground. Then Jason realized the familiarity of said figure. He pushed his way through people with Piper and Leo following suit.

"Leave him alone, Chris," Jason gritted his teeth, suddenly feeling quite lousy for not acting beforehand.

Chris groaned, taking the boy's shoulders and practically tossing him to Ethan, who placed him in a tight headlock. He turned around, "What exactly made you decide to interrupt?"

Jason shook his head. "Just stop, please."

"And you're gonna make me?" (This is honestly the most cliche thing I could've said, I'm so sorry)

Jason hesitated, glancing over to see Leo's and Piper's encouraging nods, before taking a gulp and nodding. Chris rolled his eyes and threw a punch up, but it was caught by Jason's hand.

Thank god for reflexes, Jason thought.

He tried again with his other hand, but the outcome was the same. Suddenly, Chris stumbled to the ground. Jason took a step back to regain his balance before seeing that Piper had tackled him. He scanned the area for Leo, and eventually spotted him cheering for Piper. There was a loud slam before Ethan joined the fight. That was when Leo decided to pull a Piper and jump on him. Meanwhile, Jason's eyes shifted to the source of the noise, and he saw the boy, who had unfortunately been the victim of the situation, sitting against the lockers, rubbing his head. Jason took a step towards him before the boy pointed at the fight behind him. His eyes shifted to the scene, and he saw that there were teachers in the distance, rushing towards the quarrel. Jason took the opportunity to attempt to break it up, but didn't succeed until Mrs. Juno Olympus, the vice principal, came into the area, yelling. (I know, these names are all creative af)

"Separate now!" She demanded, pausing while the four all stood up and looked towards her.

She turned as she continued to speak, "All of you: go to your next classes! Mr. Rodriguez, Mr. Nakamura, Mr. Valdez, Mr. Grace, Mr. Jackson, and Ms. McLean: stay here!"

The hall was evacuated, excluding the ones caught up in the scene. Glances were exchanged while the boy, who Jason assumed was 'Mr. Jackson,' approached the others.

"I want to know who was involved in what way," she spoke as her eyes glanced around.

Silence stayed between the six students, causing Mrs. Olympus to sigh. "I know you four," she said, gesturing to Leo, Piper, Chris, and Ethan, "were the ones fighting. Could any of you be a witness to whether or not Mr. Grace was involved in this?"

Piper spoke up first, "He wasn't, ma'am."

"What are you talking about?" Ethan protested, obviously disagreeing.

Mrs. Olympus made a 'settle down' gesture with her hands before turning to the boy, who currently was nameless. "Was Mr. Grace involved as well?"

The nameless boy hesitated. He looked around at all the faces in the circle before shaking his head.

"Very well. Mr. Valdez, Ms. McLean, I looked forward to seeing you both in detention after school," she responded, sending Jason, Piper, and Leo off to their classes after requesting to speak with the other three privately.

*****

Jason came back to school a few minutes before detention was supposed to be over. Surprisingly enough, Mrs. Olympus herself was covering detention, and she walked out of the room, seeming confused when she saw Jason.

"What brings you back here?" She asked, taking a sip from what Jason assumed to be coffee.

"I'm Piper and Leo's ride," he explained, earning a small smile from Mrs. Olympus before a very angry seeming Piper approached with an aggravated Leo behind her.

Jason opened his mouth to speak, but Piper grabbed his wrist and dragged him outside before he could do so. After the three were in the car, Piper took a deep breath.

"Jason, you know what really fucking annoys me?" She asked, glaring at his dashboard.

Jason shrugged. "I could probably make a list if you wan-"

"Liars, that's what."

Jason sighed. "What happened?"

Piper took her eyes off of the dashboard and looked over at Jason. "That guy that Chris and Ethan were picking on was the guy from the therapist, first of all. Did you realize?" Jason nodded before she continued, "Secondly, Chris and Ethan blamed him for everything, so he was in more trouble. And finally, I'm guessing the 'self-defense' excuse was brought up because that's what we spent most of the time discussing how to properly use."

"Do either of you know why he lied when he was asked if I was involved?" Jason spoke, asking what had been on his mind for a while.

"I mean, you kind of have a reputation throughout the school, believe or not," Leo explained.

Piper sighed, staring out the window. "I just feel bad for the one kid. He looked awfully hurt after today."

Leo nodded in agreement. "Are we ever gonna leave the parking lot?"

Jason ignored him, looking towards the front of the building and seeing the aforementioned boy walk out. He unbuckled himself, getting out of the car and ignoring the confused remarks from behind him. He quickly made his way towards the boy, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. The boy quickly shrugged it off and turned to face Jason.

"Hey, I wanted to say, uh, thanks for today," Jason awkwardly explained, feeling the boy's eyes stare into him but not being able to see them past his hood.

The boy paused, but his thoughts were cut off by a blaring car horn. Startled, the boy jerked his head towards the source before worriedly waving to Jason and running off.

He returned to Leo and Piper in the car, finally leaving the parking lots. Jason didn't speak, and he tried to ignore the angry comments from his friends.

I still don't know his name.

OOH LOOK AT THAT STEREOTYPICAL CHAPTER.
