26 The night before
Addison POV
"Okay...how does this look?" asked Cori as we were decorating the room festively for tomorrow.
"Good job! I like it a lot. Do you want to help me with the tree or Poppy with the flowers?" I replied as I opened the box of Christmas ornaments.
"I'll help you with the tree. Otherwise you'll get the idea to climb the ladder. I don't want anything to happen to you or my niece!" she said and immediately got to work.
"She knows you well, Addie. You definitely would have tried." giggled Poppy as she put the first flowers in place.
"Yeah, you're right. Way too well." I laughed.
"It all looks quite wonderful. And I love the Christmas theme. Are you nervous about tomorrow?" asked Poppy then as she came over to us and patted my slightly aching back.
"No... Not yet, anyway. That's why I wanted to do the decorating myself. This way I'm distracted. I'm really excited about it. When I think about how much has happened in a year...I really can't believe I'm getting married tomorrow..." I replied, stroking my now rather large baby bump.
Our little Wiggler lived up to her nickname and rolled lively back and forth. I hoped at that moment that she would let me sleep tonight. Right now she was so active that it seemed improbable. She also missed Adam. I felt the same way. But he deserved an evening with his friends.
--------------
Sighing contentedly, I sat down on the bed and began to rub myself generously with lotion. My skin was much drier than normal during pregnancy. That's why it felt really good. When I was done, I put on a nightshirt and snuggled into the pillows. However, the bed felt way too big and uncomfortable without Adam. The only good thing was that I could snatch his pillows.
But just as I built my nest to sleep, my phone rang. Smiling, I answered the call from the man I had been missing so much all day.
"Hi, handsome! How are you? How was your evening?" I asked.
"Hi beautiful! It was great... But I miss my family. How are you? How's my Lou Lou Wiggler? I hope you didn't strain yourself too much decorating." he replied.
"We are doing well. We have everything ready and it turned out so beautiful. You're going to love it too. I'm sure you will. And I did it all very slowly. Corinne and Poppy can both tell you that. Your little Wiggler is still awake. I hope she sleeps soon.... But I think she knows you're not there and misses your voice," I said as I tucked myself in.
"Well... it was your idea that we spend the last night apart. I would much rather be with you." said Adam and I heard the longing in his voice.
It was true. It was my idea. But now that I thought about it, I realized that maybe it wasn't my smartest idea.
"I'd rather have you here, too, to be honest. Do you want to come home? Your girls want snuggles." I finally replied.
"Give me half an hour." he said with an audible smirk.
----------------
I was just about to fall asleep when I felt the bed move. A smile formed on my face as Adam snuggled up to me. He gave me a kiss on my hair while his hand came to rest on my tummy. Lou Lou Wiggler gave her daddy a strong kick in greeting.
"Hey..." he breathed in my ear.
"Hey...." I replied tiredly.
"You can sleep. I'm here." he said softly.
"That's much better." I whispered as I snuggled closer to him.
"Agreed. I can't wait for tomorrow." replied Adam in a lowered voice.
"Me either. We should get some sleep... I love you." I breathed tiredly.
"I love you too." he said and gave me a loving kiss.
"And you Lou Lou." he added, caressing our daughter through my skin.
