Author's POV

~Sunday, Winter Break~

Sam and Becca decided to spend the day at the mall. Becca had invited Khalil and Diggy to join, but it was said that Diggy wouldn't come if Sam was there. However, in the end, the girls and guys agreed to travel apart so tensions wouldn't rise.

The girls were looking at clothes in Forever 21 while discussing the crazy gossip that Jake had revealed the other day.

"Seriously, how much crazy drama is going on with Julie right now?! I can't believe she would do that. I can't believe she even acts that way. She totally didn't seem like this much trouble when I first met her. I might have to cut her from the cheer squad if she gives us a bad name," Becca complains as she skims through the hangers of jean jackets.

"I told you! I knew from the START that that thang was up to something. I knew something was fishy with her," Sam exclaims.

"I was just trying to be nice," Becca continues. "But now, I see that she has problems. That's not okay."

"You know, it wasn't Julie that came up with the fundraiser idea, it was actually me. I asked her if she could chip in and help Jake get some extra money for college, and then she treats him like crap! Oooh, I swear if I see her, she will be in a choke hold in seconds!"

"Poor Jake..." Becca sighs, "You know, at practice this week... Julie dropped a box of pregnancy tests in the bathroom. That's why she was throwing up. Can you believe that?" She says the last part in more of a whisper.

"Oh, I believe it..." Sam replies.

"I wonder if she's pregnant..."

"...she is."

"How do you know?" Becca looks at Sam and Sam looks back without saying anything. Crossing her arms, Becca waits until her friend spills the beans.

"Okay..." Sam finally confesses, "Diggy told me that he slept with her, and she told him that she's pregnant with his baby."

"WHAT?! Are you serious right now?!" Becca exclaims in disbelief.

"Shhh! It could or couldn't be his baby though..."

"But it is, isn't it?"

Sam lets out a big sigh and continues looking through the racks of clothes.

"...I'm just tired of the BS man. School ain't even halfway through and there's already drama. I'm irritated!" Diggy tells Khalil as they look around at some sneakers inside of Foot Locker.

"I hear you, man. This is crazy," Khalil adds.

"I thought Jake was one of my boys and I catch him trying to sleep with my ex-girlfriend one day after we broke up?! What kind of crazy mess is that?!"

"Sir, I'm gonna ask if you can please lower your voice in the store," said one of the employees. Diggy simply nodded and walked to the other side of the store with Khalil close behind.

"Trust nobody, man. Not Julie, not Jake, not Chris, or Sam. You can't rely on anybody but yourself these days..." Diggy continues while clenching his jaw. "But that's alright. I ain't worried. But best believe the next time I see them, I will give them hell."

"Man..." Khalil only shakes his head as the two walk out of the store and into the crowded open area of the mall. 

Walking around the corner toward the food court, Diggy notices Sam and Becca talking with Chris and Julie. And they seem to be arguing. Diggy walks up to the other group of teenagers; he was hotheaded and pushed Chris from the back.

"So you slept with Julie? Were you just cheating behind my back acting like we were homies all while sleeping with my girl at night?!" Diggy yells, his voice echoing through the food court.

"Woah! Dig, calm down," Chris says, holding his hands up.

"I just found out that Julie was a lying bastard, but I didn't know you were involved too." Diggy continues, trying to get all up in Chris's face, but Khalil holds his friend back.

"Diggy, wait, calm down. Why are you beating up Chris? He didn't do anything," Becca questions.

"He got Julie pregnant! And she had the nerve to tell me that the baby was mine, but THAT'S A LIE! Chris and Sam's relationship was a lie! They pretended to be together to make me jealous so I'd break up with Julie, but she broke up with me first then told me that she was pregnant with my baby, which was a lie. So now Chris and Julie are happily together while I have a miserable life with fake friends and a fake baby!" Diggy yells, his eyes flaming hot.

"What are you talking about?" Sam looks between Julie and Diggy.

"Don't play stupid, Sam. You told Julie to pretend that she was pregnant by me. This was all your idea!"

"I never told her to do anything like that--" Sam replies in defense.

"Woah, okay. Guys, let's go sit down and calmly talk this out. People are staring..." Becca says, looking nervously around the food court. She tries guiding them to another area, but nobody budges.

"Right... like you didn't want me and Julie to break up in the first place!" Diggy continues to yell.

"Okay, I did," Sam confesses, "But I'd never tell her to fake a pregnancy. How stupid does that sound?"

"Stupid is as stupid does, and I've known you to do some pretty stupid things," Diggy retorts.

Visibly hurt, Sam shakes her head and says, "You know what? This is stupid! Okay, YES, me and Chris had a fake relationship so he could win back Julie, but I never meant to hurt your feelings, Diggy. I just wanted my best friend back and for things to go back to normal. I don't know what Julie told you, but she's lying. Jake came to my house yesterday and said that she tried sleeping with him in order for him to get the college tuition money that she promised to give him. Now does that sound like someone you'd trust? Someone you'd wanna be in a relationship with? If anyone's the enemy here, it's her, not me! Look, I just came to tell Julie..." Sam steps closer into Julie's space, "That she is one dirty liar, and that if she EVER tries to mess with one of my friends again, she'll be sorry. Come on, Becca!"

Sam walks away from the dramatic scene with Becca right behind her as bystanders continue to stare. Khalil is seen shaking his head in disbelief as the girls leave the area. Diggy, still visibly angry, stares off into space as he tries to comprehend the conversation that just happened. Julie is surprisingly quiet, her arms folded across her chest and her eyes on the ground. The only teenager that seems to have an ounce of calm is Chris, who is folding his arms while looking between Diggy and Julie.

"I still don't see what this has to do with me," Chris states.

"Nothing..." Julie replies with a hint of attitude.

"She told me that you got her pregnant. The baby is yours, not mine," Diggy speaks up.

"What baby?" Chris looks at Julie but her eyes are still low. "Julie. What is he talking about?"

"I see she hasn't told you yet," Diggy replies with a cocky tone.

"Did you tell him that I got you pregnant?" Chris asks.

"Yes..." Julie replies.

"Wow... you trippin'. Dig, man, I never even slept with her. I ain't gonna lie, I thought about it, but it didn't happen because she was apparently in love with yo ass."

Diggy's eyebrows knit together into a frown. "So if you didn't sleep with her, then..."

Before the boys could speculate anymore, Julie tries to flee. Diggy quickly grabs onto her arm and pulls her back, making her look up at him. "Julie, just tell us the truth so we can go on with our lives. This ain't nothing to play about."

"Okay! ...fine. Neither one of you are the father. Let go of me." Julie jerks her arm away from Diggy and runs out of the food court, fleeing toward the mall's exit doors.

"What the heck just happened?" Khalil asks to no one in particular.

The three boys just stand there, like a deer in the headlights.
