I followed Light as we walked towards the diner he picked out. I held Light's hand as he held mine back.

   " Light I have a quick question before the date continues. "

   " I have the answer if you ask. "

   " What about Kiyomi Takada? I thought you two went on a date? "

   " We did go on a date, but it doesn't mean she's my girlfriend. I never asked her to be my girlfriend. I just thought I would take her out on a date and see how it went. It didn't go well. "

   " Oh, I'm sorry. "

   " Don't be sorry. It made me realize I didn't like her as much as I liked you. "

   " So, you asked her out because you liked her? "

   " At the time I thought that I would try and get over you because I didn't think it would happen, but I couldn't see her that way. "

   " Oh. I see. "

   " Here's the breakfast place. "

   " It looks nice Light. "

   " Thanks. I thought it would be a great place to eat breakfast. "

We walked inside and took a seat at a booth and waited for a waitress. The waitress came to our table and took our order and left us alone at the booth. It felt a little awkward but I knew I had to start a conversation with him for L's sake and mine.

   " So, Light, how's being popular? "

   " Not so bad. "

   " How so? "

   " You know everyone and no one picks on you. "

   " Wow, rub it in Light. That gave me flashbacks. "

   " Think about the present. Rai and Horie aren't here anymore. They both died of heart attacks. "

   " That's something that seems weird to me. "

   " How? "

The waitress brought our food to our table and set the check down on the table. She left Light and me to eat our breakfast.

   " Kira always went after criminals. People who did terrible things on the news. Why would he or she go after two high school seniors? "

   " Maybe he knew what they were doing? "

   " But I was the only one they bullied as they did. They just stole everyone else's money. It just strikes me as weird. "

   " It does seem a bit odd, but I don't care. "

   " What? "

   " I never liked Rai and Horie. They always bullied you and beat you Y/n. I was always there to help you, but I hated them for doing that to you. Kira has my thanks for those two. "

   " Light that seems a little harsh. They were just high schoolers. Sure, they bullied me, but I don't think they deserved death. "

   " We've had this discussion before Y/n. "

   " I know, but it just won't leave my thoughts. "

   " I know, but you have to leave the past behind. "

He reached across the table and held my hand, and showed me that his eyes were filled with love and care. 

   " They are gone. It's too late to do anything about that. They're gone and there's nothing we can do about it Y/n. "

   " I know. "

   " It'll be fine Y/n. I think Kira did the right thing and if you're scared...I know he wouldn't go after you. "

   " How do you know? "

   " You haven't done anything wrong. You are just an innocent bystander. Kira doesn't have a reason to hurt you. He'll have to kill me first if he tries to get you. He only goes after the bad people in the world. You are certainly not one of them. "

   " Thanks, Light. "

He paid for breakfast, even though I said I would, and we left.

   " Do you want to just walk around the park? The breeze still feels nice this morning. "

   " Sure. Sounds calming. "

   " Have you been stressed? "

   " Well, with exams coming up and my work I feel overwhelmed. "

   " Why don't you quit? "

   ' Because I did quite and am using it as an excuse. I'm working with the great detective L on the Kira case. My new job is trying to find Kira and you are being followed by an investigator because there are one hundred and forty-one people to investigate along with their families. '

   " Because I'm making good money. Since we are expanding I'll be making more money if I can continue to do well. "

   " Won't you be going to college soon? Why do you continue to keep it? "

   " Because it'll be good for my application. Very good if I go into business. "

   " That's true. Ah, look at the time. I need to go I'm afraid. "

   " It's okay. You're Mr. Popular for a reason. "

   " No, I just have some stuff for cram school to finish. "

   " I finished it a long time ago Light. How do you not have it finished? "

   " Don't ask questions you won't get the answer for. "

   " Alright, alright Yagami. "

We stopped walking and he looked into my E/c eyes. 

   " Do you want me to walk you home? "

   " Sure. "

   ' This way I can change clothes and go see L. '

We started walking away from the park and towards our street. It was mid-day when we got to my house. Before I left the sidewalk to go on to my driveway I turned towards Light who was behind me with a smile. 

   " I had a great time Light. "

   " I did too Y/n. "

   " It's bad I don't know how to end it. I need to go inside but I don't know what signifies the end of the date. "

Light just chuckled and pulled me closer. His left hand caressed my cheek as he chuckled. I felt the heat return to my face as I looked up at his face. He stopped laughing and looked at me with joy laced in his eyes. His smile was big and bright. 

   " You usually end a date with a kiss Y/n. "

   " O-Oh. "

He leaned in and leaned his forehead on mine. Then he leaned even closer to my face. I closed my eyes and leaned in too, but before our lips could touch a car drove by and drove through a puddle of muddy water. 

   " Ah! "

   " Ack! "

Light covered me with his body and all the muddy water got on him. We watched as the car drove away quickly.

   ' L's reminding me to not let my feelings get in the way, isn't he? '

   " Well, that didn't go as planned. "

   " Light I'm sorry you took the water. "

   " It's fine. You're not wet and that's what I was trying to accomplish. "

   " Well, thank you. "

I leaned in and kissed his cheek. 

   " Maybe on the next date the ending won't be interrupted Light. I'll see you later. "

   " Hey, wait! "

I felt my hand be grabbed before I could go inside. I looked back at Light and saw that same hopeful look.

   " Y/n before I forget. Will you be my girlfriend? "

   ' He seems eager, but maybe that's just because we know we both like each other. '

   " Only if you'll be my boyfriend, Light Yagami. "

   " So yes? "

   " Yes. "

I kissed his cheek once more before I ran inside. I locked the door behind me.

( Light's P.O.V. )

I touched the spot she kissed and felt happiness and love fill my body. I could tell my smile was as bright as the sun shining.

   ' She said next time! Y/n is finally my girlfriend! I could scream it to the world! It finally happened. I've waited so long for this day. The only thing is that she isn't aware that I'm Kira. This is good, but I think when the time comes she will still love me for being Kira and Light. Y/n will be the goddess of the new world. '
