~3~

I blinked twice to be sure I wasn't imagining this.

How did he get my number?

I mean I stole his number from Laura's phone, she still doesn't know I did by the way, but I never called or texted him so still, How did he get my number?

I shut my eyes and took in deep breaths to calm myself. I opened them thinking the text would be gone but it was still there.

I began typing;

Thank you and you are?

I knew who it was but I couldn't let him know I already had his number. I'd look like the creepy stalker.

His reply came almost immediately.

Him: You know who I am.

He knew I had his number? better to play safe than be sorry at the end.

Me: I don't, enlighten me.

Him: Your admirer.

My heart beat quickened as I read the text, he was fooling around with absolutely no idea of how much this text affected me. I still stood my ground, if he wanted to play then two can play this game.

Me: I have many, which of them are you?

I smile victoriously at my screen. Was this really happening? Was I actually talking to Sean Jones.
Can't believe I'm really talking to him, not just some random greetings we usually say to each other with no eye contact whatsoever.

I guess my night wouldn't end that bad after all.

His reply doesn't come in quickly so I use the time to wipe off my makeup. Once I was done I quickly check my phone again for any new texts but he still hasn't replied.

I was about to enter into my bathroom to take a shower when my phone buzzed.

Him: The one you can't let go of.

I can swear my heart stopped beating for a second.
He knew? he had to be fooling around, I wasn't that obvious I think.

I released the breath I didn't know I was holding and threw my phone on my bed.

I really didn't know what to reply, why couldn't he just tell me who he was straightforward rather than go through this long process.

I ignored the text and went into my bathroom to have a nice relaxing shower.

After I was done, I slipped into my purple pajamas and threw my self on my bed.
My phone buzzed beneath me, I knew it was Sean texting me but I didn't want to reply him anymore. For all I know it could be Laura using his phone to get me to confess my feelings to her.

Sounds desperate right? But when Lauretta Jones wants something, she makes sure she gets it. The means she uses doesn't really bother her as long as she gets it at the end.

But she wouldn't go this far now, would she?

I pulled out my phone and placed it on my nightstand, cause its constant buzzing beneath me was bugging me.

I tried to get some shut eye but I couldn't, curiosity got the best of me as I picked up my phone again to check the message. I had waited too long for him to finally notice me to actually blow this off, it was like a one in a lifetime opportunity for me.

Lau: You owe me big time. Way to space out on my mom.

Lau: You better reply my text!

Lau: If this is your way of trying to shy out from paying your dept, just know that I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE.

I chucked lightly as I scrolled down her texts.
I frowned when I saw that there was none from Sean.
Should I text him back? and say what exactly. Argh this so confusing.

My phone began to ring and I quickly answered, not bothering to check the caller ID.

"Hello?"

The other end was silent for a while. Was this Sean? I could just check who it was rather than asking myself questions I already had the answers to. I know I'm stupid you don't have to tell me that cause I already know.

"Oh my God Kat! are you ignoring me?" Laura's high pitched voice sounded from the other side of the call.

I sighed in relief and disappointment too.

"Laura?"

"No dumb ass. Its your ghost of future past and present."

Yup I just had to ask didn't I.

"I wasn't ignoring you, was in the shower. Just got out, in fact I was already typing a reply when you called."

"I'll let this slide once as long as you pay me."

"A jar of nutella?"

"You know it."

Nutella, that simple jar of chocolatey goodness was what started our friendship.

Laura and I haven't always been best friends, truth be told she was very mean to me when we were little, just because she was a year older than me she deemed it necessary to boss me around.
Our friendship all started with a jar of nutella.

I was six when the Jones came over to visit us one afternoon, my sister was eleven then and had already started being her bossy self. She refused to play with me because according to her she was a grown up now so she doesn't play with kids any longer.

The annoying part was that she was eleven, she hadn't even become a teen yet.

So Laura was crying because they ate all the snacks and she was hungry.
That was when I did the unspeakable, I shared my nutella sandwich with her and that was how it all started.

Never underestimate the power of chocolate.

"What's on your mind?" She asked.

"What do you mean?"

"You must've been thinking of something for you to space out like that"

"Oh um just the normal family drama."

"You'd be alright," she says, concern etched in her voice.

Laura doesn't know the full deal of what is actually going on. The last time I was down and she asked what was wrong, I had told her it was just a friendly everyday mother-daughter disagreement that everyone has had in one point in their lives.

No point ruining the lovely image she has for my mom.

Releasing a heavy breath, I mutter,
"I hope so."

"So I'm expecting you in the morning."

"Uhm sure."

"Sorry, I meant I'm expecting my nutella jar in the morning."

A laugh escapes my throat. "Laura you have money, go get your jar yourself."

She groans. "Haven't you learnt anything from me?"

I shake my head no, forgetting that it is just a voice call.

"Free stuffs are the best." She completes.

Shuffling noise is heard in the background, sounded like she's moving something.

"I'll talk to you later," she says, "I gotta go."

"Sure, goodnight."

A quick goodnight is mumbled back to me before the line goes dead.

Dropping my phone back on the nightstand, I lay on my side but don't fall asleep immediately, my mind is still swirling with all the events from tonight.

I want to scream, yell at someone, break things to blow out steam, but I can't. I do the opposite and lay down quietly on my bed waiting for sleep to envelope me.

My message tone goes on, catching my attention for the second time this night. I pick up the phone with no expectation whatsoever; I figured it is Laura texting me a reminder of what I owe her.

But my eyes widened as I read the message.

Sean: Goodnight. I'll dream of you as always.
