~26~

I wake up to the smell of...

Sniff...

Pancakes?

I groan and rub my temple, trying to soothe my aching head.
I get up, using my left elbow to support my weight and my eyes scan the area.

Sofa
Television
Popcorn?

Last night memories come rushing into my head, causing me to groan louder.

I slept on the floor?

How the hell did I manage to do that? No wonder my back aches so much.

I groan louder and get up completely from the floor. I use my hand to rub my aching back, the small action failing to soothe pain. I walk to the kitchen and see Laura and Marisol, already up and doing.
Mari was at the stove, flipping some pancakes. Laura sat on a stool, munching down on her pancakes.

"Good morning." I say, making my presence known.

"Ah you're finally up!" Laura says, with her mouth full.

"Beunos días." Mari says, as she turns and places the just fried pancakes on a plate and pushes it in front me.
She turns off the stove and takes a sit on the stool across mine, so we were facing each other.

I look at the pancakes in front of me and I grimace. I push the plate to Mari, noticing she didn't have a full plate.

"You don't like pancakes?" She asks.

"I uhm I do." I say. "Just not in the mood for them."

"Since when aren't you in the mood for pancakes?" Laura asks, slightly turning in her seat to face me.

"I guess since now?"

They both narrow their eyes at me. Their blazing stares reaching my core. I try to act like I don't notice them staring, but it was kind of hard to act like it when four peculiar eyes are watching your every move.

I sigh, "Fine. I'll eat the pancakes."

They both nod.

I take back the plate, and with a fork in hand, cut out a small piece of the pancake and chew slowly.

I felt sick instantly.

"Comes más." Mari says.

Eat more?

How can she be asking me to...

Suddenly feeling sick, I ignore her comment and rush out to my bathroom. I crouch down in font of the toilet and begin to puke out my guts.

"Are you okay?"Mari asks, from behind the bathroom door.

With tears rolling down my eyes, I flush the toilet and get up to my feet.

"Yeah I'm all good," I croak out.

I clear my throat, "I'm all good." I repeat.

~~~~~~~~~~~
We sat at a table at Starbucks, drinks in hand, all listening to Marisol ramp about this guy that has been pissing her off.
I really felt for the poor fella. Her choice in words has been anything but sweet and cuddly.
"Then the asshole told me and quote 'women need to be controlled'," she yells and slams her fists on the table in a not so subtle way. "I mean who fucking thinks that way these days?"
"A sexist! That's who." Laura yells, then throws her hands up in the air angrily.
Judging from both their creased foreheads, furrowed brows, clutched fists and red faces. I'll say they were really angry at whoever this guy is.
With Mari taking the lead of course.
She's been throwing curses and profanities in Spanish since we got here, like it was nobody's business.
"Does this 'asshole' have a name?" I ask carefully.
"Marry," she mumbles under gritting teeth.
"Marry?" I ask.
"I said Larry." She repeats, still mumbling.
"Larry?" Laura asks.
"HARRY!" She yells, getting to her feet, "The A-hole's name is-" she pauses, looks around and sees the number of eyes staring.
"Harry." She completes and sits down like nothing had happened.
"We need to teach Harry a lesson." I say, once the veins on her forehead disappears.
She lifts her head from the table and smiles, devilishly, may I add.
"What do you have in mind?" Mari asks, rubbing her palms together.
"I don't have one at the moment but when I do. It's-" I begin, but Laura interrupts me halfway.
"It's going to be LEGEN," Laura begins.
"Wait for it." Mari says.
"DARY." Laura completes.
"LEGENDARY." Laura and Marisol say at the same time.
I hit my head repeatedly on the table.
Remind me why I have such friends?
~~~~~~~~

"I can't do this." I say.

"You have to," Laura says.

"Why?"

"Cause it's your idea," Mari chimes.

"It was a harmless suggestion! I didn't think you'd actually adopt the idea." I sigh.

They both shrug their shoulders in response.

"Why can't Laura take my place? She's a better actress." I plead.

"Because I can't and Mari can't do it because...you know, it'd be suspicious." Laura says.

"Yeah, besides," Mari swings her arm over my shoulder, "you have this innocent look going on that draws people to you. You're the perfect bait."

"Stop saying bait." I insist.

"Why?" She asks.

"Cause it's like you're comparing me to a worm." I reply.

I sigh and stare at myself in the mirror. Sleek red heels, hair down, red lips, and the little black dress.

What did I get myself into?

~~~~~~~~~
Me: Target on lock.
Lau: Okay. Keep focused.
Mari: Get into character.
I sigh and put my phone back into my purse.
The music playing wasn't deafening, thank God.
How Mari managed to know where this Harry guy would be at this exact moment still remains a mystery to me.
I look straight ahead and my eyes capture the ones of the young man in a white T-shirt, sitting across me. I smile and turn away, hoping the little act caught his attention.
I watch him rub his jaw with interest, from the corner of my eye.
I pick up my glass and sip it's contents, waiting to see if he got the message.
Not long enough, the young man occupies the once vacant bar stool beside me.
"Hey. I'm Harry."
I nod in acknowledgement.
"A pretty thing like you should have a name, or should I just call you Angel?"
Pretty thing? I am not a thing!
"It's Katrina." I turn to face him and fake a smile.
I use the time to take in his appearance. Thick black hair, sculpted jaw and thin lips. Any normal girl would see him as attractive. If only they knew about his twisted view about certain things.
I notice his eyes land on my exposed cleavage for a while, before drawing them up to meet my eyes.
Typical.
"You know I have this friend," I twirl my fingers around his collar, "who has this friend," I lean in to his ear.
I lean out of his hold when I hear my phone beep. I mutter an apology and quickly take it out to read my text.
I had a hunch that it'd be Lau or Mari, telling me I'm getting too close to the target.
They both were sat in the boot, at the rare end of the bar, watching the whole plan foreplay.
My eyes widen as I read the text.
Scott: Hey. Guess what?
Me: What?
Scott: I'm right where you at.
Say what now?
"Funny thing, I also came here with a friend I'd like you to meet." I hear Barry say.
"Mhmmm." I say, disinterested.
Scott's here? Mission abort!
Me: Guys, Scott says he's here.
Lau: Have you seen him?
Me: No.
Mari: You can't abort mission now :(
Me: What if he sees me and thinks I'm shamelessly flirting my life away.
Me: Don't wanna mess things up with him uno.
I feel a hand lightly shake my shoulder, bringing me back to the reality of where exactly I am. I sigh and put my phone back into my clutch bag, then turn to face Harry once more.
"Uhm Kat. I'd like you to meet my friend,"
Friend?  What friend?
I really must brush up my listening skills.
I dart my eyes to the figure standing behind Harry that I hadn't noticed before now. A lump forms in my throat when my eyes meet familiar brown ones.
"Scott." Harry completes.
Hah! She better abort mission.
Oh yeah! I'm the writer *whistles*
So any thoughts about the gang(Mari,Laura,Kat)?
Also that LEGENDARY part is not something I came up with. Some of you may already know, it's from How I Met Your Mother. Just really wanted to add it in their so... ☺
Also,  tomorrow just happens to be the day yours truly was brought into existence 😊
