~18~

Matt arrived an hour after Scott's arrival. After the unnecessary stunt Sean pulled, Scott being very ignorant of the whole story, thought that Sean was just being protective. Just like Laura was to me.

Frankly, I didn't see the protectiveness. I just thought he was being a jackass. But I went with it anyways.

I didn't go back to my room after that, mostly because I didn't want to be in the same room with Sean especially now that he's throwing a tantrum over God knows what.
The unfortunate part of this is that I wouldn't get to finish unpacking but it's worth it.
I think.

So here we are, all seated on the floor of our large living room, with drinks and bags of chips littered on the ground. Well everyone except Sean was present.
Scott was by my left and Hugh by my right, who happened to be sitting across Laura with Matt by her left hand side. There was a vacant space in between Laura and Scott.

"So what now?" Laura asked, holding out a pack of cards in her left hand, which she waved out for display.

"Lets play bullsh*t!" Hugh suggests.

Just then the sound of my bedroom door opening caused the five of us to jerk our heads towards the direction of my room.
Sean came out and walked towards us casually, his hair was slightly disheveled and his face had a hard expression.

When he reached the group, his eyes scanned the area, it landed on mine briefly before narrowing them to the empty space beside Scott and Laura. Then he fixed his eyes on Scott, like a predator about to devour its prey.

For a second there I was scared, scared that he'd be seating beside Scott. But he did the unexpected, he plopped down on the sofa behind me, pulled out his phone and started tapping away.
His head was on the head rest close to my head, so I was stuck with listening to his uneven breathing.

Laura being Laura was the first to speak. Clearing her throat she started.
"Oh no...Sean is too good at it." Laura objects.

"Too good at what?" Sean asked curiously.

It sounded rather too loud cause he was right behind me. I have to tell you, I didn't feel comfortable one bit. What if he was planning to assassinate me secretly? or maybe cut off my pony tail.
I inhaled and exhaled loudly to calm myself down. Hopefully, no one noticed my nervousness.

I looked at Scott who seemed excited to play the card game and I smiled. I think I heard Sean grunt behind me but I can't be too sure now.

"Bullsh*t." Hugh answers for her.

"Oh am I?" Sean asked.

"Of course you are. Lying comes naturally to you." I say and roll my eyes.

"And being annoying comes naturally to you." Sean retorted.

"I am not annoying!"

"Keep telling yourself that darling." He whispered near my ear.

I cringed at the new nickname he just called me. I turned back and glared at him but he had on a smile.

"Okay! shall we begin?" Laura says in an attempt to stop the argument.

I ignored him and turned my head back to face Laura.

"So are you playing?" Hugh asked, directing the question to Sean.

"Okay."

He got up from the sofa and sat in the vacant space beside Scott.
Oh boy!

"So we all know the rules of the game, right?" Laura asked.

We all nodded our heads in agreement.

"Just to be sure, I'll go over the rules."

We all groaned in disapproval but she ignored our complaints and went ahead anyways.
She explained the rules of the game, the basics. How it's a lying game and how you shout 'bullsh*t' when you suspect another player is lying.

"May the best liar win!" She declared when she was through talking.

We all nodded our heads in understanding of all the rules of the game. I knew Laura had her eyes on me cause she knew my tell. According to her, I touch my hair when I'm lying, either I'm scratching it or twirling a lock of it in my fingers.

Her theory hasn't be proven true, but it wouldn't hurt to resist all forms of contact with my hair during the game.

Hugh shuffled and shared the cards equally amongst us.
The game had begun with Matt taking the first round of cards. I felt like I was in a den of liars.
Seriously, they all had on poker faces that it was hard to tell who is and who is not telling the truth.

"Seven of diamonds." I say. It was my turn to play.

"I'm sorry love but bullsh*t." Scott pronounced beside me.

"Love?" Sean protested.
I ignored his protest.

"I thought we had an alliance." I say while pouting my lips and batting my eyelashes at him.

"We still do. But ..."

"Ehm, there's a game going on. If you don't mind." Hugh interrupted.

"Just check the damn card!" Laura shouted.

So I did check the damn card and unfortunately for me, it was my turn to pick my own share of the heap of cards.

The game went on and for some reason, I had a red target on Sean. I just couldn't let him win the game. So I monitored his every move, I watched as the number of cards in his hands kept on reducing till it was down to only three cards. I had to do something quick before he actually won this thing.

"Bullsh*t!" I yell as he was about to drop another card.

"Darling, are you sure?" Sean asked smirking at me.

"Yes." I say confidently.

Saying that three letter word is the biggest mistake of my life. If you guessed correctly, yes I did end up picking another heap of cards, again!

So the game went on and Sean emerged the winner, being the first one to get rid of all their cards. I was really terrible at this game, when I say terrible, I mean it. I guess lying was not my thing, especially when it seems like the whole gang was conspiring against me.

"I'm going to get a drink." I say and excuse myself from the group.

"We're going to continue without you!" Laura called out from behind.

I was really glad she said that. At least I'll save myself from complete humiliation.

"No problem!" I yell back.

I walked towards the kitchen and straight to the fridge. Beer, beer, wine, coke! I reached for the coke can and closed the fridge.

I turned around and saw Sean walking towards me.
Did he follow me?

"Look who's here, its the king of lies." I say, in an obvious mocking tone.

He stepped closer to me, ignoring my mockery.

"So you and Scott eh?" He asked, raising a brow at me.

"Um yeah?" I crossed my hands over my chest and leaned casually on the fridge.

"You two are a thing?"

Honestly, I don't know what we were. But I'm pretty sure we weren't exclusively dating. We were just two friends that went out on one romantic date together.

"What's it to you?"

"He called you love," he said, imitating Scott's accent.

"So? you called me 'darling'. You should stop calling me that by the way."

"Why would I? it suits you well." He smirked.

"So does love." I retort.

"He's not good enough for you."

"He isn't? Do you even hear yourself?"

I tried walking out on him but he cornered me against the fridge.
His left hand grabbed my elbow tightly like a vice, preventing me from moving. The other hand was on the fridge, right above my head and his height towered over me.

"Yes. I can hear myself," he said, slowly and somewhat sensual.

It took a while before I could find the right words to say. His eyes held mine captive in an intense stare.

"If he's not good for me, then who exactly is good enough for me?" I finally voice out.

His eyes softened, holding in them intense emotions I couldn't decipher. He slowly released his grip on my elbow and looked away. Then he just left the kitchen, leaving me gaping like a fool.

Oh I hate him! I hate him! I HATE HIM!
