Three Days
Bakugou grumbled as he stood up and stumbled his way to the door. He was wrapped up in one of Kirishima's hoodies, letting its scent and warmth remind the blonde of his friend. He opened the door and scowled as Midoryia and Iida tried to talk.
"Kachaan! I'm so so-"
"Get the f*ck out of my house," Bakugou growled.
"Well, technically, we are not inside-" Iida tried to explain.
Bakugou cut him off. "F*CK OFF!"
He slammed the door in their faces and heard their quiet chatter as he stumbled to the fridge, grabbing a beer. Kirishima had only been missing for three days, but Bakugou quickly found himself spiraling.
Mina, Sero, and Kaminari had moved into the shared apartment temporarily, for all of their benefit. Kaminari and Bakugou were taking it the worst, and needed to be watched constantly. Kaminari was better at not lashing out and externalizing his pain, but Bakugou was getting worse.
He drank whenever anything reminded him of the red head. Sero had to forcibly take the bottle from him a few times when it got too bad. Tension filled the room and it felt as if the three friends were walking on needles. They never knew when he was gonna snap.
Mina walked into the kitchen quietly, sighing. "Bakugou, you can't-"
"Shut the f*ck up." He snapped. "I don't want to hear another f*cking word from your f*cking mouth. Got it?" He stared daggers into her soul.
Normally Bakugou's insults were his way of showing love. They were lighthearted and meant in a joking way. But these insults were cold. His worst thoughts that he had about anyone jumped out from the dark place he had hid them in his soul. Nobody was safe from his outbursts. Everyone was a target.
He shoved past Mina and took a drink from the beer. He wasn't a fan of alcohol but it help him escape his feelings. The drinks pulled him into a world where he could forget, even if it was just for a little bit.
Kaminari came out from the workout room, where he and Sero had set up their sleeping bags. He sighed when he saw Bakugou drinking again.
"Can you not, for like six seconds?" Kaminari asked tiredly.
He had been taking up extra shifts as often as he could. He was top on the list for any sort of rescue mission that could happen. However, there were little leads, and everyone was growing impatient.
Bakugou, on the other hand, hardly went into work. They excused him, for now, but he didn't know how much longer he would be able to avoid his responsibilities. His parents could help, sure, but if Kirishima never came back-
"Shut the f*ck up, dunce face," Bakugou spat before taking another drink.
"Can we just maybe look for him today?" Kaminari pleaded, staring at Sero and Mina.
"He's f*cking gone," Bakugou muttered before finishing off his bottle.
"Shut up!" Kaminari screamed. "You know what? I'm tired of this! We came here to help you, and you're acting like a spoiled brat!" He pointed angrily at Bakugou.
Bakugou stood up, itching for a fight. "I'm grieving! Are you so dense that you can't understand I'm in pain?"
"So are we! You're not the only one here who lost somebody important to them!"
"You don't get how I feel! You didn't live with him!" Bakugou screamed.
"Yeah? Well I love him too! He's like my brother! You don't get to sulk and drink and beg for attention because you're in love with him! That's not how it f*cking works!" Kaminari's face was getting red as he filled with anger. "All Mina and Sero have been doing is comforting you, and not once have you ever asked about their feelings!"
Bakugou was stuck, still caught on the words 'I love him too'. It didn't matter to him what way. He was angry and tipsy. Small explosions popped in his hands as electricity crackled on Kaminari's skin.
Sero gently grabbed Kaminari's shoulder. "Listen, we're all a little worked up and upset-"
Mina held Bakugou back as he screamed. "No! I wanna f*cking hear why Dunce Face thinks he's entitled to Kiri!"
"You're the one acting entitled!" Kaminari screamed back. Sero moved his arm to restrain the blondes entire body.
Bakugou broke free from Minas hold and launched at Kaminari, tackling him to the ground. Kaminari yelped as Bakugou punched his face. Bakugou growled as he yanked on Kaminari's hair and spat insults at him. Sero tried to restrain Bakugou as Kaminari grabbed his shoulders and shocked him, knocking him unconscious.
Sero picked Bakugou up and carried him back to his room. Mina lent her hand out to Kaminari, who mumbled a thanks. He wasn't too hurt, just shocked and angry at what had happened.
The three stood in the living room, letting an awkward silence consume them. A few minutes passed and Kaminari started to cry.
"I'm so sorry," he said to Mina and Sero. "I feel like I failed him."
Mina gently rubbed Kaminari's back. "You didn't do anything. And it's okay to feel sad, you guys were so close. But we're gonna find him. Sero and I are taking up some extra shifts too."
Sero nodded. "There's no way we're letting him go so easily."
Kaminari pulled his two friends into a hug. They stayed like that for a few moments, loving the warmth and comfort that it brought to each of them.
"I'll make breakfast," Sero offered.
Kaminari stared off into the hallway, looking at Kirishima's door. It had become a forbidden place, and nobody opened the door or entered the room. Bakugou and Kaminari avoided it in fear that they would disturb something, or ruin something that belonged to the red head. It didn't feel right, being without him.
The house had no laughter. There were no jokes or playful teasing anymore. Kirishima was the glue that held the friend group together, and without him, they split apart. He was the reason they smiled and why they continued to fight. He inspired them all greatly. Kirishima had helped shape them all into the heroes they were today.
Civilians took to the streets and searched for any sort of clue they could as to where Red Riot went. The news had reported his disappearance and police offered a cash prize to anyone who could bring information. So far, the police had not discovered anything that the heroes knew about, but they were still prioritizing this case.
Sero handed Kaminari and Mina their plates of food as he sat down to eat his own, checking his twitter and Instagram. He was careful to avoid anything that would've reminded himself of Kirishima. He skipped out on memes, conspiracies, and hero complications.
Mina sighed. "I miss him," she said quietly.
Sero hugged her tightly. "We're gonna get him back, Mina. "If he thinks he can escape our friendship just by going missing, he's wrong." Sero offered a small smile while Mina chuckled softly.
The police, and his friends, had ruled out a run away or complacent case almost immediately. Kirishima was happy and devoted himself to hero work. There was no way he would just disappear by himself. He had to have been kidnapped.
The friends had tried to piece together what had happened, but too many variables existed. They didn't know how many villains were in the area at the time. If it was just one or two, Kirishima would've been able to take them. But if it was there or more, each with string quirks, that could've lead to trouble.
A strange piece of evidence was no sign of struggle, but a stain of blood in one of the right wing hallways. The police took a sample and were bringing it to a lab to get tested. If it was Kirishima's, it would suggest he was knocked unconscious. If it wasn't, it could lead them to a villain or accomplice in the kidnapping.
Mina grabbed the TV remote and turned on the TV, going to the news channel. They all watched intently to see if there were any updates on their friend.
"In the case of Red Riot, police have announced a new lead. They offered a statement that reads 'We hope to have one of our most cheerful heroes back home soon.' They will be keeping us updated, but cannot share much due to classified information surrounding the case." The news reporter took a moment and looked at the camera again. "The police would like to thank Chargebolt, Cellophane, Pinky, and Ground Zero for their help and cooperation on the case. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Red Riot, please contact the police for a reward."
Mina held Sero and Kaminari in a tight hug. "Did you hear that? He's gonna be home soon!"
Kaminari smiled slightly. He was afraid of hoping, but his friend was strong.
"He's gonna come back."
