Patrol

Kirishima and Bakugou decided to go on patrol together. Since Bakugou's area was really quiet, he didn't mind going to help Kirishima and he knew he wasn't integral for the day at his own agency. Kirishima was relieved to have somebody watching his back, as the red head had developed some intense anxiety over the course of a few weeks.

Kirishima helped Bakugou with his gauntlets, as they could be really hard to get on when trying to do them yourself. Kirishima got dressed by himself quickly, as his costume wasn't as intricate as the blondes.

The two pro heroes set out to patrol the streets, and they were recognized a lot. Kirishima waved and said hello to people, but they avoided asking for questions when seeing Bakugou's scowl and angry eyes. It was a part of his brand to not take pictures with fans, as he knew from Kirishima's experience that they could be entitled, but that didn't stop him from being at least tolerable when it was needed.

Kirishima lead Bakugou through his usual route, checking in alleyways and by stores for any sketchy activity. Bakugou was distracted when he heard the red head gasp, and he was worried for a second before he saw the cause of the gasp.

"Kaminari!" Kirishima yelled and literally flung himself onto the back of his friend. He acted as if he hadn't seen the yellow haired hero in years when it had just been a few weeks.

Kaminari wasn't ready for Kirishima's attack, but he still managed to hold the redhead up on his back. "Oh my god dude! What're you doing here?"

"What're you doing here? I thought this was my route!"

Bakugou knew that he had no reason to be jealous, but watching Kirishima lay on Kaminari's back, practically proclaiming his love, made him angry. He scowled as his eye twitched.

"We got some intel on a really big crime ring. Apparently they're using some sort of drugs that give people quirks, even if they weren't born with them. They're supposed to have a place near here."

Kirishima smiled, still hanging onto Kaminari's back. "Baku and I will come with you! I fought one of those guys the other day and they're not easy, so you are gonna need some support!"

Kaminari nodded and smiled. "Let's do this!"

Kirishima hopped off his back and the two grabbed hands, showing each other that they were ready to team up. Bakugou hated how touchy Kirishima was. He knew that the redhead was a pretty affectionate guy, but seeing him this close with somebody else made Bakugou jealous.

Kirishima walked alongside Bakugou as they patrolled, checking into alleyways and behind stores. Kaminari used his quirk to send out locations of any suspicious activity to his agency. He mainly noted places that showed recent activity, but they didn't contain any evidence for the three to act upon.

Kirishima was just about to say goodbye to Kaminari when he noticed the crowd. They were running away, frightened by something or someone. He heard screams coming from a few blocks away.

"This is it," Kirishima whispered. Bakugou, Kirishima, ans Kaminari all looked at each other before running down the street, looking for the fight.

A man draped in black stood in the middle of the road, shooting some sort of explosive or gas into various buildings. He didn't seem to notice the three heroes standing in front of them, so that gave them a moment to plan.

Kaminari quickly sent out his location, alerting his agency, police, and medical. He headed to secure a perimeter and make sure there were no stragglers in the street.

Kirishima focused and activated his quirk, grounding himself. Bakugou took a running start and used Kirishima's back to propel him forward as he shot explosions.

The sheer force of Bakugou's power forced the villain to fall. He seemed shocked that heroes had shown up so quickly, and he almost seemed unprepared. Bakugou took the villain head on, overtaking him easily.

Kirishima knew he didn't need to step it. He was about to go help Chargebolt when he heard a woman crying for help. Without even thinking, he ran to the source of the scream. She was hiding under a table in the cafe, crying hysterically.

Kirishima stopped his quirk, knowing the sight of him would scare her more. "Ma'am, I'm Red Riot. I'm here with a few other heroes to help. Are you hurt?"

She stared up at him and shook her head slowly.

He gently reached out a hand to her. "Come with me. I'll get you to safety."

She stood up, but it was apparent that the shock was taking control of her body. Kirishima gently picked her up and started to head in the direction of the safe area.

All it took was one moment of shifting focus. One moment where his guard was down.

Kirishima felt a prick in his neck. He inhaled sharply and turned his head to scan for what could've caused him pain. He didn't see anything but broken glass.

'I must have kicked some up,' he thought to himself. As he set the woman down with the other civilians.

He checked near by shops before hearing a warning from Kaminari. "There's more!"

Kirishima headed back to where he knew Bakugou was. He wasn't surprised by the sight of his best friend taking on three at once. Thinking quick, he decided to use his body as a shield for Bakugou's back. That would give him enough time to focus on one enemy and take him out.

The one trying to focus on getting Bakugou from behind was using knives, similar to the one Kirishima had fought yesterday. He knew he could take them. He jumped in, punching the knife villain and taking his position at Bakugou's six.

"What took you so long?" Bakugou's voice was angry, but he wore a smirk on his face and Kirishima knew it translated to 'I was worried. Glad you're back'.

"Let's do this!" Kirishima focused, trying to harden his body.

As you'd suspect, he was shocked when he felt the knife in his arm. He stumbled a bit and stared at his arm in shock. 'What the hell? Where's my quirk?'

The pain in his neck. He reached up and felt it. A tiny piece of metal, like a needle, lodged in his neck. They had taken his quirk away.

He panicked, remembering what happened to Suneater when they had first patrolled with Fat Gum. Kirishima felt he was useless without his quirk. He couldn't help Bakugou. He had failed him.

It took Bakugou's yell after getting hit with a knife to bring him back to reality. He still had to fight. People were in danger. He wouldn't be a man if he had given up simply because he was given an obstacle.

He yelled and launched forward, punching the villain straight in the gut. He threw him to the ground and went for one Bakugou was focused on. He used close range weapons, so Kirishima readied himself. He dove under the villains legs before kicking them out beneath him. He quickly stepped on the villain's hand and kicked his weapon away before punching him in the head and knocking him out.

Bakugou was know focused on the last villain, who appeared to be the most skilled. He used multiple weapons, long range and short range, and made Bakugou question himself. It was rare.

Kirishima stood next to Bakugou in a fighting stance, looking for an opening. He wasn't safe from explosions now, so he would have to avoid that and whatever weapon the villain utilized. He spotted an opening after Bakugou shot and explosion. The villain always took a second to collect himself before attacking.

Red Riot took a breath and shifted his weight, waiting for the next attack. He suddenly felt pain in his side, and he looked down to see a knife lodged in his stomach. The first villain must not have gone down so easily, as he was leaning against a wall, smirking, and holding a knife in his open hand.

Without his quirk to protect him, Kirishima fell to the ground, trying not to groan or scream or cry. He felt the heat of the explosions next to him, and he knew that he had failed somebody he looked up to so deeply.

Another second of distraction, and another knife was thrown at Red Riot, hitting him very close to where the first knife hit. The red head gasped in pain, not used to the feeling of vulnerability and pain he was in right now.

"Kirishima!" Bakugou screamed. He was scared seeing his rock go down like that. The blonde was confused as to why he didn't use his quirk, but he didn't have time to ask questions. He only knew he had to save his best friend.

His anger got the best of him, and he quickly burned the villain that had hit Kirishima. He turned to the one he was facing and pulled the clip out of his grenade pieces.

"You'll die for that you son of a b*tch!" He launched such a powerful and concentrated blast that even the villain couldn't escape.

He was still determined to get up though, but Kaminari was quicker. He hopped down from a roof and looked at Bakugou, telling him all he needed to know.

Bakugou grabbed Kirishima and covered his body as they hid in an alleyway, safe from Kaminari's electricity. The fight was over now.

"Where's your damn quirk?" Bakugou held his friend bridal style, careful not to open his wound. It was bad, bleeding intensely. It might have been laced with poison or hit one of his arteries.

"They took it away," kirishima choked out as tears threatened his eyes. "I'm sorry, Baku. I'm sorry."

"Stay awake, sh*tty hair. Don't you dare close your eyes on me."

For once in his life, Bakugou showed the world that he was scared. He ran over to where the civilians were, knowing there had to be an ambulance or some medic there.

"He needs a medic!" Bakugou screamed, not caring how many cameras showed the terrified look on his face.

Kirishima grabbed Bakugou's shirt tightly. "No, no. Civilians first."

Bakugou ignored his friend and the whispers around him. 'Oh my god, is Ground Zero crying?' 'It's Red Riot.' 'He doesn't look too good.' 'They must've been bad villains.'

Kirishima kept his grip on Bakugou, knowing it was the only thing keeping him awake. He couldn't hear anyone. It felt like he was underwater, swimming in some sort of terrifying nightmare.

Bakugou set him down on the gernie the medics provided. He held onto his friends hand tightly. "Stay awake," the blonde commanded.

"I'm sorry," Kirishima muttered as he lost the struggle to keep his eyes open and succumbed to the darkness.
