Bakugou held onto Kirishima's hands as he stood up. He was unsure of his footing, and he noticed that the wounds on his stomach had made his right leg sore. He was unsteady, and he even asked the nurse if he could get some sort of crutches.
When the nurse brought Kirishima his crutches, he thanked her profusely and adjusted them to his height. Bakugou watched to make sure Kirishima didn't hurt himself in any way.
The red head took longer than he expected to get to the Uber Bakugou had waiting for them. He even needed his friends help getting into the car, as he feared he'd open the wound again and be in more pain than he already was.
It was hard for him to get comfy, and he felt stiff and sore from all the bruises and blood loss he had suffered. He focused on his quirk, checking every few minutes to make sure it was still there and that he could still use it. Normally in long car rides, Kirishima would rest on Bakugou, but not today. He was too afraid of pain to get comfortable and Bakugou noticed.
The redhead wouldn't admit it, but he felt like a complete and utter failure. He was supposed to be invincible and indestructible, but he had failed not only Bakugou, but countless citizens that relied on him. He sighed and hardened his finger again, making sure he was still powerful.
Bakugou was about to ask what was wrong, missing Kirishima's touch, but his phone rang loudly. He took one look at the caller ID and scowled. Kriishima raised an eyebrow at the blonde.
"F*cking Deku," Bakugou answered it after letting it ring for a second. He put it on speaker for Kirishima to hear.
"Hi Kachaan! How's Kirishima doing!"
Kirishima put on his best optimistic voice. "I'm out of the hospital and feeling great!"
Deku sounded excited. "Oh I'm so glad to hear! I tried to stop by earlier but Kachaan wouldn't let me."
"Yeah, I was asleep for a while. Sorry about that," kirishima leaned into Bakugou.
"No problem! My mom made some sweets for you! I'll drop them off tomorrow!"
"Thanks man!" Kirishima smiled as Bakugou hung up.
Bakugou loved the five minutes that Kirishima rested on him. He knew his friend was still tense and worried, but he was okay enough to be lightly calm. Bakugou hated when the car pulled up to their apartment complex and Kirishima moved off of him.
He helped the red head get out of the car and to the elevator. Bakugou hit the floor number and stared at Kirishima, who was now focusing on hardening his hand.
Once they entered their apartment, the red head plopped down on the couch. He must've forgotten about his stitches, as he winced in pain when he sat down.
Bakugou was at his side before he was even called. "What did you do, sh*t face?" He said worriedly.
Kirishima sighed and fixed himself. "Can you just get me some Advil or something?" He set the crutches down.
The blonde gave his roommate two pills and a cup of water before heading to the kitchen to make dinner. Bakugou loved to cook and took care of it most days, only taking a break when Kirishima dragged him out to a restaurant. The red head also wasn't allowed in the kitchen since the ramen incident of 2018, which had ended in a very tired and grumpy Bakugou talking to the fire department.
While Bakugou cooked, Kirishima took out his phone and looked through the Red Riot tag on twitter. He desperately needed to know if people were losing hope in him. He was surprised to see that most of the posts were positive, wishing him a speedy recovery.
He accidentally made it to an account that was dedicated to discovering if he had a relationship with Ground Zero. Kirishima's face went red as he realized what an issue this was. He felt awkward, as if somebody had opened a door only he knew about. What if Bakugou discovered the red head's crush this way? Surely their friendship would be ruined.
Kirishima kept overthinking when Bakugou yelled at him to eat. He quickly closed all tabs and decided to pretend like nothing was happening. He used to be really good at it. After all, he was the sunshine of class 1-A.
Bakugou set down Kirishima's plate in front of him and sat next to the redhead. "Hey, if you're not tired tomorrow, the old has invited us to dinner."
Kirishima took a bite of his food. "Really?" He thought for a second. "I don't wanna be a bother to your parents-"
"They invited us, sh*tty hair. We won't be a bother. Plus, they love you more then they love me."
Kirishima giggled slightly at the comment and nodded. "Okay, that sounds fun!"
That's what Bakugou wanted. He needed to hear the red head's laugh and see him smile. When Kirishima giggled it was like the whole world stopped and smiled. Bakugou loved Kirishima, it didn't matter in what way.
The two had finished eating and watched a movie before they went to bed. Kirishima had settled down even more and decided to take his usual place of leaning on a seemingly annoyed Bakugou. He leaned his left on the blonde, worried that anything he did on the right side would hurt him.
Bakugou didn't watch the movie. Instead, he stared at the glowing eyes of the man curled into him. Bakugou's eyes flicked down to his lips on a few occasions. He bet they were soft. One day he knew he'd figure it out. Kirishima was almost like a challenge to Bakugou, but in a good way. Bakugou's challenge was to get the perfect sunshine to love him back.
When Kirishima laughed or smiled, Bakugou felt his heart rate increase. It was incredible that something this seemingly small could make the blonde almost lose his mind. The small touches, the looks, the smiles, and the giggles all threatened to expose Bakugou's secret right then and there. He was so soft for Kirishima.
The movie ended and it was late. Bakugou stood up and waited for the red head to follow, but he was clearly struggling. He was tired, and he found the crutches hard to maneuver. At one point, he even grazed his stitches and gasped in pain.
Bakugou put on a fake annoyed face and picked his friend up bridal style, the same way he had just a few days before.
"This fine?" He raised an eyebrow. He was basically asking if Kirishima was hurt.
Maybe it was the dark lighting, but Bakugou sword the red head was blushing when he nodded. So the blonde carried Kirishima to his room and gently put him on the bed. He went back to get the crutches and set them against the wall near Kirishima's bed.
"Goodnight, sh*tty hair," Bakugou was about to flick the light switch.
"Baku, wait." Kirishima tried time sit up, but he was too tired and hurt to do so effectively. "Sleepover?"
The boys had multiple sleepovers every week, usually having the visitor join the other in their bed. Both didn't acknowledge it, and just let it be a bro thing. Bakugou would never admit it, but he would always blush when he woke up early and detangled Kirishima from himself. Of course, they wouldn't share a bed now. Bakugou would be afraid to hurt Kirishima, but he did long for the affection of the red head.
The blonde threw some blankets on the ground and a few pillows, not caring about a proper set up. Kirishima beamed at him as he watched the makeshift bed come together.
"Goodnight, Baku!" Kirishima smiled. 'I love you'. He added in his head. He decided to make every effort to sleep on his back tonight and prayed that he wouldn't be sore in the morning.
Bakugou groaned in response, which was enough for his friend to smile at. He pulled the blanket up and looked at the red head that was so close and yet so far to him.
'If I'd been a better fighter he wouldn't have tried to save me. Then he wouldn't be hurt.' Bakugou thought to himself.
He made a promise to never hurt Kirishima again. Not in any way, shape, or form.
