Coward
Bakugou woke with the sun, as usual, but was surprised when he felt a weight on his body. He opened his eyes fully and was greeted by Kirishima using his chest as a pillow. The red head was laying entirely on the blonde, and even had his arms wrapped around the blondes neck, almost cradling him.
Bakugou's face went red. One day, this was gonna be on purpose. He promised himself that. Then he could cuddle and kiss Kirishima as much as he wanted and the world would know he was dating the perfect person. He gently lifted the rock and placed him back on the bed before getting up. Kirishima quickly replaced Bakugou with a pillow.
The blonde walked out of the room, going into the living room and kitchen. He'd normally stay in his room longer, but he would just stare at Kirishima and he didn't want his parents to question his reasons for sleeping in.
He wasn't surprised to be the first one up, and he sat on the couch, scrolling through Twitter. He scowled as he viewed the picture of himself and a sleeping Kirishima on the train. So, the girl had recognized Kirishima. It only made sense, as the idiot didn't wear a mask. She didn't know who Bakugou was, but she had posted it anyways, stating she assumed the blonde boy was dating Red Riot.
Bakugou angrily dmed the girl, telling her to take the post down as it was a violation of Kirishima's privacy. If the red head had seen the picture, Bakugou knew he'd be flustered and hurt. Bakugou couldn't let that happen. He figured that nothing would happen, but hopefully she'd just take it down.
Bakugou heard a noise and turned to see his father leaving for work. He had forgotten that his dad left this early. His dad seemed startled to see somebody in the living room before remembering that the boys had spent the night.
"Maybe you and Eijiro can stay for dinner!" His dad suggested as he slipped on his shoes.
Bakugou nodded. "I'll check with sh*tty hair."
Masaru said goodbye before he left, leaving Bakugou alone with his thoughts again. His mind wandered to the warmth of Kirishima's body on his own. How comfortable the red head had seemed, as if he knew what he was doing. But of course, that was a stupid thought. Kirishima was just a cuddly guy when he had no control over his body. That was the conclusion that Bakugou came to.
Time had passed, so the blonde stood up and decided to make breakfast for the three remaining in the house. Kirishima would undoubtedly be the last one up, so he would make his breakfast last. The blonde skillfully made his mother's favorite breakfast.
As if on que, Mitsuki walked into the room, greeting her son and thanking him for the food. She quietly teased him about the food, although she deeply appreciated and loved the gesture.
Bakugou had made and finished his own breakfast, so he turned to make some eggs for the redhead. He usually wasn't big on eating all three meals a day, he claimed he forgot, so Bakugou made sure he got extra servings at breakfast.
While the eggs were still cooking, a door squeaked open and a shirtless redhead emerged, rubbing his eye. "Good morning, Mrs Mitsuki." He used only one of his crutches, which was a small improvement.
Bakugou slid the eggs to where his friend sat. "Oh, so f*ck me I guess, huh? After I slave away making your damn eggs-"
He earned a slap from his mother as he glared at her. This caused Kirishima to giggle, which was music to Bakugou's ears.
"And yes, morning and thank you to the talented Chef Bakugou. He's too kind for this world, too good. He says he hates his friends and then makes me gourmet breakfasts everyday! What a gentle-"
He was met with a small explosion on his head, and the cause of the explosion was met with another smack.
"No explosions at the table!" She yelled.
Kirishima erupted into his joyful laughter, effecting the room. Mitsuki and Masaru truly loved the boy's company, and were so glad when he had moved in with Bakugou. They knew the redhead wasn't as secure financially, so the Bakugou family made discrete donations to the red head's family in form of appliances and Christmas gifts. Kirishima seemed to not notice this, and often tried to pay the family back.
"Eijiro, honey, how is your stomach and leg feeling?" Mitsuki handed their plates to Bakugou, who started to clean them.
"I can move my leg a little better now! It's not as sore anymore. My stomach hurts a bit but when I have my check up in a few days, they said Recovery Girl was gonna heal me! I should be back to work in no time."
"Nope. FatGum said I personally get to beat your ass if you do dumb things before you're healed."
Mitsuki interrupted before Kirishima could fire back. "You must've had a nice sleep then. Do you want any medicine?"
Bakugou blushed at his mother's words, finishing the dishes. The water drowned out the more peaceful conversation taking place behind him. He cherished these moments, even if he would not openly admit it. It made him happy that his family and Kirishima got along, as he would hopefully make the red head a part of the family as well.
An hour or two had passed after breakfast, and all seemed well. Then, Bakugou's phone rang. He sighed, seeing his boss's number on the phone as he picked up.
"Ground Zero, you're in Esuha, yes?"
Bakugou nodded. "Yeah-"
"There's a villain attacking in the center of the city. I assume your friend, Red Riot, isn't cleared yet?"
"No-"
"Okay. We need you here as soon as possible. We think he's from that crime ring."
Bakugou quickly explained to his mother and friend, who helped him quickly get into his costume. Kirishima and Bakugou basically had a rhythm, and the blonde hero was dressed in two minutes.
He hugged his mother before leaving, deciding to use his explosions to fly him rather than to take a bus. He saw smoke coming from the main center of the city, and he heard sirens. This was it.
He landed a block away to assess the danger before heading in. He saw one of the sidekicks from his agency laying on the ground, seemingly forgotten. Bakugou yelled out for a medic, just to make sure the young hero got the help she needed.
He started for the city, where police use their car doors as barricades as they tried to help the heroes in anyway they could. Bakugou noticed the fire next. One of the main government buildings was set ablaze, crumbling on its self.
Then he saw the villain. A man in a long coat with long, brown hair. He moved quickly, but Bakugou took note that his mouth moved too. He had something small and black in his ear, which meant he was communicating with somebody elsewhere.
Bakugou watched as two sidekicks charged from opposite ends of the battle field. The villain dodged quickly, forcing one of the sidekicks to ram into the other. He picked up a young hero and spoke to him slowly, bringing out a knife in his back pocket.
Ground Zero sprung into action, using his agility to save both of the sidekicks and turn them to the police. Why had his agency only sent sidekicks? Where were the other heroes?
The villain smiled widely, taking in the sight of Bakugou. He seemed too excited for somebody's who's ass was gonna get handed to him.
Bakugou does forward, feigning a kick before he used a right hook to knock the villain off balance. He took note that when the villain was hit, the fire seemed to grow. Could that possibly be a quirk?
"Ground Zero!" The villain was up, kicking Bakugou's stomach and dodging another blast. "Can I just say I'm such a fan! You really made fire based quirks a trend." He smirked.
Bakugou concentrated and used an AP shot, yet only one or two of the fiery bullets landed on his target. He growled in frustration.
"You're one of our big targets. Deku, Shoto, Chargebolt, Suneater, Lemillion, and Creati are some of the others." He dodged an explosion and threw a knife, which scraped Bakugou's head, causing blood.
Bakugou screamed as he three explosion after explosion, only landing his target a few times. A few was better than none. Helicopters swirled overhead as smoke continued to black out the sky.
"There's another big one on our list though," The villain smiled as he attempted to sweep Bakugou's legs out from underneath him. He was met with a bunch to the stomach and an explosion to the shoulder.
"And why the hell would I give a damn? You're a ton of low life thugs!" Bakugou's next explosion singed the villains hair.
"We've kept a good cover. Have we not? Do you know one thing about us? Our goal? Our skill set?"
"You got a lot of heroes you want to do something with," Bakugou dodged and kick and flung the villain to the ground, getting met with a knife in the shoulder.
"The other big hitter, just below you. He's that dumbass sidekick of yours. We were expecting him to come with, but I guess he's more of a coward than we thought."
Bakugou screamed and fired off as many explosions as he could. He hit the mark, almost every single time.
"Incredible how an insult can improve somebody." The villain removed his flaming coat. "I assume we must've done a lot of damage to the coward then, seeing as he isn't here. Could he maybe be beyond repair?"
Bakugou growled and slammed his gauntlet into the side of the villains head, who retaliated with a kick to the groin.
"Be a good boy and listen," he forced Bakugou's head down. "Where is Red Riot?"
Bakugou returned the favor, and the villain screamed before throwing him into the wall of a nearby building.
"F*ck you, asshat!" Bakugou tried to explode his face, but the villain dodged and was hit in the shoulder.
"He's here, isn't he? Somewhere with you?" He took one look at Bakugou's expression before pressing his ear piece. "He's in the city. Find him and complete the job."
Bakugou shoved the villain off of him and slammed him into the ground, forcing explosions on his arms. They were concentrated, and there was no way the villain would get out unscathed.
"You care about that coward more than you should!" The villain managed to choke out. "Can't you see he's useless? Holding you back? Consider what you could be without him!"
The police had to pull Bakugou off the mangled villain, but even then the hero was fuming with rage. He could kill him, right here, if he said one more word. He watched closely as the villain was handcuffed and loaded into an ambulance, smirking widely.
The police made Bakugou answer a question before he stopped them. "He threatened my family. I'm checking on them."
It wasn't a request, and nobody tried to stop Ground Zero as he flew as fast as he could to his parents house. He couldn't bear the thought of what would happen if he was too late. He shook his head. Kirishima was a capable person, but he was injured. It sounded as if the villains planned to kidnap or kill Kirishima. The blonde pushed faster.
At the lavish Bakugou house, Kirishima held onto Mitsuki's hand as tight as he could. He watched the fight on the news, and he watched the anger and fear on Bakugou's face as the villain spoke.
Mitsuki has called her husband, having him on speaker as he watched the news from his work. He wasn't able to leave, but he had to talk to his wife and to Kirishima. They were all worried about the hero that they loved.
"He's got it," Kirishima whispered. He had been fighting alongside Bakugou for years, but that didn't make seeing his best friend in pain any easier.
That's when Bakugou became unhinged, live on TV. It was a sight that Kirishima has seen rarely, back when the blonde couldn't control his hatred for Deku. Kirishima held his breath and squeezed Mitsuki's hand as the police pulled the blonde off of the villain.
"What did he do?" Mitsuki whispered, watching her son blast off camera.
The news reporter came on screen, telling everyone to stay in their homes and lock their doors. She thanked Ground Zero, and the rest of his agency, for their efforts into keeping us safe. Kirishima's phone explodes with texts from the group chat and from notifications on social media.
He was scared.
There was a loud noise at the door, and Kirishima was the first up, quickly hopping over to the door on one foot. Just as he reached it, it swung open and he was greeted by a bloody and soot covered Bakugou.
The blonde was gonna say something before he saw Kirishima, but stopped in his tracks. He quickly pulled his friend into a tight hug, neither boys caring that the gauntlets were large and squishing them even closer together.
Mitsuki watched as her strong and defiant boy broke down, squeezing his friend in an unending hug. She had never seen anything like it before. She told Masaru that their son was home before she took a quick picture at the sight.
Bakugou closed the door with his foot, still not letting go of the red head. He was safe. He was safe and nobody was going to hurt him. Not again. Never again. Bakugou felt his heart quicken with love and relief for the boy that was always so close and yet so far from him.
Kirishima pulled away after a bit, smiling gently and saying he'd get the first aid kit. Bakugou took off his gauntlets before he squished his mom in a long overdue hug.
"Your dads okay, he's at work." She smiled softly, as if reading her sons mind.
Kirishima took Bakugou to the couch and gently sat him down, wiping his forehead, shoulder, and legs free of blood. He spoke softly to the blonde as he used alcohol to clean the wounds before covering them up in bandaids.
Bakugou stared at the worried red eyes that unturned him. They were slightly pink, and a little puffy. Was Kirishima that worried? He brought the boy down into another quick hug before heading to the shower.
Kirishima cleaned up and laid some clean clothes in the bathroom for Bakugou before heading to the living room and cleaning his own bandaids. Mitsuki helped him and checked his stitches, similar to how her son had done less than a day ago.
Kirishima thanked her for everything she had done, and the boys decided to stay a bit longer. After all, they were a family, and family needed one another in hard times.
