Chapter 3: Dusknoir Attacks
(Sun POV)
"Okay... You ready?"
"I guess..."
"Well then," Ein let out a breath and threw the pokeball into the air "Let's go, Dusknoir!"
Delphox and Incineroar took a fighting stance in front of us, ready to push Dusknoir back if he made any attempt to lunge at us. The familiar white light emitted from the capsule, which faded as soon as Dusknoir outline was visible. There he stood, glaring at us with a look that could kill. I gulped, but made my way to stand next to Incineroar and stood my ground. Ein did the same next to Delphox.
"We don't want to attack you." I claimed, to which Dusknoir replied with a scoff "I'm serious. We just want to talk."
Dusknoir crossed his arms and glared at me, glancing at Incineroar every now and then as if to drop a hint. I realised what he meant; this situation didn't really support my claim. I huffed, running a hand through my exposed hair and ruffling it up.
"Would you feel safer if they were farther away?"
He shook his head, before making a circle motion with his finger. I raised an eyebrow.
"You... Want us to return them to their Pokeballs."
He nodded.
"Can you promise you won't attack us if we do that?"
Dusknoir let out a loud mocking laugh, throwing his head back in the process as if to say 'I'm not promising you shit, human.'
I heard Ein clear his throat from the other side of Delphox. It gave me a small sense of security knowing another person was with me, even if it was Ein.
"You know, Dusknoir," He began "We can't help you if you keep wanting to attack us. We mean it when we say we don't want to hurt you, however you honestly can't blame us for self defense. We want to help you, truthfully."
'You can help me by pissing off.' He seemed to say.
Incineroar seemed insulted by his words, and therefore took a step forward. I however didn't allow it and placed a hand on his muscular arm, stopping him in his tracks. Dusknoir seemed to tense up from the movement though, and his stance became way more defensive. I resisted the urge to glare at my partner. I know he was trying to protect me, but now it would probably be harder to get anywhere with Dusknoir. Ein seemed to have enough and stepped forward, giving the ghost type a terrifying glare.
"Okay I don't know what your problem is but it needs to stop! We've made it clear that we don't want to hurt you--"
Oh God, he snapped.
"Ein..."
"--But you insist on playing us out as the bad guys! Well guess what--"
"Ein."
"--You're the bad guy, here! You're the one who's done bad things! And even when someone's given you a chance to redeem yourself--"
"Ein."
"--You continue being a prick and end up hurting the ones around you! Heck, even innocent Pokemon end up hurt because of you! Even I've ended up hurt because of you--"
"Irving."
"Do you know why? Do you know why this keeps happening, Dusknoir? It's because you're a monster! A heartless, savage, cold blooded, monster. Just. Like. Benjamin."
"Sagittarius!"
"What?!" Ein turned to me, his eyes full of hatred and rage. I couldn't get a single word out. He looked so angry... yet so vulnerable.
Then, it happened.
Dusknoir suddenly hit Incineroar and Delphox with a powerful Dark Pulse, sending both of them flying. He lunged forward and batted Ein out of the way with his hand, sending the boy flying into a nearby tree. My pupils shrunk and I yelled his name, but before I could run to him I was stopped by a large shadow looming over me. Dusknoir stared down at me with pure anger, making my knees go weak from fear. He raised his fist, ready to pummel me, when--
"Leafeon, use protect!"
A skinny yellow and green Pokemon was suddenly beside me, and the two of us were encased by a large protective bubble. Dusknoir's fist bounced off the Protect, making him stumble back slightly from shock.
"Sylveon, use Sing!"
A Sylveon was next to come to my aid, singing a tune which was blocked from my ears by Protect, but still managed to hypnotise Dusknoir, his glare instantly relaxed, showing us a goofy smile before collapsing to the ground, asleep. Leafeon deactivated Protect, and I quickly ran to the Pokeball Ein dropped to return the sleeping ghost. I let out a quick breath of relief, but then realised what had happened before Leafeon and Sylveon showed up.
"Ein!" I rushed over to his unconcious form, scooping him up in my arms and staring down at him worriedly. There was a small trickle of blood running down his forehead, as well as a few patches of crimson liquid splotched on his back. He must have hit the tree hard...
"Sun! Ein!"
My head shot up, and I spotted Luke and Ashe rushing towards us with Leafeon and Sylveon at their sides. They stopped a couple of feet away and gave me a guilty look.
"I'm so sorry we didn't get here sooner..." Luke said, bowing his head "Leafeon sensed a disturbance... but we ignored her warnings until they became distressed cries..."
"It's fine..." I muttered, clutching Ein's body tighter "Right now, I'm just glad you came at all... Who knows what Dusknoir could've done if... What if Ein..." My voice broke.
"He's alive, that's what matters." Ashley sent me a sad smile "Come on, let's get him cleaned up."
"Okay..."
(Sorry. This one's a filler chapter and therefore much shorter. I'll try and get a longer one out as soon as possible)
