Let's Talk

Marinette sighed into her hands, as her homework continued kicking her butt.

It was hard to get back into the swing of things, after getting used to her schedule as Ladybug.

She usually didn't get her homework done until midnight, but recently she had been getting it done whenever she got home. Though she was never in the mood to do it.

Her emotions were out of wack.

She had taken so many years to build up that courage. To finally ask him to the dang movies.

All to be regected, just like that. Her heart hurt, but she refused to let it break. She wanted to cry, to sob really, but she couldn't. She already knew it was gonna happen.

He had been acting weird that day. He must've hated her, that's why he tried to avoid her.

Well it took me long enough to realize.

Maybe it was time to move on. But she couldn't. Not yet.

Though she wasn't sure what she was holding onto.

"Maybe you should take a break." Tikki told her, sitting down on her shoulder.

Tikki knew Marinette was hurting. She knew she wasn't okay. But she couldn't force her to talk about it if she didn't want to.

"Tikki I can't." She didn't want to do homework, true, but what else would get her mind off of Adrien?

As if on cue, her computer beeped, showing she had a message.

She and Chat had decided in the early months of fighting that they needed a way to communicate without the miraculous.

Texting was too dangerous, just in case they actually knew each other and had each other's numbers. So they resulted to messaging on the computer instead. They made accounts on a chat website.

It wasn't the most efficient, but she was glad to have someone to talk to.

Marinette opened up the message from the flirtatious cat.

Chat- Hey m'lady. How was your day today?

Marinette smiled at the screen. He was always so sweet, and asked how she was everyday. And she always had a good response, and really never had a bad day, but on the rare occasion she had, he would do anything to make her feel better.

Ladybug- I've been better.

Chat- what's wrong?

Ladybug- meet me at the Eiffel Tower in 5?

Chat- of course m'lady

She spun around in her swivel chair, looking over to Tikki. Tikki just smiled and waited for the words.

"Tikki, Spots On." Marinette spoke clearly.

A warm pink light surrounded her body, her clothes transformed into her signature Ladybug attire. She pulled her yoyo off of her waist, and a made her way onto her balcony. She slung the round part of her yoyo, while hanging onto the string.

The yoyo wrapped around a cable pole, and she swung out into the air.

Her light weight propelled through the sky, the city below her. It was almost like a dream. It amazed her everytime, no matter how many times she had seen it all. She loved being ladybug, like nothing else in the world mattered. If only Marinette could do this as herself.

She eventually got to the Effiel Tower, taking her time to look out into the city. She would rather look out into the night sky, but sadly, it was only 4:30 now.

She landed gracefully, her feet gently falling onto the surface of the tower. Chat wasn't there yet.....strange.

She thought since she took longer, he would be already been there, maybe he slowed down for sight seeing too.

Just as she was about to sit down, a pair of strong arms grabbed her from behind.

She gasped with initial fear.

The arms wrapped around her, picking her up and spinning her around.

Giggles flooded the quiet atmosphere, the sweet laughter of the raven haired girl.

"Chat!!" she squealed between giggles.

He began to laugh as well, setting her down.

She swiftly turned around, standing with her hands on her hips. She faced him, a look of playful anger to go with her act.

"You scared me!" She laughed, her eyes sparkled with enjoyment. She couldn't even pretend to be mad.

"Just thought you could use some cheering up." Chat told her.

"That's the best thing that's happened all day." She looked down, crossing one arm over her chest to hold her other forearm. Her feelings rolling back to her.

Chat flashed her a look of concern, before brightening the mood.

"I'm glad I could be of service M'lady." Chat bowed, tilting his head to the side as he looked at her.

She brought a hand to her mouth, a soft giggled escaping her lips.

"Well. Lets talk." Chat gestured for her to sit down.

"Yeah..."

The two took a seat on the cold surface, though neither of them minded. This was their place, no one really came up this high, so this was for them.

They went to talk there often, and this time was no different.

"What's on your mind?" His voice was calming, easing her thoughts and troubles.

She inhaled slowly, then exhaled, before speaking.

"I just...." she fiddled with her fingers.

"I feel like I lost something, that I never even had in the first place." her words rolled off her tongue, her voice sweet yet noticeably bothered.

"What do you mean?" his eyebrows arched in confusion. He understood what she meant, but why did she feel that way?

"I have a crush. Had a crush.....heck....if I even know. It took me years to gain the courage to ask him out.....but I was rejected within seconds."

His heart sank at those words. She has....had....a crush. She asked him out, and he hurt her. It wasn't fair.

She continued on.

"I knew it was coming though.....so don't worry. I'm okay, just needed to get that out you know. So please.....let's not go any further into that." She gave him a genuine smile. One that had pain, but also happiness.

He didn't want to pry, since she seemed to be alright enough. He knew she wasn't okay, but if she could talk about it without crying....he didn't want to make her cry.

"I'm glad you told me Ladybug." Chat smiled back, showing her he cared.

"Yeah, you really made my day alot better." She sighed.

His grin grew wider, visibly happy.

Too bad he didn't know was the one who made her day so horrible in the first place.

"Well m'lady, I'm glad my paws-itivity was in good use to you." His mouth grew into a smirk, as hers broke into a wide grin.

"Do you ever stop?" She chuckled, her eyebrows furrowed in playful annoyance.

"Of course not." Chat replied.

She sighed. He always knew how to make her laugh.

She had tried not to think about Adrien. It was helpful, to have someone to talk to. If she were to be left alone again...she might break down. But she needed to do her homework.

"Thanks Chat, I needed that." She pulled out her yoyo, waving goodbye and slinging herself into the city.

The cool wind brushed against her skin, keeping her as calm as possible. Her initial feelings started to come back to her.

It was like her heart had been completely shattered, in that moment when she was rejected. Maybe she was in shock at first, but now...that's when the pain started to roll in.

She detransformed as she gracefully landed onto her balcony.

She couldn't be mad at Adrien. This was her fault. It all was her fault.

If she would've just......

She sighed and dropped into her room, flopping onto her bed. Her blanket wrinkled and her pillow bounced up, landing on her head.

Her eyes watered, but she didn't want to cry, not now.

There was homework to do.
