Chapter 22

Harry carried that feeling with him, right onto the field. Head held high, he kept Dudley at the edge of his field of vision constantly, waiting for the blow up. He didn't expect it to happen during Draco's pep talk.

"Harry? Is that you? It is! Oi, get a load of this guy!"

"Diddykins," Harry greeted. "I'd say you're looking well, but that would be a lie."

"One word from me and you're dead Potter. My team will follow."

"Not with all of the scouts here they won't. If they're smart anyway. Taking orders from you, I have my doubts."

"Why you little-"

"Shove off will you? You should be huddling with your own team, not mine."

"Got yourself a boyfriend Potter?"

"Don't be jealous, it makes you look even more unbecoming."

Dudley's mouth hung upon before he started stuttering.

"Boy! Stop distracting him!"

Harry discreetly flipped Vernon off while Dudley was yelled at to get back to his team. Draco continued his pep talk, the team went over their plays one last time, and soon enough it was about to be time to flip the coin to decide who had the ball first.

"We've got this my love," Harry promised, his lips brushing Draco's ear.

"As long as I've got you, I have all I need."

"You'll always have me. Good luck."

"Save those goals like you saved me."

And that's just what Harry did. He would have liked to say it was because he was extremely talented. Harry knew he was slightly above average at best. Body language was easy for Harry to read, and that was what he contributed the team's success to. That, and the fact that Dudley had a temper when he didn't get what he wanted.

Harry felt at peace as he made the last save, not that it mattered much. They had been in the lead since they had returned from half time. Dudley's mouth was once again bigger than his brain. Harry's team had an advantage in Harry knowing exactly what set Dudley off.

Was it cheating? No. Was it ethical? Harry thought it was deserved after so many years of torment. He just quite literally helped even the playing field. It was all worth it as his team lifted him onto their shoulders, allowing Harry to lift up the trophy.

Nothing could bring him down from his high, but the Dursleys sure tried. Harry was walking to meet the Malfoys when he was seemingly ambushed.

"Boy!"

"Vernon. Petunia."

"Just who do you think you are, boy?"

"I don't think I'm anyone, but I know I'm the goalie of the winning team. No thanks to any of you of course. I'd say it's nice to be seeing you again, but I hardly think I could lie to your faces without throwing up."

"Why I should-"

"Harry my boy," Lucius greeted coolly, resting a hand on Harry's shoulder.

It wasn't an act of comfort, but an act of possession. Vernon could attempt to play the game, but Lucius invented it.

"And just who would you be?"

"Harry's boyfriend's dad," Dudley sneered.

"Also known as Lucius Malfoy."

Vernon stuttered, Petunia paled, and Dudley as confused as normal.

"Mr. Malfoy, of course. We're just having a bit of fun with our nephew-"

"Yes, I've heard of the type of 'fun' you like to have. You absolutely disgust me and my family. It would be in your best interest to stay away from Harry."

"I assure you we want nothing to do with that boy."

"Are you stupid? He does indeed have a name. It's a wonder he turned out so well surrounded by the likes of you people," Lucius spat. "Come Harry, we have better company to keep."

"Thank you."

"What ghastly people," Lucius remarked.

"You should meet his sister," Harry muttered.

"Go, Draco is waiting for you."

Draco was watching the scene unfold in confusion, only held back by his mother.

"Darling are you okay?"

"I'm fine. You played so well! I wish I could see more, but I'm so proud of you."

"I'm proud of you! You absolutely smashed it! You're coming with us to celebrate right?"

"I wouldn't miss it for anything."

Thankfully, the whole team, including Blaise, had warmed up to harry, especially after his stellar performance. They had won by three goals, with the only goal getting into their net being from a penalty kick.

The food was flowing, laughter echoed across the room, and Harry was happy. Draco was leaning against him, a subtle sign of possession, and all Harry wanted to do was kiss him.

"Can I have the keys?," he whispered into Draco's ear as dinner was winding down.

"You have somewhere to be?"

"We have somewhere to be," Harry corrected.

"No luck in you telling me?"

"You could guess?"

"I think I'll just accept the surprise."

They said their goodbyes, and Harry opened the passenger side for Draco.

"Thank you my darling. I have to say, I do love being driven around sometimes. The only negative is that the driver is so attractive I have to refrain from climbing into his lap."

"We're still parked," Harry teased, leaning in to kiss Draco.

"In the parking lot of a very busy restaurant surrounded by our teammates and their families. I'll take a rain check."

"My lap is always available for you."

Draco blushed and looked out the window. Harry grabbed Draco's hand and squeezed it before pulling out of the parking lot.

If there was one thing Draco loved about Harry, there were many things he loved truthfully, but his soft singing voice was one of Draco's favorites. Harry used it to lull Draco to sleep sometimes, and hearing it always gave Draco butterflies.

He sighed happily, head resting on the window, until he finally recognized where they were going.

"Did you bring the bucket?," Draco teased.

"If I did you'd be wearing it as a hat," Harry muttered.

"And cover up all of my beauty? That's a crime."

"In that case, I think you're under arrest for wearing so many layers of clothing," Harry flirted with a cheeky grin.

"Potter!"

"I love the way my name rolls off your tongue Draco my love."

"Why are we even here?," Draco asked after Harry helped him out of the car.

"The first time I brought you here was when I thought we could be something more. It only seemed fitting that this was where I asked you to be my boyfriend. Right on the rocks where you cuddled up into me for one of the first times. I hope there never is a last time Draco."

"Of course I'll be your boyfriend Harry. I thought I already was, to be fair," Draco teased, wrapping his arms around Harry.

"I just wanted to make it official."

"Harry Potter, my official boyfriend. I love the sound of that. How shall we celebrate?"

"I have a few ideas," Harry replied with a grin, connecting their lips once more.

For Harry Potter who had spent most of the beginning of his life alone, he would never be lonely again.

Draco Malfoy was no longer a lost cause, and found something better than the friend he had initially been seeking.

Both boys found their other half, and amidst their broken pieces, they fit perfectly together.
