JUST CREEPIN'
KAMARION MONTGOMERY
AUGUST 17th; SATURDAY
"APPARENTLY, THESE TWO right here were having sex—maybe even more than that, now that I think about it. And agreed on A'jourie getting an abortion about a year and a half ago." She dropped a bomb on everybody , besides Sahid.
"What!" Kamaria didn't mean to outburst, but she was obviously very shocked at what she heard.
Kamaria liked to credit herself for being very smart and not letting much get passed her, but never in a million years did she think there was something going on with her two babies.
Eveything made so much sense though, and that explained a lot.
"You said a year and a half ago?" Kamaria questioned breaking the silence.
The tension was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. Jourie couldnt take her eyes off bam no matter how hard she tried, and he was the same.
He had so many thoughts running through his mind, but he was baffled the most. He didn't understand how he was brought up into this, but he had no idea that jourie was ever even pregnant in the first place.
He knew somehow though, he would still end up taking the blame.
Sahid moved his eyes back and forth between both of them trying to sink further in his seat. He knew that if his cousin found out he knew all along that it would probably be hell to pay with him.
"Yes," Kourtney nodded.
She was starting to regret how she went about things but anger was coursing through her and she made an irrational decision. Now jourie understood where she got it from.
She couldn't even fault her mother if she tried, she put her mother under the wrong impression just to save herself and ended up getting burned.
"I'm confused, when were you two like that?" Kamaria questioned noticing the looks on sahids and Samaria's faces. That alone told them that they knew.
She wondered who else knew about them, and who else had been getting kept in the dark like her as well.
Jourie knew it was over. She didn't even have it in her to lie about her and bam anymore. She had way bigger issues, so she might as well have told the truth.
"Bam how could you agree to let her do something like that?" Kourtney looked at him. Everybody knew how Kourtney felt about abortions. She believed that if it was your body it was your choice but she would never be on board with it.
She never shaded anyone that was on board, but she couldn't find it in herself to accept something like that.
"I didn't, I don't even know what your talking about." Bam frowned at his God mother.
"Bam there is no need to lie, jourie just told me." Kourtney informed him.
"I love you bestie, a lot, but to me it seems like your child is lying. Not mine. He looked just as shocked as the rest of us." Kamaria came to her sons defense because he was clearly at a lost for words.
Kourtney looked at jourie and she wanted to shrink and run away. She knew she couldn't lie anymore and not in front of bam. He didn't even deserve that.
All he ever wanted her was to be transparent, so she would give him the satisfactory and deal with the consequences.
"Who knew about the abortion." Kourtney looked around and everybody remained quiet. She eyed Sahid for a moment , because she wasn't sure if what jourie said about Sahid was true or not since she clearly lied about bam.
He looked to be having an internal battle with himself before he sighed and admitted it, "I kind of did." He spoke up for the first time.
Bam looked at him with a flash of hurt in his eyes.
"I can explain myself though," Sahid jumped at the chance to defend himself. He didn't want his cousin to be mad at him but he was put in such an impossible and uncomfortable position.
Everybody waited for him to continue so he figured he should carry on, "when jourie went to go get her first birth control shot she asked me to come because she was scared of needles and her and bam wasn't seeing eye to eye and Samaria was busy, so I said yes. But when we got there and she had to take her pregnancy test they came back with the results. The doctor had told her something but I couldn't hear because they was being hushed, and when I asked if she was getting the shot jourie told me no."
"She didn't tell me why though so we just left and got in the car. But when I was driving I took a glance at the paper on her lap and saw it said positive. So after that I knew she was pregnant, but when a few months passed I never heard no talk about a baby or anything I kind of figured she got rid of it. It was never confirmed, and I wasn't even positive that she was pregnant so I just kept quiet about it—not wanting to be the bearer of bad news." He explained.
"I mean put yall self in my shoes. How would you tell your favorite cousin that somebody you also close too like family and someone he was in love that she got rid of his baby without his knowledge? It was no right way to put it." Sahid claimed.
Jourie stared at him. She always suspected he knew something about her abortion because he hinted at it when her and bam were done for good, but he never brought it up again or was specific about what he talking about and she couldn't risk snitching on herself.
"Wait pause and rewind," kamaria shook her head and waved her hand because she had just gathered too much information to process at once. "Did you just say in love? Exactly how deep was what ever y'all had going on?" She questioned looking between them.
...
It was silent, so silent you could hear a pin drop. So silent that nobody moved a muscle in fear of creating noise.
"Oh my gosh momma they were boyfriend and girlfriend and for a whole year and a half and they were in love." Samaria blurted, widening her eyes. "I'm sorry. I couldn't take that shit no more." She rubbed the side of her head.
She was so tired of lying to her momma.
"I need a drink." Kourtney turned around heading towards the kitchen.
"That makes two of us." Kamaria stood up and followed her bestfriend, "all y'all get in here." She called back, because she hoped they didn't think they were off the hook.
She wanted to know every detail down to the first time they even showed interest in each other.
Jourie stayed in place while the other three stood up, eyeing her. They just couldn't believe what they found out, and Sahid couldn't believe how she was acting.
He always had a hunch that she had aborted the baby, but since it was never confirmed he let it roll off his back. Now that he knew it was true he felt like shit for not telling bam.
"Bam I'm sor—" she reached out and he quickly moved away from her touch as if she was infected with a contagious life threatening disease.
"Nah jourie , you cool. Don't touch me fam." He cut her off walking past her, and she couldn't hold the rest of the fresh tears what came streaming down her face. She couldn't believe this was what her life had reverted to.
Samaria felt bad for the both of them, and she wanted to be there for both of them. She thought it was very fucked up that she kept her brother in the dark about his baby and terminating the pregnancy, but jourie also looked so broken down at the moment as well.
"Come on girl." Samaria reached down to grab her wrist and jourie let her, having no fight left inside of her. She just wanted to shrivel up and die. She never thought her deepest darkest secret would get out the way that it did.
"We will be right back." Samaria spoke for the both of them watching Kourtney throw back a shot of whatever she had. Jourie figured she had just went through her fathers liquor.
"Hurry up." Kamaria told them, slamming her shot glass back on the counter with Kourtneys. "Give me another one too." She told her bestfriend and Kourtney did just exactly that while bam and Sahid watched.
Samaria took jourie to the bathroom downstairs, but she couldnt even say anything. She just cried and sniffled and Samaria let her. When they got inside Samaria closed the door.
"Here," Samaria pulled a paper towel from the roll and ran it under cool water dampening it, before she started wiping under eyes with it.
"Do you think he'll hate me forever?" Jourie finally asked after a moment of silence. "I can't even be mad if he does." She continued.
It was just so much going on at once right now and she was so overwhelmed. She knew for a fact her and Genesis were now done because her mother and possibly her father knew about her chlamydia, and if zayden didn't know he was sure to find out.
Now, bam knew about the one thing she never wanted him to find out about.
"Does it matter jourie?" Samaria questioned softly continued to pat her face with the cool paper towel. Her face was growing puffy and her eyes were extremely red.
"What do you mean?"
" I mean does it matter if he does? You've made it clear over and over that you don't care about how he feels so why would it matter if he hated you." Samaria didn't want to sound harsh but she was just calling it how she saw it. "Correct me if I'm wrong."
Jourie sighed, "I never wanted it to seem that way Samaria. I loved bam with all of my heart." She admitted and it was the truth. She may have had a funny way of showing it sometimes but he was like her lifeline at one point.
"So why did you do it?" Samaria questioned.
"What do you mean why did I do it Samaria?"
Jourie frowned at the girl.
"I mean what I just said. Your mom said may sixth, bam hadn't even cheated on you yet. Y'all were still together in a committed relationship, so he should've been apart of that decision. And even if you didn't want to keep the baby he should've known about it's existence. You owed him that much." She threw the paper towel in the garbage can.
"And even if bam didn't agree with your decision he would've been by your side because that's how much he loved you." She continued, but jourie just felt her chipping away at her heart with the fact she kept referring to his love as past tense.
"And I don't care how long ago that was I'm really mad at you. That's not something you do yourself. You aren't even supposed to drive home afterwards." Samaria scolded her, falling right back in the roll of her bestfriend that kept it real at all times.
Jourie wished that she had Samaria for the past year to set her straight, because she had been making some dumb decisions lately.
"I'm sorry, Samaria." A'jourie finally swallowed her pride and gave her a long overdue apology.
"I mean it's over now so—no I mean I'm sorry for the way that I treated you. You didn't do anything wrong to me. I was emotional at the time, once I was okay I should've apologized but I was too stubborn. Even after we have barely talked in the past year you still standing here helping me and trying to make me feel better." Jourie cut Samaria off.
Samaria smiled at her, "well, it's no reason to hold onto the grudge now. Everybody is about to find out." Samaria snapped her back to reality. She knew everybody wouldn't accept what happened between them and she was prepared to sit for the lectures bound to come. "Let's go before my mom go crazy. She doesn't even drink so I know she's stressed." She shook her head leaving the bathroom.
Jourie dreaded it because she was right. They barely drank at all, but they were pouring it up like alcoholics.
Making their way back to the kitchen, jouries eyes fell on bam who seemed to be in deep thought. She walked up, pulling a chair out at the table and sat down.
"Somebody please explain to me what the fuck is going on." Kamaria had her fist up against her chest since she had chest burn.
Bam seemed to be in another world, and even looked zoned out. So he never even tried to speak. He was more so focused on the fact that he could've had a baby and he never knew.
What was done was done, and he understood that jourie was in highschool when it happened but at the same time he would've liked to know what she was doing. Sneaking behind his back and doing it made her look guilty of something.
"I'll ask the questions since you two can't talk." Kamaria broke the silence again. She wasn't one for games and she was going to get to the bottom of this. She didn't have the time for beating around the bush.
"So Samaria said y'all were in a relationship for a year and a half, but I have no recollection of this. I'm confused on why we didn't know, why it was kept a secret and who else knew." She got straight to business.
"The only people who knew was Samaria, Sahid and yaya.We didn't tell you guys because I asked to keep it a secret. Bam had agreed to do that,so that's what we did. I knew you guys wouldnt accept our relationship because we're God siblings basically." she explained.
"Girl what the hell is that supposed to mean? I'm confused. You didn't tell us because you were scared?" Kourtney was trying to clarify.
"Something like that. I mean our relationship wasn't normal."
"Jourie who gives fuck?" Kamaria questioned.
"Like I'm absolutely shocked at the fact that you hid some shit like that for over a year. You could've at least told us when y'all got serious." She scolded jourie.
"Okay but would you have been okay with it though is the thing." Jourie asked as if she knew exactly what she would say.
"I mean jourie it's not ideal but I don't see anything wrong with it. It's just like dating your childhood bestfriend that you grew up with. Y'all were raised together jourie it's not impossible for feelings to get involved and nobody can penalize you for that. It's natural." Kamaria told her.
Bam was having a time listening to his mother say his exact thoughts when they were in a relationship.
When jourie looked at her mother and she nodded agreeing, she felt so stupid. So much could have been avoided. "And me personally I couldn't be in no relationship that nobody knows about for more than a couple months. I would feel like a nigga got something to hide." Kourtney added.
"Bam did you feel the same way about wanting to keep it hidden?" Kamaria asked her son ignoring Kourtney.
"I understood how she felt at first and why, but it eventually got old." He finally answered his mother not wanting to be disrespectful towards her.
"So why did you guys break up?" Kourtney questioned.
Bam locked eyes with kamaria. "I cheated on her because I was tired of being a secret." He admitted, and like always when he spoke about it — he was void of any emotion.
He was afraid to tell his mother he cheated , but he wouldn't lie to her either.
Her entire face dropped and before she knew it kamaria was trying to get across the table to him. Kourtney held her back but that didn't stop her from reaching out to try and hit him.
He knew she was serious but he had to crack a smile at her. She looked ridiculous, especially because she was struggling. "I'm gon' jack his ass up!" She exclaimed to no one.
"Girl sit down!" Kourtney yelled at her trying to prevent a murder. She knew how much kamaria hated cheaters and to find out her son was one had her feeling lightheaded.
Kourtney finally snatched her and sat her down. "What the fuck you go and do some shit like that for," she frowned , her chest heaving up and down.
"I just told you ma, it was over a year ago and I was deep in my feelings and she was being distant with me, and I took the immature route instead of ending it with her. She found out anyway, and we broke up." He responded.
Jourie noticed how comfortable he was talking about it, he sounded like a survivor or something. He still hadn't even acknowledged her though.
"It was probably guilt eating her up for what she did." Kourtney filled in the blanks studying her body language to see if she was correct.
"Well, that makes sense now but at the time I didn't know that since she did it behind my back." He side eyed her and she didn't even have a rebuttal. She knew what she did was wrong, because if she thought it was okay then she wouldn't have kept it a secret.
"Sound like yall ass was just dysfunctional as fuck and lacked communication. Jourie you was wrong as hell for not telling him about that abortion, and you know how we feel about those. You should've talked to one of us. And bam you had a right to feel how you feel but if I ever find out you cheated on somebody again imma break my foot off in yo ass." She threatened pointing at him.
"Maybe it's good y'all didn't end up together. It seem like y'all wasn't on the same page. It was for the best." Kamaria knew exactly what she was doing.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Bam and jourie spoke in sync with identical frowns, and it told her all she needed to know.
They could pretend all they wanted, but something was still there.
"I just said what I meant. Y'all get your shit, we out. I'm finna go find a switch like my momma used to do for me and whoop bam ass. And wait til I tell your daddy! You getting two whoopings tonight!" She stood up.
"You can't drive ma, you just had like six shots." Bam stated and she squinted her eyes as if he was stupid.
"That's what the fuck I got you for bam. Now do what I say before I remember you cheated on jourie again and fuck you up ." She rambled causing him to smack his teeth.
"You lucky I'm ready to go." He muttered seriously. He couldn't take another moment being in jouries presence. She gaslit him, and she needed help. He just hoped she got it, and all he could do was pray for her because he wanted nothing to with her from now on.
Their chapter was closed.
