Highschool AU - Christmas special
Who remembers my highschool AU special in JP? This special takes place that Christmas. Also it's kinda long, so yeah.
Enjoy!
(Megan POV)
'And with that class, merry Christmas and a happy new year.'
'MERRY CHRISTMAS!'
The class grabbed their bags and coats, rushing out of the classroom eagerly to get to their friends and wish them a merry Christmas. I however didn't rush, and instead put everything away at a normal speed.
'Megan?'
'Huh?' I turned around, only to find Professor Burnet, my Science teacher standing there with her arms crossed.
'Is everything alright? Usually you're the first to leave the classroom.' She asked, tilting her head.
I blushed slightly, looking away from her 'Y-yeah, I just don't feel like rushing today.'
'At Christmas?'
'Yep!'
Professor Burnet frowned, but soon shrugged it off and went back to her desk. 'Well alright then. Merry Christmas Miss. Artemus.'
'Yeah...' I slung my backpack over my shoulder and made my way out the door 'You too, Ma'am...'
I walked down the hallway full of buzzing students, who were chatting about the holidays and anything else to do with this time of year. They all looked so happy. I wonder what it feels like to have the-
'Megan!'
'Gah!'
I stumbled forward after feeling two forces colliding into my back, only just managing to catch myself and stay on my feet. I puffed my cheeks, turning around and yelling at my two childish friends 'PEANUT, SUNSHINE, WHAT THE HELL?!'
Hau and Rose grinned at me, closing one eye and sticking out their tongues to make that stupid innocent face.
'We saw you looked upset, so we decided to change it~' Rose sang, bouncing off her feet slightly.
'Well congratulations,' I clapped sarcastically 'I've graduated from upset to downright p*ssed off!'
The two rubbed the back of their heads, smiling sheepishly and muttering a quick apology.
'Come on, Meg, you know they're just gonna miss you during the holidays.' Another voice came from behind them, and soon my other friends, Sun, Lillie and Gladion came into view.
I secretly blushed from the appearance of a certain french fry hair.
'Well yeah of course I know that!' I scoffed, crossing my arms a popping out a hip 'I just hate being surprised!'
'Oh trust me, we know.' Sun rolled his eyes playfully 'Anyway, Megan, we all have something for you.'
'Oooh, another surprise? Goodie!' I say with fake excitement.
'It was Gladion's idea, and we helped get it...' Lillie told me as she rummaged through her pink backpack, her eyes glimmering as soon as she found it 'So.... Merry Christmas!'
She held out a gift wrapped up in in sparkly red wrapping paper. I gasped.
'Hide it!' I whisper yelled, looking left and right.
'What?'
'Put it away before they see it!'
Lillie was confused but obeyed anyway, hiding the present behind her bag. I looked around once again, before sighing in relief and focusing on my friends again.
'What was that about?' Gladion frowned.
'My father has eyes everywhere, especially at this time of year.' I replied, holding onto my upper arms nervously.
'Why this time of year?'
I gave him a look of disbelief. Had I not told them?
'Have I not told you?' I asked, a hint of sadness in my voice 'My father forbids Christmas in my family.'
(Timeskip)
'I'm home...' I called monotonously as I closed the front door, throwing my keys aside and taking off my shoes. I saw my mom sitting at the dining room table, sipping her tea and reading her favourite book. 'How I want to see the world' I think it's called. She looked at me as soon as I belly flopped onto the couch and groaned into a pillow, making her laugh lightly.
'Long day?' She asked playfully.
I propped myself up on my elbows 'You have no idea...'
Mom took another sip of her tea, her smile never fading. It must've been contagious as I began smiling too.
'Well, at least you have a break from it right?'
'True.'
Suddenly there was a loud noise from upstairs, resembling a door slamming open, followed by the sound of my father and older brother arguing... again. I looked at my mom with an expression of both worry and confusion, pointing at the staircase with squinted eyes. She sighed.
'Luke asked if he could spend Christmas with his girlfriend. As you can see, your father didn't take it so well.'
'I DON'T GET IT! WE DON'T HAVE ANY TRADITIONS FOR ME TO MISS, SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?!'
'I DON'T WANT HER LOWLIFE HABITS GROWING ON YOU, SON! WHEN YOU COME BACK HOME YOU'LL ASK IF WE CAN HAVE CHRISTMAS, AND I WILL NOT HAVE THAT!'
'Yeah, I can see that...' I grimiced. It was one thing to hear father yell, but hearing him arguing with my siblings was close to unbearable.
'BUT-'
'MY ANSWER IS FINAL, LUKE! YOU ARE NOT GOING!'
There was silence for awhile, until the sound of heavy footsteps could be heard from the landing. Followed by my brother stomping downstairs with tense shoulders and a large scowl on his face as he grabbed his leather coat and keys.
'Luke, where are you going?' Mom stood up as she and I stared at him in shock. He turned to us, not even trying to mask how upset he was. (Mask, get it? Eh? Ehhhhh?)
'I'm sorry mom, Meg, but I can't stay in this house with that man right now. I'll be at the college campus with Ashe until I'm in a better state.' he said in a shaky voice, and I swear I could see tears in his eyes. Without saying anything I ran up to him and gave him a tight hug. He returned it, and we stayed there in silence for a moment before pulling away.
He patted my head 'Bye, little sis.' he whispered before leaving, closing the door behind him. I exhaled, clenching my fists and growling.
'What the hell is his problem?! Christmas isn't something you allow, it's something everyone should choose to celebrate! It would be fine if we didn't want it, but just taking it from us?! What kind of monster would do that to their children?!'
'Interesting that you feel that way, Megan.'
I flinched, squeezing my eyes shut and pursing my lips together as I felt someone staring at me from the bottom step. Slowly I turned around, my eyes landing on my father who had his arms crossed.
'Well I was planning on talking to you next, anyway.' He snarled 'I heard you were offered a Christmas present today.'
Oh no...
(Timeskip)
'You want me to WHAT?!'
'I don't believe I stuttered, Megan. You will no longer have any connections with those kids, or anyone that celebrates this stupid holiday.'
'But that excludes the entire school! You want me to be alone for the rest of my life?!'
'It's a better alternative. They aren't on your level, anyway.'
'No.'
'Excuse me?'
'I won't do it.'
'Megan, you will listen to your-'
'My what? My captor? That's what it feels like! I can't do anything without you or someone you've hired watching me! Same with Luke, and Laura! We're our own people and deserve to be happy! And we can't do that when you're constantly on our backs! Oh stay away from those lowlifes, they're a bad influence. Focus on your studies, I can't afford failures as children. Christmas is a distraction, I forbid it. I have had it up to here with that bullsh-'
*SLAP*
I stood there frozen, a hand holding my throbbing cheek as I stared at the infuriated man in front of me. The hand he used to backhand me was still raised, and the amount of anger I could see in his cold blue eyes could not be described.
'Watch your mouth around me, young lady. Just remember what power I have over you.' He spoke firmly.
I won't lie, I was terrified. The way he spoke was spine chilling. But, using the last of my confidence I brushed past him, stumbling into my room and slamming the door shut. I slid down into a sitting position, resting my arms on my knees and bowing my head as I silently cried.
'Meow?'
I gasped, lifting my head to find that I wasn't alone in my room. A jet black Russian blue cat was sitting in front of me, staring at me with curious saffron eyes before rubbing against my legs. Despite my mood I laughed through my tears and picked him up, allowing him to snuggle against my chest as he purred.
'Nice to see you too, Prince.'
'Meow!'
I stood up with the cat in my arms, walking over to my bed and laying down on my back. Prince curled up on my stomach as he continued to purr, while I placed my earbuds into my ears and pressed play. Titanium came on, which I hummed along to until drifting off into a deep dreamless sleep.
---
*Tap*
*Tap*
'Nghh...' I rolled onto my side, trying to zone out the constant tapping from somewhere in my room. During my little nap my music stopped, so that must've meant I forgot to put it on repeat. Unfortunately that meant I could hear the annoying mystery tapping.
*KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK*
I jolted up to the new sound, spooking Prince and causing him to run to the other side of my room. I looked around the area with a raised eyebrow, wondering what the heck could've made such an irritating noise. Until:
'A-' I muffled a scream with both hands, staring at my window with wide eyes as the person on the other side waved awkwardly. I squinted at him, taking my hands away and whispering his name 'Gladion?'
My house was two stories high, and my room was upstairs, how could he be outside my window?!
Kneeling on my bed I shuffled to the window, opening it fully so I could give that French fry a piece of my mind.
'How the hell are you outside my window?!' I whisper yelled, making him wince.
'Nice to see you too, Megs...'
I rolled my eyes 'Yeah yeah, whatever. Answer the question, baka.'
'There's ivy leading up to your...' He trailed off, and visibly began staring at my face more intensely 'window...'
'What?' I asked, shifting my shoulders uncomfortably. I mean, you'd be nervous too if your crush was looking at you like that.
He pointed at my face 'How did you get that?'
'Get what?'
'This.' He pressed his thumb against my cheek, the one my dad slapped, making me wince in pain 'You didn't have it during school.'
'Oh, err,' I laughed nervously. Crap, I forgot to check it! Think of an excuse, Baka! 'I ran into my door while chasing Prince. I'm such a clutz.' I told him nervously.
'You're a really bad liar, you know that?'
F*ck! How bruised is it?!
I looked over my shoulder to the door, before peering over the boy to stare outside. No one seemed to be around, so I suppose it was safe for him to come in. With a huff I grabbed him by the hem of his black coat, yanking him through my window and causing him to tumble onto my bed. I closed the window and stared down at him.
'Hi.' He said awkwardly.
'Hey.' I replied casually, scooting over so I was sitting with my legs over the bed. Gladion followed suit. 'Thanks for letting me in.' he smiled.
'Pfft, whatever! I only did it because it was getting cold!' I scoffed, turning away from him to hide my blush.
'So, about that brui-'
'I don't want to talk about it, Gladion.'
The sudden seriousness in my tone seemed to have surprised him, as the room fell silent and I felt his gaze slowly off me. This made me gaze at him from over my shoulder. He definitely had something on his mind.
'Frenchfry? You alright?'
No answer.
'Helloooo, Gladiooon?'
Still nothing.
'Hey!' I snapped my fingers in front of his face, snapping him out of his little trance 'Quit ignoring me!'
His head remained down as he reached inside his pocket and pulled out the gift from before 'We still haven't given it to you.' He muttered, a slight blush appearing on his cheeks.
I stared down at the small wrapped box with my lip between my teeth. I wanted to accept it, I really did, because it was from my friends and they seemed so excited to give it to me. But... I'd rather see them upset than physically hurt by my father. Who knows what he'll do if he found out I got a Christmas Present.
'Gladion you know I can't. My fathe-'
'He doesn't have to know.'
'You don't understand. He'll find out eventually, he always does.'
'Then tell him it's not a Christmas Present.'
'What else could it possibly-'
Gladion muffled my sentence by placing his hand over my mouth. And unfortunately since it was gloved, I couldn't lick it to get it off. I stared at him with my brows raised, as he smirked back at me.
'Just shut up kitty, and open the stupid box.'
I squeaked at his sudden bluntness, my face turning extremely hot as I realised how close we were. Though despite his confidence, and the way he spoke, I could see the pleading look in his eyes. But to be honest, all that combined made him kinda, I don't know...
Sexy...
With I huff I ripped his hand away from my mouth and took the box, ripping at the wrapping paper and opening it up to reveal...
I gasped
It was a necklace. It was silver, and had a pendant resembling a howling wolf sitting on a crescent moon. My favourite animal...
I stared at it with stars in my eyes, and unknowingly allowed a smile to appear on my face. It was absolutely gorgeous.
'So?' Gladion smirked 'Do you like it?'
Like it? I love it!
'Meh it's okay.' I shrugged, turning to him with a bored expression,
Gladion chuckled before taking the box from me, taking the necklace out and turning me around so my back was facing him. I felt him put the piece of jewelry around my neck, causing me to push my hair to my shoulder so he could hook it. A soon as he did I touched the pendant and once again turned to him. Only this time I was smiling.
'Thank you...'
My God if only I had a camera! His face was so red it was like ketchup to go with his french fry hair. This made me giggle.
'What's up with you?' I teased.
'N-Nothing!'
'Aww, octopus is emawwased~'
'No I'm not!'
The two of us laughed, until he grabbed my hand and carresed it with his thumb. I stared at him in confusion, trying to control the blush that was trying to creep onto my face.
'My family's having a party to celebrate the holidays. Wanna come?' He asked softly.
Aaaaand the blush won. I literally became a stuttering mess
'I-I-I- U-Uhm- Well you see- M-My father-'
'You don't have to worry about that. Your mom said she'll keep him occupied. In fact, she's the one who told me about the ivy leading up to your room. Kinda cliche now that I think about it...'
I laughed 'Oh yea. I used to think my prince would use them to save me from father. Of course I was like, six at the time.'
'Well... That's kinda what's happening right now.' Gladion murmured.
And now we were both blushing. We stared into each others eyes for a moment before looking away in embarrassment.
'So, uh, Shall we?' Gladion held a hand out to me, and I stared at it for a moment before taking it.
'We shall.'
'Oh, one more thing.'
The boy pulled me up into his arms, gently placing his lips onto my forehead before replacing it with his own 'Merry Christmas, Kitty.'
'M-Merry Christmas... Stupid Octopus...'
(This is terrible, I haven't uploaded in like over a week, and I didn't explain myself- is there anything else to add to the sin count? I am sorry for being a terrible author. You can hate me if you want ;-;)
