Chapter 6: Leven, pleasure to meet you.
(Megan POV)
I yawned lightly as I lay stretched out on a high tree branch. Today Wicke gave Gladion and I the day off since apparently we were overworking. We protested, of course, but if you can tell it failed. Anyway Shū, my Roserade who I let out of his pokeball, suddenly let out a small confused sound which caused me to look at him 'What's up, Shū?'
'Roserade...' He muttered, pointing towards the Pokemon Center. More specifically the two people standing in front of it. Two boys, one I knew and one I didn't, were talking about something I couldn't quite make out. But their faces were red, like they were blushing or something. I stared at the boy I did know and raised an eyebrow.
'Sun...?' I whispered, before looking at Shū. We both nodded, before jumping down the tree branch by branch. Sun and the other boy seemed to have heard me land since they turned to me, only to find me standing there picking leaves and twigs out of my hair.
'Megan?' Sun raised an eyebrow as he walked towards me.
'Heya!' I said cheerfully, giving him a quick wave. Shū mirrored my action.
'Hey.' He replied with a smile, before giving me a quick hug. 'What are you doing here?'
I shrugged. 'Wicke gave me the day off. What are you doing here?'
'Day off.'
'Oh. Coincidence much?'
'I know right?'
'Yeah! Anyway who's this?' I asked, pointing at the other male who was watching us. He was about the same height as Sun, maybe a bit taller, with shortish blue hair and eyes. He wore a blue hoodie with grey sleeves, denim jeans and grey converse. A pair of pink glasses rested on the bridge of his nose. Sun blushed at the mention of the boy.
'O-Oh, this is-'
'Leven, pleasure to meet you.' The boy spoke up in a smooth deep voice as he walked up to us. He outstretched his hand to shake with a smile, which I nervously took while my head turned to the side.
'Megan... Nice to meet you too...'
Leven frowned. 'Are you alright?'
'She's fine. She just gets nervous around people she doesn't know.' Sun explained, which I confirmed with a small nod. Leven let out a small 'oh' and gently let go of my hand. Then his eyes slowly shifted to Shū, who was standing confidently by my side.
'That's a unique coloured Roserade you have.'
'Thanks... He's a shiny...' I murmured
'Impressive.' Leven nodded, tweaking his glasses. Shū grinned proudly, posing with his 'hands' on his hips as Leven examined him.
'Narcissist...' I muttered, smirking at the grass type.
'Roserade!' He yelled, which only resulted in me chuckling.
'Anywayz. Sun who exactly is this guy? I've never seen him before, let alone with you.' I asked the ravenette as we watched Leven examine Shū.
'Leven's an A+ student at the Pokemon school. He specializes in water type Pokemon.' He explained proudly. 'He's real strong too. He almost beat me in a battle.'
My eyebrows furrowed in irritation as I continued to stare in front of me. Gladion and I couldn't beat Sun, so hearing that someone almost did ticked me off a little. 'I see...'
'You jealous?' Sun teased, making me scoff.
'That you have a strong water trainer boyfriend? Not in the slightest.'
'Boyfriend?!' Sun yelled, as his face turned bright red. This made me smirk.
'Oh so you do like him then?'
'N-No I don't!'
'What's going on here?' Someone asked from behind us, making us turn around to see Leven. He gave us a confused look, as his eyes moved over to Sun's face. 'Why is Sun's face red?'
Sun laughed nervously. 'I guess you could say I have sunburn.'
Leven and I stood in silence, staring at the boy with no emotion.
'Ya know, because my name's Su-'
'We know, Sun.' Leven sighed, pushing up his glasses which were glinting. He didn't look impressed, and neither did I.
'Sun.' I muttered.
'Yea?'
'...Go step on lego...'
(Timeskip)
'So, Leven,' I began. We were currently sitting in the cafe in the Pokemon center, drinking Tapu-Cocoa and talking. 'I heard you almost beat Sunny boy over here in a battle.'
Leven smiled as he took a sip from his drink, before placing it back on the table. 'Yes. Almost. But of course he prevailed, which actually isn't much of a surprise to me. He is the strongest trainer in Alola.'
'I wouldn't say that...' Sun chuckled, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. 'I'm sure there are much stronger trainers in the region, we just haven't come across them yet.'
'Perhaps,' I shrugged, smirking. 'But until we do you're the strongest.'
'But-'
'Ah! No take-backsies!' I pushed as I gave Shū, who was sitting next to me on the floor, another piece of my cake. He took it with a grateful smile. I sat back up straight and took another sip of my cocoa.
'By the way, Megan. Sun's told me a lot about you. He says you have the strongest bond with your Pokemon than any trainer he's met-'
I choked on my drink, coughing into my hand as I placed the mug back on the table. 'I don't know about that.' I finally croaked, placing my hand on my chest. 'I'm just a regular old trainer.'
Sun snorted. 'Hun you are anything but that. You're strong, flexible, and in sync with your Pokemon whenever you battle. I'd say that's pretty special.'
I laughed without humour. 'And yet I still can't beat Hau.'
'So?'
'Hau, Sun. The boy who literally is the embodiment of happiness. Don't you think that says something?'
'Yea, it says Hau does a great job at being an Island Kahuna.'
I rolled my eyes before going back to drinking my Tapu-Cocoa 'Whatever... I still say I'm not special.'
'Wanna test that theory?'
'Bring it!'
'You. Me. Battle. Now!'
'Battling the champion? Wow that's really gonna help!'
Sun opened his mouth to speak, but instead breathed through his teeth. 'Just do it...'
'Fine. But only if I can battle Leven too.' I stated, pointing at the blue haired boy. He seemed to be off guard by my words.
'What? That hardly seems fair, two against one would not be a balanced battle.' He argued, tweaking his glasses. I thought about this for a moment, before coming to a conclusion and snapping my fingers.
'Why don't we have a tag battle?'
For those who don't know, a tag battle is a battle with two trainers on each side. They may use one Pokemon each, and each side must work together to defeat both opponents. The last team standing wins.
'That seems logical.' Leven agreed, once again pushing his glasses up. 'But who will be on your team?'
I smirked, before pulling out my phone. 'Leave that to me.'
(Another timeskip)
'Where is he?' I groaned, staring at my phone for the hundredth time.
'Is this guy usually late?' Leven asked, raising an eyebrow.
'Not usually. But it's his day off...' I sighed, rolling my eyes.
'There he is!' Sun suddenly said, pointing at a figure who was running towards us. Guess who.
Yup. Edgelord.
'Hey guys.' Gladion panted as he stopped in front of us, bending over and holding his knees. I puffed my cheeks in Irritation.
'Oh hey Edgelord. Oh it's okay, we totally forgive you for being five minutes late.'
His head shot up as he frowned 'What? I am not!'
'Oh I'm sorry, 4 minutes and 47 seconds.. 48.. 49.'
'Megan!' Gladion hissed. 'I didn't come all the this way just so you could give me sass!'
'Oh, right.' I grabbed his arm, dragging him towards Leven 'Gladion, Leven. Leven, Gladion. Okay now we have introductions out the way, let's battle!'
Gladion sighed. 'Why'd you ask me to do this again?'
'Well my first option was to ask Matthew, because he's stronger. But he and Lizzy are taking our place at Aether for today so I went for my last resort. You.'
Gladion's eyes narrowed as he scoffed at me and crossed his arms. 'Wow, babe, love you too.'
I laughed, making him raise an eyebrow.
'What's so funny?'
'Hey I'm Gladion and I can't go five seconds without being edgy.' I giggled, mimicking his voice and even doing his pose.
'I don't sound like that!' Gladion defended.
'I don't sound like that!' I continued, snorting at the end.
Gladion pinched the bridge of his nose and huffed. 'Arceus, you're a pain.'
'Oh hush, you love me.'
'Do I?'
'Mhmm'
'Darn she's right.' he muttered, making me smile. 'For once.' he added.
'Hey!'
'Guys!' sun suddenly yelled, getting our attention. 'The battle?'
'Oh yeah, sorry...' Gladion and I said in sync, before we all headed to the battlefield behind the Pokemon Center.
This is gonna be good.
A/N: Slightly shorter chapter today, sorry about that. But as you can tell there's going to be a battle next chapter, which I'll try to make as action packed as possible.
Also, it looks like Sun may have a crush on this Leven character. Is it a ship meant to be or not?
Btw Leven looks like this
Okey I'm done, bye
