Chapter 24: They snap

(Sun POV)

'Oh, hey Sun.' Lillie smiled as she opened the door, slightly surprised to find me outside her house. 'Oh, and Leven. Nice to see you both.'

'Great to see you too, Lillie.' I grin, stuffing my hands into my pockets 'How are things?'

She continues to smile, but it seems rather awkward this time 'Things are great with most of us.'

'Most of you?' Leven raised an eyebrow.

'Yeah... Things aren't so great with Megan and Gladion...' She explained, playing with a strand of her hair.

I grew slightly concerned 'Why? What happened?'

'They had a fight...'

'I know. I was there and it wasn't that big of-'

'No I mean after that. After you took Megan to her room.'

'...Oh.'

Leven and I exchanged glances, wondering what to do about this. Leven once again turned to Lillie 'Where are they now.'

'Um, I think they're in the lounge.' She stated, pointing over her shoulder.

'May we see them.'

'Of course.'

Lillie stepped aside to let us in, closing the door behind us once we entered. The three of us made our way down the hall to where the living room was, only to find Gladion there. He was sitting on the couch, completely engrossed in the book he was reading. But... Where was Megan?

'I'm back...' A monotone voice said, and Megan walked in with two glasses in her hand. She handed one to Gladion, who hadn't looked up from his book. 'Here...'

He hummed in response and went to take a sip, only for his eyebrows to furrow in confusion. He looked at the glass, causing his brows to knit together.

'Megan, why is it empty?' He asked the girl, who had sat herself on the other end of the couch a meter away from him. She took a sip of her drink before giving him a bored glance.

'Oh, my bad did you want the drink too?' She asked with the slightest amount of smug. Gladion growled.

'That's what I asked for, wasn't it?'

'Nope. When I said I was going to get a drink of water you said 'may I have a glass?' And that's what I got you. Don't blame me for your poor choice of words.'

Damn... Smartass.

Gladion 'tch'd before going back to his book 'You can be such a b*tch sometimes...'

'Oh I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you with your HEAD ALL THE WAY UP YOUR A**!'

Okay this is way worse than I thought it would be. They can't even stay within a meter of each other, Megan is literally leaning over the couch's arm. I looked over to Leven who had his lips pursed together. I bet he was thinking the same thing. He turned to me and mouthed 'what should we do?'

'I don't know' I mouthed back.

'Oh, hey guys.' We heard someone say 'How long have you been standing there?'

We turned our heads to see Megan staring at us. She seemed to now be her usual chilled self.

'Oh, just a couple of minutes.' Lillie answered 'We wanted to see how you two were doing.'

'Why?' Gladion asked, looking up from his book again and raising an eyebrow at us.

'Well... We wanted to see if you two were 'okay''

The two furrowed their eyebrows at the girl, perhaps due to the way she said the word 'okay'.

'Can you clarify that further?' her brother spoke again.

'I mean with your relationship.'

'Oh...' Both of them squinted, and began glaring at each other from the corner of their eyes. 'We're good.'

What's with them saying the exact same thing at the exact same time?

'Are you sure?' Lillie tilted her head, probably thinking the same thing as me.

'Yes'

'There's no tension between you two?'

'No'

Okay that's really starting to creep me out...

I tried thinking of a way to release some tension between them, since it was making the rest of us feel extremely awkward. 'Hey, uh, isn't that the couch I caught you guys making out on.'

WOOOOW! Trying to make the situation less awkward, HUH?

Gladion and Megan stared directly at me with wide eyes. 'Where'd that come from?' Gladion asked.

'It's just kinda weird you're so far apart now, when not too long ago you were exchanging saliva.' I shrugged. Shut up shut up shut up!

Megan scrunched up her nose 'It was only a makeout session, Sun!' She said rather loudly.

'Is someone on her period~?'

'I can't be on my period, Sun! I'm pregnant for f*ck sake!' She strained on the word 'pregnant'.

'Why did you strain?' Leven asked, as if reading my thoughts.

'I didn't.'

'Um, yes you did.'

'Did I strain, Frenchfry?' She asked Gladion with narrowed eyes.

'Nope.' He replied, popping the 'p'. He didn't look up from his book. Megan turned back to us.

'There, see? He knows.'

'I don't think he's really listening...' Lillie frowned.

'He never does.'

'That's bull!' Gladion snapped, slamming shut the book and glaring at his 'girlfriend'.

'Oh yeah? Then why didn't you just drop the subject when I told you to?! Maybe then you wouldn't have that wound on your shoulder!' She yelled back.

'Well maybe it's your fault for your lack of self control!'

'You don't like my lack of self control? Well I hate your lack of letting things go!'

'At least I don't turn into a savage beast that turns on its trainer! Twice may I add!'

'DON'T YOU DARE!'

Megan punched the coffee table in front of her, forming a slight dent in the wood. She kept her eyes on Gladion, who stared back in utter shock. She was breathing heavily as she continued.

'Don't you dare call me a savage, Aether. You know the first time wasn't within my control, and the second... You know me well enough to know I don't appreciate being provoked and I can't control my anger. If you think that's savage, then I suppose we don't know each other as well as we thought we did.' She got up and began to leave 'I gotta go... There's a school trip at the paradise today which I have to host. And I don't want to scare the kids from anger, due to some d*ckless d*ck not knowing when to keep his damn mouth shut. I'm going to cool down, so no one follow me.'

Everyone watched her leave except Gladion, who was staring at the dent that was made. He seemed completely frozen, apart from his hands which were shaking uncontrollably. Lillie stepped in front of Leven and I with a serious expression.

'Let's leave him alone.' She told us.

'Is he going to be okay?' Leven asked her. Her eyes fell to the ground.

'He... He's having a flashback... It's best we leave him alone.'

'Why? Do they have a physical effect on him?'

Lillie and I exchanged glances. We knew exactly what they do to him. At first he seems frozen, then his hands began to shake, followed by his entire body, then he begins gripping his head, followed by screams, which last from fifteen minutes to half an hour, and finally he falls to the ground unconscious. I don't blame Lillie for wanting us all to leave. It was a horrid thing to watch, especially if it's happening to someone you care about.

I sighed, and took Leven's hand 'Let's just give him space, hun. He's gonna need it.'

Hesitantly, he agreed and followed me out of the room. Lillie closed the door behind us and followed. Not ten seconds later we hear the platinum haired boy's whimpering.

Hang in there...

(Gladion POV)

Flashback (Abuse and violence will be coming up. I advised you skip this part if you're uncomfortable or easily triggered)

'Don't hurt her!'

I stood in front of my sister protectively, ready to endure anything my mother throws at us. The adult in front of us cackles evilly, her emerald eyes glowing in the darkness.

'Oh you want to play too, hmm Gladion~?' She chirped 'Well that's fine by me. You both need to be taught a lesson anyway. You've become pretty ugly lately, and mommy really hates that.' He smile turns into a scowl 'Ugly things don't deserve my love!'

She grabbed my sister and I by the hair and began pulling us to the front room. It hurt so much. My scalp burned as the tugging continued, and tears soon formed in my eyes. Lillie was crying out in pain, which seemed to pleasure our mother. We made it to the room, and mother immediately threw us to the ground. Our backs collided into the coffee table, making Lillie scream and me bite back my cries. Mother smirked evilly at us.

'I remember when you used to love playing with my Pokemon, kids~'

No

'Let's do that now, shall we? Let's make new memories.'

'N-No...' Lillie choked out. Mother glared at her.

'Hm? What was that, girl?'

'Don't- don't do i-'

We were cut off as mother's fist came down between the two of us and smashed into the table, leaving a dent.

'How dare you talk back to your mother!' She spat. Lillie was now sobbing, while I was frozen from fear. Mother then giggled 'I think this calls for a time out. Oh Lilligant~'

She tossed a pokeball, letting out the grass-type we used to love playing with.

'Vine whip.' Mother ordered coldly.

The next thing I remember is intense pain hitting me over and over again.

End of flashback

I fall to my knees, holding my head and screaming out to get this memory out of my head. It did nothing.

'LEAVE ME ALONE! STOP HAUNTING ME, YOU WITCH!'

My screaming continued for the next twenty minutes, until everything went black.

(Megan POV)

I stand in our gym, repeatedly punching the punching bag in front of me with my bandaged up hands. This was normal whenever I was seriously upset over something, I let everything out through anger. Hence why we have the gym in the first place.

'HIYAAH!' I kicked the bag, accidently breaking the chain and sending it into a nearby wall. I yell out in annoyance and crouch down, gripping my hair with one hand.

'Damn me and my f*cking anger!' I scream 'If it weren't for that then-'

I stop myself as memories of last night came to my head. Most of it was a blur, up until when I-... I attacked Gladion.

Flashback

'You're too careful!'

'You aren't careful enough!'

Gladion and I continued to argue back and forth, fists and jaws clenched as we glared daggers at each other.

'Your mother isn't evil! Not anymore at least!'

'How can you be sure? How can you even be sure about your family?!'

'I just am, Gladion!'

'Oh really? Then what if you find out your father's not dead, huh?! Will you think he's still evil?'

'That's different!'

'How?!'

'He hasn't been stopped! He hasn't been reformed!'

'Well maybe my mother hasn't actually been reformed either! What if she's pretending! In fact, what if both our parents are pretending?!'

'Gladio-'

'I bet they're working together! They're messing with our minds! They're blinding you with their lies!'

'Shut up...'

'You know I'm right! What would you do if you were in my shoes? You'd be skeptical of your mother too!'

'Shut up.'

'Well, guess what! That's what's happening! If you've seen mother the way I've seen you'd feel the same!'

'Shut up!'

'No! I'll make you understand that things are in fact black and white! Mother's evil! Your fathers evil! It's really not hard to under-'

'SHUT UP!'

I lunge towards him, unaware what I was doing, and aim to attack his chest. I hadn't noticed I had transformed until I was three inches away from him. I twist my body as much as I can to dodge him, only grazing his shoulder as I flew right past him. I crashed into our desk, causing many things to fall and break. Gladion grips his shoulder in pain as he stares at me wide eyed. I transform back into a human and slide off the desk and onto my feet. Somehow I wasn't injured. Even if I was I wouldn't care, since I'm overcome with guilt.

'Why...' Gladion trailed off 'Why would you...?'

'Gladion I didn't mean to...'

'Get out.'

'Wha-'

'OUT, ARTEMUS!'

I shrunk back in fear. His coldness left me in complete shock. But, anger soon took over again as I glared back. 'Fine...'

I stormed out, questioning our entire relationship for the first time.

End of flashback

'I thought you knew I'd never intentionally hurt you... did you not mean what you said?' I asked no one in particular, tears were rolling down my face. 'am I a fool for believing your words?'
