After Story: Marry me

(Megan POV)

What am I doing?

I had been staring at the closet for almost fifteen minutes now, not moving an inch as I debated on whether to dress up tonight or not. Gladion hadn't said it was a date, so it could just be us having one of our 'us' nights. However, there was a chance he was going to dress up, and if I didn't, I'd look sloppy compared to him. But if I dressed up and he didn't, I'd look extra as and...

Is this what teenage girls go through every day? It feels like it.

I scoffed, falling back on the bed and crossing my arms. "Stupid vague Edgelord..."

With a sigh I reached for Prince's pokeball and called him out. He sat next to me on the bed and eyed me suspiciously.

'You look happy.' he commented sarcastically.

I turned over so my back faced him "I'm annoyed."

'Why's that?'

"My boyfriend said he'd take me out, but didn't give me any information."

'Sounds like Gladion. So what are you stressing about right now?'

"What I should wear."

'Oh Arceus. You aren't becoming 'normal', are you?'

"I hope not." I sat up, running a hand through my hair "I just don't know whether to go for dressy or casual..."

'Did he say it was a date?'

"No. Well... not exactly.".

'Huh? Megan it's a yes or no question.'

"I know but..." I sighed "He didn't say it was a date, but he did say he wanted to do something special. I'm not sure what to think, or what to do."

'Or what to wear.'

"Not helping, mister!"

'Sorry... Why not go between casual and classy?'

"...Wut?"

'Ya know, dressing up to look nice, but not to the extent of too nice for everyday clothing. Subtle, not too obvious. Kinda like what Olivia wears.'

"Yeah no, I am not wearing booty shorts. Or a crop top... or anything pink--"

'Okay I get it! It was just an example...' Prince sighed, thinking for a moment before glancing at the closet. He stood and jumped off the bed 'Stay there for a moment.'

I watched in confusion as my partner jumped into the piece of furniture and began sniffing around my clothing. His rings lit up whenever he found something that interested him, but I couldn't see what they were. Soon he came back out, carrying two pieces of clothing over his back.

He jumped back onto the bed and shook them off 'Try these with a pair of black tights, your red converse and a choker of choice.'

I stared at the clothes for a moment, blinking twice before smirking at the dark type "Since when were you an expert with outfits?"

He blushed, instantly averting his gaze 'I hung out with Luxray and Dana a lot during your absence. I guess I picked it up from them- well, Dana mostly. You know how much Lillie loves clothes.'

I hummed and grabbed the clothing from the bed, which turned out to be a black tank top, red plaid skirt and a thin black belt, and headed for the bathroom "Lemme go try this on. If I know anything about my wardrobe it's that I usually dress like a hobo. Either that or I'm in man clothes."

'Yeah, I still don't get why you do that.'

"The shirts are comfortable and loose, and the jackets actually have pockets!"

'...Forget I asked.'

(Gladion POV)

"How do you even put this on?!"

I scowled at the my reflection in the mirror, fumbling with the piece of black fabric as I attempted tie it properly. I noticed the guys, meaning Sun, Hau, Luke, Guzma, even Avory and Ein, were snickering at me from the other side of the room. I glared at them.

"It's not funny."

"I think you'll find it is." Luke argued, holding a fist to his mouth to stifle another chuckle. Great. I'm being made fun of by my future brother in-law. I growled, my fingernails digging into the material.

Avory leaned back on his hands, smirking as he raised an eyebrow "How is it that you don't know how to do ties? Didn't you wear one to Luke and Ashley's wedding?"

My eyes widened. I glanced to the side with red cheeks, suddenly finding a desk lamp to be the most interesting thing in the world "My, uh... mom tied it for me..."

Ein and Sun were done. They fell backwards onto the bed, howling with laughter as they clutched their stomachs.

"Your mom?!" The older one blurted "And you're what, 18?!"

"Hey I don't see you doing any better!" I snapped back, giving them a look intended to kill. With a snarl I threw the tie to the side, and it landed right on Hau's head "That's it! I'm not wearing the tie! I'm being extra enough as it is!"

"I mean, you are proposing." Hau pointed out, pulling the fabric from his face.

My eye twitched "No, really? Thanks for the update!"

"Woah, kid, chill." Guzma advised, making 'calm down' motions with his hands "At this rate, you'll be too agitated to even wear clothes for this."

I scoffed. Like that was gonna happen... Still, I took a large breath through my nose.

"It's just... This is a big thing, you know?"

"I totally get it." The team skull boss sighed "And I'm sure I'd be just as nervous if it was me proposing to Rose. But you gotta remember; Stressing is gonna make the situation harder than it's gotta be. You gotta loosen up more, like me!"

"Yeah, the day I start acting like you is the day I pull my pants down to my crotch, bleach my hair and apply purple eyeshadow. Walking around Alola with my shoulders raised to my ears, yelling 'It's ya boi!' to eleven year olds."

His mouth dropped open, clearly offended "You little..."

"Woah woah, chill out!" Sun yelled, standing between us with his arms outstretched "Seriously Gladion, you need to calm down. Your hand's twitching again."

Shit...

I put my hand on my shaking wrist, hoping to cease the trembling slightly as I glanced off to the side. Sun sighed, walking towards me and placing a hand on my shoulder.

"Are you sure you can do this, Gladion...?"

"No..." I sighed "But I know I want to."

"Then focus on that." Luke spoke up, causing us all to turn to him "Instead of focusing on how you look, and what could happen. Just think about the life you want with her. Remember what I told you?"

"That we love each other no matter what, even if she's not ready?"

"Exactly that. Don't be scared of rejection, because it won't be over if she says no."

Avory smiled, clapping him on the shoulder "Spoken like a true husband. And you know, he's right. Even I can see that, and I'm sure Ein does too."

I turned my head to the said boy "That true?"

He glanced off to the side, cheeks tinted slightly pink from embarrassment "A little..."

"Of course they see it!" Guzma laughed, holding a finger gun to his head "Even an idiot can!"

"If you can see it I'll deem that true."

"Damn, do ya have it out for me today or somethin'?!"

I smirked "A little."

He growled.

"But, in all seriousness, thank you guys." I gave a small smile "I'm glad you're all here to help me through this... Even you, Hau."

The boy laughed, rubbing the back of his neck "I guess that's a semi-compliment..."

I chuckled, before slapping my cheeks and facing the mirror again "I can do this... I'm going to do this..."

"That's the spirit!" Luke cheered, holding his fist out in front of him.

"So..." Avory coughed "You still gonna wear the tie or--"

"No."

(Megan POV)

I let out a sigh, placing my hairbrush on the chest of drawers before staring at myself in the mirror. Despite it still covering my eye, this was the tidiest my hair had been since the wedding. I had on the outfit Prince picked out for me, and to be honest I actually looked decent for once. I wasn't even bothered by the fact my scar was mostly visible now, and that's saying something.

I gave myself a small smile in the mirror, before hearing my phone buzz on the bed. I made my way over and picked it up, unlocking it and selecting the text. It was from Gladion.

Gladion:

Okay so this may sound a bit weird, but could you head to the room we had our first real talk in. You know, when I met the real you for the first time. There's something waiting there for you.

I raised an eyebrow. What? Why would he want me to meet there?

Cautiously I walked out of the room and closed the door, making my way to the room he mentioned. Coincidently, it was now Emilee's nursery, which made it even more confusing to why he wanted me to go there. And... something there waiting for me? What on earth could he mean?

Regardless, I soon found myself outside the door. With a sigh I turned the handle and pushed it open. I knew for a fact Emilee wasn't in there, as she was out for the day with Ashley, her sister and her wife. As well as their little son, Antonio. This meant I could enter without the worry of interrupting the kid's nap time.

I poked my head through the crack in the door, examining the nursery with an eyebrow raised. The lights were off, meaning the rays of light from the sunset shining through the curtains were the only thing illuminating the the room. It was quiet and empty, which is what you'd expect, with a few pokedolls and toys sprawled across the violet rug in the middle. To be honest, the only thing that seemed out of place was--

Wait...

"Silvally?!" I gasped, opening the door fully and staring at my boyfriend's pokemon with wide eyes. Silvally remained still, sitting in the middle of the room as he maintained eye contact with me. After a minute of staring he rolled his eyes and motioned for me to approach with his head. I did hesitantly, soon noticing the paper in his mouth. "Is... That for me?"

He nodded and extended his neck, dropping the paper into my hand to allow me to examine it. Now I was more confused than ever.

I opened the paper up and averted my gaze from Silvally, finally realising it was a note. I began to read what was written.

Hey babe. I know this must be kind of confusing for you right now... And I know how much you hate suspense, but I wanted to take you on a bit of a journey before our date actually starts.

I scoffed slightly, a small smile tugging at my lips

So, the room you're in right now, it represents the first night we truly saw eye to eye. It's rather special to me in that light, and I hope it is to you too.

Anyway, this note serves as your next clue. Remember the day you told me about your family? Well, that's where you're going next. Aether Paradise. Good luck

~Gladion

I let out a chuckle, rolling my eyes before looking up at Silvally again "Leave it to him to send me on a Ducklett chase, huh?"

He smirked, nodding.

Christ, Gladion...

I had been at this for nearly an hour. And although I loved revisiting the moments we had with each other, I was starting to get a little bit tired. Thank Arceus I wasn't wearing heels!

So anyway, the next note I received was from a Corsola; the same one I played with the day I told Gladion about my family, which told me to head for the docks of Aether. There was a boat waiting for me, along with Wicke who held my next clue. It reminded me of when we ran away together, starting our partnership before telling me to head for Gladion's old motel room. Wicke drove me to Route 8 by boat, to which I thanked her for before heading for the motel. For some reason the owner already knew I was coming and gave me the key immediately. When I let myself in, Crobat was waiting for me with the next clue. Seeing him there reminded me of when he, Gladion and I used to live in that room together in the good old days. The clue told me to head for route 11, which contained the note given to me by Laura's Mimikyu. It was the route I battled the so called mysterious 'L' and evolved. I then made my way to the nearest Pokemon center, where I was greeted by none other than Prince. He gave me the note vocally this time, telling me of the night Gladion and I saved him and brought him to a center just like this one. It was also the night Gladion confessed. He accompanied me to the next location, seeming to be the last, which was where we heading to now.

I gasped, noticing Edge waiting for us at the bottom of a hill. I knew I recognised it, but from where?

When I reached my Silvally Prince ran ahead, going to the top of the hill and leaving us for some reason. I sighed before giving Edge a smirk, placing my hands on my hips "So this is where you've been?"

A sound resembling a chuckle emitted from her throat. She extended her head to me, allowing me to take the note and read it.

You're almost there. All you gotta do now is hop on Edge's back and ride up here. You'll see why soon enough

~Gladion

Well... At least I didn't have to walk up there...

With a small eye roll I asked Edge for permission to get on her back, to which she granted without hesitation. It was a little harder to get on with a skirt, but I managed. And soon, I was clinging onto Edge's fur as she ran to the top of the hill. It seemed to get more and more familiar the further we got.

And soon, I realised why.

We reached the top, revealing the cliff overlooking the ocean... The sun as it almost completely disappeared from the horizon... The gorgeous sky as the stars began to come out...

And most of all... My boyfriend standing a few feet away with one of his rare genuine smiles, wearing a dark red dress shirt, black pants and shiny black shoes. He stood there, watching as I slid off Edge's back with his hands stuffed into his pockets. His hair flowed in the breeze slightly, allowing me to see both of his beautiful emerald eyes.

I slowly made my way over until I was right in front of him, and he followed me with his eyes the whole way.

"Hey." He murmured.

I nodded in response, before allowing my eyes to travel around the area "This place... It's..."

"It's the place we had our first date." Gladion reached down and grabbed my hand, his thumb rubbing across my skin as he continued to smile down at me "And it's where we'll be having this one, too."

Tears formed in my eyes "I can't believe you remembered... I can't believe you remembered all of this stuff..."

He chuckled softly and held my hand up, placing a gentle kiss on the back of it "Of course I did. Every moment with you is worth remembering."

He led me to the edge of the cliff before turning around, pointing to where we had previously been. I glanced over, only to find Edge, Silvally and Prince standing in our place. And, for some reason, Edge was in her water typing and Silvally in fire.

I briefly saw Gladion nod from the corner of my eye, before gasping as the two Silvally launched a multi attack into the sky. At the same time Prince used psychic, taking control of the two moves and using them for some sort of display. They coiled around each other like a pair of Ekans, forming a blue and red spiral that hovered above the three Pokemon. The Silvally duo jumped up into the air and used Crush Claw, slicing through the spiral multiple times and causing it to explode into thousands of sparkles.

I watched in awe, clapping as the Pokemon took a bow before turning to Gladion "Did you teach them that?"

He nodded sheepishly "I may have done some research... They have these things called contests in other regions, that I heard about in Sinnoh, which deemed to be useful... Did you like it?"

"Of course!"

"Good," He took my hand again and led me to the middle of the area "Because now we've set the stage."

He nodded over to Prince, who was now next to a small stereo, and he pressed play. Soon after, Perfect by Ed Sheeran filled the area.

"May I have this dance?" Gladion asked softly, placing his hands on my waist. I blushed at his gentle stare, but wrapped my arms around his neck in response.

"You may..."

We began to sway along to the music, enjoying each others embrace as we continued to stare into one another's eyes. I didn't want to look away from their gorgeous green colour. The way they sparkled with the reflection of the stars was breathtaking, magical even. I felt safe in his arms, just like I always have. I couldn't even remember what it was like to be away from his touch anymore. Because that's all it was. A distant memory.

Gladion extended his arm out, holding my hand before rolling me back into his chest. He rested his chin on top of my head, while I buried my face into his chest. It vibrated as he hummed along to the music, causing me to remember how I loved hearing him sing. I loved every part of him. His perks, his flaws, his style, even his hair... I wouldn't have him any other way.

I began to remember everything that happened this year. Good and bad. Lillie's return to Alola, our trip to the beach, Sun meeting Leven, Hau and Lillie's first date, my family name exposed, the pregnancy, the kidnappings, Gladion and I... falling out, me snapping and ending up being captured, getting my family back, the miscarriage, Leven's downfall, meeting my father, Gladion saving me from dying... twice, bringing down the A.L.I, Luke and Ashley's wedding, Gladion's Ultra Beast experience... It was four years ago crazy, all over again!

However, we survived. We all made it through, happier than ever.

And here we were... Dancing in the dark, in each other's arms. I know I'm quoting the song we're dancing to, but it's so convenient. So much so that I think he planned it.

However, the song was slowly coming to an end.

"I don't deserve this, you look perfect tonight..." Gladion sang, pressing his palm against my cheek and lifting my face up to meet his eyes. I placed my hand on his, leaning into his touch and staring lovingly up at him.

"Megan?" He whispered.

"Yes?"

"Marry me."

I just stood there, still in his arms, trying to process what just rolled off his tongue. I let out a shaky breath as his hands slid down my arms, taking both of mine and holding them tightly. My eyes widened, watching as he took a deep breath to prepare himself.

"Megan... " He started, eyes gentle as they didn't avert from mine "I can't imagine a life without you. As a Type:Null, you were my first friend and partner. But as a human, you were my first and only love. We've had our ups and downs, but we pulled through..." His cheeks became redder throughout his speech "I love you more than anything in this world. You taught me what love truly meant. You helped me get stronger. And... You brought my family back. I never want to let you go, not as long as I live..."

Slowly he got down on one knee and pulled out a small red box, opening the lid to reveal a ring...

"So... Megan Artemus... Will you do me the greatest honour, of becoming my wife?"

Is this real? Am I dreaming?

My hands came up to my mouth, tears dropping down onto the grass as I stared into Gladion's loving eyes. Without thinking twice I nodded, sniffling as I gave him the best smirk I could with my quivering lip.

"I thought you'd never ask..."

Gladion wasted no time in standing up, pulling me into his arms and pressing his lips against mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck in return, our lips moving in perfect sync under the moonlight.

This is without a doubt, the happiest moment of my life...

And I'm sure there's more to come, with my amazing edgy fiance by my side...

...

That's gonna take some getting used to.
