Remus
"Are you sure you aren't lost?" I asked Lily for the fifth time. She smacked my arm.
"Yes I'm sure. Google Maps is seldom wrong. And this is the address James sent me."
She pulled up to a huge, fancy looking house. I bit my lip, nervous. What if this is the wrong house? What if we weren't even on the right street?
Lily notes my anxiety. "See look, it's James's van."
Sure enough, James's ugly blue van was in the driveway. Why he had a van when he could obviously afford something nicer was beyond me, but I was sure he had his reasons.
The front door opened as we were getting out of the car and James and Sirius flew down the front steps to greet us.
Sirius ran to me, picking me up and spinning me around. I squealed and grabbed his face in my hands, planting a kiss on his lips.
He set me down and a wrapped my arms around his waist and buried my face in his neck.
"I missed you," I murmured. Sirius kissed the top of my head, ruffling my curls.
"I missed you too, Moons. I take it your holiday didn't go well?"
I shook my head. "I'll tell you about it later."
Sirius smiled. "Let's go meet Mum and Dad and Regulus. We can bring your things later."
Sirius took my hand and together we walked to the front door, James and Lily walking a few paces ahead of us. The front door opened again, and there stood a woman who I assumed to be James's mum.
"Come in, come in," she said. I could tell she was eyeing my nasal cannula, but I returned her warm smile anyway.
When we got inside the house, I was instantly overwhelmed by the vastness of the space. Though it was very big and nice, it felt warm and cozy. I associated the feeling with James's vibes. James just generally gave off a cozy, homey vibe and so did his house.
Mrs. Potter smiled. "You must be Lily, hi," she said, holding her arms out for a moment, sort of silently asking Lily for permission to hug her. They embraced before she turned to me.
"And you must be Remus," she did the same to me, and I let her hug me, relishing in the feeling of being held by a mother.
Mr. Potter smiled kindly and shook Lily's hand and then my own.
I thought we were done with introductions, but then a teenager came out of the kitchen. He had black wavy hair that was cut just above his ears and icy blue eyes. His facial structure reminded me of Sirius, though he was much taller than his brother.
"Hi," the teenager said shyly, "I'm Regulus."
"Hi Regulus. I'm Lily, James's girlfriend," Lily said, offering her hand. Regulus shook it with a shy smile.
He turned to me next. "And you must be Remus. Sirius has told me a lot about you."
I blushed and shook Regulus's hand. After that, everyone went back out to Lily's car to help bring our things inside. We'd be staying until New Year's day.
Mr. Potter was handed my G-tube/IV stand and he looked at it in confusion.
"What the hell is this?" He asked, innocently curious. Mrs. Potter slapped his arm. I laughed.
"It's my G-tube. So I can get all my calories."
Mr. Potter nodded, satisfied, and hauled it up to Sirius's bedroom. Mrs. Potter's arms were loaded with my bin of medications, which she set on the counter in the kitchen.
James had both my bag and Lily's slung over his shoulder and he brought them both upstairs.
Sirius grabbed my vest and other medical things and brought them inside and Lily grabbed the few remaining things from her car.
It was two days before Christmas, so we'd be staying for ten days. Lily and I entered the house with Regulus as everyone was coming down the stairs from carrying up our things.
Mrs. Potter called out that supper was almost ready and yelled at James to help his father set the table. I padded into the kitchen with Sirius and started sorting out all my meds.
I could feel Mrs. Potter watching me, but I didn't acknowledge her. Sirius fetched me a glass of water and I started downing them all. I left a few of the ones that had to be take with food and brought them with me to the table where Regulus and Lily were already sitting.
James and Mr. Potter finished setting the table and sat down as Mrs. Potter came from the kitchen with dinner and set it on the table.
Mr. Potter dished out servings and we sat around their big table and laughed and talked. I noticed that Regulus has impeccable posture and manners. But then I realized that somedays, so does Sirius.
When dinner was almost over, I asked for my third helping.
"You must be very hungry, young man," Mr. Potter said with a chuckle.
I'd warmed up to these people at this point so I wasn't as shy. "It's delicious, but I'm honestly not that hungry anymore. I just haven't eaten much today and I have to keep my weight up."
Mr. Potter nodded and I forced down the food.
After dinner, we all retired to our separate rooms. James and Lily retreated behind a door and Sirius showed me to his bedroom. Apparently, Sirius has already warned Mr. and Mrs. Potter about my need to sleep with Sirius due to health risks. It wasn't entirely true, but I wasn't complaining. Lily has her own guest bedroom, but Mr. and Mrs. Potter were way on the other side of the house, so I didn't think they would abide by those rules.
Sirius led me inside and waved around at the walls. They were decorated in such a Sirius fashion that I knew the room was his even if he hadn't told me. There were pictures of motorbikes on the walls and Gryffindor insignias.
Sirius smiled shyly, kicking a stuffed black dog under his bed. "Well, welcome to my room. This is basically where I grew up."
I took it all in. "I didn't move in until I was 16, but I'd had my own bedroom since the third grade. I love Euphemia and Fleamont like they're my own parents. They're better than my own parents. And they love me like a son."
I nodded, a lump forming in my throat. We were in similar situations when we were younger, neglected my our real parents and getting taken in my our best friends.
Sirius noticed my silence and crossed the room, taking my hands in his.
"I talked to my mom last night," I said quietly. Sirius raised an eyebrow and led me over to his bed and we sat down.
"Did it go okay? You sound upset. What did she say?" Sirius's asked, eyes wide with concern.
"It wasn't a long talk," I said, the lump rising in my throat making it harder and harder to speak. "She just...said some things. Horrible things. About my choice in career. And about me being gay. I just feel so horrible after talking to her, Sirius," I said. I felt some of the same emotions from when I broke down on Lily the day before.
Sirius kissed my hand, rubbing circles with his thumb. He understood.
"It sucks when the people that are supposed to love us don't," He said. I nodded. Sirius smiled. "Let's get ready for bed, yeah?"
I nodded again and followed Sirius out of his room to brush my teeth. Once I got my G-tube set up and took my nighttime pills, we crawled into bed and fell asleep.
