1. The Day I Met Her

I, Historia Reiss, never thought my life would change drastically all of a sudden. It all began three years ago when I lost something and gained something. That thing I gained was Ymir.

Three years ago...
Historia's POV

The long boring school day at Sina Junior High began, making some students want to jump out a three story building. But for me, everyday was me getting compliments, hugs and many other things.

I wore my blue navy colored shirt which is kinda like a pullover, but not really, with my pleated navy colored skirt with a red sash on my neck. My blond hair was let loose. Its straight and perfect in every single way (that's what everyone says at least). It was held back with a couple of bobby pins so my hair could be out of my face.

I walked alone, holding my bag and lunch (which my drug and alcoholic addicted mother made. No she wasn't high. Well... I don't think so at least.) Into the school building.

I walked in and put on my indoor shoes and grabbed the pile of love letters that were inside my locker (I later counted at least 25 letters, most of them asking me to be their girlfriend and/or wife. I declined all of them, since I'm not aloud to date yet. Nor do I wanna get married.) and neatly put them in my bag.

I walked up the stairs to the second floor, and walked into Class 3-1A, where I sat in the back of the room next to the window. (Cliche much?) I put my bag on my desk and took out a book to read. I was a model student, with perfect grades, with the nicest attitude and the look of an angel.

Then, my friend Gertrude walked into class. She wasn't as popular as me, but she was a very nice girl. She had her black hair held back in two braids, with only two thin pieces of hair were in her face. She wore the same uniform as me, and was looking very tired.

She yawned "Morning Historia. Why aren't you tired? That Math homework was diff-i-cult."

I giggled. "I thought it was easy."

Her mouth dropped open in shock.

"Close your mouth, Gertrude. You'll catch flies." I said.

Using her hand, she closed her mouth shut.

"I should've expected that from you, Historia." She said with a giggle.

The homeroom teacher, Mr. H (We don't know his full name, so we call him Mr. H), walked in and asked everyone to go to their seats. Gertrude waved to me and walked to her seat in the front.

Mr. H started taking attendance, and the long school day began.

~Time skip~ After-school

I walked into the girls bathroom with Gertrude, to change into regular clothes.

"Don't take too long, Gertrude." I said with a chuckle.

Gertrude rolled her eyes. " Right back at ya, Historia."

I slid the stall door open and closed it.

I threw of my uniform and threw them in my bag, and pulled out a knee-length orange-and-green dress, a white apron, and pantyhose.

I threw them on, and stepped out of the stall. Gertrude wasn't out yet. "I win." I said aloud. Gertrude dragged out an ugh.

She stepped out in the same outfit and heaved a sigh. "Let's go before we get fired."

I nodded my head and letted ourselves out to grab our stuff and ran to the bus stop, only to find out that the bus wasn't there.

"We missed it again." I wheezed. Asthma and I don't get along.

"It's fine," Gertrude said. "Let's go through the alleyway, it's quicker than calling your addict-probably drunk-high-sleeping mother." She said. I nodded my head in response.

We walked for about ten minutes until we came across something.

Blood.

Fresh Blood.

Gertrude covered her mouth, while I tiptoed over to see what it was.

There was a regular sized woman who was thin, kind of young looking with shoulder length blonde hair. She was only wearing a black laced bra and underwear, both pink. She had three stab wounds in the chest, and stretch marks that looked about thirteen years old.

I froze.

"Mom..." I whispered. I dropped to my knees and screamed.

"What is it Histo-" Gertrude started to say, only to stop abruptly. I could hear a muffled screech and spun my head around.

My eyes widened. A man was holding Gertrude by the mouth, with a knife at her neck. The man wearing all black, including a ski mask. A muscular fix could be seen on his arms through the tight T-shirt.

"Gertrude...!" I shouted.

The man then said a dark voice. "Shut up, tiny brat!"

I know I'm 4"9, but come on, be a little nice.

Gertrude looked at me and made her fingers move. She knew sign language and so did I. She taught me, and we communicated like that at work when we dealt with customers.
Run, Historia, run and never look back! Please! She signed.

She was crying for me to run, and I nodded my head, turned around and began to run.

I cried as I heard a slice sound coming from were I was running, and began crying.
My mom... my best friend, who's next? My old neighbor Mr. Yong? I thought to myself.

I continued to run for who knows how long, until it was dark and I was on the verge of fainting.

I was catching my breath when I realized where I was.

I was in the bad side of town.

This part of town is where the poor, druggies, alcoholics, rapists, and gang members reside. Since the mayor of our town is an absolute asshole, many have moved their just to get away from him.

I was in the okay part of the bad side of town. Going in any farther would probably get me killed or pregnant with a rapist's child. Not kidding. And I do not want to be a mom at 13..

After taking my inhaler, I decided to keep walking until I found a motel or something. I was about turned around, and felt something cover my mouth, pick me up and pull me into another alleyway nearby.

I squirmed and kicked a bit at my kidnapper. Of course, I'm not the strongest person in the world, but I pack a kick. That's why I am on the cheer leading squad.

"Lif go ofe meh!" I muffled into the hand covering my mouth.

I felt my self be placed down carefully, and I was forcefully sown around. I kept my eyes shut.

"Let go of me!" I shouted.

"Hey shush!" The kidnapper shouted at me.

I opened my eyes. A tall girl was bended over, tan skin with freckles, brown hair styled in a boy cut, with some dark clothes that I couldn't make out. She had her hands on my shoulders, and her face was not far from mine.

"Who are you?" I asked the girl.

"Not important." She said. " But we need to get you outta here before you get yourself killed."

I stared at her and blinked a few times before letting out a "Huh?"

She heaved a sigh and said "Those people back there were trying to kill you. That other girl was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. They succeeded with your mom and other family-"

"Other family?" I interjected.

She paused and shook her head. "Never mind. Anyways, if you stay in Sina, you basically have a death wish or something. So I'm here to take you to Maria."

"Why?" I asked. "Why are you helping me?"

"Those people are the Titans. A gang that no one dares to speak of. And at any cost they will make sure that you are dead. So you and I are leaving and changing your name. And your name is-"

"Historia." I huffed.

"Right, Historia. Your new name shall be..." She said, trailing off.

A minute later, she snapped her fingers.  "I got it! Your name shall be Krista Lenz."

"I like that. It has a nice ring to it. And your name is...?" I asked her.

She stood up and showed a half smile.

"Ymir. just Ymir."
