Chapter Twenty-Four
Juleka covered Marinette with a sheet and called one of the guards to carry her.
As the guard picked her up, Juleka kept panicking.
"Be careful!"
"Okay."
"You're going to hurt her!"
"Sorry."
Each time Juleka voiced her worry, the guard would reply with one word.
The guard brought Marinette to a bathroom and sat her on the toilet seat, before leaving her with Juleka.
The nursemaid grimaced at the sight of Marinette. Her lips were swollen and her face was bruised. The wounds on her side were still gushing out blood and they looked awfully painful.
She then slowly cleaned the wounds, stitched them up and dressed them, Marinette whimpered in pain during the whole process. Juleka's heart broke for the girl.
Juleka set the bath then helped the blunette undress and slip in.
Marinette hissed as the warm water came in contact with her bruised skin. She was in so much pain.
Through all this pain, there was only one thought that was crossing her mind,
'where are you, Adrien?'

(moments earlier)
"Alright, Father."
As Adrien hung up and tucked his phone into his back pocket, Nino stood beside him.
"Are you ready, your highness?"
Adrien rose a brow at him before nodding.
"Good, your highness."
"Your highness!" Someone called and Adrien turned only to see Conrad.
"Yes?"
"All the troops are armed and ready. We're waiting for your call to head out, your highness," Conrad said, his eyes looking straight ahead and his hands behind his back.
"Not yet."
"But your highness-"
"I said, not yet," Adrien repeated and the guard gulped.
"As you wish, your highness," Conrad bowed before walking away.
"How come you didn't shoot at him, your highness?" Nino smirked. "He said 'your highness' about four times and you didn't pull your gun not even once, your highness."
"Maybe because he wasn't doing it to be annoying," The blond said through gritted teeth as Nino continued to grin. Nino knew that what he was doing was riling up the Prince even more than he was already riled up and it would cost him.
"I'm not doing it to be annoying either, your highness."
"Nino?"
"Yes, your highness?"
"Do you want me to shoot you?"
"No, your highness."
"Then stop it."
"Yes...your highness."
Adrien growled. "Nino..."
"Adrien! Nino!" Someone called out and they both turned to see who it was.
"Alya?" Adrien was confused. Why was she out here.
"I found two other pieces! And you won't believe what I discovered!" She said breathlessly, coming to a stop in front of the men. "I put them together and they formed a tiara."
"So?" Nino said causing Alya to shoot him a glare.
"It looks like Marinette's tiara."
Adrien's eyes widened when the words passed Alya's lips. "The one she wore on our wedding day?"
Alya nodded quickly. "She was here, Adrien. I know that without a doubt in my mind. I'm sure Marinette did this, she has the mind to, but I'm wondering how she did it."
"Maybe she made friends with one of the guards or one of the help," Nino shrugged, pushing his glasses up his nose.
"She's definitely the type of person to do that," Adrien ran his hand through his hair. He felt as if he was wasting a lot of time by being here having this conversation. He felt a chill run down his spine; something was terribly wrong. "We must leave now."
Alya furrowed her brows. "Why?"
"I just feel like something is wrong."
Adrien, followed by Nino went over to the head of the guards and instructed him to have his troops lead out.
Adrien and Nino slipped into a car; Adrien in the back seat for her was the Prince, Nino in the passenger seat and Conrad in the driver's seat.
Conrad started to drive off of the premises, the other cars following behind him.
Adrien's mind was made up. He was here for one thing and one thing only, and that was to get his wife back. He was definitely going to have her back into his arms around tonight.
Luka stood by the front door watching the men drive out. He was going to give them a head start before he called the redhead Prince. Though he wanted the princess to be free, he was still going to be loyal. He was being loyal, but also helping the enemy.

Nathaniel felt refreshed as he stepped out of this house. He had just claimed the love of his life and that would be a permanent mark on her body that would let everyone know who she belonged to.
He was about to head over to a car when a frantic guard ran over to him.
"Your highness," the man said breathlessly, like he had just ran a mile.
"What is it? I have work to do, so hurry it up," Nathaniel snarled. He had to head back so he could see what that annoying Prince was planning.
"There are several cars approaching. They have the sign of a royal family," The man said quickly.
Nathaniel's eyes widened. "Ready the troops. We might have to fight."
"Yes, your highness," The guard bowed before rushing off.
Nathaniel, on the other hand, ran back into the house. His objective was to hide the princess and Chloe so they would not be found.
Why did Luka call him so late?!
If he had called him earlier, he would have been back at the house to stall Adrien.
Nathaniel busted into the room where Chloe was, expecting to see Marinette, but instead only saw Chloe.
"Where is the princess?" He asked frantically. Chloe was shocked by the appearance of Nathaniel. He looked like he just saw something traumatising. He looked.... afraid.
"I-I don't know," She stuttered and Nathaniel quickly left the room.
Where was she?
Just as he headed down the hall, he saw his nursemaid slowly leading Marinette out of the bathroom.
Marinette lifted her head and saw the redhead that ruined her. She gripped Juleka's hand in fear as her eyes filled with tears.
Nathaniel marched over to them and yanked Marinette from Juleka harshly causing her to whimper in both pain and fear.
He then looked at Juleka. "Unchain Chloe and take her down the basement now!" He ordered, his hands shaking slightly. He didn't want to admit it, but Nathaniel was terrified of Adrien. He was terrified of what he could do to him. He was terrified of who he was. He hates to admit it. No matter how much he tried to convince himself that he was most definitely not afraid of Prince Adrien, in the end he was very much afraid.
Juleka was hesitant to leave the princess with her master, but nodded and ran away.
Marinette looked at her retreating back pleadingly as Nathaniel pulled her down a different and darker hallway.
"Let go of me!" Marinette shrieked, using her remaining strength to try to push him away from her, but failed miserably.
"SHUT UP!" Nathaniel yelled, his voice echoing as he lead her through a door and down some stairs.
He flung her onto the floor and quickly chained her up before she could get a chance to run.
Soon enough, Juleka entered the room with Chloe. Nathaniel pulled her to him and chained her up as well. He then glared down at them. "You both will be quiet. I would gag you both, but I have no time. If I so much as hear a sound, you both will be tortured ruthlessly."
"It's not like you haven't already done that," Marinette spat, receiving shocked and disappointing looks from the other two girls.
"Marinette," Nathaniel gripped her face in his palm. "I will hurt you if you show me anymore attitude. I will hurt you so bad."
He stood and turned to Juleka. "You will not touch them. You will not help them. If you so much as think to do anything, I'll make sure your mother dies faster than she already is."
Juleka's eyes watered, "Yes, your highness."
An array of gunshots sounded, shocking everyone.
Without saying a word, Nathaniel left the room. It was time to fight for the love of his life.
* * *
Adrien pulled the trigger and another guard fell with a bullet in his head, blood oozing out of the hole that was made. He definitely was not going to show any mercy. Marinette was here. He just knew it. He was going to get her out of here and anyone who tried to stop him would suffer.
He felt someone creeping up on him and he quickly turned and used his gun to shoot the person in the leg, causing them to fall with a grunt.
Adrien stood above the fear ridden guard, his gun pointing at his head. His men were fighting round them. The Kurtzberg guards were dropping like flies. It was easy to see that they weren't trained well and were as weak as their leader.
"Where is your prince?" He asked the guard, his voice and face void of any emotion.
"He went inside," The guard said quickly.
Adrien tutted silently, 'no loyalty,' He thought. 'I wonder if my guards would rat me out like this.'
"What did he do with the princess?" Adrien then asked, his words coated with anger.
"I don't know!" The guard exclaimed, seeing Adrien about to pull the trigger. "The last time I saw her was when his highness asked us to chain her up in the basement."
Adrien then asked the man how he'd find the basement and got directions from him.
"Hmm," Adrien hummed, enjoying the new information. He was one step closer to finding Marinette.
"Please don't kill me, your highness," The man begged, his eyes welling up with tears. "I have my wife and my two children to get back home to."
Adrien sighed and walked away from the injured guard who sent millions of thanks and apologies his way.
Adrien entered the mansion without any obstacles, thankfully.
The place was silent as Adrien roamed the house using the information the guard had supplied him with.
Soon he was walking cautiously down the dark hall. He felt not a trace of fear within him. All he felt was the need to kill.
He opened a door and slowly walked down several stairs. The room was dark, but he was able to see. He definitely saw his wife sitting on the floor chained up.
Marinette's eyes filled up with tears when she saw him.
"Adrien," She cried out happily.
"Not so fast," Nathaniel said as he stepped out of the shadows. He had a gun pointed to Marinette. Adrien immediately aimed his gun at him. "She's still mine, Adrien."
"If you touch her-"
"I've touched her more than you," Nathaniel smirked, stooping to run his hand over her face slowly. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pressed the gun to her temple. "Now, how about you put that gun down. I wouldn't want to put a bullet through her pretty head as I'm sure you did to most of my men."
Marinette shook her head as Adrien slowly lowered, putting his gun down.
"There," Adrien started, staring at Nathaniel intensely, "my gun is down. What else do you want?"
"Get down on your knees, hands behind your head," Nathaniel ordered and watched as Adrien obliged. His eyes followed the blond and he felt pleased. By having Marinette in his grasp he could control the most feared Prince in France.
Nathaniel placed a kiss on Marinette's cheek and watched as anger took over Adrien's features. His smirk deepened as he rose to his feet and pointed the gun at Adrien.
"What now, your highness?" Adrien said through gritted teeth as Nathaniel walked over to him slowly as if he was a sleeping lion. "Scared?"
"No!" Nathaniel exclaimed though his heart was beating rapidly in his chest. He stooped in front of Adrien and used the gun to push his head up.
He was too close to Adrien. Adrien was getting more upset by second.
"I'm getting bored, Nathaniel," Adrien said lazily, staring up at Nathaniel, amusement dancing in his eyes.
Nathaniel's breath hitched. "W-What?"
Suddenly, Adrien knocked the gun out of Nathaniel's hands and pressed a knife to his throat. Everyone's eyes widened. No one even saw when he pulled a knife.
Adrien bashed Nathaniel's head into the floor and delivered powerful blows to his face. Nathaniel tried to fight back, but failed miserably.
The angry blond seized his blows and studied Nathaniel's batterd and bloody face.
"Do you remember that email you send me, Nathaniel?" Adrien said, gripping Nathaniel's hair and bringing his face closer to his. "When you had beaten my wife?"
Nathaniel stayed silent. The pain he felt was too much.
"I should just kill you right now, but sadly I must take you back to France and present you to the upper heads."
After the words left Adrien's lips, he delivered one more hit to Nathaniel's head, knocking him out cold.
He let out a sigh and stood. Slowly he made his way over to Marinette. He slid off this gloves and kneeled in front of her. Taking her face in his hands, captured her lips with his.
Soon enough a cough interrupted them.
"As much as I love reunions, my arms hurt," Chloe now said, making Adrien pull away from Marinette. He didn't even know she was in here.
"Right," He scratched the back of his head. "How do I get these off?"
"He has the keys on him," A new voice was now heard. It was Juleka. Adrien didn't see her either.
"Anyone else here that I don't know about?" Adrien asked, pulling keys out of the unconscious Nathaniel's pocket.
He took off Chloe's chains first then did Marinette. When she was free, she flung herself at him.
He wrapped his arms around her and buried his face in her hair.
"What took you so long?" She whispered, pulling him closer to her.
"I'm sorry," He apologized, feeling his eyes begin to sting with tears.
They shared another passionate kiss before Marinette rested her forehead on Adrien's.
"Take me home, Adrien."
"I was planning on it, princess."
