Chapter 14

Early morning, Ai smiled brightly as she prepared breakfast. The maids helped her with the utensils and the ingredients as she cooked. They whispered something in Italian.

'Now some milk,' She thought as she turned her heels to the refrigerator. She was about to open the door when another hand landed beside hers. She looked up to find a pair of brown eyes staring at her. "Sorry," Ai apologized as she removed her hand.

The girl didn't respond. She just opened the door and took a box out. As she was doing so, Ai was scrambling her brain, going through every information she had collected so far, then she realized the girl was none other than Aaron's 3rd sibling, one of the twins, Carla Falcoreini, the young aspiring pianist.

Ai was about to greet her, but she left the room already. 'I shouldn't miss this chance,' She thought as she rushed after her, but the passage was empty. She had disappeared into thin air.

'oh-oh' Ai heaved a sigh as she looked at the numerous rooms the passage lead to, 'missed it' She shook her head as she turned to go, she stopped as something hit her body and the person in question let out a scream, making her scream too.

"Alice?" Ai looked down at her sister, who had been screaming with her hands covering her face.

Alice immediately removed her hands from her face and frowned. "oh, it's just you," she said, sighing in relief.

"huh?" Ai tilted her head in confusion.

At the breakfast table,

"So, you saw a ghost?" Ai asked her.

"Yes," Alice nodded as she munched on her breakfast.

"Are you sure?" Ai frowned, "you didn't mistake someone for a ghost?"

"That's what I was about to find out, I was following the ghost but then you appeared and that ghost disappeared into thin air," She clicked her tongue in frustration, "all my hard work to catch that ghost went down in the drain."

"Weren't you just screaming right now?" Ai mocked her.

"Because it turned out to be a human, you know they're scarier than any ghosts or monsters," Alice retorted, "and besides I'm trying to catch him for a few days now, I must say he is quite tricky but no worries I'm Alice too, I'll catch him for sure." She said with determination.

"Okay, okay," Ai nodded her head in agreement.

"Good morning," A deep voice asked for their attention.

"Good morning," Ai blushed a little as she greeted her fiance.

"Good morning, prince charming," The young girl greeted her would-be-in-law.

Pulling out a chair, he took his seat, "Did I interrupt something?" He asked studying their faces.

"Not at all, can't you see my sister's face brighten up by the mere sight of you?" Alice asked him teasingly.

"Hey!" Ai narrowed her eyes at her.

"I mean it's nice to see your handsome face early in the morning, good gracious, I thought my sister would always be left out in this golden cage with not even seeing her prince charming's face, what would you've done if she forgot your face, hmm? I almost did." Alice smiled mockingly.

"I'm sorry about that," Aaron apologized, "I know I've been busy but now you can see this handsome face every day, and I'd be in trouble if your sister were to forget my face, so rest assured, I'll make sure that won't happen," He winked at her.

"Okay, we're good then," Alice nodded.

"Hey now, can we proceed with the breakfast?" Ai intervened.

"Sure," they both agreed.

Ai blinked for a moment, since when did they get along so well?

"Are you enjoying your stay here, Alice?" Aaron asked but before Alice could run her smart mouth Aaron himself replied, "I know, I just wanted to suggest, how about we go somewhere this weekend? How about some sightseeing and shopping?"

"Now we're talking," Alice squealed in excitement.

As promised, Aaron took them around the city of Rome, Alice was beyond the moon as she giggled, running around the street.

Ai smiled at her sister, who was enjoying herself like anything, she suddenly felt something warm in her hand, looking down she wound his hands interlacing her fingers, she blinked at the man.

"This was on the list," he shrugged.

"But I said-"

"We don't have to follow the list but I can do this if I want to, can't I?" He asked.

"Suit yourself," She replied in a low voice as she turned her face to the other side, trying to suppress the smile that wasn't obeying her at all. She felt huge butterflies dancing in her stomach as they walked down the street hand-in-hand.

"Ah, I forgot to mention," His voice pulled her attention back to him.

"yes?" She raised her brows.

"Do you know how to dance?" He asked.

"You're not going to tell me we'll be doing that here, would you?" Her face expressed pure horror.

"Of course not," Aaron let out deep laughter.

Ai hid her face as her face grew hot in embarrassment.

"Not here, but somewhere else," he replied as he suppressed his laugh.

"huh?"

"There's a charity ball in 15 days, I'd like to bring you there with me," He explained.

"A ball?"

"So, do you know how to dance?" He asked her again.

"Sadly no," She replied lowering her head.

"Ah that's a pity," He shook his head, "But I still hope you'd accompany me as my partner?" He cocked his head to the side.

"Hmm," she nodded.

"Great," He smiled a full smile, and Ai stared at him in awe.

"Hmm, so she can act like a kid sometimes," Aaron looked at Ai who ran across the streets with his driver trying to catch up to her.

Ai broke out of the daze and followed his gaze, "hmm," She nodded, "Thank you for bringing us here, it's been a while since she's enjoyed herself." She thanked him, "I always did my best so that she wouldn't lose her innocence but she's already too mature for her age. Sometimes I'm scared."

"I know you've done your best, I can see, she is a perfect sister, she has her naughtiness but she knows when to have her guards up and she very well knows how to protect herself and her sister, you've raised her well." He gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "And don't think much about it cause you're the best sister she could ever have, trust me," He smiled at her.

Ai looked at her sister, "I'm glad," She whispered as her face broke into a beautiful smile, Aaron was struck, he experienced something he had never before, a warm feeling deep inside his heart. Just then Ai looked at him and the world paused, they were lost in each other's eyes as the sun slowly set down.

Alice ran up to them and giggled as they didn't realize her presence, she sneaked behind them and she counted, 1...2...3, "Boo!" She screamed as she hugged their knees.

They were startled.

"Sorry, love birds, but Alice is hungry," Alice told them rubbing her tummy.

"Okay, young lady," Aaron picked her up in his arms, "Where would you like to go then?" He asked her.

"It's a day out planned by you, so why don't you tell me?" Alice turned the question at him.

"Hmm, we have it planned, of course," He smiled at her. He then turned to Ai, "Shall we?" He offered his arm, "Sure," she smiled back at him, linking their arms.

After dinner, when they returned Alice was already asleep, Aaron carried her in his arms as they walked back to their room, "So how was today?" He asked Ai as he handed Alice over to her.

"We loved it, thank you so much," She expressed her gratitude with a lovely smile.

"I'm glad you liked it," He smiled back at her.

They stayed silent for a minute looking at each other awkwardly.

"Okay, then, good night," Aaron waved at her.

"Yeah, good night," she replied.

Aaron turned to go.

Ai was a little hesitant but she spoke out, "I'd like to learn."

Aaron stopped at her words, "huh?" He turned around in confusion.

"The dance, I'd like to learn," she clarified.

"Oh, you don't have to force yourself, it's fine," He shook his head.

"No, I want to, the dance... I want to dance with you." She replied.

Aaron held his breath, "oh..."

"I'm a quick learner," She added.

"O-kay," he released his breath.

"Great then, good night," She then immediately bolted inside her room.
