Jake stood up and looked around. I looked down at the girl who just died, her last word was my name. I didn't know how to feel about it, was it a good thing or not.

"Drew...she died with a smile on her face because of you. That's all we could have done for her. I tried to save her but I wasn't quick enough. She was going to be eaten by a Titan but I did manage to save her from that fate."

"But I wonder is bleeding out to death, in pain from losing a leg, far from home, on a roof with two people you don't know any better than that. At least being eaten is quick. It's over in a flash most of the time..." I leant forward and gently closed the girls open eyes. I stood up and faced Jake. "Why did you just leave like that?"

"I told you I had to help her."

"Yeah I can understand that but you should have said something. Called out, I would have come with you. I think I finally get it, it get why the others hate it when I leave just like you did. I was worried Jake you could have died. You can't fight alone, I get it now I do."

"You were worried?"

"Yes of course I was. Your a member of my squad and my friend."

"Friend? So you don't hate me after what I did this morning."

"What? Of course I don't hate you Jake. I just..."

"Can't return my feelings." He finished for me. I sighed and nodded. "I understand. So this other person...is it Captain Levi?"

"That's what the others think but I don't know. They tell me that I'm in love with him but I myself don't know. Is it possible to be in love with someone but not know that you are?"

"I think so. I guess I knew from the beginning that it was always the Captain." He sad as his face crumpled a little. 

"Jake..." I began.

"I know. Look I'm sorry for what I did this morning. I was out of line. We still friends?"

"Of course." I said making him smile.

"Alright then let's get back to the others." He said jumping off the roof. I smiled and followed him. The two of us flew through the streets. Jake was flying high above me but still slightly in front. As we turned corner we moved completely in sink, moving almost as one, but then things went wrong. A 15 meter Titan appeared from around the corner.

"Jake!" I called out but he spotted it to late and slammed right into the large Titan. The grapple hooks that were in the buildings holding him up came lose and he fell to the floor. He tumbled and there was clattering as his 3DM gear fell off him. He lay completely still on the floor. The Titan spotted me coming towards it and brought it's hand up to catch me. I was so preoccupied with what happened with Jake that I only just missed  it's grip. I dodged it and flew towards the wall opposite but I wasn't paying much attention and landed on the side of the wall funny. There was a loud snap and my right leg snapped in two. I screamed in pain and hung there on the wall as the surroundings around me came out of focus. My leg killed but the grapple hook was still in the wall so I didn't fall to the ground. I have to move, I thought myself. If I stay here I'll die. I felt a large hand pick me up but it was hard to see. The Titan no, I screamed in my head. I was not going to die because of a stupid broken leg. I snapped back to reality to see the inside of the Titan's mouth, I wasn't dead yet that was good. I reached down and grabbed my swords and cut off the Titan's fingers making it release me from it's grip. Titan blood splatted all over my uniform and I used my 3DM gear to shoot myself in the air, high above the Titan. I came down and cut into it's skin. The Titan began to fall to the floor and I followed it. I had to get to Jake. I jumped off the rotting Titan but landed on my broken leg and fell to the ground. I held where it was broken and breathed deeply thought the pain. I had to get to Jake. I stood up on my right leg not placing any weight on my broken left leg. I hopped over to Jake who still hadn't moved. There was a pool of red blood all around his head. "Jake?" I said starting to fear to worst. I knelt down, trying to ignore the pain in my leg. "Jake come on we have to leave." I said in a pleading voice. I was trying to stay positive but I knew all along that I was not going to get a response. Still I turned him over so that I could look at his face. It was covered in blood and there was a huge gash in the side off his head. "No!" I said as my eyes started to tear up. "Jake!" I said holding his face not caring about the blood getting on my hands. The Titan blood on my uniform was coming off in it's usual hot steam. I looked down at him and my tears that were pouring out of my eyes fell on his blank face. "Jake come on you can't be dead you can't. Come on you've done this before. You've been in the field for 9 years, you were ready for this. Why now? Why die now? Jake come on, please...please...please respond..." But of course none came. I hugged his lifeless body and cried into his red hair. He was gone and I could have saved him...
