Back home
We both jumped off the roof and fly over the Survey corps members. Landing on the other roof we charged at a Titan. Petra and I didn't even need to talk about our attack. This one was Petra's to take down, I was the one to give her a clear opening. I picked up a small piece of rock and threw it with perfect aim at the Titan's head. It grunted and turned to look were it came from.
"Oi stupid down here. You thick idiot." I shouted at it waving my arms to get it's attention. It turned it's body to face me and slowly lifted his hand to pick me up but I held my ground. Petra was on the others side, she would cut this thing down. I heard a slicing and I saw blood spill form it's neck but it didn't fall. Petra landed next to me.
"It wasn't deep enough." She said sounding disappointed.
"I got it." I ran up it's arm and used my grapple hook to attach myself to the roof just behind him. As I flew toward it I turned my back on it so that I was facing the Titan. It was focusing on Petra. I saw the cut she had made. It wasn't deep enough like she said but it wasn't far off. I made the cut deeper and smoothly landed on the roof opposite Petra as the Titan feel to the ground. I joined Petra again and we began running on the roofs towards the others.
"Did you really throw a rock in a Titan's face?" She asked with a slight smile.
"Yeah, I had to get the idiots attention right?"
"I guess so." We stopped and watched as the Garrison opened the gate. They didn't open it much but it was enough to get us through. Gunther and Oluo appeared beside us.
"We should go in now too." Said Gunther.
"You guys go on." I told them. "I'm going to make sure everyone else gets through safely."
"But Drew they might close the gates and leave you out." Pleaded Petra.
"Don't worry I'll get though. Bonnie is waiting for me just done there. She is a loyal horse, she will not leave me behind."
"What if you do get trapped out?" Asked Gunther.
"Then I'll find another way in."
"Are you really gonna risk all that for a few stranglers at the back?" Said Oluo.
"I don't value myself above them in any way. I'll be fine, you guys go." I watched as the Commander and Captain Levi were the first to pass through the gates. "You have helped me more that I asked you too and I'm thankful for that, but now I encourage you guys to go through the gate now. I understand that this might be a stupid mistake, thank you all for helping me." I ran along the roof in the opposite direction to the gate.
"Captain won't be happy about us leaving her behind." I heard Petra say, then the 3 turned and made their way through the gate. I lowered myself down onto the street and Bonnie trotted over to me.
"Hey girl." I greeted her as I climbed on her back. Her and I rode at the very back of the pack. There weren't any Titan's nearby. It seemed that Gunther and Oluo had done a good job of eliminating the Titans at the back. Yet still I kept looking back frequently to check that there was nothing there. Eventually though we made it back though the gate and the guards shut it. There were people everywhere all in the street. They all looked tired, beat up and depressed. I couldn't imagine what some of them had just seen. There were children there too, the poor things must have been terrified. Bonnie and I walked through the crowd until I saw the rest of my squad near the stables. Captain Levi was leaning against the stable door and watched me come up.
"Do you enjoy putting yourself in dangerous situations?" He asked me with a cold voice.
"No more than anyone else does Sir but I'm not going to stand aside while soldiers are dying all around me." I answered him getting down from Bonnie.
"You've got blood on your hand." He stated and pulled out a cloth from his pocket, came over and gently took my hand in his. Very gently he wiped it off, when he was finished he backed up and put it away.
"Thank you Sir." He said nothing and walked towards the Commander. Petra came up behind me.
"You really like him don't you?" She asked with a slight smile.
"What? Don't be absurd, love has nothing to do with it. The feelings I have for my Captain are simply ones of respect not love."
"You seem awfully defensive all of a sudden. You know I wouldn't blame you if you did, he is a handsome man."
"Petra! That's the Captain your speaking about."
"At least she can admit when she has finds a guy attractive." I heard Gunther say behind me. I turned to glare at him. Oluo who was beside him laughed.
"Oh come on Drew. Your so obvious. You do everything he asks you too without question."
"He is the Captain that's what your meant to do." I replied.
"Guys, leave her alone." Said Eld who had been quiet until that moment. "If she isn't ready to admit it to herself let then just leave it be." I sighed and walked out of the stables, un aware that Captain Levi had heard the whole thing...
