39. Field Day
It was finally spring in Westport. School was still the same though. Once I got there I saw Lilli. "Guess who's gotta attend Field Day." She said to me and I looked at her. Field day, sounds like a trip more of a sports war.
"God, no I feel for you." I said to her with a smile. We then started walking.
"What makes it worse is I've gotta make a chili as well." She said to me and I hugged her.
"Come over with the others tonight we'll chill in my room. You'll never have to pick up anything for that chili." I said to her and she hugged me. Later that day they all came over after work. I saw Trip making Chili with Dad and I just completely walked past with the others. I did a head count once we got to my room.
"Have we got everyone?" Khad's asked and we looked around we were missing someone.
"Javi. We've lost Javi to the Chili." Esh said to him and I just wanted to know what made him go.
"We can cope without him I think." I said to them all and I was already kinda missing him.
"You don't seem so sure about that." Brooke said to me and I was thinking of a plan.
"Give me a minute." I said to them before heading downstairs. I saw Javi.
"Hey, Javs. We're going to look at Red Velvets choreographies if you want to join us." I said to him and he looked at his cutting board.
"I've got chilies to chop." He said to me and I looked and saw Taylor and Oliver wave me over.
"Trying to get Javi back?" Oliver asked me and I looked at them both.
"Trying to." I said to them and they looked at me.
"We've got a plan. Come with us." Taylor said before we went outside. We watched them with the door open. I still left the girls upstairs and didn't tell them what I was doing.
"Smells like victory." Dad said to the two boys. I was looking at them.
"It looks like heaven." Javi said to us, he had a weird thing about heaven.
"And it sounds like the ocean." Trip said before dad put a wooden spoon into the dish. We knew what to do.
"Let's give it a taste." Dad said and tasted it. I was wondering what the girls were thinking. I then went upstairs.
"Is he coming?" Lilli asked me and I shook my head at her.
"No I tried everything but he's not coming. The chili is more important." I said to them and they had a playlist made in that whole time.
"Right, now let the watching begin." I said to them all and we started are watching spree. It wasn't long until Javi joined us but we'd finished our watching. Later when everyone was asleep and the others hand left we added the hottest chili in the world in.
"One taste of this, and their mouths will burn. They'll realize their failure, and their bromance will be over." Oliver said before dropping it in. Taylor started to stir it.
"I can't wait to see the looks on their face when they try it." Taylor said to us and I looked at her.
"If they even have a face by the end." I said to them. When it got around to the morning and Trip and Javi were over. We went outside and watched from the back door. Hopefully everything was going to plan. We watched as they tried it.
"Mm. Delicious." Dad said before Trip tried out. Where was the reaction.
"Mmm! Totally. Now I know how what's-his-name felt when he invented the whatchamacallit." Trip said to him and Javi looked at him.
"This even better than yesterday. We're definitely winning." Javi said while trying it, and they didn't sense a single thing.
"That's so strange." I said to them all.
"Huh. What happened to melting their faces off?" Taylor asked before we walked in. "Let me try that." Taylor said before pushing Trip out the way. She then tried some of it.
"I want some as well." I said before tasting it.
"It's not spicy at all." Taylor said to us.
"I was expecting a quick." I said to them before Oliver tried it.
"You're right. What the hell? Uncle Louie have me a dud pepper." Oliver said to us, he probably shouldn't have said that out loud.
"What's going on? Who's Uncle Louie?" Dad asked and we looked at each other.
"What pepper?" Trip asked us.
"What are you all talking about?" Javi asked and I felt eyes on me from Oliver.
"Come up with something." Oliver said to the two of us.
"Oliver, Y/n and I were jealous of you, Trip and Javi, so we put a hot pepper in your chili, to sabotage your chances of winning." Taylor said and I looked at her and rolled my eyes.
"So, you just told the truth." Oliver said before signing. Dad was just staring at her.
"Dad, don't just stare at us like that. Say something." Taylor said when Dad was breathing it was all shaky.
"I can't." He said to us, the pepper had quirked in.
"What's wrong?" She asked him and I looked at him then the others.
"My mouwf..." He said before breathing heavily.
"What is this feeling?" Javi asked while rushing to the sink.
"Something really bad is happening in my tongue!" Trip said to us and that's when I was starting to feel something.
"What is happening?" Taylor asked and I looked at them both.
"I totally forgot. The ghost pepper's effects are slightly delayed." Oliver said and I went over to the fridge. Where was the milk.
"I can feel it in my ear canal!" Dad shouted as his head was under the sink.
"Give me the tap, old man!" Trip said and pulled Dad from it to have some.
"Aah! So that means..." Oliver said before they started getting the symptoms.
"Why is there barely any milk!" I shouted and Taylor it from me. Javi came over to me.
"I'm sorry about everything. Just know I love you and you're my best friend. I didn't mean to leave you all." Javi said to me and I looked at him.
"It's okay, I forgive you." I said to him I then started to lose the feeling in my arms and legs. I was just like a puddle on the ground. That was a scary 20 minutes I never wanted to relive. We then headed down to the Field Day.
"Attention, everyone. The three legged race is about to begin." The announcer said and Lilli and I went to the side to watch her mom and my mom compete. The gun went off and we cheered along. Mom ended up winning. When it got to tug of war. Me and Lilli went to hers.
"My dad made chili if you want some." She said and I was thinking back to this morning.
"Yeah, I'll just take ice cream." I said to her and she just laughed at me.
"I didn't even want to know what happened." She said to me while laughing. At least the pain had gone.
