29. The Pig Whisperer
Tonight I was at Hattie's place before going to our dance class. Once I returned it was dark out. I saw Mom sat on a counter. "I'm not even going to ask." I said to them while hanging my bag up.
"Mom got scared of the pig." Oliver said to me making me laugh.
"I wish I got witness that." I said before going upstairs. When it got the next day Oliver and I were walking downstairs together.
"So, that's it? That's your plan- -train the hog?" Mom asked Dad as we both reached the kitchen.
"Yes. Hans Gruber is an unconventional pet, but Anna-Kat has really bonded with him, and you know what? So have I." Dad said to us, I hated living with a pig.
"Oh." Mom got out.
"Yeah, I don't like the, uh, hillbilly factor, obviously, but i'm impressed that you're not folding. I've never seen this side of you before." Oliver said to him.
"Yeah, i'm honestly surprised but impressed. Keep this up Dad." I said to him with a smile.
"Thank you, Oliver and Y/n." Dad said to us with a smile.
"But Mom's not gonna put up with it much longer. If you two decide to get divorced, I'll go with whoever doesn't get the minivan." Oliver said to them.
"I will as well." I said to them both with a nod.
"Katie? You're thinking about a divorce?" Viv asked from behind making me jump a little bit. We really had to start locking that door.
"Just walk right in, Viv. Don't worry about social norms." Dad said to her.
"We are not getting divorced." Mom said to her.
"Oh, thank god, because, Katie, divorce is not as good as you think it will be. Even Greg might be better than no husband." Viv said making me hold in my laughter.
"Thank you, Viv." Dad said to her with a straight face.
"You're welcome." Viv said to him, I went and sat at the table.
"Hey. These are for you." Viv said while handing Mom some bags.
"You brought me things?" Mom asked her after gasping, that was sweet.
"I wish I could buy things. I have very little money. It turns out prenups are legally binding, even if you dramatically rip it up during mediation. Apparently, they make copies." Viv said to us, how stupid was she. It baffles me every time.
"You and Alan had a prenup?" Mom asked her.
"We did. I'm momentarily not as rich as I look. I got the house but not a lot of actual money. So, I was hoping you could teach me how to do laundry like poor people do." Viv said making Mom drop the bags.
"Viv, i'm not gonna teach you remedial housekeeping." Mom said making Viv scream with excitement.
"Yay! Oh! You're doing it for me! Love it. Oh, do I need a ticket or anything?" Viv asked before going to leave, she hugged Mom while screaming and I could how annoyed Mom was.
"No." Mom said to her.
"Okay. Bye!" Viv said before leaving and closing the door behind her.
"This is why having money is important. Spencer Blitz doesn't do his own laundry. D.C.O.B. 'Dry Clean Only, Baby.'" Oliver said to all of us, dry cleaners did sound good.
"Spencer is the type of greedy, self-centred person we don't want Oliver becoming. I can't believe you're still letting him work for that ex-con." Mom said to Dad, she wanted him to fold.
"Don't fold Dad." I whispered to him.
'She wants you to fold on this too, but don't do it, Dad. Stay strong." Oliver said to Dad while putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, puberty boy and lover girl. Nobody asked you two." Mom said making Oliver and I look at each other. After a while everything went back to how it usually was. Dad was out with Anna-Kat training the pig and Oliver was working with Spencer. Whilst I was dancing in my room. That was up until Viv came around again. Mom and I were trying to get her with Spencer. It would tackle her issue with Oliver being friends with him and Viv coming over and annoying me. Once Oliver got annoyed. In the morning I went to Hattie's.
"So, what are we learning today?" She asked me as I was looking through a list of choreographies we wanted to learn.
"How about Signal by Twice. It's been on our list since it came out." I said to her with a smile, she smiled back.
"We've been in love with that choreography for too long. I'm so glad we're learning it." She said before we started learning it, it only took us 45 minutes to learn. And once we finished we went to work. When I got home I saw a beautiful man on our front lawn. "Who is that man?" She asked me as we walked to the door.
"I have no idea." I said to her as we went inside and got a drink. He turned out to be a pig trainer. I didn't even know they existed. Hattie was staying the night so tonight was going to be full of laughs. And it was. When it got to the next I was sat at the table looking through Twitter.
"Viv, we are taking you out tonight, okay? We are going to meet some nice, eligible men." Doris said to her seeming as her and Angela were here.
"Or maybe a woman." Angela said to her.
"Ooh, I tried that in college eight times. It just wasn't for me." Viv said, and it took 8 times to figure that out.
"It took you eight times to figure that out? Okay." Angela said to her, that was pretty confusing though.
"You guys, i'm fine! Spencer checks all the boxes. He's rich. There's really just one box." Viv said to us, she really did know what she wanted in life and that was how I wanted to be.
"You need to find a good guy." Doris said to her, a good guy with money.
"Yeah." Angela said agreeing.
"Someone nice who you can fall in love with. Like Greg." Doris said making me look at Dad.
"Well, thanks, Doris." Dad said to her with a smile.
"But not Greg. Not ever Greg. If Katie dies, I call dibs." I heard Doris said and that's when I had enough. I then went up to my room and called Cooper. I hadn't seen him at all this week due to my schedule. After a few minutes I went back downstairs with Taylor. Mom took my phone and ended the call and took Taylor's phone as well. "Cooper Bradford and John Reese. Okay, I need to talk to my girls. That includes you, too, Viv." Mom said making Viv come over to us. "In a relationship- -like in that nature show- -sometimes it's symbiotic and everything's perfect. And sometimes it's parasitic, and you want to throttle each other. But the important part is the core of the relationship never changes." Mom said to us, could she get to the point exactly.
"I've been working on my core like crazy." Viv said to Mom with a smile.
"Different core, Viv. Pay attention. When I met your daddy, I knew he was the one for me. I had dated a lot bad boys, but he was so kind and so smart...that I couldn't help but fall in love with him. Half the time I didn't know what he was talking about, but I got this special feeling in my stomach, and that part never goes away no matter how many pigs he brings home." Mom said making us all look at him, we heard a knock on the front door.
"Oh, thanks for coming on such short notice." Dad said to the pig trainer.
"Oh, not a problem. I was just in Wilton dealing with a depressed pig, and I was like, 'you're just gonna be such a good pig. No one's ever gonna eat that pig'. And that did the trick." The trainer said to Dad, I looked at Viv then back at the trainer.
"Greg, why is the Pig Whisperer here?" Mom asked while walking upstairs.
"'Cause i'm not giving up on Hans Gruber." Dad said to us, I took my phone from the counter and went upstairs again. I went to talk with my friends about what Mom just said. Maybe she was right after all and we had this while conception of love wrong. And maybe it was time to change that.
