Chapter 6

There was another knock on the door and Delilah quickly stood up from her spot on the couch, almost kicking Madison who was sitting with her legs crossed on the floor. "Thanks, D," Madison said sarcastically, to which Delilah just shrugged her shoulders.

Madeline walked through the door behind Delilah and Madison upon noticing her arrival let out a short squeal and got up and ran over to Madeline tackling her in a hug. A usual hello between the twins.

The rest of the girls in the room stopped their conversations briefly to look at the arrival of Madeline to give a quick hello before returning to their conversations. Madison who finally pulled away, finally letting Madeline breathe, "I missed you, Maddie." Madison said walking over to where she was sitting on the floor before and Madeline joined her. "Yeah no shit, Mads, I got that from the bone crushing hug you gave. Also I missed you too."

Ruby cleared her throat, catching everybody's attention. "We should start getting ready, Aiden just texted me saying he would be picking us up in an hour. What time is Scott coming?" Ruby directed the last part towards Madeline.

Madeline looked down at her phone, checking the time, "Scott said to just text him 10 minutes in advance."

"Ok, well we should go upstairs and get ready. The party starts at 8 right?" Madison asked.

"Yep." Delilah popped the 'p.' Standing up along with the rest of the girls, before they hurried up the stairs towards Delilah's room. It was Friday night and all the girls had decided to go to a party one of the boys at their school was hosting. Madison asked Madeline to go seeing that all of the girls were friends anyway. They were getting ready at Delilah's house seeing as though her mum wasn't home and wouldn't be until later. The girls all said they were all going out to dinner then having a movie night and sleeping over at each other's houses, except for Madison because her mum wasn't allowing her to sleep over, so Delilah and Madison would head back to Madison's house whenever they were over the party.

The girls quickly got changed, applied their makeup, and styled their hair before they headed down stairs to wait for Madeline and Ruby's boyfriend to pick them up.

Madeline rested her arm on Madison's shoulder, holding her phone in her other hand, she was about to open her mouth to speak but her phone dinged in her hand. Madeline and Madison both looked down to her phone screen to see Scott's name flashed across the screen.

From: Scott

I'm outside babe, come out when you're ready xx.

"Ugh, why do you have to be so cute? Makes me sick." Madison groaned.

Madeline dropped her arm, "You're just jealous because you don't have a Scott of your own." Madeline pocked Madison in the cheek with a cheeky smile.

"Guys we should probably get going soon, Aiden just texted me saying he's outside." Ruby spoke up, flicking her hair over her shoulder.

"Scott's outside as well." Madeline spoke up as well.

The girls all decided that they would head to the party seeing as though it was a half hour drive. As all the girls headed towards the door and Delilah left a note on the kitchen table reminding her mother about 'their movie night' and that she would be staying at Madison's.

Madeline slipped her arm through Madison's as the girls reached Delilah's front lawn and split up seeing as though Ruby and her boyfriend were going to pick up Aiden's cousin or something and would reunite at the party.

As they approached Scott's- Madeline's boyfriend- car, he was leaning against the bonnet of his car, keys in hand. Madeline hugged him for what felt like forever and gave him a kiss, before she pulled away and Madison gave him a quick hug, as they had been friends since they were young.

Soon enough Scott hopped into the driver's seat with Madeline in the passenger seat and Delilah and Madison in the back seat. As they made their way down the road Madeline and Scott entwined their hands and Scott brought it up to his lips and kissed the back of her hand. Although Madison would never admit it, they were incredibly cute and you could feel the love radiating between the two of them and it brought a smile to Madison's face every time and it also made her so incredibly happy to know her sister was happy.

The lake house on the outskirts of town, was crowded with people. Some dancing to the thumping music, some chatting, some making out, but almost all of them with red solo cups in their hands. Including Madison and her friends.

Madison along with her twin stood in a circle with all their friends chatting in many different conversations. Madison was just over tipsy but not quite drunk yet and excused herself from her conversations to go get a refill of her drink.

Just as Madison turned away, a heavy arm draped over her shoulder it belonging to Delilah, who at this point was very drunk. She giggled, "I needa pee, real bad."

Madison shook her head, sliding her arm around Delilah's back to keep her stable and upright, "You had a little bit to drink tonight hey Dee."

Delilah smiled a lopsided smile, "Hi."

They walked inside, Madison also stumbling a bit due to her slightly drunk state. Madison walked over to where the drinks were refilling her cup with some beer. "Me toooo, please." Delilah asked, words slightly slurred, holding out her cup.

"Uh-uh, you've had enough." Madison took her cup and put it down on the table.

"Needa pee." Delilah started bouncing up and down slightly, and then Madison remembered that she did say something about it before. Madison grabbed Delilah's hand leading her up to the bathroom that she found earlier. Grateful that there was nobody in there.

She opened the door and Delilah went in, Madison just leaned against the wall sipping her drink, until Delilah reopened the door and pulled her back in to the bathroom. "I need you to zip me up."

Madison was confused for a moment until Delilah turned around indicating that she wanted Madison to zip up her dress. After Madison did so Delilah sat down on the closed toilet seat, "I don't feel too good, Madi."

Madison looked at her for a moment, things processing slower now that alcohol was in her system. When it did process her eyes widened and she had only just managed to hand her the small bin before Delilah threw up the contents of her stomach, and Madison looked away while holding back her hair in fear of also being sick.

When Delilah finally stopped she put down the bin and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, she looked up at Madison studying her for a moment. "You are so pretty" Delilah's eyes as she stared at Madison.

"Aw, thanks D, your pretty too." Madison was never great at comforting people, and didn't help that they were both drunk, that last drink Madison had really starting to kick in.

"Thank you Madi, but your like beautiful, if I could I would take your skin and wear it your that pretty, and I love you so much." Delilah was full on crying at this point and Madison remembered that Delilah was an emotional drunk and would start crying at the smallest things like Madison's beauty for instance. So she just hugged her for a moment not being able to think of anything else. Delilah was probably the person that she was closest to apart from Madeline though they didn't spend every second together.

"Ok, D, c'mon stand up, we're going to go lay down while I go get Maddie and then we'll go home ok?"

"Oh, Maddie, can you tell her how pretty she is, I love Maddie, but, I'll always love you more, you know that right Mads?"

"Of course I know that, I love you too D."

Delilah finally stood up and holding onto Madison they walked out with a few dirty glares from girls waiting to use the bathroom and went up the hallway to where Madison was hoping bedrooms would be and hope that nobody was preoccupying it.

They came across one and both girls stumbled into it, walking directly over to the bed and pushing Delilah down onto it, "Now Delilah, you are gonna stay here and have a nap while I go find Madeline ok?" Madison said while Delilah wriggled around and got comfortable.

"Ok, I can do that." Delilah mumbled, already sleepy. So Madison left the room, praying that Delilah wouldn't move. As she headed down the stairs- that were crowded with couples making out- on her unsteady legs she pulled her phone out of her pocket, blinded by the light for a second before Madison could read the blurriness and it was just after midnight so they had been here for a few hours and Madison was so over it.

Madison was a few steps the bottom of the stairs, when a couple of making out, pushed into her, knocking her balance and Madison stumbled down the last few steps, bumping into someone who looked like they tried to catch her but were unable to react quick enough and Madison soon made contact with the ground, her knees throbbing, as they coped the blunt of the force.

Madison just laid there for a moment until an arm landed on hers, helping her back onto her feet, when Madison finally registered that she was back on her feet she looked to who helped her up.

Of course. Of course out of the hundreds of people that were here at this party the one she had to run into was Daniel. Of course.

"You lil drunk there huh." Daniel chuckles.'

"Um...no I am not." Madison replies standing up straighter and trying not to wobble on her feet. "Even if I was, you probably are too."

"I'm not, I'm the driver, can't be drunk."

"Whatever." Madison went to turn around and walk away but just as she did her eyes landed on someone that if they met would make for an awkward conversation possibly a conversation in which could end up in a fight and didn't matter if Madison was drunk or sober, she was not prepared to deal with that, so she quickly turned around, and for some reason that Madison had not figured out grabbed Daniel's hand and pulled him around the corner of the wall and away from the view of Felicite, yeah the ex-best friend. What was she even doing at this party anyway, she had moved schools.

"What are you-" Daniel stopped talking when Madison put a finger over his lips, checking around the corner and when she could no longer see Felicite, she removed her finger.

"You love me so much that you had to pull me away huh?" If Madison wasn't drunk right now she would probably kick him, but she wasn't going to do that, afraid of losing her balance.

Madison looked up to Daniel, noticing once again how nice of a colour his brown eyes were and appreciating them. Madison was confused she didn't know whether or not she liked him or not she did know she didn't hate him, after the day in the park she knew that, but she didn't class him as her friend either.

Before her mind could comprehend what in the world she was even doing she was leaning forward looking at his lips and she wasn't sure if she was actually doing it in slow motion or if that's how it was actually happening.

Just as Madison closed her eyes she felt herself being pulled backwards and was so confused. Soon enough she opened her eyes and heard Madeline's voice "Oh no, I am not letting you drunk kiss someone, let's go, we're going home, we've got Delilah she's in the car, c'mon."

Had Madison been sober she probably would have thanked Madeline but instead she grudgingly complied with a frown shuffling out with Madeline's arm around her shoulder so she had no chance of falling, and right before she went around the corner and out of sight of Daniel, she looked back to see him looking at her, and of course he was smiling at her and shaking his head slightly, and for the first time it actually gave Madison butterflies. Maybe she will get to kiss him one day.
