Madison walks through the school gate for another day at school, she rubbed her eyes wishing she was still in bed and majorly regretting staying up late last night on the internet. Well technically she wasn't up late on the internet because she went on social media when she got home from meeting up with Madeline which then caused her to forget about her homework which she had to then stay up doing till 1am.

As she neared the building in which she had her first class, English, the bell rang, meaning Madison would have no time to talk to her friends that weren't in her English class, until next period.

Madison walked into the classroom, noticing she was the first one apart from the teacher sitting at her desk doing something on her computer, the teacher Mrs Walker looked up at her briefly before casting her gaze back down on her laptop.

Madison had plopped down in her seat and dumped her bag on the table, as she zipped her bag open, she looked up when she heard someone enter the classroom, hoping it was one of her friends, it wasn't. It was Daniel. She quickly looked back down, praying that he didn't see her and even if he did, wouldn't acknowledge her.

She noticed that her prayers did not come true as Daniel, put his bag on his own table and walked over to Maddison, just as she pulled her out her black floral pencil case and book, Daniel stood right in front of her resting his palms on her desk.

He didn't say anything for a moment just stared at her, his look was intimidating, making Madison feel small. "So, I have a question for you." Daniel finally spoke but Madison didn't feel any relief like she wanted if anything it made her feel more intimidated.

"Well I'm not up for answering your questions, maybe another day." Madison's voice sounded nothing like she felt, sounding all confident. She raised her eyebrow at Daniel, in which he returned.

He pulled Madison's book closer to him and started flipping through it, Madison didn't acknowledge his actions and was oblivious to the folded sheet he picked up and slid into his pocket because she was looking into his eyes.

People were slowly starting to pour into the room, and from the corner of Madison eye she was glad it wasn't any of her friends. "Well I'm going to ask you the question anyway." Madison rolled her eyes at this. "My question for you is who were you with yesterday?"

"Not that it is any of your business but that person was my sister." Daniel looked quizzically at Madison trying to figure out whether Madison was lying or no, trying to figure out Madison.

"Why were you meeting up with your sister?" Before Madison had a chance to reply Delilah sat down next to her.

"What is he doing here?" Delilah squinted at him, and Madison decided to answer before Daniel could, however Madison answer was a lie.

"He was just coming over to ask to borrow a pen." Madison looked up and gave Daniel a look that screamed 'keep your mouth shut and go along with what I'm saying,' for once Daniel went along with what she was saying, well what she was trying to say without saying it aloud.

"Yep, that's exactly it." Daniel says, an edge of sarcasm in his voice and Madison was silently relieved that Delilah didn't pick up on it and just shrugged getting out her book and pencil case that was in much better condition than Madison's were.

Madison gave Daniel a pen, and a warm fake smile, that despite her kind voice saying "there you go" clearly said piss off.

Daniel took the pen and walked back to the seat he had chosen and sat down.

"Why did he ask you of all people for a pen?" Delilah asks, leaning over towards Madison so her voice wasn't too loud.

"I'm not sure maybe because I was the only other one in the class at the time, because someone took so long getting here. Cough, cough Delilah." Madison tried to make her subject change as subtle as possible and she was glad that even if Delilah did pick up on it she went along with it.

"I had to come from the other side of the quad and you know it." Delilah's voice pitched higher as she spoke.

"I know, I know calm down." Madison turned in her chair and lent her back against the wall, looking across the room to nothing in particular.

The teacher stood up and started teaching informing the class about something in the novel they were reading. Madison's eyes suddenly caught sight of a pair of warm brown ones, and she felt her breath hitch in her throat, but she quickly covered it and set her lips in a hard tight line, staring back at Daniel just as much as Daniel was staring at Madison.

She saw a smirk slowly rise on Daniel's face and Madison rose an eyebrow at him, it was like they were having some sort of secret silent conversation with their eyes and facial expression and the rest of the class was completely oblivious to them, and Madison and Daniel also seemed oblivious to the class.

Daniel raised both his eyebrows and Madison let a smallest of smiles appear on her face, because of the childishness of what they were doing. Both of Madison's eyebrows rose right before the teacher spoke causing Madison to tear her gaze away from Daniel. "Madison have you written down the notes on the board?"

"Uh, almost miss." Madison quickly picked up her pen that she had taken out when Daniel was standing in front of her.

"Is that so? Because it seems that you have just been staring at the other side of the class, for the past 5 minutes."

"Sorry miss." Madison was grateful that the teacher hadn't noticed her and Daniel's staring match and just noticed that she was staring at the other side of the classroom. However when she looked up at the board to copy down what she had to, she noticed a smirk on Daniel's face as he had his own head down looking at his work.

Madison hated having the classes or the teacher's attention on her especially when she was getting in trouble. She wished that Daniel would've got in trouble along with Madison but Madison knew as it was his only second day at school that he wouldn't get in trouble yet, and he wouldn't for about the next week, until the teachers got to know him a little, or as Madison would say from her limited knowledge of Daniel an annoying little shit.

Madison quickly finished scribbling down what she needed to as her phone buzzed on the table and Madison looked around to make sure nobody noticed and nobody was looking as Madison unlocked her phone to look at the text she received.

From: Sophia Dawson

I don't think anybody else noticed but I noticed you staring completion with Daniel and his little visit over here that was about more than just a pen, so what's that all about.

Madison read the message over twice before looking backwards and to her left to where Sophia sat. Sophia just stared at her and mouthed the word so? Madison didn't particularly want to elaborate but she knew that it wouldn't hurt to share her thoughts and at least sharing them with Sophia would let her get them off chest and she knew that Sophia would be the last person to judge or make fun of her for it, not that it was anything.

Instead of drawing more attention to herself and verbally replying to Sophia she decided to text back.

To: Sophia Dawson

Talk about it later, at break so we don't get in trouble for talking, and I don't want the other girls to know.

Madison looked up at her phone after she pressed send and heard Sophia's phone buzz on her own desk. Madison waited for a reply that she knew Sophia would probably give as she continued to write down the new information on the board.

Her phone buzzed again and she didn't have to look to know it was Sophia. She looked down to her lit up screen to read the message.

From: Sophia Dawson

Sounds intriguing, but you know you can tell me anything.

Madison did know that she could tell Sophia anything she could tell anything to any of the girls, including Madeline, it was just that she was the type of person to keep everything bottled inside until she was about to crying her eyes out because on little thing made her burst, and even then she would keep it to herself unless it was around someone else. It wasn't necessarily that Madison didn't want to talk to people about what she was thinking or feeling it was that she didn't know how to put her feelings into words.

To: Sophia Dawson

It's not really and I know that I can tell you or any of you guys anything.

Just as Madison pressed send, Mrs Walker spoke up drawing everybody in the classes attention to her, "If everybody could please get their homework out and ready for me to collect it would be greatly appreciated. Also if you don't have it please do not make excuses and just take the detention which will take place on your first place."

Madison flicked through her English book looking for her homework that she stayed up to the early hours of the morning to complete, however after she had flipped through the whole book, and did it again just to make sure she didn't miss it, she couldn't find it. Madison eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she knew that even in her tired state she had packed her homework.

Madison picked her bag up off the floor and sat it in her lap to have a quick look to see if it was in her school bag, but luck was not in her side today. Madison suddenly remembered something and looked up and across the room to Daniel, who held a piece of paper in his hands with a smirk across his face and Madison put the pieces together and noticed that when he was standing in front of Madison, aimlessly playing with her book, he actually stole her homework. What an asshole.

Madison stared at Daniel, her green/grey eyes narrowing and her confused expression turning into one of rage. Mrs Walker came up in front of Madison's desk, collecting Delilah's homework. "Madison, where is you homework."
"Miss, I swear I've done it, but-"
"Madison, do you have it right here with you?"
"No, but miss, its-"
"I don't want to hear your excuses, I will see you here at break for detention, with Miss Primus."

Oh dear god, was Madison's first thought because not only was detention because of Daniel bad enough, but detention with Miss Primus, an old annoying teacher was the worst thing that could of happened to Madison today.

The bell rang startling Madison slightly and she quickly packed everything into her bag, the rest of the class doing the same. Madison stood up waiting for her friends, Sophia and Delilah, so they could all head to their next class together, which was P.E, a class that all 3 of them disliked, because it meant running and shit and none of them were fans of physical activity.

As they walked out the door to the classroom, Madison only 2 steps behind the girls who were having a serious conversation about supernatural- a show Madison was yet to watch- she cast a sideways glance at Daniel, who was goofing around with his friends like he was innocent, asshole Madison thought as Daniel disappeared from her sight as Madison left the classroom.

*******
P.E. passed by quickly and Madison had only participated in the running and shit slightly. Madison headed towards her 'detention' with a slightly pissed expression on her face. She walked into the classroom where detention usually commenced. She took a seat at the back of the classroom and Miss Primus eyed her skeptically, like Madison was going to stand up and shoot the teacher or something, Madison just rolled her eyes in response.

However the next person that walked into the classroom, made Madison want to find a gun and shoot herself. Daniel smiled cheekily at Madison and came and sat right in the seat right in front of her, as there was a rule in detention that you couldn't sit next to another person.

Madison put her head down on her bag that was resting on the desk, hoping Daniel would take this as a sign to not talk to her, even though she knew it probably wouldn't work. And it didn't.

"Fancy seeing you here."
"Leave me alone." Madison groaned her head not moving from its position, which in turn caused her voice to be muffled.

"Now why would I do that?" You could hear the smirk in his voice, and I made Madison want to physically rip it off his face, or was that a little too violent? Madison didn't care.

Ignoring his question, Madison whispered, scared of getting in trouble from the teacher, "I know your new at this school so you might not know this, but there's a rule in detention of no talking." Madison briefly lifted her head up to give Daniel an evil glare, before putting her head back down.

"That may be true, but who's going to enforce it when the teacher is asleep." Madison lifted up her head and looked to the front of the classroom, to see that in fact the old teacher was asleep. Madison worried for a second that the teacher might be dead but a loud snore dismissed her worries and Madison had to bite back a laugh.

The two other students who were in detention upon realising the teacher was asleep quickly got up and left, leaving only Madison and Daniel- and a snoring teacher- in the classroom.

"God, I hate detention." Madison groaned to no one in particular.

"You know" Daniel paused, ruffling his hair and fixing it up, whilst Madison sat up and looked at him expectantly, "you wouldn't be here if you just told me what I wanted to know this morning."

"Are you kidding me?!" Madison almost yelled before lowering her voice a few octaves because she didn't want to wake the teacher. "You stole my homework, and made me get in trouble just so you could stick your nose in my business where it's not wanted."

"Not my problem, but I'm not leaving you alone until you tell me." Daniels voice was stern and Madison had a feeling he would keep to this.

"I hate you." Madison mumbled but it was defiantly loud enough for Daniel to hear and he did hear it.

Daniel turned around on his chair, on leg resting on each side of the back rest and he put his elbows on Madison's desk, sliding Madison's bag across one or two desk so there was nothing in between them. "C'mon don't be like that princess, I know you don't."

"I'll be however I want, thanks." If sarcasm could kill...
"Ok, can you please just tell me who it was, seriously this time?" Daniel sort of groaned and Madison rolled her eyes.

Madison considered lying, or being sarcastic for a moment but she knew that it mean she was stuck in here longer than what she needed to be with him. "It was my sister."

Daniel made a sound that sounded between a mixture of a snort and something else that she distinguish, but his face quickly turned back to serious, "Your sister, really? Because I don't believe you."

"Believe what you want but I'm telling the truth." Madison spoke looking up to meet Daniels warm brown eyes who were concentrated solemnly on her.

"Ok, what is her name?" Daniel inquired.
"Madeline McGuire," Madeline hoped that by answering quickly she could prove to a still doubtful Daniel that she wasn't lying.

Daniel raised his eyebrow incredibly high, "I find that hard to believe because I thought your last name was Bradshaw."

"My last name is Bradshaw, at least that's what I'm told." Madison whispered the last part incredibly quietly, hoping that Daniel wouldn't hear it but to Madison's surprise he did but didn't say anything or ask what the strange comment meant.

"I'm so incredibly confused, can you please elaborate."

"Ok fine, but I'm only explaining this once so keep up, and don't go around telling people otherwise I'm never talking to you again. Oh and please keep your questions till the end." Madison smiled a fake sweet smile.

Madison took a deep breath before beginning her mini-life story. "Madeline is my twin sister, but when we were babies we were both adopted into different families. I didn't even know I had any siblings let alone a twin sister, but three years ago Madeline got in contact with me. I found out when I was 11 that I was adopted but my parents wouldn't and still won't tell me anything about it, so when Madeline got in contact with me, I was unsure but I met up with her instantly and you could tell by our similarities that we were twins. I meet up with her in secret because if my parents found out I know they would make me stop meeting up with her."

Daniel sat in a stunned silence, and every now and then he would move his mouth like a gold fish trying to find the right words to say. "Weren't expecting that?"
"No not really." Daniel finally speaks again.
"Yeah well you wanted to know, and now you do."

"Can I ask a question?" Daniel had a soft look in his eye, like he was now treating Madison as something fragile and that could break at any moment with no warning.

Madison hated this. Everybody's reaction towards her when she told them she was adopted. The sympathy, the look they gave her- the look that sorry your parents didn't want you- the expression that said there must be something wrong with her if her parents didn't want her, treating her like an outsider, suddenly thinking she was fragile and couldn't do anything for herself otherwise she'd break. All of this is why she didn't make it public knowledge that she was adopted.

"Yeah sure you can ask me a question, but I'm not making any promise to answer it."

"Does it feel any different to be adopted, like do you get on with your adopted parents well?"

"That depends on the person, personally I don't get along with my parents but Madeline does. And it doesn't feel much different but there always feels like there's something missing."

"I know how you feel."

"Oh, your adopted?!" Madison's sarcasm was back, because she hated when people used that line against her, because 9 times out of 10 they didn't know how she felt.

"Well, no I'm not." Daniel suddenly looked slightly uncomfortable.

"Do you always feel like something is missing out of your life or don't get along with your parents?"
"No, not really."

"Then you don't know how I feel." Madison said it a little harsher than she meant too, but she was sick of people shoving their noses where they didn't belong and people always treating her differently.

"Maybe I do." Daniels voice was small and Madison wasn't sure if she liked this sudden change in his mood or not

"I doubt that and I'm not going to say that shit about 'you know my name not my story.' Because that's a load of bullshit, because I don't even know my own proper name, but just remember that you only know what I choose to tell you."

Madison stood up and grabbed her bag, ready to walk out of the classroom, even though she might get in trouble for leaving detention but she didn't care, she'd had enough of him.

"Where are you going?" Daniel looked up from staring at his hands to meet Madison's eyes.

"Anywhere but here." Madison paused before continuing, thinking of the right words to say. "Look, you've found out what you wanted to know about me, so from now on just please leave me alone."

Daniel didn't say anything in return but Madison didn't wait for his reply, she just turned her back on Daniel and walked out of the classroom, going to find Sophia because jeez did she have a lot to tell.
