Alex:

I woke up bright in early the next day, I didn't want to be late for my first day. It was very generous of Mr. Sloane to give me the job, I wondered if he did it because he felt bad for me.

I gathered my things after getting dressed and caught a cab from Rachel's to Sloane & Steele Inc. I researched many details about the company on my way so I didn't look stupid. I ended up finding an article called the history or Sloane & Steele Inc.

It started out just Steele Cooperative run by CEO Jason Steele, but 5 years after starting the major business he decided to take on a business partner Daltin Sloane and renamed the company Sloane & Steele Inc. I read through about three or four more paragraphs when the taxi approached the towering building.

I stepped out of the cab and adjusted by skirt. I decided to wear a sleek skirt and blouse that looked very professional. It was really nice of Rachel to let me borrow business attire. But, now that I had the job I was going ot need to get my own.

I hurried to the elevator and went to Mr. Sloane's floor where my assignments and Miss Hopkins awaits me.

"Good morning, Alexis." Riley Hopkins said in a rather eager voice.

"Good morning Miss Hopkins." I returned the greeting.

"Oh please call me Riley." She said smiling.

"Okay Riley please call me Alex or Lexi." I answered.

"Ok, then Alex, I am just so happy you're hear. Before today I was the only girl working on this floor. There was definitely too much testosterone on this floor." She giggle and hugged me.

"Oh gosh, that must have been miserable." I stated with a gentle smile.

"It was, anyways, lets get you started to work for Daltin." She said motioning to follow her.

Daltin. She calls him Daltin and not Mr. Sloane? That is different.

"Since you are now Daltin's PA I am taking over as Mr. Steele's PA because his took maternity leave last month and I've been both of their PA's since. I would stay as Daltin's but he seems quite taken with you and I am sure you will get along quite fine." She said leading me to a room only one door down from Mr. Sloane's which I presumed was my office.

"Here is your office, and Daltin's is right next door, so If you need anything see me or him. But, be sure to knock or call before going to see him." She warned. "Okay, so here is the list Daltin gave me for you t work on." She said handing the list to me.

"Okay I think I can do this." I said forcing a smile. The list was huge there had to be at least 8 or 9 things on it and it had to be done before lunch.

Then Riley left me to handle my work and I got right one it.

An hour into my work I got a phone call.

"Hello, Sloane & Steele Inc. Mr. Sloane's P.A. Alex speaking. How may I help you?" I said into the phone.

"Alexis, no need for a formal greeting. This phone is only connected to my office the ne on the right of your desk is for everybody else." He chuckled.

"Oh dear, I'm sorry." I apologized quickly.

"No need to apologize come to my office though quickly." He said hanging up the phone.

Daltin Sloane seemed like a gentle man. But I could tell there was a wild side to him.

I straightened my blouse and walked to Mr. Sloane's office. I didn't knock since I knew he knew I was coming.

"Miss Bentley." He snapped. "didn't anyone teach you how to knock?"

"I'm sorry sir, I didn't think I needed to since you called for me." I answered putting my head down.

"Always, always, knock no matter what the situation is. Do you understand?" He said in an angry tone.

"Of course. It won't happen again." I said trying to get off the subject as quickly as possible.

"Good, I need to to get me the Jefferson, King, and Tobias files from the record room and a cup of coffee." He said.

"I will do that now sir." I said turning to leave.

"One cube sugar and one cream in my coffee Miss Bentley." He said smirking as I left.

"Of course, sir, I will be right back."

I quickly went to find Riley as I didn't know where the record room is.

"Hey Riley, Mr. Sloane asked me to grab some files, do you know where the record room is?" I asked.

"Of course follow me." She waved.

We went down a dark hallway and through a conference room and there we found the record room.

"What are the files you needed?" She asked.

"Um I think it was Johnson, King, and Toby." I said trying hard to remember.

"Toby, you must mean Tobias." She smiled. I nodded.

She handed me the files and I returned to the break room and got Mr. Sloane his coffee. I made sure it had cream and his one sugar cube, then I brought all the items back to his office. I made sure to knock before entering.

"Come in." Mr. Sloane husky voice said.

"Here are the files and your coffee, sir." I said seeing him on his computer.

"Thank you, Miss. Blanchett. You are dismissed." He said not even looking up from his computer screen.

I then went back to my office and finished my work. There was still a lot to do and I didn't have much time to complete it. I was determined to not let Mr. Sloane's attitude get to me, I was going to work hard and do well at my job. I couldn't fail now. After all my whole family see's me as a failure. I had to exceed expectations.
