Fratelli

A/N
Personally, I find it obvious who the green-eyed man is, especially once you get through this chapter, but maybe that's because I'm the author.  But either way, for some weird reason I'm not going to reveal them yet. :/

Also: "Fratello" is Italian for "brother," and "Fratelli" is the plural version of "Fratello."

Also, feel free to comment and correct mistakes.  Or give tips.  Constructive criticism is the best.

Feel free to guess, though I probably won't confirm nor deny it.
Okay, time for the chapter!

Tuesday

Italy went to bed, but couldn't get to sleep.  He ended out staring at the ceiling for a while, hating the silence.

A couple of hours later, Italy heard the front door to the house open, and knew without going and looking that Romano had come home.  Italy didn't move from his spot until he heard his bedroom door open.

Feliciano turned his head to look at the door, and then slowly sat up.

"Welcome home, fratello," Italy said, smiling.

Romano glared at him. "I can tell you've been crying. Your eyes are red. So no more lying to me."

Italy sighed.  "I've never been able to successfully lie to you, have I?"

Romano went to the bed and sat down next to him, and when he spoke, his voice had actual, real emotion.  "Promise me that you won't try to lie to me anymore, okay?"

Feliciano rarely saw his brother like this.  His brother tried not to show that he cared, but it was moments like these that Feliciano knew that he definitely had someone on his side.  Someone who cares for him.

"Okay.  No more lying to each other."

Romano smiled.  "Fratello, I will always be here for you if you need help, support, or anything, even if it doesn't always seem like it."

"Thank you, Lovi."

"I know that you miss him," Lovino said quietly.  "I know that this is harder for you than pretty much any other nation.  It's the least that I can do."

Feliciano smiled his first at least partially real smile in days.  Lovino seemed satisfied with this for the time being, though he clearly knew that Italy still wasn't okay.

"Let me know if you need anything," Lovino said.  Feliciano agreed and Lovino left the room.

Italy smiled after this reminder that his brother still cares for him.

Feliciano sat on the bed, looking around for something to think about, but as he happened to glance a picture on the wall, he realized that nothing in this room was going to make him forget.

Not that he really wanted to forget, he just didn't necessarily want to be in the constant pain of thinking about it all of the time.

The picture was of him and the green-eyed man, both smiling.  Green Eyes had his hand resting something invisible next to him, and he had said he was petting a unicorn.  Italy hadn't been able to see it, but had easily put it out of his mind as he stood at the other side of the man, with an arm around the man's shoulders and a bright smile.

However, as Italy looked at that picture, he was suddenly startled.  Because for just a second, Italy thought he could see the unicorn, too.

Italy looked at the clock.  It was midnight, and Italy hadn't really slept all that much in the last couple days.

He stood up, and walked out, not being able to handle it in there right then.

He got himself a glass of water and then drank it.  He left the glass on the counter so that he could use it again, since it had been just water anyway.

Feliciano walked to Lovino's door, and considered knocking on it for a couple of seconds, but hesitated at the last second, his fist hovering in front of the door, wondering if he should really bother Lovino, even though he had said that he could.

The decision was made for him, however, as the door was opened.

"I thought I heard you outside my door.  Did you need me?"

Feliciano glanced at his own room, considering what to say.  He settled on saying, in a quiet voice, "I...I don't want to be alone right now."

Lovino stepped away from the doorway and gestured for Feliciano to come into the room.  "You can sleep in here, Fratello."

"Thank you."

"Sí, I'm happy to help you.  Now, you really do need sleep, so hurry up."

They climbed into bed, and in a couple of minutes, they were both sleeping.

Wednesday

Feliciano woke up in his brother's room.  He was alone, but he could smell breakfast being made, and assumed that it was his brother.  A few minutes later, Lovino asked from outside the room.

"Fratello, are you awake?"  Lovino asked.

Feliciano sat up.  "Sí."

"Well get your a$$ out here to get your breakfast."

"I'm not really hungry."

"I don't care.  Come over here and eat the pasta I've already made for you."

"Okay, I'll be there soon..."  Feliciano reluctantly stood up.

A couple moments later, Italy was sitting down to eat with Romano.  They ate their food, talking a bit, but not much.

The conversation turned more serious once they were done.

"The funeral is on Friday," Lovino said.

Feliciano sighed.  "I know..."

"You are going, right?" Lovino asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Of course I am," Italy snapped, then sighed again.  "...Sorry."

"It's okay, it was a dumb question," Romano replied, looking at his plate like he wished he still had good left.  "Of course you're going, and I'm going, too."

"Why do you think he did it?"  Feliciano asked quietly.

Romano thought for a moment before shrugging.  "I don't know.  All I know is what was in the letter.  In fact, we already know more about why than most of the nations."

"I didn't even see it coming."  Tears were slipping from his eyes.  Lovino walked around the table and hugged Italy, trying to comfort his brother.

"None of us did," Romano whispered.

So... A more reasonably sized chapter, I suppose.

Please correct me, I'm writing this at around two thirty in the morning, so...

I'll probably rewrite this chapter or edit it a lot before making a new chapter, just saying.  Now, I seriously have to go to sleep... So, bye.
