Chapter One

"But I don't want to get married not to even to speak of actually starting a real relationship with someone I barely know." Zoey said out loud not accepting the request her parents had just made.

She can't believe, the only way to save her father's dear company is getting engaged with someone she barely knows.

“It could be an old man." Zoey shoke her head quickly to stupid thoughts.

"Zoey, don't you want to help this family,at least just once in your life time." A woman in her forties said.

"Mum,once in a lifetime seriously? I am not your adopted child, okay? I'm your biological child." Zoey put emphasis in the last sentence, "So you thinking I should pay you back for all what you have done for me by getting married at this age, it's a lie, mother." Zoey said as she walked to the dinning table, where her elder sister was busy enjoying the evening with a juice and her laptop not minding what they were even saying.

"Zoey, you would listen to your parents." A man in his mid fifties reprimanded her.

Zoey knows that out of everyone in the house, she doesn't dare offend her father.

I mean, he's the firece defender of this family.”

Zoey faked a smile, clapping her hands together as she moved closer to her Dad, standing beside him, Zoey knew she was a little short beside him, even at his mid fifties, he's still looks stunning.

"You know I love you and this family," Zoey confessed as she continued to put on her best attitude in front of her father, "But, I have school and you yourself, knows how school is? It's really stressing, and you really want your last sweetest child to leave the house, before Ivy." Zoey said as she pointed to her elder sister who responded Zoey back with a frowned deadly glare.

"I know, Zoey but you are our only hope and chance now." Her father said, holding her two hands together.

"But Dad, you really expect me to get married to an old man?" Zoey cried out loudly, "Imagine me, Zoey, I'm always proud in school,I wear the best dress," She agonized hurriedly, pacing back and forth the living room, "I brag, I'm the queen of parties and you really expect me to get married to an old man."

"Zoey, chills," Her mother said, moving towards her as she held Zoey's shoulders, "Breathe." She added as Zoey did as she said by breathing in for two seconds and breathing out for four seconds, she repeated it four times before she stopped looking at her mother, "Are you okay now?"

"Yeah, probably." Zoey supposed.

"You are not getting engaged with an old man or whatsoever you had just said..... you are getting married to a guy in your school." Her mother said happily as Zoey widened her eyes.

“A guy in school. Who could it be? Josh, Benjamin, No, he's a gay or maybe David,no that's my ex, fuck why I'm I even thinking about that shit or it could be James,no he died two years ago.”

"Mom, I've tried thinking of who it could be, could you give me a hint?" Zoey said with a nervous smile.

"Sure, it's Logan Mark."

Zoey choked hearing that name, she could feel goosebumps all over her body.

"I'm sorry, who?" Zoey said with prayer in her mind, hoping her Mom won't repeat that name again.

"Logan Mark." Zoey watched as her mother's mouth move slowly.

Zoey gulped heavily.

Logan Mark-My childhood crush, I mean he has never given me a glimpse before, maybe because I was always hiding from him anytime,I hear his name or sight him, he's like one of the hottest and eligible bachelor in our school, what I'm I saying,he is the one.”

"Mom,I think I need to hit the hay." Zoey said hurriedly as she turned slowly with a confused face as she walked upstairs slowly.

                      ~°~°~°~
As glass shattered on the floor of a living room, with Logan breathing heavily, standing beside a broken television with a baseball bat in his hand, that had small cut due to the broken television.

"Logan." A woman who still looked young in her mid thirties trembled in fear, seeing her son being so agressive.

"What's your problem?Huh," Logan said, moving closer to his mother, holding the baseball bat firmly in his hand as his mother moved two steps back.

"Logan, just calm down, I'm just trying to help." His mother said as she covered her mouth with her hand, trying to stop herself from crying.

Logan stopped a two inches in front of her, "Then you need to stop trying to help, because everything you do, doesn't seem to come up to my satisfaction." He said, there was mixture of sadness and anger in his words.

"Logan, please." His mother whimpered.

"Where's my father? Because I know without his order, you wouldn't go ahead and make a stupid engagement between I," Logan said, pointing to himself, "and a girl I barely even know, mother."

"Don't worry, you could, you know go on dates with her and you would know her very much." His mother said, as she tried hard to smile.

"I asked you a question- where is my father?" Logan said.

"He's upstairs in his study room." His mother said.

Logan scoffed, dropping the baseball bat on the floor as it made an annoying sound, making his mother shriek timidly,he gave his mother one last look, before turning to go upstairs.

"Logan," His mother said as he stopped his tracks but didn't turn around to look at her, "I'm just trying to make moments for you, you know sometimes, you would never know the value of moments until it becomes a memory."

"I don't have to chase extraordinary moments just to find happiness,it is right in front of me,if I'm paying attention and passing gratitude and by the way," Logan said, looking at his mother, "It's preferable not to travel with a dead man."
