Chapter 14
"Hey guys!"
I looked around to find Brady coming up the bleachers and I had never been more happy to see him. "Hey Brady! Look it's Brady!" I shouted enthusiastically.
"Hey there beautiful ,how are you doing?" He asked kindly.
' Beautiful? The boys at the school have a damn cheek. '
And in deed they did.
"I'm great!"
My smile stretched from ear to ear and I I only realised it when I noticed the strange look that Trent had given me. I excused Brady for being inappropriate since he was my excuse for a change of topic.
"That's great," he said, switching looks between Trent and I. He himself was just as confused as Trent was.
"Um... Are you guys okay?" Brady asked.
"We are now that you're here."
That was meant to be a thought that I was going to keep to myself, I was never meant to say that out loud. I'm pretty sure that my cheeks turned a bush pink from the embarassment and I was slowly starting get annoyed with myself.
"I mean we needed change of topic," I added.
It was only getting more and more humiliating.
"What were you guys talking about?" Brady asks.
He was of no help at all. But Trent was
"Nothing really," he answered.
He seemed disappointed about me rejecting his invite but I was not prepared to break out of my house just to go to some party. I was so sure that I wouldn't enjoy it and since I was not used to being a real teenager, I was one hundred percent sure that I would feel out of place.
"We were just talking about how my dad almost made me take the bus alone," I added. Brady looked at Trent bemused. I guess no one expected to hear something like that from the ' daddy's little girl'.
"Yeah it's actually a long story. Anyways, where's your little friend?"
It was obvious that they were talking about the little red devil: Trina. I sensed a little tension between Trent and I but I didn't let it play on my mind because I assumed it was nothing. I really thought he was just trying to brush off the topic.
"She's getting her mom to bring her," answered Brady.
''What did you do this time Brady?"asked Trent.
"I didn't do anything! I texted her last night after the party then all of a sudden I was getting the cold shoulder."
Trent found Brady's predicament amusing and it seemed as if Brady did too.
I couldn't laugh with them because I wasn't really sure of what happened at that party but I'm sure that Trina was just being full of shit. As usual.
I found it hard to believe that Brady did something to offend her.
At the time.
'Trina and Brady share a rather strange dynamic.'
Was what innocent me thought because I couldn't understand their ' not dating but close ' relationship.
"Uh guys I need to go to my locker," I said. "We'll walk you," Trent quickly added.
"Perfect."
'Not that I wanted you to come.'
We got off the bleachers and made our way to the halls. I found my locker on my own the day before. It was better than the locker I owned in my previous school. I have more space for books and clothes.Trent and Brady talk along the way but I don't really pay attention to their conversation.
All I think about is how close Trent was and how he was playing with my hair. There is no way he would have done all of that for nothing. I wish I knew what his deal was." Kourt you are such a drama queen! Did you seriously scream the whole way?" Brady asked with amusement.
"Huh?" I asked while loading books into my locker. "I was telling Brady about your joyride to school," Trent smirked.
' My joy what?'
When I turned around I noticed their idiotic grins. Instead of wasting my energy on an argument I decided to entertain their crap. " Oh yes! My joy ride of death!"
I might have made a scene but I was so pissed off that it didn't really bother me. I slammed my locker door and was prepared to walk away Brady and Trent.
"Come on ,Kourt we're just messing with you," Trent called out.
Funny enough, I was tempted to believe them until they laughed at my expense for a second time. I joined in after admitting to myself that I was actually being a little ridiculous about the bike then and I guess I was a bit too dramatic.
"In my defence I've never been on a motorcycle nor a bicycle for that matter, " I said. They both stopped laughing then look at me as if they had seen a ghost.
"What?" I ask.
"You've never been on a bicycle? Ever?" Trent asked.
'Did I not just say that?'
"Nope. Never."
"So you can't ride a bike?" Brady asked in further disbelief.
"Well if I've never been on a bike then I'm sure it means that I don't know how to ride one," I explained.
I explained slowly so he could understand.
The bell rang for morning registration and since I wasn't getting anywhere with Tweedledee and Tweedledum, I decided to leave them and walk to homeroom by myself.
As I entered the class I noticed Jessica sitting at our place with books spread across her desk as well as mine.
"Hey Jess," said as I took my seat beside her.
She seemed to be more focused on completing her homework so I took out a book to read instead of bothering her. Our teacher walked in and attempted to settle us down. She called out each person's name on the class list and filled out the absenteeism.
"Kourt ,when did you get here?" Jessica asked while rushing through her homework."I actually got to school early,"I answered.
"Oh. Sorry as soon as I got to school I came here to get my homework done."
"Oh that's okay .. I was with Trent and Brady."
"I'm sorry about that too," she said sarcastically.
"I actually came to school with Trent."
"You came to school on the Trent-a-saurus-rex'!"
'The what?'
She didn't know how loud she was until she looked up and noticed that the whole class was silenced by her outburst. It was a little embarrassing but I was more interested in the whispering took place among the students after Jessica's outburst.
"I saw Trent's bike in the school's parking. Were you really on that?" She asked.
A little more quiet than before, thankfully.
I scoped the room and couldn't help but notice that the ' pretty girl group' exchanged grins and kept glancing at me and Jessica.
"Yeah. My dad was going to make me take the bus , but then Trent saw me and insisted that he should bring me to school," I explained.
Kristine and her friends started to make me feel uncomfortable. It looked like she was getting ready to come over and talk to me but she was too late because I was saved by the bell. Jessica closed all her books and shoved them into her bag.
"You have things to tell me missy," she said pointing at me and running out the door to her first class. I raced out to my first lesson. Not because I was not worried about being late but I was worried about Trina, Kristine and Shannon wanting to talk to me.
