Extraction

Where you father worked seemed small from the outside, just a normal business office. You and Mark walk in and are greeted by a secretary behind a desk. She smiles at you and then buzzes you in. You both continue on down a hallway to an elevator.

"That seems like crappy security," you mumble, pressing the button marked 3B.

Mark just shrugs and leans against one of the walls.

'He must be nervous...'

The doors open to reveal your cousin Daniel in a long white coat, a clipboard at his side.

"Long time no see!" He says, practically pulling you out of the elevator into a hug. You heard he has gotten an internship, but didn't think it was with your father.

He turns to Mark and smiles, "And this must be our 'test subject'," he says playfully, "Mr. Fischbach. My name is Daniel."

He holds out his hand, to which Mark firmly shakes. Daniel leads you from there on through the bleach white-walled hallways, past multiple key-card locked rooms and analysis laboratories. You and Mark looked at everything in amaze, it was as new to you as it was to him.

Daniel swipes his badge and leads you through, your father standing behind a desk, his glasses reflecting the screen.

You eye the two large block in the room and all other machinery, then return to your father. He lifts his eyes from the screen, standing straight before making his way over to you. As does everyone else, he holds out his hand to Mark, exchanging a handshake and names.

"Now," your father begins, "we'll need to do some blood work and scans before we can start."

----------After Tests and Analysis-----------

Marks POV

I return back to the room in a hospital gown, feeling the chilling air sting my skin.

"Are you ready?" Her father asks.

I nodded, looking to (f/n) and giving her a small smile as I was ushered into one of the two containment rooms. Daniel took the gown from me, saying it would possibly affect the outcome or something, so I gave it up unwillingly. I was glad I could at least keep my briefs on. The door made a deep rattle as it closed behind me and then all noise stopped. Isolation except for the small window on the door.

"How do you feel, Mark?" A voice asks over the intercom.

"Uh... Fine, I suppose. A bit exposed," I say, adjusting the elastic of my briefs.

"We're going to start the extraction, tell us if you feel like you're going to be sick, or pass out."

I just nod my head, hearing the whirring of machinery starting up. I close my eyes, trying to clear my mind.

'This is good riddance,' I think, partly to myself, partly to the entity.

'I've already 'made my mark', this is just the beginning,' it retorts.

I furrow my brow, 'What?'

The voice grows distant, all I am able to catch is, 'Oh, you'll see...'

"Mark, you need to clear your mind. We're seeing some spikes on the EEG."

I shake my head and clear my mind once more, I would have time to think after. I hear a high pitch ringing in my ears, making my stomach flip, but I held back the bile trying to make its way up my throat. I just wanted this to be over and done with.

After that, it felt like I lost my bearings, the feeling my feet had left the ground and I was floating. I was dizzy. I felt weightlessness until I fell to the ground, blacking out for a brief moment.

Your POV

You watch from your fathers side as he checks the computers, looking over the video feed and the graphs, your cousin advently taking notes along his side. He presses his finger down once more on the intercom button.

"Mark, you need to clear your mind. We're seeing some spike on the EEG."

You see Mark nod, relaxing his body and face. You shifted nervously, feeling unease, the machinery overwhelming your thoughts.

You father looks back and forth to the two video feeds, and slams his hand down.

"It worked! We have successfully extracted it!"

You feel you bottom lip start to burn as you see Marks body crumple to the ground. You want to run in there, but know you can't do anything until the machine cools down. You cousin places his hand on your shoulder, knowing how you were feeling. You weakly smile at him, heaving a sigh.

You feel your eyes pull over to the other video, seeing a figure standing there, soon approaching the door of the container. You shift your eyes over to the little window, seeing the figure approach it and look around, locking eyes with you. You lick your bottom lip, feeling the burning get worse and bring your hand up to cup your mouth as the burn keeps intensifying.

Entitys POV

All I can hear is a ringing in my ears as I'm pulled away, my last few connections snapping from Marks subconscious. I feel cold ground under my feet, the sound of machinery humming.

Then, "It worked! We have successfully extracted it!"

I open my eyes, seeing the blinding white room surrounding me. I squinted my eyes, but felt anticipation within me.

'I have a body...'

I walk up to the tiny window on the door and peer out, scanning the room until I saw her. Both of our eyes went wide as our gazes locked, but while her mouth was agape, a creeping smile was sneaking onto my face.

My smile turns into an all knowing grin as she licks at her bottom lip, bringing her hand up to cup her mouth.

I could feel my body shaking from excitement as I mouthed to her, "Ah, exactly as planned..."

I shift my gaze to her father, gritting my teeth.

"Oh, how long I've waited to see the man who has kept me trapped," I say, loud enough for them to hear.

Her father readjust his glasses, but never looks at me, "What should we call you?" He says, nearly robotically.

"Tch," escapes my lips as I turn and begin to pace the room, but stop, feeling a wide grin grace my face, "Call me... Mara."

Marks POV

I held my head, feeling it spin and pulse with pain. I got up, staggering to the opening, and exited the chamber, knees weak. I braced myself against the doorway and tried to regain my breath

"Are you okay?" She asks, rushing over, "Do you need help?"

I nod and she places her shoulder under my arm, keeping me stable as she pulls me along.

"Take him back to the room to rest, we'll continue our tests here," her dad said, seeming to feel her unease, "Daniel, continue on the report. After you're done, follow up on Mark for vitals."

I shift my attention to (f/n). She was watching the container as we left the extraction area, eyes wide and never blinking.

Your POV

You and Mark stumble along the hallway, him braced on one of your shoulders. You slightly shudder under him as you remember what it looked like inside that chamber, eyes never leaving you.

You run your tongue over the inside of your lips, thinking about the burning sensation from earlier.

Mark knees buckle and you give a bit, quickly picking him back up.

"You okay?" You ask, concerned.

"Yeah... just... dizzy," he huffs out.

You hear running footsteps approach you, and you turn, seeing Daniel.

He stops to catch his breath, "(f/n)," he wheezes, "It's your father... Ah, we gotta go."

You move to a wall, letting Mark brace himself so you can readjust.

"What? What's going on?"

Suddenly, red lights start to flash all down the hall, blaring a loud siren. You all hear the intercom crackle as a man starts to announce.

"This is an evacuation, code 539, this is an evac- gah!"

The intercom produces a loud bang, following by yelling and popping noise, similar to gun shots.

The intercom goes silent.

The siren turns off, but the lights still flash. The intercom crackles once again, your eyes going wide as you hear a familiar voice.

"Hahaha, Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the show! Presenting yours truly!" Its voice shouts, making the intercom whine and ring, "Now, all we need is our guest of honor...Come out, come out, where ever you are..." it growls, turning off the intercom.

"Crap, come on!" Daniel exclaims, picking up Mark from his other shoulder, "We gotta go!"

Marks POV

I was slipping in and out of consciousness as they dragged me along. We entered a darkened room, and Daniel set me down on a hospital bed.

"We have to leave him here," he says, out of breath.

"What?! No! That thing could come and..." she trails off.

"I'll lock the door, there's no window, it won't even know he's in there. Come on!" He grabs her and pulls her out of the room. A beeping noise comes from the other side of the door, followed by two sets of footsteps: one rushing, one hesitating.

I lay my head back, feeling kind of crappy that I got ditched, but it was for the best. I was just weighing them down.

"Mark?" I hear (f/n)s voice say outside the door.

I hold my breath, waiting for her to say something else.

"Tch... (f/n)! Where are you?!" I hear in her fathers voice, two sets of footsteps trailing off.

I grit my teeth, wanting to get up and murder that thing, but instead, I decide to lay my head back and try to re-cooperate, hoping they can out run it long enough.
