Eve Of The End

You return from the bathroom, still licking your bottom lip on occasion, and see Mark in deep thought. A blush covers your cheeks as you remember what had just transpired. He didn't even seem to notice you come back into the room, nor did he react when you sat down next to him. You place a hand on his leg and he jumps, whipping his head around.

"Jeez," he says, holding his chest, "don't do that!"

You smile, "You okay?" You never really saw him deep in thought, so much that he would zone out.

"Yeah, I think so," he yawns.

You wondered if you both were talking about the same thing, but brush it off, not wanting to bring it up... it was still fresh, still embarrassing. You notice it was one in the morning and you still had packing to do.

"I'm gonna go finish packing. You should get some rest though, you can't keep staying awake."

Marks POV

I really wanted to tell her what had just happened. I was so lost in my thoughts, my anger, my want, that I didn't notice her sit down next to me and touch my leg. I jumped and looked at her, holding my chest in relief.

"Don't do that!"

She smiles, asking me if I was okay. Was I that zoned out that she was worried, or...

"Yeah, I think so," I say, letting out a yawn.

I was exhausted, my whole body was sore.

"I'm gonna go finish packing. You should get some rest though, you can't keep staying awake."

She was right.

"Don't I know it. Trust me, I'm about to pass out," I lazily laugh.

She embraces me for a quick moment then gets up, hesitating before she opens the door and leaves.

I lay in bed, running over the night in my head. The whole thing was... odd. I tried to block out the noises she made, as to not get excited again, but it automatically played out, leaving my face hot once again. Continuing the line of thought, though, my face fell as the words came to mind.

"I will let no one else have you."

I rolled on my side, mind racing.

'What... did you mean by that?' I try to gain a response from it, but there is no reply.

I feel my chest tighten, and close my eyes, trying to drift off to sleep. I felt dizzy, my heart beating fast and strong... like an arrhythmia? Not quite.

My stomach churned as I realized, it wasn't my heart beating fast... it was two heart beats.

Your POV

Your mind begins racing as soon as you enter your apartment. You unconsciously move and take a seat on your couch, replaying the night in your head. You push back the need to squeal like a love-sick girl multiple times, feeling your face heat up more and more. You begin to chew on your lip, but soon stop, feeling a burning from your bottom lip.

'It was a bit surprising, but he was in the heat of the moment,' you remind yourself.

You're pulled out of your thoughts by your phone buzzing in your pocket. You pull it out, looking at the called ID. Restricted. You huff a sigh and answer.

"It's one in the morning, what do you want?"

"I just wanted to check on how things were going, even though you'll be here in two days," you hear your father say on the other end of the line.

"Just dandy, now can I go to bed?" There's a hint of aggravation in your voice.

"...Do you hate me?"

You feel a sting in your chest, "I... dad, no. I don't."

The line goes silent for a moment.

He clears his throat, resuming his nonchalant voice, "I'll see you in two days... don't worry, everything will be for the best."

You bite your lip, pushing aside the pain, "I hope so."

Marks POV

'...-ark...Mark..?'

I awake, feeling the sun burn my eyes. I try to recall when I went to bed, and the night prior, but it seemed sort of a blur. I remembered the general gist of it though.

'Mark?' I hear in the back of my head, but the voice is light.

"What?" I say, groggily getting up and heading to the bathroom.

It stays silent as I go to the kitchen, make some breakfast and sit down at the table.

'You should stop, ya know, with her,' it begins again, its voice still airy.

I gulp down a bite of toast, an angry sigh escaping my lips.

"Yeah? And why should I listen to you?" I ask, setting down my fork.

My mind goes quiet again. Maybe it was still tired. Or maybe it couldn't find the right words? I shake my head, concluding that my mind was much better silent. Even then, why was my mind filled with questions I wanted to ask?

'I'm gonna go finish packing'

The trip... it was two days from now. Crap, then that meant Christmas was tomorrow! I scarf down the rest of my breakfast, trying to figure out what I could get her.

Your POV

"I love you, (f/n)," he says, his bare body above yours.

Your eyes shoot open, your breath heavy. You sit up and look around your room, realizing it was just a dream.

'Just a dream?!' You blush, wiping the drool from the corner of your mouth, a small smile forming on your lips, 'Sign me up for ano-... NO!.. god.' You bury your face in your hands, feeling your blush worsen.

After you brush your teeth, you turn your bottom lip over to look at the bite again. You run your tongue over it, seeing that it was healed, but also, that there were tiny marks surrounding it.

'Guess it was more than just an incisor...'

You spend your day catching up on Marks videos, re-watching a few old ones. You didn't watch the game play though, just his face, feeling butterflies in your stomach.

Your phone rings and you regretfully pause the video, answering the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey..." you hear Elena's voice, "how've you been? I heard you're coming back soon."

You smile, "Yeah... we should, ya know, hang out and stuff."

She giggles, "I like stuff. But, totally, just let me know, okay?"

She pauses for a moment before starting again, "How are things with Mark?"

Your smile widens as you blush and look to his cam in the top right hand corner of the video.

"Good, I suppose."

"Oooo, could he be 'da one'?" You could hear a smile in her voice.

"Shut up," you say, fiddling with a pencil, "... I hope so."

"This... obsession isn't healthy," he says, flipping through a book, "honestly, it seems like you like him more than me."

You pause the video and turn to Christian, your boyfriend at the time, "We already talked about this. He is unobtainable. I like him in the sense that he is amazing for what he's done. Aaaand his humour. Just let me fangirl, like you fanboy about Tali."

"That's totally different, she's a fictional character..." he closes his book and sets it down, "I just... sorry, I don't think I can do this."

He gets up and grabs his jacket, walking out of your room and leaving.

"You ever going to tell me about your escapades?" She asks, bringing you out of your thoughts.

"Yeah, we'll have a sleep over and gossip about how he's such a hunk," you roll your eyes and laugh.

"Pshh-shaw, you know I'm more of a Cry girl," she says with a tone of embarrassment.

"And this is why we are friends. I'll get in touch with you when we land, okay?"

"Okay... wait, we?" She asks, confused.

You bite your lip, "Yeah... uhm, Mark is coming with me."

"Oh, wow," she says, but soon giggles, "he could have at least proposed first."

"Ha ha, very funny," you say, catching on to her dirty joke, "Talk to you later."

Marks POV

I upload some videos for the day and recline back in the computer chair. I was hoping I had enough recorded for the trip. I look over to the few haphazardly wrapped gifts. I couldn't decide on one thing and I didn't know her that well. One of the presents, although it made me feel full of myself, was one of the live stream charity shirts.

'Hey, look, all I have to go off of is your stupid videos that she watches religiously,' its voice said, matter-o-factly.

The second one was a necklace: black and white crystal with a gold lining around it. I sigh and continue recording videos until the end of the day, heading to bed around midnight. As I lie in bed, my phone dings and I grab it, smiling as I look over the message from (f/n).

'Merry Christmas!'
