V2 Ch9: Mission Morning
(...AD MORTEM INOVI-)
3rd Person Pov
The talk with Ironwood after the fiasco at the CCT could only be described as awkward. And it was still more of an interrogation than anything else. Eventually though, the two were released from the general's clutches, and ordered to return to the party. He didnt want any suspicions popping up.
Ever since they had returned to the ballroom to hide in the corner however, the silence between the duo was thick enough to cut through. Y/n had stolen one of the tablecloths and used it to wrap up the broken pieces of his sword, and used a piece of string he cut from a balloon to tie the thing together.
He also hadnt bothered to replace his suit jacket. He simply couldnt be bothered to.
He had done nothing but stare at the bag since, and Ruby didnt really blame him. She had her share of broken weapons before Crescent Rose, and it was always a strange feeling. She knew he would be alright, he was probably just kinda pissed. So was she to be honest, so she opted to leave him be for the moment.
It wasnt long though before their solitude was broken, surprisingly by not only Yang, but Blake as well. The former instantly noticing the state of the two, and moving to say something.
Yang: "Jeez, what's got you two so moody over here?"
Y/n and Ruby shared a glance for a moment before turning back to face their teammates.
Ruby: "Its kind of a long story..."
Y/n: "One that can wait till later..."
Blake seemed to deadpan for a moment, her mind attempting to draw conclusions.
Blake: "Please dont tell me you went and blew up something on campus..."
Lacking the willingness to grace her question with a verbal response, Y/n merely shrugged. Ruby luckily jumped in to save their skins however.
Ruby: "No we didnt blow anything up. Although I'm sure that would make this guy plenty happy right now."
She playfully elbowed her shadow partner in an attempt to lighten the mood, which thankfully succeeded as he smiled a bit, returning the gesture with a silent chuckle.
Seeing that things were ok for the time being, Yang decided to move the conversation along.
Yang: "Well we shouldn't be stuck here too long. I think people are just waiting to clear out now."
An idea suddenly crashed through Yangs mind, not at all concealed by the almost scheming smile on her face.
"I got an idea. Why dont you head on up there and give em a parting ways song, eh Y/n?"
Y/n merely cocked an eyebrow at the suggestion, glancing at the stage to see it was in fact empty, save for a stool and a microphone.
'Oh she totally planned that.'
He turned his gaze to Ruby next, who merely shrugged, but it was obvious to him that she wouldnt mind one bit. He sighed for a moment, before handing Blake the folded cloth in his hands.
Y/n: "Do me a favor and hang onto that."
The three watched as Y/n stepped back slightly into the dark part of the corner, before a shadow began to walk it's way along the wall and up onto the nearby stage.
Stepping from the darkness at the back of the stage, he quickly gathered people's attention as he sat the stool by the microphone and turned it on, the resounding feedback quickly alerting the rest of the ballroom to his presence.
The room quieted as they waited for his words.
Y/n: "Y'know, if you were to ask me, tonight went pretty well."
There were a few resounding whoops and 'yeah's from the crowd.
"We danced, listened to some good music, made new friends, someone spiked the punch, hell, some dude even showed up in a dress."
He threw a quick smile at Jaune standing by his team in the far corner, now promptly back in his suit, he laughed with the rest of the crowd before raising his cup to the air with pride. Y/n felt a twinge of respect for Jaune right then.
Y/n continued to speak as he let a few streams of shadow flow around his hands.
"Yeah...people made a lot of good memories tonight. And this is one of those nights that will stick with you your whole life. You'll always be able to look back at this moment and smile. So why not end it off with one last song eh?"
There was a much louder round of cheering from the students in the room, begging for something to send them off. He smiled as he allowed a classic acoustic to pull itself from the shadows he toyed with, tuning it carefully.
"Well alright then. It's always been my opinion that a good song, tells a good story. And a good story, is what everybody wants when they listen to something. So heres a story for all of you. Listen though, or you'll miss it."
And with nothing else to say, he lightly strummed the guitar to make sure it was tuned right. Satisfied with the instruments response, he settled in, and began.

Yang Pov
Back at the dorm
I dont think I could've said it much better than Y/n did honestly. Tonight was pretty good. People had fun at the party, and that's what counted. But once we all got back to the dorm, sis and Y/n were able to tell us what happened at the CCT.
I had to admit it was kinda worrying, knowing that some stranger was lurking around the campus somewhere, breaking into places and beating up entire squadrons of guards.
I had agreed with the rest of the team though when they all suggested we try and get some sleep. Surprisingly enough though I didnt find myself tired at all. I was just kinda lying awake through most of the nightly hours. Eventually i just said screw it and got up to use the bathroom.
Stepping back out though I was met with Y/n sitting at the desk on the right side of the door. He was just sitting there, staring at that cloth he had earlier. It was unrolled now, allowing me to see that it was hiding his sword the entire time, which was now in pieces.
(What? Did ya think I was gonna go and give you a paragraph of Yang doin her lady business? Pervs.)
I had a pretty good idea what was swimming around in his head, mainly just from the look on his face. And honestly I get it. But maybe he just needed to say it, so I decided to ask him anyway. Obviously speaking lowly to avoid waking the others.
Yang: "What's got you up still?"
He turned his head to look at me for a moment, slowly pulling himself out of his thoughts, responding in a similar hushed tone. He was clearly tired though.
Y/n: "I suppose you could look at it as some form of enraged restlessness..."
Content to try and help him out, I pulled the chair from the other desk over and sat next to him, taking my own look at the blade for a moment.
The once massive sword that he had easily hoisted around with one hand was now in what seemed to be three equal pieces, the remnant of the blade on the hilt having a jagged and sharp point. All things considered, it would still make a good dagger.
Yang: "Its about that lady you two fought right? Pissed off she broke your sword?"
He seemed to mull the thought around for a moment.
Y/n: "That's only a small part of it. She was toying with us Yang. We were just playthings to her. If she had actually gone all out, she would have snuffed us out like candles. I was totally powerless in that situation."
Well, he let that out easier than I thought he would. I guess he has gotten a lot better with sharing how he feels. At least when one of us asks him.
I tried my best to be reassuring patting him on the back. I mean, he and Ruby are crazy for eachother, so it was pretty easy for me to look at him as a sort of brother figure. Which if I was entirely honest with myself, might not just be a figure of speech in the far future.
Part of it that makes it easier is he is totally okay with it. I call him 'bro' or 'brother' all the time, and it's just a normal thing now.
Yang: "I get what you mean bro. I really do, but unfortunately sitting here glooming over the pieces of your sword wont change it. Best you can do here, is move on, do your best to improve. So that way if you ever have to be in that situation again, your ready."
A quick moment of silence followed before I tried to lighten him up a little.
"And let's be perfectly honest here, your becoming a huntsman alongside Rubes of all people. You'll be getting in plenty of trouble."
He let out a quick chuckle before replying in a playfully sarcastic tone. He seemed back to his normal self for now.
Y/n: "Yeah, oookay 'Firecracker'. Dont act like your not gonna be picking fights everywhere you go."
The both of us laughed quietly for a moment before I collected myself and responded.
Yang: "Your damn right. And dont you forget it!"
Shaking his head with a smile, Y/n wrapped up the blade again and placed it off to the side of the desk.
Y/n: "We should get to sleep. Big day in the morning, what with missions and all. Plus me and rosebud have to go see Ozpin."
I was pretty quick to agree with him, since I was finally getting pretty tired. I gave him one last pat on the back and a goodnight before clambering back into bed. I was out like a light the moment my face met the pillow.

The Next Morning
Proffesor Ozpins Office
3rd Person Pov
Ozpin: "Calm yourself general."
Ironwood: "They were here, Oz. HERE! Right under our noses!"
A deeply frustrated James Ironwood paced angrily back and forth in the center of Ozpins office, while the former sat composed at his desk leaning on his elbows in deep thought, Proffesor Glynda Goodwitch standing just beside him, who seemed less tolerant of the generals disposition.
Glynda: "Yes! We're very much aware of that James!"
Ironwoods temperament does'nt quell for a nanosecond as he dramatically throws his hands in the air. Responding with no small amount of snark to show his anger.
Ironwood: "Fantastic! You're aware! Now, aee we going to do something about it? Or are we just going to continue sitting here, ignoring what is right in front of us!?"
Before Glynda had the opportunity to snap back at James, the intercom on Ozpins desk let out its signature chime. Someone was at the door. He pushed the button on the intercom as the door unlocked.
Ozpin: "Come in."
Quickly composing themselves, the three figures faced the elevator doors, which smoothly opened to reveal the students of the hour as they stepped into the silent room.
Ruby: "Sorry it took so long. Someone decided it was a good idea to hit all the buttons in the elevator on the way up...it wasnt me."
Y/n: "Yeah, sure it wasnt."
Not at all fazed by the peculiar antics of the two teenagers before him, Ozpin greets them both.
Ozpin: "Thank you for joining us Ruby, Y/n. How are you feeling?"
The Rose in question shared a look with her partner, who merely shrugged, eliciting her response.
Ruby: "Okay I guess. Probably would feel better if our bad-guy-catching record wasnt 0-for-three."
The three adults didnt quite here Y/n's mumbled response, though Ozpin was fairly sure he heard something along the lines of not being impaled. Curious.
The room however, remained eerily quiet as both students were studied silently. Y/n was the first to comment on the stares.
Y/n: "Christ, when was the mood buried?"
Clearing his throat loudly, James straightened his posture, hands clasped behind his back as he addressed the two students.
Ironwood: "Ruby, Y/n, I feel it is important I inform you that what you did last night is exactly what being a huntsman or huntress is all about. You recognized a threat, you took action, and you did the very best you could."
Ruby&Y/n: "Thank you, sir."
Ozpin: "Now, onto the topic at hand. General Ironwood has already informed us of the events that...transpired last night. Now that you are rested up, I was wondering if you might have something else to add."
Glynda: "Was anyone else with her? Did she look familiar to you at all?"
Ruby: "I... I don't know. She was wearing a mask, and she never said anything to us. But I know she fought with glass. I don't think that was her Semblance, though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked."
Y/n: "Embers..."
Everyone turned their attention to Y/n, who stood staring into space with his arms crossed, muttering to himself.
Ozpin: "Is there something on your mind, Y/n?"
Y/n snapped slightly out of his thought for a moment, realizing attention was on him. Seeing no reason not too, he voiced his thoughts.
Y/n: "Her eyes...I've seen them before. They were fiery, like burning embers. I've seen them more than once before...that much I'm sure of."
Seemingly returned to his thoughts, conversation resumed.
Glynda: "Save for the glass, that sounds like the woman I fought the night I met these two."
Ironwood: "Embedding dust into clothing is an age-old technique. It could've been anyone."
Ruby: "Wait. You think this girl is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?"
Ozpin: "It's possible. But we still lack the required evidence to link the two together."
Ruby: "Actually, I... I think I remember her saying something about a hideout, or something, in the southeast. Just outside the Kingdom."
That certainly gathered everyone's attention. Ozpin turned to Y/n.
Ozpin: "Interesting. What about you Y/n?"
Sensing Ruby's intention, Y/n did his best to play on the situation.
Y/n: "It's possible. I was so focused on the fight, it could've gone right over my head."
Glynda: "I thought you said the intruder never—"
Swiftly cutting her off, Ozpin halted the conversation. Quickly dismissing the two students.
Ozpin: "Thank you for your cooperation you two. Why dont you head back and spend some time with your team? You have a big day ahead of you."
Y/n: 'sly motherfucker ain't you Oz?'
Ruby: "Any time."
Y/n: "Happy to help."
Turning to leave, Ozpin left them with one final request.
Ozpin: "And both of you, please. Do try and be discreet about this, will you?"
Ruby: "Of course."
Y/n: "Not a problem."
Stepping back into the elevator, the two began their descent of Beacon tower. With many stops along the way.
"I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, I absolutely love it when you try and be sly like that. Its adorable."
Leaning up against her partner with a giggle, Ruby smugly smiled up at him.
Ruby: "I learned from the best"
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Several minutes later...back at the dorm...
Weiss Schnee regarded her two teammates with crossed arms, having just heard what happened in Ozpins office alongside Yang and Blake.
Weiss: "Dont you think that was a little risky what you did back there? That could've landed us in serious trouble."
Y/n spoke from his position leaned against the door.
Y/n: "Weiss, let's be totally real. Ozpin is a smart man. He knows what weve been up to. It's probably for the best she spilled the hideout area. It'll likely help us out in the future."
Blake: "I agree. I think you both handled that well."
Yang: "Yeah, well it's all behind us now. Ooh! Before I forget!"
Quickly moving over to one of the desks beside the door, Yang retrieved a small cylindrical package resting there. Holding it up as she spoke again.
"Dad sent us somethin. Figured we'd open it together y'know?"
Instantly related with the news, Ruby was practically clambering over Yang trying to get to the vessel as Y/n watched with simple amusement.
Ruby: "Something from home! Whatisitwhatisitwhatisit?!?"
Y/n: "Gotta admit I'm curious what Tai has for us."
Deciding to move along, Yang shrugged Ruby off of her.
Yang: "Well let's find out."
With the whole team now watching, Yand popped the end off of the cylinder, holding it carelessly upside-down. Slowly, a small black, almost furry looking cylinder slid out and onto the floor. The entire team eyed it with curiosity as it bobbed and twitched on the floor.
That is until the cylinder, what seemed like magically popped into the shape of a small black and white dog.
Y/n: "Oh he did fucking not..."
The small dog looked at team RWBY for a slight moment, before jumping happily with a bark. The teams reactions were...varied...
Yang and Ruby were nothing short of elated to see their familiar pet, of whom was named Zwei. Y/n didnt think much bad of it, but was mostly attempting to wrap his brain around the impossible mode of travel the dog had been made to use.
Weiss and Blake on the other hand, were somewhat reeling in shock, as Weiss immediately stepped back, and Blake in a lightning fast movement was up on Ruby's bunk, hiding beneath the beds small tent as she eyed the dog with a mixture of fear and contempt.
Ruby: "ZWEI!!!"
Blake: "He sent a dog?!"
Weiss: "In the mail?"
Yang merely shrugs off the confusion of her fellow teammates.
Yang: "Oh he does stuff like this all the time!"
Not at all reassured, Blake's eyes only narrow at the dog from her shelter.
Blake: "Your father or the dog?"
Y/n: "Honestly, knowing this family, it's probably both..."
Weiss continues to eye the dog as she speaks.
Weiss: "Are you telling me that this mangy... drooling... mutt is going to wiv wif us foweva? Oh, yes he is, yes he is! Oh, isn't he adorable!"
Blake: "Pleas ekeep it away from my belongings..."
Y/n: "Another day another victim huh zwei..."
The dog merely barks happily in response as the intercom suddenly clicks to life, the unmistakable voice of Glynda Goodwitch ringing through the school.
Glynda: "Would all first year students please report to the ampitheater. Again, all first year students please report to the ampitheater."
Simply deciding that there was too much chaos in the room, Y/n opted to wait outside the door. He didn't know why Ruby left with a large backpack, but he didn't think much of it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Beacon Halls
Team RWBY walked through the halls of the ever illustrious Beacon Academy. Even during a storm, the large school of future warriors never ceased to shine with a sense of beauty one can only really feel by witnessing such a sight.
In Y/n's personal opinion, it trumped any man-made world wonder on earth.
But back to the matter at hand, today was the day. Their official first step. Today was the day they set out on their first mission as huntresses (and huntsman) -in-training.
The team waltzed out through the doors into Beacons massive courtyard, met with the hustle and bustle of other teams wandering about the courtyard before their missions.
Ozpin certainly had quite a speech prepared at the ampitheater. And in many respects, it was quite moving. However the sheer length at which the speech had dragged on managed to lose Y/n's attention. It was simply too much.
He was however, finally pulled out of his thoughts when Ruby exploded in her ever present enthusiasm.
Ruby: "This is perfect! All we have to do is shadow a huntsman working in the southeast!"
Y/n: "Southeast is a pretty big spectrum..."
Unfortunately though, his skepticism was entirely ignored.
Yang: "Yeah! We'll follow them around during the day and give them the slip by night!"
Y/n: "Oh lord..."
Finally approaching the mission boards, Ruby stepped up to look at available missions. Weiss being the first to recommend something.
Weiss: "Let's check 'Search and Destroy'."
Quickly sorting through missions, it wasn't long before a mission was found.
Ruby: "Aha! Quadrant 5 needs Grimm cleared out!"
Blake: "Well, its in the southeast."
Y/n: "Again, broad spectrum."
His groveling was silenced by a swift smack to the back of the head from Yang.
Yang: "Sounds perfect!"
With the decision made, Ruby selected the mission and entered the team name...only for the word 'DECLINED' to flash on the screen in large letter. The abrupt rejection was quickly followed by 'Only year 2 and above students qualify for this mission.'
Weiss: "Wonderful!"
Blake: "What now?"
Ruby: "We mail ourselves there!"
Ozpin: "Well, that's certainly one option."
Turning their heads, the team was met with the familiar headmaster they had seen on stage minutes ago, a tablet in hand.
Y/n: "Always know when to make an entrance, don't you Oz?"
Slightly chuckling, he responded.
Ozpin: "Its a small thing I take pride in. As for the mission, we had determined that the concentration of Grimm in that area was too severe for first years students. That region seems to be rather popular, and I have the sneaking suspicion that you five will make your way there no matter what mission you choose."
Nervously laughing, Ruby was quick to try and play along.
Ruby: "Hehe...what do you mean by that?"
Ozpin: "I'll admit I'm still curious how you all found yourselves at the docks those many nights ago, I'm interested to know how you really found out about a hideout in the southeast, as well as why civilians reported seeing robots and rose petals from a dance club a while ago."
Ruby: "Uh-umm..."
Ozpin: "I doubt I'll ever find the answers I'm looking for, so instead of waiting for you all to break the rules, why don't we just bend them."
With a few quick taps and swipes on his tablet, the holographic board beside them flashed green with 'Mission Registered'.
Ruby: "Thank you professor! We won't let you down!"
Ozpin: "Do not thank me for this. Teamwork and persistence have carried you far. But you must understand, the things that await you beyond the protection of the Kingdom will not care. Stay close to your Huntsman at all times, and do exactly as he says. He will be leading you on this mission, and he can have you sent back to Beacon, if he finds your skills to be unsatisfactory. Good luck."
Silence hung like a plague as Ozpin stepped away from the group. It was clear to them that Ozpin did this with no small amount of hope for their safety. There was a reason first years weren't let to go at first.
Ruby was the first to speak, trying to raise group spirits.
Ruby: "Alright. We'll be fine. Yeah, it's gonna be tough, but we can do it!"
Her attempts at morale improvement however were interrupted as a sudden commotion erupted in the courtyard. Students were scrambling to one area, and the reason why was quickly blabbed by a passerby.
Rando: "Hey! Team CFVY is back from their mission!"
Sure enough the crowd soon parted as the team of second years trudged out from the crowd.
The prize for most noticeable of the four was caught between two specific members. One was a girl, dressed in a mostly brown outfit that absolutely screamed that she knew a thing or two about fashion, only further highlighted by her cap, sunglasses, and small bang falling from her short brown hair. She was certainly a head turner.
Said girl was none other than Team CFVY's team leader, Coco Adel.
Taking a close second for attention getting was the large, tan skinned monster of a man just behind her. Clad in a green robe and armor, with buzzed black hair and thin eyes, not to mention the massive bronze colored sword on his back. Yatsuhashi Daichi certainly had presence.
Next was team CFVY's own enigma, Fox Alistair. A dark skinned, quiet boy clad in red and sporting his fair share of scars. He was certainly the quiet type, and the menacing blades on his arms only served to stave of others. His milky white eyes leaving everyone except his teammates to wonder if he was blind. Y/n was mostly certain he had never even heard the boy speak.
Last, but most definitely not least was a small girl, clad in a brown put for, with matching brown hair, eyes and bunny ears. Team RWBY, as well as the rest of the students watched as Velvet Scarlatina, alongsode the rest of her team trudged through the yard.
Exhaustion was the only discernable emotion to be taken from any of them at the moment. With Coco and Fox's normally upright and confident posture reduced to a lousy slouch. The normally enormous Yatsuhashi, seemed almost small as he walked along, seeming mere moments away from passing out.
Blake: "Velvet!"
The equally exhausted bunny Faunas turned her attention to Blake as she passed by the rest of tsam RWBY, a seemingly distant look clouding her normaly shy eyes.
"Are you okay?"
Velvet: "Oh, I'm fine. I had Yatsuhashi to look out for me."
Weiss: "Your mission was supposed to end a week ago! What happened?!"
Velvet: "Nothing happened. It's just...there were just so many...oh, but don't worry, you first years are just shadowing huntsmen, so you should be fine."
Velvet seemed set to walk away again, before she noticed Y/n at the back of the group. Her ears perked up slightly in recognition as she spoke again, a little bit of life returning to her voice while the rest of her team caught up behind her, she stuck out her hand.
Velvet: "Oh, it's you! Hey, I never got your name."
Not wanting to leave the kind girl waiting, Y/n firmly shook Velvets hand as he replied.
Y/n: "Its Y/n. Y/n L/n. Pleasure to really meet you Ms. Scarlatina, sorry, I'm not the most sociable person out there."
Velvet laughed slightly with her trademark kind smile.
Velvet: "Nothing wrong with that, I'm the same way. I just wanted to say hello. I never quite got to thank you for standing up to Cardin all that time ago. You really saved my bacon."
The rest of team CFVY's attention was swiftly grabbed by this statement, as one could expect. If there was anything that the entire school knew about team CFVY, it was that they were more of a family than a team.
Yatsuhashi was the first to react, returning to his regular tall stature as he smiled wide.
Yatsuhashi: "Ah, that was you? Thank you for that. After your stunt, Cardin didn't dare make another move on Velvet."
Y/n: "Really, it was nothing...I just don't really have patience for people like that."
Stepping forward slightly, Coco leaned in to look over her glasses directly at Y/n. Seeming to study the boy, she soon smiled herself.
Coco: "Nice coat."
With nothing more than a nod from Fox, the majority of team CFVY began to walk away as Velvet said one last thing.
Velvet: "I should get going. Stay safe out there, alright?"
Receiving several nods, Velvef left with her team, noticeably in higher spirits, but fatigue was still evident among them all. Ruby broke the silence once more.
Ruby: "We can do this. We've never backed down before, and we're not going to start now."
Blake: "Right."
Ruby: "Besides, it won't only be us out there! We'll be fighting alongside a genuine Huntsman!"
Yang: "Yeah!"
Y/n: "Is anybody else curious who we'll be shadowing?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Literally five minutes later.
All of team RWBY, save for Y/n stated with various stunned expressions as they came to stand before who was just revealed to be their designated huntsman for their mission.
Before them stood a tall lean, lean and jittery man with spiky green hair, and round glasses that seemed to perfectly conceal his eyes from the front, but side glances revealed them to be brown. Dressed in a literal archeologist outfit was none other than Beacons resident history expert, Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck, gesturing in an excited manner.
Oobleck: "Hello boy and girls! Who's ready to fight for their lives?!"
Weiss seemed to be the first to speak, only being able to voice the name of their curious caretaker.
Weiss: Professor Oobleck?
He was quick to respond, pacing millitantly in front of the team as he spoke in his usual, ridiculously distant manner.
Oobleck: "Yes, I'm afraid those bags won't be necessary, children, seeing as you've opted to shadow a Huntsman on what is now essentially a reconnaissance mission. I can assure you, we will not be establishing a single base of operations; rather, we will be traversing several miles of hazardous wasteland and making camp in any defendable locations we may stumble upon. I packed all of our essentials myself, plotted our air course, and readied the airship. And..."
Oobleck paused, but not for breath as one might guess. Instead in a flash he appeared face to face leaning down to meet her eyes with a frown.
"It's Doctor Oobleck. I didn't earn the PhD for fun, thank you very much!"
Having said his piece, he quickly backs away. Weiss shares a glance with Blake, who stands beside her looking equally disturbed.
Weiss: "Uh..."
Oobleck: "Come now, children; according to my schedule, we are already three minutes behind!...schedule!"
In a burst of speed to rival Ruby's semblance, he easily dashed away to the Bullhead some 25 yards away, sitting on a landing pad waiting to take off.
The familiar plague of silence settled once more, at lease until Ruby, bless her heart, did her best to be positive about the situation.
Ruby: "Well alright then! Looks like we're going to save the world with...Doctor Oobleck-okay yeah it sounds worse when you say it out loud..."
Y/n however merely shrugged, throwing in his surprisingly positive two cents.
Y/n: "Oh come on it ain't that bad. I'm actually kinda fond of the guy."
Before any of his team could question him, they were quickly distracted by Nora making one of her loud entrances alongside her team. Instead of sticking around however, he used his little shadow step to zoom over to the bullhead where Oobleck stood waiting.
The range of course was barely long enough that the ever strange line that connects him to Ruby appeared, and his skin began to do its normal light show that always happens at this range. Flickering between his normal shadowy color and his original white skin color.
He was serious however. He was actually quite fond of the Huntsman before him, as he shared a similar love for history. And so he made casual conversation with the man as they waited for the rest of his team.

(Hello everyone. I'd like to start with an apology for this chapter taking a little over 20 days. I simply found this one much harder to make for some reason. Hopefully I'll have more inspiration for the next. This one caps at 5225 words, and I hope you enjoyed. Here's a groovy one for ya.)
(Until Next Time.)
