3rd Person Pov

Right now, Y/n considered himself to be a pretty lucky guy. His life was exciting, he had a future, he had friends, and even though he hadn't told her yet, he found the one he really loved. If you were to take a peek inside his head, you'd most likely hear Mr. Blue Sky. As of the moment, Ruby also considered herself much in the same boat, save for the music she had never heard before. And you know what theres nothing that quite matches the refreshing feeling that comes with a good nights rest, shared with those you consider your better half.

After the duo had their moment and rested, the next morning was understandably awkward. A sensible person would expect the two to discuss what happened, and where to go from there, but of course sensible people also know this.

Teenagers.

Are not sensible individuals.

And so they simply went about their business as if nothing had even happened. Of course, something had DEFINITELY happened, and they both knew it. There was a feeling in the air, not so much a tension, more like an indicator. Sensible people would also expect, that when it is so obvious that feelings are mutual, one would share them. But not only are teenagers not sensible, they are also oblivious to almost exclusively the feelings the other has. And as a result, most spend their time bottling up their desire to confess, nerves not allowing the words to leave their mouth out of fear of rejection. Such is the nature of teens.

And so the awkward days passed, while the two spoke nothing of what happened. And life went on, as it would for any other.

Y/n found that with time, he started to enjoy the classes a lot more, although he did have a couple favorites. One such favorite would be combat class with Mrs. Goodwitch. He loved the opportunity to challenge and test the limits of his still relatively new form, after all, he wasnt in a lot of fights prior to Beacon. Most of the students seemed to be intimidated or frightened by Mrs. Goodwitch, but not Y/n. To him, she just seemed like someone who took her job seriously.

While Y/n did enjoy combat class, he couldnt say he was enjoying the match currently taking place. He currently sat next to Ruby in the bleachers around the arena. The lights were mostly dimmed save for one above the ring where the fight was happening. Jaune was locked I'm a fierce, but ultimately embarassing battle against Cardin. Despite Jaunes best efforts, he never managed to land a hit on Cardin, who continued to overpower him with his mace.

Jaune yelled as he charged at Cardin, slashing at him, but the mace wielder sidestepped the attack, and with a powerful swing sent Jaune flying and knocking his shield out of his hand. Now armed only with his sword, Jaune picked himself back up, and charged again at a confident Cardin. Jaune swung downwards and met Cardins mace in a fierce clash. Cardin towered over Jaune while the Arc tried to hold his ground.

Cardin: "This is where you lose." Cardin stated with confidence.

Jaune: "Over my dead bo-" Jaunes defiant remark was cut off as Cardin kneed him in the gut, knocking the wind out of Jaune and causing him to fall to his knees. Cardin raised his mace up to finish Jaune, but a loud buzzer sounded and Mrs. Goodwitch spoke up.

Glynda: "Cardin! That's enough." Cardin scoffed and walked away disappointed he couldnt lay into Jaune.

"Students, as you can see, Mr. Arc's Aura has now dropped into the red. In a tournament-styled duel, this would indicate that Jaune is no longer fit for battle, and that the official may call the match."

Y/n watched his blonde friend with a worried look as Goodwitch continued. He had watched the other students pretty carefully in combat class over the past weeks and noticed that Jaune was much farther behind everyone else, even himself. Y/n had never had fight training before, he just found he had a natural affinity for it, and he used to got shooting a lot and was quite the marksman before he died. But shouldn't Jaune be an even better fighter than him? Didnt he go to a combat school?

He was shaken out of his thoughts when the bell rang, signaling lunch to begin. He noticed his excited teammates next to him, especially Ruby who was practically shaking with excitement and squealing slightly as Goodwitch said one last thing.

Goodwitch: "Remember, everyone, the Vytal Festival is only a few months away! It won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale!" And then students began to file out of the room. Y/n turned to Ruby with a puzzled look.

Y/n: "What's the Vytal festival? Whatever it is its sure got you excited."

Ruby dawned a look of realization as she remembered she hadn't actually told him about the festival and then excitedly turned to him as they were walking to the cafeteria.

Ruby: "You bet! The Vytal festival is huge! It's a festival held every two years to celebrate the end of the great war, its held in a different kingdom every time! It's in Vale this year and theres gonna be a huge tournament and theres gonna be a fairgroundsanditsgonnabesocoo-" Ruby was suddenly silenced by an amused Y/n placing a finger over her mouth. The young girl pouted at him getting a chuckle from the boy.

Y/n: "Well now I know why your so excited. It sounds like it'll be a lot of fun!"
He removed his silencing hand and Ruby giggled in excitement as they made their way into the cafeteria, grabbing their food, and taking a seat at their usual table with the rest of their team and team JNPR.

Lunch was so far going as normal as ever, with Weiss not giving a shit, Blake buried in a book, and Yang listening intensely as Nora told one of her ridiculous and exaggerated stories, being corrected all along the way by Ren. Pyrrha, Ruby, and Y/n however were distracted, looking with concern at Jaune who was down in the dumps, picking at his food somberly. Pyrrha calls out to him.

Pyrrha: "Jaune? Are you okay?" She asked, worry evident in her voice. Jaune snapped back to reality turning to face the others.

Jaune: "Huh? Oh, Yeah! Why?" He asked trying to play off the situation.

Ruby: "Its just, you seem a little...not okay..."

Jaune: "Guys, I'm fine. Seriously! Look!" He says as he puts on a pathetically fake smile and holds a thumbs up. Y/n hands Ruby a small piece of paper with a number 4 drawn on it.

Y/n: "Jaune, we both know that's bullshit."

Jaune looks about to retort before their attention is drawn to the sound of laughter. Turning to look, they see team CRDL at a nearby table, mocking a rabbit faunas girl not letting her pass. Y/n takes a mental note that their table is close enough for him to reach, while Pyrrha sees the opportunity to leap at the issue and takes it.

Pyrrha: "Jaune, Cardins been picking on you since the first week of school!" Jaune once again attempts to play off the situation.

Jaune: "Who? Cardin Winchester? Nah... He just likes to mess around! You know, practical jokes!"

Ruby: "He's a bully" Ruby rebuttals with obvious disdain.

Y/n: "My thoughts exactly..." the shadowy teen growled, not taking his eyes off team CRDL. Jaune scoffs

Jaune: "Oh please! Name ONE time hes bullied me." Y/n turns around for a moment, giving Jaune a look that can only be described as an 'are you shittin me' look.

Y/n: "You wanna bet? I kept a mental list. I can name 34 different times. But I think the most obvious one was when he stuffed you into a rocket propelled locker, and then proceeded to launch you off the school grounds." As he finished his mini rant and spun aroun in his seat to glare back at team CRDL. Ruby took notice of the shadows seeming to grow longer in CRDLs direction.

Jaune: "I didnt land that far from the school..." the young arc sheepishly put forth, attempting to laugh the situation off.

Pyrrha: "Jaune, you know if you ever need help, you can just ask."

Nora: "Ooooh!" Nora springs up from her seat with a not-so-sane grin. "We'll break his legs!"

Y/n: "I've got a few ideas in mind..." he said darkly.

Jaune: "Guys, really, it's fine! Besides, it's not like he's only a jerk to me; he's a jerk to everyone."

Y/n: "That justifies nothing. A society built on hatred and selfishness will starve. Something being common doesnt make it right." He said turning halfway to look at Jaune. He didnt look before long though before a loud cry caught his attention, making him whirl around to face CRDL while he tightly gripped the edge of the table.

???: "Ow! That hurts!" The rabbit faunas cried as the Capital Cunt Cardin tugged on her ears. She eventually gave up struggling with a grimace and weakly pleaded. "Please stop..."

Ruby heard something like wood cracking, and turned to Y/n to see that the section of table he was gripping was beginning to splinter from his hold, and his eyes were glowing slightly with a silver fury. She cautiously addressed him.

Ruby: "Y/n..." The boy turned to her, surprising her with a look that almost looked regretful. Like watching what was happening was painful for him. She knew she couldnt stop what was coming, so she sighed and compromised. "Try not to kill him..."

Their attention was taken again as the rabbit girl let out a louder cry as Cardin tugged on the ear again. A loud CRACK sounded throughout the cafeteria as the piece of table finally snapped off entirely.

Y/n: "Got it..." he said with venom as he stood up and walked towards Cardin and his team. The sound of the table snapping had caught their attention, and Cardin stood up and put on a shit-eating grin as he watched Y/n approach, finally letting go of the girls ear giving her a chance to escape.

"Hey there, Cardin..." he began with complete ice I'm his voice. Cardin, and now the rest of the cafeteria watched in slight fear as the entire room seemed to get darker, like an enormous shadow loomed over the place. Cardin hid his fear and acted confident.

Cardin: "What, freak? Got somethin to say?" Y/n acted like he didnt even hear him and continued.

Y/n: "Heres a fun little science experiment for ya. Where I come from, people dont have aura, or dust. Nope, weve just got our frail, fleshy bodies. We also have a little something called gunpowder." He said as shadows seemed to swirl in his right hand. Cardin was sweating now, and definetely intimidated but tried to play it off.

Cardin: "Yeah? So what?" Once he finished talking, the object Y/n was summoning was fully visible now. It was a massive pistol that made Cardin even more nervous. It was definitely intimidating.

Y/n: "Now gunpowder bullets killed a looooot of people who didnt have aura...tore them to pieces...I saw it myself..." Y/n said as he fiddled with the weapon in his hands, stopping his walk a few feet in front of Cardin. "So! The question of the hour...what will it do to someone with an aura I wonder...I have no idea to be honest...wanna help me find out?" He threatened as he aimed the hand cannon right in between Cardins eyes. Cardin was about to put forth another remark, when without warning, Y/n lowered the weapon to aim at Cardins lower right leg.

BANG

The sound of the shot screamed throughout the room, almost deafening students at nearby tables. Cardin screamed out in pain as he fell to the floor, clutching his now incredibly fucked leg. The round had ripped right through him as if he didnt even have an aura. Y/n squatted down and with his free hand grabbed Cardin by his brown spiky hair, jerking his head closer so he could speak quietly.

Y/n: "Now listen here you person shaped pile of grimm shit. I have no idea what possessed Oz to let you into this school. Your a disgrace to everything a huntsman is supposed to be, and it's people like YOU who cause most of the fucking problems." Y/n spoke with enough venom to poison the entire room. Cardin was practically shaking as the shadow spoke, still clutching his leg in pain. His aura was helping the wound to close, but he was still in immense pain.

"I cant fucking stand people like you, but Ozpin seems like a smart guy, so I'm gonna hope that for your sake, he knows what he's doing. As for you...if I see you so much as fucking BREATHE at someone inappropriate way that I dont like, then you and I are gonna meet up for some more 'testing'. Do I make myself clear as the fucking sky Mr. Winchester?" Cardin couldnt even speak, instead resorting to nodding his head furiously. "Good."

He let go of Cardins hair and stood up, turning to the rest of the cowering team CRDL.

"Get your dirtbag leader out of here before I shatter his knees in a way even aura couldnt heal." With that remark they scrambled, helping Cardin to his feet and supporting him out of the cafeteria. Cardins wound had now mostly closed and was no longer bleeding, but he would be feeling it for a while.

Y/n took a deep breath and dismissed his weapon as light returned to the cafeteria. He looked back at Ruby with an expression that seemed to apologize. He knew what he had done, and he didnt regret it for a second, but that inexplicable doubt had clouded his mind again. He looked around the cafeteria seeing the shocked faces of all the students.

'Great...now I'm just a monster again...'

Y/n: "Sorry about that..." he said with sadness. He began to slowly shift into intangibility before he heard something he didnt expect.

A single student had stood up from his seat, and began clapping.

Slowly but surely, much to the young mans surprise, more and more students began to rise from their seats and applaud, some even cheering at his actions.

Ruby's Pov

I am not a violent person. I think I make that pretty obvious too. Sure I have my...moments...but I'm not the type of person to pick a fight for no reason. This of course means that I wouldn't have done what Y/n did...but that's what I get for saying 'dont kill him'. I wasnt about to get mad at Y/n though. Cardin is a total jerk, and i wont pretend he didnt deserve that. Besides his aura and a moderate to below average doctor will clean that wound up like it never existed.

I was much less worried about Cardins safety than i was Y/ns emotional well being. When he stood up I could tell he realized what he did, he even looked back at me as if to apologize, eventually doing just that to the entire cafeteria, which was eyeing him with shock and awe. I could see him look down, ready to disappear for everyone else and walk back to the table, when someone started clapping. It took our whole group, and very obviously Y/n by surprise when the entire cafeteria soon stood up praising him.

His transparency faded back into opacity as he looked around the cafeteria surprised. He turned back to me still with that dumbfounded look on his face. He REALLY wasnt expecting a positive reaction to blowing a hole in Cardins leg, and while I was a little upset he went that far, I'm mostly just happy hes okay. I giggled a bit at how dumbstruck he was before patting his seat beckoning him back to the table. He shook his head and came back to the table, taking his seat next to me as the cafeteria started to die down and go back to what they were doing.

3rd Person Pov

Y/n: "Sorry about that. I couldnt really handle any more of his crap." He said to our group. Yang was the first to speak up.

Yang: "Dont even apologize dude. I was getting close to doing the same."

Nora: "Eh...its no broken legs but good enough."

Ren: "Nora!"

Jaune: "Just remind me never to get on you bad side."

Y/n: "Noted...sorry for causin' a scene rosebud." Ruby sighs with a slight smile before she holds out two small scraps of paper with the numbers 3 and 4 on them.

Ruby: "At least you didnt kill him. Let's try and keep the maiming to combat class though okay? Also I wanna see more of those guns later!" Y/n laughs as he takes the two pieces of paper and puts them in his shirt pocket.

Y/n: "Got it."

The bell signaling the end of lunch rings throughout the room, causing the group to rise from their seats. The rest of the day was much quieter for the duo as the team at some places had to split up to go to different classes. Very luckily for Cardin, Y/n and Ruby didnt have any other classes with him, although the next few week Cardin kept especially quiet in combat class as to not provoke the boy.

Timeskip a week

Y/n and Ruby were walking through Beacon courtyard as the evening was rolling in, making their way back to their dorm rooms. It was silent until Y/n suddenly piped up.

Y/n: "Hey, rosebud?" Ruby snapped out of her idle thoughts and turned to face the boy.

Ruby: "Yeah?"

Y/n: "Am I the only one who's noticed that Jaune has suddenly started getting all buddy buddy with Cardin?"

Now that she thought about it since that day in the cafeteria Jaune had been spending a lot of time around Cardin and his team. Apparently he was even getting back to his dorm late and wasnt talking to his team much. He didnt seem all to happy about the situation himself.

Ruby: "Well now that I think about it I see it. He doesnt seem to happy either does he?"

Y/n: "No. No he doesnt. I'm worried Cardins got a hand around his neck somehow." He wore a worried expression.

Ruby: "It definetely doesnt seem right. Maybe we should try and catch him outside his dorm tonight? Maybe we can help him out." Y/n mulled over the idea in his head.

Y/n: "Yeah...that could work. If Cardins done something I might have to do some more testing."

Ruby: "Yeeeaaah...maybe we should avoid that. Weve got a field trip tommorow remember? We cant go causing trouble right now."

Y/n: "I can only promise to try."

They share a short laugh before silence settled on them for the rest of their walk back to the dorm.

Y/n Pov

Night was falling on Beacon academy as I stood leaning against the wall of the dorm next to the door. Everybody except myself and Ruby had already gone to bed for the big trip tommorow, while we were still up to see if we could catch Jaune outside his dorm. I heard shuffling outside in the hallway and motioned with my head for Ruby to follow as we stepped outside the dorm to see Jaune dressed in his combat gear and peering into his dorm through the cracked door. He let out a sad and dejected sigh before he closed the door. We decided to make our presence known.

Ruby: "Hey Jaune!" The very startled swordsman jumped in place and whirled around to see us. Ruby giggled a bit at his reaction. "Long time no see! Did you lock yourself out again?"

As ridiculous as that sounds that has happened...multiple times...he just forgets his scroll and gets locked out.

Jaune: "Oh! Uh..nope! Got it right here!" He says as he brandishes his scroll attempting to laugh off his situation. Ruby decides to get the ball rolling.

Ruby: "So! Where have you been lately?"

Jaune: "I, uh..." I could see he was about to try and come up with an excuse so before he could I spoke with concern.

Y/n: "Jaune..." he looked at me for a moment  and after seeing my concern, sighed as he fessed up.

Jaune: "I messed up. I did something I shouldn't have, and now Cardin has me on a leash, and Pyrrha won't even talk to me, and..." He let's out a deep breath.

"I'm starting to think coming to this school was a bad idea." He presses his back against his teams door and slides down with a depressed look.

"I'm a failure."

...yeah no. This ends now. Me and Rubt share a look and turn to him.

Ruby&Y/n: "Nope!" Jaune looks up in surprise.

Jaune: "Nope?"

Ruby: "Nope! Your a leader now Jaune. Your not allowed to be a failure."

Jaune: "But...what if I'm a failure at being a leader?" Ruby gives minimal thought before she fires back.

Ruby: "Nope!" Jaune laughs a little bit.

Jaune: "You know, your not the easiest person to talk to about this."

Y/n: "She has her moments" I add getting a hit on the arm before we join him on the floor.

Ruby: "Jaune, maybe you were a failure when you were a kid." Jaune sinks into the floor with a groan.

"And maybe you were a failure the first day we met!" He groans again and sinks even lower. Where is she going with this?

"Buf you cant be a failure now. You know why?"

Jaune: "Uuuuh, because.....?"

Ruby: "Because it's not just about you now Jaune. You've got a team now Jaune. We both do! And if we fail, well just be dragging them down with us." We both stand up and she placedms her hands on her hips as she continues.

"We have to put our teammates first, and ourselves second. Your team deserves a great leader Jaune, and I think that can be you." She turns towards our dorm ready to head in.

"Have a good night Jaune." She proceeds inside the dorm. I'm about to follow her when I look back to see Jaune still doubtful. I hang back a second to speak.

Y/n: "Jaune." He looks up at me. I let out a sigh.

"I know more than anybody else here what it's like to feel like a failure. I'll admit I've been through hell and back, and I know this isnt easy. It can feel like the whole world is out to get you. And it makes you just wanna curl up and hide." He doesnt seem to get where I'm going so I move on to the point.

"Your not a failure Jaune. Far from it. You really do have what it takes to be a great leader, and an even greater huntsman no doubt. So! On your feet Mr. Arc! Duty calls!" I offer him a hand up and he takes it with renewed enthusiasm. Once hes on his feet I turn towards the door and start to head in. I give him  a raised fist salute over my shoulder.

"There ain't no rest for the wicked. Goodnight Jaune." I proceed inside and shut the door behind me. Ruby stands there with her hands on her hips giving me a look.

Ruby: "You doin' alright?" She looked laid back but she was concerned. I gave her a smile, a real one and responded.

Y/n: "I'm fine. Just figured he could use someone who's seen it from his perspective. But look at you little miss leader! What happened to the Ruby who was losing sleep over the thought of leading a team?" She gave a shrug still with a hand on her hip and a smirk.

Ruby: "Guess I just took your advice to heart. Your not a bad leader yourself." I just chuckled a bit at how casual she was suddenly, then yawned.

Y/n: "Maybe, maybe not. Anyways I'm tired." Feeling too lazy to float I just plopped myself onto the floor.

Ruby: "Really? The floor?" I just shrugged.

Y/n: "I'm too lazy to float right now." Ruby crossed her arms with a raised eyebrow watching me for a moment.

Ruby: "Yeah, no. Come on, get up." She demanded as she hopped up onto her bed and scooched over, patting the space beside her. I was a little shocked at her forwardness.

Y/n: "R-really? Wheres this coming from?" She blushed a bit and refused eye contact as she reaponded.

Ruby: "I-I just dont want you sleeping on the floor. Besides we've slept in the same bed b-before." I just sat there for a moment giving her a look.

"Listen either you get up here or I can try my luck at throwing you." I chuckled a bit before I stood up and climbed up beside her, laying down.

Y/n: "Alright alright, keep your socks on. Happy now?" She thought for a second before she blushed harder but smiled.

Ruby: "Nope!" She laid down right next to me and wrapped her arms around me, closing her eyes. I was blushing but tried not to show it too much.

"Now I am." She said. I couldnt help but smile. I wrapped my arms around her as well, and planted a small kiss on the top of her head. Before laying my head back and closing my eyes.

Y/n: "Goodnight, rosebud. Sweet dreams." She tightened her hold.

Ruby: "Goodnight Y/n."

And then sleep carried us away.

Y/n Pov

A great nights sleep aside, the next day was pretty awesome! At first it was the normal routine, wake up, and wait outside the door for the girls to get ready so that I dont get murdered again. Once they were ready for the day we made our way to Beacons landing pads to meet with Mrs. Goodwitch who was a sort of chaperone on the trip. I had only heard about the Forest of Forever Fall so I was excited to see it. I mean Weiss had that painting in the room, but I've found that art can have a hard time doing nature justice. Ruby also seemed just as excited as I was, Weiss didnt care,Yang was going with the flow, and Blake had her frontal lobe and then some buried in a book. In other words, normal morning so far. Unfortunately though the bullheads didnt have door windows so I didnt get any sneak peeks of the forest, I just had to wait out the hour and a half flight.

The flight was mostly silent since it was still the morning and people were waling up. Ruby kept giving me glances like she was wondering if she should tell me something. I didnt bug her about it, I admittedly had the same thing on my mind. If the forest is as beautiful as people say, maybe today will be my chance...I want to tell her. What does she think?

'I guess only time will tell.'

I absentmindedly patted my thighs to a beat in my head as we flew to the forest. It wasn't long before we actually arrived.

When we stepped off the bullhead, I was met with one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen. The entire forest was a deep autumn red, from the leaves to the bushes to the grass. Even the bark on the trees was slightly red. It was beautiful!

I never thought I would see anything like this. Just looking around me as we walked along took my breath away, so much so that I completely failed to hear what Mrs. Goodwitch was saying. Before the group completely split up though I did notice Jaune carrying around a crate with 6 empty jars. Cardin yelled out at him causing the young man to flinch. He met my eyes as I sent him a worried look before he reluctantly turned around and followed team CRDL.

'Come on Jaune...get up off the ground...'

My attention was pulled away though when Ruby started to excitedly pull me through the forest. I was worried about Jaune...but he needs to do this on his own. He cant keep lying on his stomach taking all this shit. He needs to get up and fight. Ruby continued to tug me along.

Ruby: "Come on!!! Let's get this sap already so we can go look around!!!"

'I suppose I can put my worries aside for now. Jaune is stronger than he thinks he is. He'll figure it out.'

Y/n: "Hehe, alright rosebud slow down. The forest isnt going anywhere."

She just gave me a wide, excited smile as we went to find a good tree to sap. I made sure we didnt stray too far from our team and team NPR. We eventually found a plump lookin tree and set to work filling the jar...

...

Y/n: "Oh my god this is taking forever..."

And I wasnt entirely wrong. The jar was filling so slowly that I think snails might evolve legs before we're done here.

Ruby: "Well now we know why she gave us till four to do this..."

She had a point there. Oh well, jar now, exploring later. The next 10 minutes passed with us just sitting around the tree we were sapping. It was really quiet. Almost quiet enough to fall asleep, it was peaceful.... And then a stupid loud roar of a stupid big animal sounded throughout the forest. It sounded like a bear to me, so it might be an Ursa. A big one at that. I'll need a weapon...

Y/n: "Do I hear the beautiful sound of property damage?"

While we were getting ready for a fight, Cardins teammates, who for the sake of accuracy I will refer to as fuckbucket 1,2 and 3, came running by.

Fuckbucket 1: "URSA! URSA!"

Yang grabs him by the collar as he runs by and holds him up.

Yang: "Where?!"

The stain upon humanity points in the direction he came from.

Fuckbucket 1: "Back there! It's got Cardin!"

Yang dropped him as Pyrrha gasped.

Pyrrha: "Jaune!"

Ruby: "Yang! Blake! Go get Proffesor Goodwitch!"

Pyrrha: "You two go with them! There could be more!"

Yang, Blake, Ren and Nora ran to find the proffesor while Ruby, Pyrrha, Weiss and obviously myself ran towards where the Ursa is supposed to be. I noticed Pyrrhas worried expression.

Y/n: "Pyrrha...he'll be fine, I promise. Hes stronger than he thinks."

She was still worried but nodded as we continued our run. We arrived at the edge of a clearing and ducked by some Bush cover to see quite the scene. Jaune was locked in a fierce battle against an admittedly larger than normal Ursa Major. Ruby and Weiss readied to jump in and help him, and as much as I would've loved to blow that thing to Kentucky, Pyrrha and I stopped them.

Ruby: "What?"

Y/n: "Jaune needs to do this on his own. He needs to know that he can do this. Also, gamer law, never interrupt a 1v1. I'm not some trash Talon main."

Ruby: "Huh?"

Y/n: "5 cookies says he decapitates it."

Ruby: "Your on!"

The battle in the clearing continued with both sides trading blows, but Jaune kept getting knocked back. That didnt stop him though. He got right back up and fought. Fuckin madlad. The battle was coming to a close, and one last clash was meant to decide who lives or dies. It looked like Jaune was about to get walloped, but his shield suddenly glowed and lifted itself to redirect the Ursas strike, allowing Jaune to plant his feet, and with a hefty upward swing, rend the creatures cumbersome head from its shoulders. The beasts headless body fell to the ground with a loud thud, as Jaune stood there catching his breath.

'Well I sure hope someone picks up that phone...'

I turned to Ruby.

Y/n: "Called it."

Ruby: "No fair! Pyrrha used her semblance! What even is it?"

Pyrrha: "Well, you have your speed, Weiss has her glyphs. My semblance is polarity."

Ruby: "Oh you can control poles..." I nearly burst out laughing.

Y/n: "No rosebud. It means she controls magnets."

Ruby: "Magnets are cool too..."

Y/n: "Welp! I think it's time we headed back now. Come on girls! Jaune doesnt need us."

I began to walk away, with Pyrrha and a confused Ruby following. Weiss spoke up first.

Weiss: "What? Aren't we going to tell them what happened?" I turned to face her while still walking.

Y/n: "And steal his thunder? Hell no! Let's just keep this as our little secret. I'm sad I dint get to use my shotgun though. hmmm..."

Ruby: "Uh-oh"

I turned to face a poor, unsuspecting tree and proceeded to empty the entire gun into the trunk. Once I was done, the poor tree creaked and groaned before I walked up and pushed lightly, causing the tree to fall over in that direction. Weiss deadpanned at me as I dismissed my weapon of tree destruction.

Weiss: "Was that really necessary?"

Y/n: "Of course it is! It's fun! Nothing wrong with some unprecedented destruction every now and then. Keeps the blood flowin."

Weiss just rolled her eyes at my response while Pyrrha shook her head with a smile, and Ruby giggled a bit. We collected our jar, which thankfully had filled while we were gone, and met up with the rest of the class. Jaune and a regretful looking Cardin came out of the treeline shortly after.

Glynda: "There you are. What happened?"

Jaune: "Just an Ursa problem miss. I handled it."

Goodwitch seemed suspicious of this and turned to Cardin.

Glynda: "Mr. Winchester. Is this true?"

Cardin: "Yes ma'am. He saved my life."

Glynda: "Very well...excellent work Mr. Arc, perhaps there is hope for you yet. I believe it is time we left. Come children, we shall head back to Beacon now."

With her instructions spoke everyone boarded the two bullheads back to Beacon. Luckily for us, our bullheads occupants consisted of myself, the rest of team RWBY, and team JNPR. Mrs. Goodwitch was in the second bullhead which I assume housed team CRDL. I clapped my hands together and spoke up.

Y/n: "Well! I for one, believe that the victory had by team JNPR's fearless leader, deserves some celebration!"

Everyone gave me confused looks, except for Ruby, who beamed as she managed to get where I was going.

Ruby: "Ooooo! Yay! You havent sang for JNPR yet! You guys are in for a show!"

Y/n: "Well nice to see your excited. Wanna join me for this?"

Ruby: "I'll sit this one out. Next time though!"

I chuckled at how much more confident she is and looked to Jaune as I played with some shadows in my hand.

Y/n: "Alright alright. Jaune! Since your the man of the hour, you get to choose our genre! Anything you want pal. Calm, hyper, loud, quiet, heavy, soft. Your choice!"

Everyone in the bullhead turned to face Jaune, who looked nervous as he racked his brain.

Jaune: "Uuh..uhm...how about...some rap? Something...pompous. Confident and toe tapping, but not over the top."

I put my hand on my chin thinking of the right song. I had the perfect idea.

Y/n: "Hmmmm...oh! I know the perfect song! Sorry rosebud but the filter is coming off for this one. Occasion calls for it!"

She shrugged with a smile.

Ruby: "Fair enough. You've been good about it lately."

I summoned a familiar beat board, the same one I used when Ruby and I first sang, along with a subwoofer and amplifier for extra bass and sound, and cracked my knuckles getting ready to play.

3rd Person Pov

Y/n: "Everybody ready?"

His question was met with a mix of 'yeps', nods and cheers, the loudest coming from the rose on his left. I wide grin came across his face. He gave a salute as he spoke his next words, as if to honor someone.

Y/n: "Straight from the grave of the great E-dubble, the man, the myth, the king, may his soul rest in peace, over to you Jaune. Glad you finally got off the sidelines."

He summoned everyone a paper that had the lyrics to make sure they could follow along, and then he flipped on his pad, and began.

Everyone found themselves tapping along to the song. Yang, Jaune, Nora and Ruby were all loving it, tapping or stamping to the beat. Pyrrha sat politely nodding to the song and humming along slightly. The quiet ones, Blake and Ren also found themselves lightly nodding along with smiles. Even the Ice Quees herself, Weiss, was caught with a smile, toe tapping along slightly. Most of them were amazed at his ability to change his voice and make it sound filtered, as well as how much was played through the small pad.

When the song came to an end, Y/n took a moment to reminisce with his eyes closed, before he opened then and stood up to approach Jaune. He summoned in his hands a small pendant on a chain, and placed it over the Arcs head, the pendant resting against his chest piece.

Y/n: "Good job today Jaune. Your spot in the sun waits for you."

And with that he went back to his seat while Jaune inspected his new accessory.

The golden line seemed to almost shine with light. A shield holding back the darkness. An impenetrable fortress.

Jaune: "Thanks Y/n...it means more than you know."

Y/n: "You earned it Jaune. Thank yourself. Now if you'll excuse me, I am stupid tired. If you need me, bug rosebud."

He disappeared from everyone's view, except for a certain rose, who was a little peeved at having responsibility dumped on her.

Ruby: "Hey! You transparent jerk! Get back out here!"

She hit the invisible boys shoulder amusing the reato of the passengers. Eventually though, most of them ended up falling asleep in their seats as well, save for Ruby who sat in silence in her chair.

Ruby Pov

'That was nice of him to do for Jaune. At least we get to see more of him now.'

I looked to my right to see the sleeping Y/n who sat arms at his sides and head down slightly. Hes always so peaceful when he sleeps now. He hardly ever has nightmares. I'm happy to see all his progress. Really goes to show how amazing he is. I remembered last night when I forced him off of the floor and next to me, and admittedly blushed.

'There it is again...that feeling...'

I just took a second to admire him. He was in different clothes than his normal hoodie. Now he was in some form fitting jeans, with running shoes and a form fitting T-shirt. He wasnt super built, but had a good bit of muscle on him. He was a little stout, but not in a chubby way, that was just his body. Ot was more muscle and bone structure than fat. Supposedly he came from a family of big people so that's just how he was. I felt my face get hotter, and felt my heart beat a bit faster than before.

'Oum Y/n...you have no idea what you do to me.'

I decided that we had long enough till we got back to Beacon, so I leaned against the side of his chest, and rested my head in his shoulder, ready to catch some sleep. He shifted in his sleep, and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me in closer. I felt the heat rise even more, but controlled myself as I snuggled in, and got comfortable.

'Sleep tight Y/n...'

'I love you'
