(Alright! This is gonna be the second technical fight scene I've done and this needs a LOT more detail than our bout with matchstick. I will do my best, but that is all I can promise. Now then lets-

Y/n: "BRING OUT BIG BIRD ALREADY I WANT SOME CHICKEN!"

wha-how-you aren't supposed to be here! Get out!! And fix that god damn wall!!!

Y/n: "Oh yeah? Or what?"

*brandishes morning star* I made you, I can unmake you just as easily!

Y/n: "Ok fine chill! Are you okay? Your not usually this aggressive."

This is hard okay?! This is gonna be difficult and I dont need us-fuck-I mean I dont need YOU breaking shit! Now shoo! Ugh sorry about that...let's just get started...fucking 130 words wasted...)

Y/n Pov

As I waited for the Deathstalkers stinger to hit me, I suddenly felt a gust of cold wind, I stayed on my feet but it frazzled my hair and knocked my glasses off my face.

???: "You two are so childish!"

I opened my eyes and lowered my arms to see the Deathstalkers stinger encased in a massive ice formation, and Weiss in front of me with her rapier planted in it, making it very obvious that she was the one who saved my life...well maybe I could've taken it. She continued with her rant as she pulled her weapon from the ice and turned to face us.

Weiss: "And dim-witted, and hyperactive, and don't even get me started on your fighting style. And I suppose I can be a bit...difficult...but if we're going to do this, we're going to have to do this together. So if you quit trying to show off, I'll be... nicer." She finally finished her scolding, mostly directed at Ruby, in what I assumed was a very rare moment of humility. Ruby was the first to speak.

Ruby: "I'm not trying to show off. I just want you to know I can do this." Ruby put forth, slightly downtrodden. Weiss let out a sigh and replied.

Weiss: "You're fine." She then looked at me. "I'm still not sure about you...or exactly what you are. But it seems like you aren't going anywhere so we might as well try to make this work." She put her hand forward for me to shake. I was a little thrown off and my hair was still frazzled. Once I snapped out of my shock I responded.

Y/n: "That's good enough for me." I said as I returned the handshake. With all said and done she turned and walked back to the rest of the group. Ruby let out a sigh of relief.

Ruby: "normal knees..." she said under her breath. I chuckled a bit and offered her a hand up. Once she was on her feet...we were both almost tackled straight to the ground again in a monster hug from Yang.

Yang: "Thank Oum you two are okay!" She let out in relief. "Y/n thank you for helping Ruby." She released the hug and shared the comfortable moment of safety...until we looked up to see the Nevermore circling above, it let's out a roar and Jaune speaks up.

Jaune: "Guys! That thing is circling back! What do we do?" He questioned in a worried tone.

Weiss: "Look theres no sense in dilly-dallying. Our objective is right in front of us." Weiss reminds the group in a matter of fact tone. Ruby gives a nod to Weiss.

Ruby: "She's right. Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliff. Theres no point in fighting these things." Ruby stated, taking charge of the situation.

Jaune: "Run and live. That's an idea I can get behind." I decided to participate at least so I fixed my hair and spoke.

Y/n: "Alright everyone you heard her. Make sure you've got your pieces and kets get moving!"

With our goal in mind Jaune and Ruby both went up to a pedestal. Ruby grabbed a golden knight relic and Jaune grabbed a golden rook. The Deathstalker is fighting its icy bonds and the ice is beginning to crack slightly.

Ren: "Time we left!" He alerts the others.

Ruby: "Right." She waves the others along. "Let's go!" The group begins the run back to the cliff. I follow Ruby up onto a nearby boulder and watch as she leads the group onwards.

'She's better at this than she thinks.' I thought. Blake and Yang catch up and we both hop down from our spot, joining the rest of the group in the run towards the cliff looming nearby.

Give or take 10 minutes we eventually emerged from the trees near the foot of the cliff. In between us and the cliff wall was a large, seemingly bottomless chasm that went all the way to the cliff face. A huge old temple was built over the chasm that rested against the wall of the cliff. During our entire run here the Nevermore had been following us above the trees, and now was no different. It pulled ahead of us as we ran onto the large bridge of the ruins. We took cover behind a set of pillars and the behemoth of a bird flew over to the large tower in the center of the ruins, perching itself on top and let out a loud roar.

Yang: "Well that's great!" Yang called out in annoyance. Loud crashing and the sound of trees falling was heard from the direction we came as the Deathstalker, now free of its ice prison, burst through the treeline and began to charge at us.

Jaune: "Ah man, run!" He called out. With no other choice the gang ran out from our cover and advanced further onto the bridge, causing the Nevermore to rise up again and dive towards us.

Ren: "Nora! Distract it!" At his command Nora whipped out what looked to be a grenade launcher and began to fire powerful shots at the Nevermore, causing it to go off course and turn away. The Deathstalker almost snuck up on her but Blake and Ren both struck its face simultaneously causing it to stagger. Weiss leaps next to Nora and uses one of her glyphs to boost them out of harm's way. Blake and Ren, now with a deathstalker on their tails, retreated farther onto the platform, catching up with the rest of the gang quickly.

Pyrrha: "Go! Go!" The spartan girl called out to the two as she withdrew her spear and changed it into a rifle, taking a knee and laying fire onto the large grimm. Renn also used his pistols to lay fire into the Deathstalker until it approached them, almost unfazed by the weapons. It attempted to swipe at them but put group takes off again racing over the ancient bridge.

The Nevermore suddenly flys directly into the section of bridge we are running on, busting right through the structure. We all jump to safety, but the party is split with Ren, Pyrrha and Blake on the side with the Deathstalker closing in, while Ruby, Yang, Weiss, Jaune, Nora and I are one the other end as we advance up to the central platform and leap on top of the large column. Ruby opens fire on the Nevermore as it temporarily retreats.

'Here comes the fun part!'

Eventually Blake, after pulling off some moves that would make most anime protagonists sick with jealousy, lands beside us on the column.

Blake: "Its tougher than it looks!"   She informed us as the Nevermore approached. Yang readied her gauntlets and spoke.

Yang: "Then let's hit it with everything weve got!" After her statement the rest of the girls readied their weapons to unleash a hail of gunfire onto the Nevermore...which got me thinking.

'Ok...I can summon weapons apparently so let's try something with a little more...kick.' I once again focus my thoughts on a weapon and attempt to conjure it. After a moment I feel a new weight in my hands and open my eyes to see exactly what I was thinking of...albeit looking like a shadow but hey it looks pretty cool.

"Oh hell yeah!" And with that said and done I also get ready to open fire on the Nevermore.

After a half second of anticipation, we unleash a hail of high powered fire and ranged attacks, but unfortunately the Nevermore is unfazed as it roams straight into the structure we're on, sailing right through it. As the columns begin to collapse we begin to hop further upwards on platforms and falling debris until we reach a higher bridge just below the cliffs.

Weiss: "None of this is working!" Weiss points out. Ruby and I observe the scene and watch as Blake whips around on her weapons ribbon and Yang stands atop a pillar, firing round after flaming round at the giant bird. Ruby and I share a look as we seem to come up with the same plan. She turns to Weiss.

Ruby: "I have a plan! Cover Us!" She instructs Weiss. The rapier wielder leaps into the fray as Ruby and I blast away to inform the others of our plan.

After a few difficult minutes of getting the message to Yang and Blake through all the fighting, the plan is almost set. Yang is pelting the bird with firepower until she lands a blow on its face, causing it to head right towards her. Yang courageously leaps onto the Nevermores face and holds its beaks open, screaming and firing a round into the beasts mouth with each syllable.

Yang: "I!Hope!Your!Hun-gry!" She takes a look behind her and leaps from the large grimms beak and onto a nearby ruin as the stunned Nevermore flys directly into the cliff. It falls for a bit but lands on its feet on a platform connecting to the cliff.

The Nevermore begins to take off again, but just before it can clear the platform entirely, Weiss dashed forward and uses an ice attack to freeze the Nevermore to the platform but its tail. Once the bird is trapped Weiss falls back to a set of two pillars. Blake flys next to one pillar and tosses her weapon with its ribbon over to the other, allowing Yang to catch it. The two girls pull the ribbon tight and Weiss gets behind the ribbon and prepares a large glyph. Ruby and I both leap on to the center of the makeshift slingshot, pulling the ribbon back until it reaches Weiss's glyph which turns black and holds the ribbon in place. Ruby is propped on Crescent Rose while I sort of float on the piece of ribbon.

Weiss: "Of course you would come up with this idea." Weiss remarked.

Y/n: "Hush you, this is gonna be awesome." I held my rifle firm in my right hand and summoned a combat knife in my left.

Ruby: "Can you make that shot?" Ruby questioned Weiss, who replied with confidence.

Weiss: "Hmph! Can I!" A moment of silence passed.

Ruby: "Can't?"

Weiss: "Of course I can!" Weiss yelled. Ruby and I shared a confident look before she chambered Crescent Rose, and I slapped the bolt shut on my rifle.

Weiss's glyph changed from black to red and launched us towards the Nevermore. Ruby collided with the Nevermore, catching its neck with her scythe and making it crash into the cliff. I collided with its chest and plunged my knife in its sternum to get a tight hold. Weiss formed a series of glyphs going straight up the cliff, and Ruby, after bracing herself, used her semblance to run along the glyphs and up the cliff, dragging the Nevermore by the neck the whole way, and firing her weapon to pick up even more speed. I held on tight to the Nevermore and began to fire into its chest as we ascended. As we reached the top of the cliff, Ruby let out a battle cry as she came up over the edge of the cliff and fired Crescent Rose one last time, causing her to rend the Nevermores head from its shoulders. I leapt from the bullet ridden chest of the Nevermore and slung my rifle over my back as I landed on the cliff and spun on my heels to face the falling corpse of the Nevermore and summoned one last thing.

"Hasta la vista...baby." I quoted in a deep voice and let a round fly. Ad Ruby landed next to me, I struck a pose with the launcher over my shoulder and watched as the body of the Nevermore exploded in a fireball. Ruby turned to me with a deadpan expression.

Ruby: "Was that really necessary?"

Y/n: "Oh dont even pretend that wasnt awesome. Besides, this world has not been blessed with the wealth of comedy and references that is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Poor lost souls the lot of you. And also, I'm not the one quite literally scattering rose petals into the wind right now. I do have to admit you look awesome right now." I remarked, smirking at her. She rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless and we looked back over the cliff to see that Jaune, Ren, Nora and Pyrrha had dealt with the Deathstalker while we were busy with the Nevermore. I decided to mess with them a bit.

"Get on up here slowpokes!" I shouted down the cliff. I swear I could hear Weiss groan from up here which got a chuckle out of me. We stood at the top of the cliff and waited for the others to catch up while I dismissed my weapons. I took a look at myself.

'I should probably get some new clothes. This isnt exactly battle wear...'

Timeskip to the ceremony

3rd person Pov

All of the first years are once again gathered in the auditorium. Upon the stage stands professor Ozpin, who is calling people on stage and announcing teams.

Ozpin: "Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark." As he called their names and the respective first years stepped forward, their portraits appeared on the large screen above the stage for all to see. "Thefour of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL (Cardinal), led by... Cardin Winchester!" The audience gave one more ovation as t four other students taking their place on the stage and appear on the screen.

Ozpin: "Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR (Juniper)." As the audience applauds, Nora hugs Ren tightly. Ozpin continues. "Led by...Jaune Arc!" The audience applauds even more while Jaune stands there shocked.

Jaune: "Huh? L-Led by?" He stammers. Ozpin keeps his neutral expression.

Ozpin: "Congratulations young man."

Pyrrha offers a friendly shoulder bump to Jaune, but the young Arc is sent to the floor by the light shove. Ozpin prepares to announce the last team.

Ozpin: "Now this next team is rather...special. And due to the unique circumstances of its members, it will be Beacon academy's first technical five man team. However for the sake of tradition, the team name shall be of four letters still." Confused glances, whispers and murmurs come from the crowd, but are silence when the headmaster speaks again. "Will Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee and Yang Xiao Long please come forth." The four girls take their spots on the stage, causing even more confusion in the audience as the whispers and murmurs grow, but are personally silenced by the headmaster with a raise of his hand.

Ozpin: "Will Y/n L/n please make himself known." A moment of silence passes and Ruby seems to elbow something  to her right. Several gasps of shock and some of fright erupt from the audience as shadows from the corners of the auditorium seem to float to the stage and swirl to the right of Ruby, who seems unfazed by the events, and is actually smiling. After swirling for a moment, the shadows settle into the form of a familiar teenage boy, who is different shades of black and grey with piercing silver eyes, looking like a shadow with features, and featuring a smug smirk on his face. Clearly pleased with the confusion and shock he has caused. Once Y/n is fully formed on the stage, Ozpin continued his speech, suppressing the murmurs of the crow once more.

Ozpin: "There is nothing to fear students. He is an ordinary person like the rest of you, albeit his circumstances are quite unique." The audience seems appeased with Ozpins explanation and quiets down. "The five of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY (Ruby). Led by... Ruby Rose!" The audience once more erupts into applause, with some even cheering, excited to see a five man team.

Amongst the newly formed team. Weiss looks to her right in surprise at the announcement of team leader. Ruby herself is also in shock but is snapped out of it by a bone crushing hug from her sister stood beside her.

Yang: "I'm so proud of you!" She squeals in excitement. Y/n speaks in an attempt to save Ruby from suffocation.

Y/n: "Uhm Yang I think your kinda killing her." Seeing his point, Yang sets her sister down who takes a loud inhale, desperate for oxygen. While the applause continues, Ozpin muses to himself.

Ozpin: "It looks like things are shaping up to be an...interesting year."

Timeskip 15 minutes

After the final announcement of teams, leaders were given dorm numbers and sent off te sleep. An exhausted team RWBY arrives in their dorm where an immediate issue, at least in the minds of Weiss, Blake and Yang, appears.

There are five members of the team, and only four beds in the room. Y/n, having practically felt the thought on their minds, spoke up.

Y/n: "Dont worry about the beds, I dont need one. I can literally just hover all night. And besides I'm not a creep, I've already spent over a month with Ruby. I'm not gonna do anything weird." He said in an attempt to reassure the girls that he was not a degenerate.

Ruby: "I can vouch for him. Hes fine." Ruby said with a yawn. Weiss and Blake were tempted to press the subject, but were to tired to care and gathered their nightwear. Yang had already changed in the dorms bathroom and was knocked out snoring on one of the beds.

Y/n: "I'll step out for a moment. Knock when it's safe to come in." The young man requested and stepped outside of the dorm, leaning against the door. After a few minutes there was a light knock on the door, letting him know the girls were done. He stepped inside to see Blake and Weiss already fast asleep, while Ruby was sitting on her bed.

Ruby: "This is gonna be hard..." she said looking out over her sleeping teammates. Sensing that she needed help, Y/n took a seat on the bed beside her and spoke up, quietly as to not disturb the others.

Y/n: "Let me guess...leadership anxiety?" He questioned. She didnt speak but gave him a nod as a response, her face clearly showing that she was questioning whether or not she could do this in her own head. Y/n frowned at the state of Ruby and gave her a one arm hug from the side. "Hey, it hasnt even started yet. Your more fit to lead than you think you are." She didnt seem convinced and frowned a bit more. "Hey." He said in an attempt to get her attention, turning her to face him. She looked up at him to see eyes filled with sincerity, and kindness. "You'll be okay Rosebud. I promise. And I'll be right here beside you, every, step, of the way. Alright? Now come on, where's that pretty smile?" She seemed slightly flustered, but Ruby closed her eyes, took a deep breath and let it out again. When she opened her eyes again she looked up and smiled at him. "There she is. Now come on, it's a big day tommorow and you need some sleep." He stood up from the bed and stretched as Ruby got herself situated and ready for sleep. Y/n let himself float at the same level as the girls in the beds and placed his hands behind his head, ready to fall asleep. He was about to drift off when Ruby quietly called out to him.

Ruby: "Y/n?" The boy rotated himself I  midair to look as if he was on his side, and faced her. Once she had his attention she spoke again. "Do you think you could sing me one of your songs?"  Y/n let put a low chuckle.

Y/n: "Sure Rosebud." He put his feet back on the ground, and then sat on the bed again, resting his back against the wall as Ruby made some space for him. He put his hands put in front of him, and summoned a small box with a wind up switch on its side. "Ready?" He asked her. Ruby gave a nod and he began to turn the switch. Once he stopped turning it, the top popped open to reveal a small figurine of a person, sitting in a bed of flowers, and holding a rose. The figurine began to spin, and notes began to play, which Y/n eventually sang along to, as quietly as he could so the others hopefully wouldn't wake up.

(Sorry but your gonna have to imagine it's a male voice. The covers I found were all bad and didnt work in my opinion)

As he sang, Ruby felt her eyes grow heavy and eventually fell asleep, unconsciously clinging to his arm. When he finished his song, he looked to see a peacefully sleeping Ruby clinging onto him. Not bothered in the slightest, he set the box on the mattress beside him, not bothering to close it, and settled in. Ruby shifted closer to him in her sleep. He chuckled a bit.

Y/n: "Goodnight Rosebud."

He closed his eyes with a smile, and drifted into sleep...till the dawn carries them into a brand new day.
