(Yknow I'm really glad I didnt give a guaranteed time for when chapters come out. I try to write chapters often but it can take a while so please bare with me. Anyways...in the words of the almighty scooter...CATCH A RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE!!!!)

"I am REALLY glad I dont get allergies anymore..." I though aloud, though my comment seemed to go unnoticed. Currently Ruby, Weiss and I were walking in a random direction through the Emerald forest, searching for the temple. Weiss was walking ahead while Ruby and I hung back a little ways, not in any particular rush. Ruby seemed to take notice of how far ahead Weiss was and called out to her.

Ruby: "What's the hurry?" She questioned the girl in white. She didnt even turn around as she began to give a snarky response.

Weiss: "I will not let my mission be delayed because your too slow!" Ruby and I exchanged a look and smirked as we looked forward again. "I swear if I get a bad grade because of your-" She was cut off as both Ruby and I appeared on either side of her. Ruby was smiling brightly while I was trying not to laugh at how shocked the Ice Queen was. "What the...?"

Ruby: "We arent slow, see?" Ruby put forth. I followed suit.

Y/n: "You dont need to worry about us keeping pace Ice Queen." I informed her. I did my best to suppress a chuckle while Weiss was still looking amazed.

Weiss: "When did...?" Weiss was once again cut off by Ruby.

Ruby: "Weiss just because I dont exactly know how to deal with people doesnt mean I dont know how to deal with monsters!" She puts an arm around the shoulders of a now very skeptical Weiss's shoulders and continues. "You're about to see a whole different side of me today, Weiss, and after it's all over, you're going to be like, 'Wow! That Ruby girl is really, really cool... and I wanna be her friend!'" After Ruby finished talking she looked at me with a smirk., I let out a sigh but couldnt help but smile as we both took off to fast for Weiss to see, Ruby herself leaving behind a shower of rose petals that clouded Weiss's vision for a moment.

Ruby and I hadn't gone far. Just to a nearby tree branch out of Weiss's field of vision. I turned my attention to Ruby to notice she looked deep in thought so I asked her.

Y/n: "You holdin up okay there rosebud?" She seemed to snap out of her trance after my question.

Ruby: "Huh? Oh! Yeah! Just thinking is all. I'm just not good with people ynkow? And I mean it's obvious she doesn't think I'm able to do thisandIjustwannashow herIcanandIdontknow-" her speech continued to descend into something fast and unintelligible so I cut her off but shushing her with a finger over her mouth.

Y/n: "Slow down okay rubes? I cant help you if I cant understand you." She pouted at me slightly and I removed my finger. She stammered slightly as she threw a question at me.

Ruby: "H-how many nicknames are you gonna come up with?" I gave her a smirk while I responded.

Y/n: "Enough to spice things up every now and then. But besides that you need to take it easy. I can understand that you might think you need to prove yourself to Weiss but your just gonna tire yourself out. Its bot your fault, this girl is just kinda up her own ass-"

Ruby: "Swear jar!" Ruby interrupted me as she suddenly pulled a small clear glass jar out of nowhere and shoved it in my face. To say I was caught off guard is an understatement. In fact I almost fell off the tree branch.

Y/n: "Woah! Wha-swear jar?? Since when?!? Its been a whole month and you do this now?!?" I asked with genuine confusion.

Ruby: "*giggles* Yup! I'm putting a limit on that potty mouth of yours! Four audible swears a week! Any more and you put some lien in the swear jar! That was number five! Pay up!" She put forth with a confident smirk on her face. I wanted to protest but...I could probably do with cleaning up my language a bit.

Y/n: "*sigh* well I dont have any money right now so..." I looked around for a second before snagging a leaf off of the tree branch above us and putting it in the jar. "There. Happy now Ms. Diction Deputy?" She let out another giggle and put the jar away to Oum knows where... I picked up on saying Oum instead of god a lot faster than I thought I would. "Anyways we should probably get back now."

Ruby: "Right!" We turned our attention back to where we left Weiss to see that while we were distracted, a pack of Beowulves had appeared and edged her back toward the tree we were on. Ruby and I exchanged a look and nodded to each other. I took a stance while she unfolded Crescebt Rose in its scythe form.

Two Beowulves were slowly closing in on Weiss ahead of the others. Ruby and I leapt from the tree at the same time and Ruby fired off a shot from her weapon, using the recoil to close in faster on the grimm to Weiss's left, when she reached it she brought her scythe down and sent the Beowulf flying across the clearing. I focused on the Beowulf to the right and brought my foot down in a powerful axe kick, knocking the creature off of its feet and planting its head in the ground. Unfortunately, it seems that when Ruby came in and struck her target, Weiss was forced to re-direct a dust attack she was preparing in order to not hit Ruby, and ended up sending a line of fire along the ground and right into a tree, sending it up in a blazing fire, and quickly starting to spread around the clearing. Ruby calls out Weiss.

Ruby: "Hey watch it!"

Weiss: "Excuse me! You attacked out of turn! I could've killed you!"

Ruby: "You'll have to try a lot harder than that..."

Y/n: "Girls! Now ain't the time!" I called out as the rest of the pack started to close in on us, whining and howling. We readied ourselves for a fight until a flaming tree collapsed near us.

Weiss: "We need to go!" Weiss yelled out as she began to lead Ruby out of the fire and I followed suit, managing to get out as the grass was starting to catch fire where we were.

We ran a safe distance away before we stopped. Weiss was leaned over out of breath and panting while Ruby and I were fine. Ruby looked back where we came from and then turned to Weiss.

Ruby: "What was that?! That should've been easy!" Ruby called out Weiss, not happy with having to run away. Weiss stood up straight and spoke in an annoyed tone.

Weiss: "Well perhaps if you had exercised even the slightest amount of caution with the placement of your strikes, I wouldn't have set the forest on fire!" Ruby scoffs.

Ruby: "What's that supposed to mean?"

Weiss: "I'm just surprised someone who talks so much would communicate so little during an encounter!" Ruby was clearly upset that she was getting pinned for the whole encounter.

Ruby: "Well I'm sorry you need my help to win a fight! I'm just fine on my own!"

Weiss: "Well congratulations on being the strongest child to sneak your way into Beacon! Bravo!" I'd had just about enough and decided to throw in my piece.

Y/n: "Hey! Maybe you should've thought about where you were before trying to set ANYTHING on fire!" I pointed out. Weiss just scoffed at the suggestion and stormed off in a random direction. Ruby let out an agitated cry and cut a tree in half with Crescent Rose in her rage, before storming off in pursuit of Weiss. I let out a sigh before I started following the two.

About an hour of aimless walking later we stop under the trees. It was obvious we were lost but Weiss was too stubborn to admit it. I had tried flying above the treeline to see where we need to go, but I couldnt get high enough to spot the temple. Now Ruby was sitting on the forest floor picking random leaves off the floor in boredom, I was lying sprawled out on the floor in front of her looking up at the sky, and Weiss was walking back and forth in random directions trying to act like she knew where we were.

Weiss: "Its definetely this way." She stops in uncertainty and starts walking the opposite direction. "I mean...this way! Its definetely this way!" She stops in front of Ruby and I. "Alright, its official, we passed it!" Ruby flicked the leaf she had in her hand away and landed on my nose as she began to stand up.

Ruby: "Weiss, why cant you just admit that you have no idea where we're going?"

I picked up the leaf on my face and looked at it for a moment.

Weiss: "Because I know exactly where we're going! We're going... to... the forest temple!" Ruby let's out an annoyed sigh. "Oh, stop it! You dont know where were going either!"

I flicked the leaf to the side and looked back up at the sky.

'I'm hungry...' I thought as the girls continued their bickering.

Ruby: "Well at least I'm not pretending like I know everything."

Weiss: "What's that supposed to mean!?"

Ruby: "It means your a big, stupid, jerk and I hate you!" Weiss sighs, spins around and starts walking off.

Weiss: "Just keep moving!"

I float myself to my feet and follow behind the two.

Ruby: "Oh, just keep moving! Hurry up! Waaaah! Watch where you're going! *in her normal voice* Why are you so bossy?"

Weiss: "*turns to face Ruby* "I'm not bossy! Dont say things like that!"

Ruby: "Stop treating me like a kid!"

Weiss: "Stop acting like a kid!"

Ruby: "Well, stop acting like you're perfect!"

Weiss: "I'm. Not. Perfect! Not yet... But I'm still leagues better than you." And with that she turns and starts walking away again. I had just chalked what she said up to Weiss being her bitchy self and left it at that, but Ruby seemed offput by it. She looked down dejectedly and spoke to no one in particular.

Ruby: "You dont even know me..."

I dont know why I hate seeing her sad so much. It pangs my heart. I put an arm around her in an attempt to comfort her as we walked deeper into the forest. We all walked in silence for a bit until I spotted something resting in a nearby clearing that might help us.

Y/n: "Hey girls..." they both turned to me and then looked towards what i spotted. I looked at the two and smirked as a plan formed in my head. "Ive got an idea..." Ruby beamed as she seemed to get where I was going with this, while Weiss seemed confused.

Timeskip about 10 minutes

"I BELIEVE I CAN FLYYYYYYYYYYY!" I cried out partially due to the flood of raw dopamine flying through my system...mostly for the sake of doing it though. Currently, Ruby, Weiss and myself were roughly 600 feet in the air, hanging from the talons of a giant nevermore we found in the forest.



We had agitated the bird into taking off and were now soaring above the Emerald Forest, luckily, in the direction of the temple, which we could see not far from us...well horizontally far at least. Weiss cried out in distress.

Weiss: "I told you this was a terrible idea!!" She yelled above the wind. I yelled back at her.

Y/n: "We're fine! Stop worrying!"

Weiss: "Oh I am so far past worrying!" Ruby then joined the shout fest.

Ruby: "In a good way?"

Weiss: "In a bad way! In a very bad way!" I looked back down and saw that we were almost above the temple. Perfect for...

Ruby: "Well why dont we just jump?" Ruby suggested like the absolute GENIUS she us. I smiled like a maniac.

Y/n: "Read my mind rosebud!" And with that both me and Ruby let go of the nevermore's talons, plummeting towards the ground at speeds that would make most bystanders sick... I had different opinions though.

Y/n: "WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!" I howled just barely loud enough for Ruby to hear above the howling wind. I looked back at the temple to see Blake and Yang looking up at us with wide eyes. 'Oh right, landing strategy...' I decided to get a little cinematic so I maneuvered my way over to Ruby, got a hold of her and outrighted us in air as I began to slow our descent. By the time we were 10 meters off the ground we were harmlessly floating to the ground, I took a glance at Ruby who I was still holding dramatically in my arms and saw that she was having the time of her life. Didnt quite take her for that much of a daredevil. Ruby called out to the two still shocked ladies on the ground.

Ruby: "Heads up!" This seemed to snap Yang out of her shock as she immediately yelled out, trying to see if here eyes were playing tricks on her.

Yang: "Y/n?!? Ruby?!?" I just smirked as I began to arc our descent towards the two so we'd land right in front of them.

Y/n: "Oh dont mind us..." I called out and then, because 'fuck it's I thought, as we landed..."we were just...dropping by." I waited for the reactions to my pun. To my delight, all of Yang's worry disappeared and she was trying not to burst out laughing, Blake gave a small smile, and even Ruby let out a giggle. "And with that the score is, Y/n: 1 Gravity: 0" I pride fully quipped as I set Ruby back on her own two feet and ruffled her hair a bit. I somehow, at the time, didnt notice Jaune fly by above us and get caught on a tree branch.

Blake: "Did you two seriously just fall from the sky?" Yang looked like she was about to speak byt was interrupted as several loud crashing noises were heard from the treeline, and a large Ursa emerges from the brush, flailing its claws wildly in rage before a pink blast of energy strikes it in the back and it falls over dead. Depositing its rider in front of it.

Nora: "YEEEEE-HAAAAAW" calls out the ginger girl from the locker room as she fills off the back of the dead Ursa. She looks back at the creature and let's out a saddened groan. "Aaww...its broken.." she stands there for a moment observing the carcass with a disappointed look before Ren comes out of the treeline from as well and props an arm on the corpse of the Ursa as he bends over, completely out of breath.

Ren: "Nora! *pant* please...never do that again." He looks up and notices that Nora is no longer by the Ursa corpse, but rather has dashed over to the temple to observe the artifacts. The temple looks like a destroyed ring platform with pedestals. On each of the pedestals rests a...chess piece?

Nora: "Ooooh!" The ginger girl let's out as she picks up a golden rook she was observing and places it on top of her head, followed by an indescribable dance as she exclaims. "I'm the queen of the castle! I'm the queen of the castle!" She her dance is interrupted however when Ren calls out to her.

Ren: "Nora!" The mass of energy shaped like a girl suddenly stopped dancing as she remembered Ren with a shocked look on her face, she let the piece fall off her head and into her hand as she responded to him with a salute and her cheery face back immediately.

Nora: "Coming Ren!" And with that she skips back over to the boy. Blake chose this moment to ask another obvious question.

Blake: "Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?" Yang was about to respond again before another yell is heard. We look to our right and from the treeline the spartan armored girl from before comes running with a giant grimm scorpion on her tail. I think Ruby told me that was a Deathstalker before. It was heavily armored and had a glowing yellow stinger. It was also pretty battle scarred which meant this thing was old and could take a hit.

Jaune called out to the girl.

Jaune: "Pyrrha!" The girl now known as Pyrrha looked over to him and called back. (This is the canon spelling for her name is weird but if I do it differently its gonna irk me)

Pyrrha: "Jaune!" I assumed they were partners but Jayne was still hanging upside down in a tree branch and Pyrrha was running practically in circles from the Deathstalker. Meanwhile in Blakeville...

Blake: "Did that girl just run all the way here with a Deathstalker on her tail?" Yang looked like she was about to explode...then she did. Her hair lit up in a burst of fire as her eyes flashed red and she yelled.

Yang: "I cant take it anymore! Can everyone just chill out for two seconds before something crazy happens again?!?" Silence follows as Ren and Nora walk up to the rest of the group and Pyrrha is still running from the Deathstalker in the background. A literal two seconds go by before Ruby tugs on her sisters sleeve slightly.

Ruby: "Uhm...Yang?" She gets the blondes attention and points up to the sky. We all look up to see that Weiss is still hanging onto the talon of the gigantic Nevermore. The girl calls down from her position in the sky.

Weiss: "*distant* HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME?!?" Ruby and I exchange a glance and then turn back to Weiss.

Ruby: "*shouting to be heard by Weiss* I said 'Jump'!" Ruby calls back. Blake speaks up.

Blake: "She's gonna fall." Duby and I both brushed it off.

Y/n&Ruby: "She'll be fine." Ren then chimed in.

Ren: "She's falling."

Said snow princess was not indeed falling quickly from the sky. I was getting ready to jump up and catch her but before I could a certain blonde knight kept from his position on a tree branch. Jaune caught Weiss midair and seemed to say something, before he then realized he too was now falling. They both plummeted to the ground, with Jaune landing first on his face...then Weiss landed in a sitting position right on his back.

Weiss: "My hero..." she sarcastically remarked, not getting off of him.

Jaune: "My back..." Jaune weakly called from his position in the dirt. It is at this point that Pyrrha is sent flying over to the rest of us and lands on her side in front of the gang.

Yang: "Great the gangs all here! Now we can die together." Yang put forth, clearly out of fucks to give. Ruby however wasnt having it, and thought she could handle it.

Ruby: "Not if I can help it!" She put forth. With a battle cry she unfolded Crescent Rose and charged at the Deathstalker.

Y/n&Yang: "Rosebud/Ruby wait!" Yang and I both called after her. I rushed in to try and help but I was still behind her when she ran up and tried to strike the Deathstalker. Her attack bounced off the creature like it was nothing and the creature batted her away with a pincer. She landed on the ground right in front of me and stood up.

Ruby: "D-Do-Dont worry! Totally fine!" She fired one last futile shot at the arachnid which bounced off of its armor. She sheathed her weapon we started to run back to the group but the Nevermore from earlier had circled around and began to launch a storm of giant razor sharp feathers at us. We were doing a good job of dodging the feathers before Ruby's hood caught snagged by one and pinned to the ground keeping her there with it. I immediately set to work trying to lodge the feather but was having no luck. The Deathstalker was closing in and I had to think fast.

Y/n: "Ok! Now would be a great time for a new trick!" I focused my mind and tried to conjure something up like I did with my glasses. 'Come on, think!' I screamed in my head. I let myself conjure the first weapon that came to mind and felt something heavy in my hand. Not even looking what it was I swung at the feather, cutting off the bulky top half. I slid her hood up and off the feather and got her to her feet. "Are you ok?"

Ruby: "Y-yeah I'm fi-Look out!!" After her warning I whirled around to see the Deathstalker about to strike with its stinger.

I braced myself for a hit...

...

That never came...
