With Love
Until that day, fear had been an idea, a concept. Now it was real: a feeling I would carry inside me for the rest of my life. The day began innocently enough, with a simple car ride. I was listening- well, more like I was rocking out to my music like usual and everything was normal.
I was at a stop light, singing along when the light turned green. I started forward and a truck to my right ran a red. Next thing I know, I'm staring up at the hospital ceiling, listening to the doctors that surround me. I was the victim of a intentional hit-and-run. There was a piece of metal protruding from my abdomen and the doctors were rushing me to surgery. I tell ya, period pain, just as bad as this, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Everything after that is a little spotty until the men in suits show up. My mother was asleep in a chair next to me while holding my hand. I had been awake reading, worried I'd wake her up when the shouting started. Two men in suits then barged into my room followed by frantic nurses and doctors. "You can't be in here!" They said.
My mom was awake then. "Who are you? Why are you here?" She asked.
"Everybody, this is a federal matter. We must talk to Morrigan in private now." That was it. They said nothing else until the nurses and doctors left.
They proceeded to tell me that I was targeted by some big bad that they had been surveilling for years. They gave the doctors three hours to get me ready to be discharged before they took me away from my mom and everything normal in my life.
Now, for the past ten months, I've been moving around in the Witness Protection Program, being hidden from those who targeted me. What I witnessed, I'm not sure, they refuse to tell me.
I've written this letter to all sorts of people countless times but each time, I destroy it for I know I would likely die should this get out and they find out I'm alive. If, for some reason, this is out, find my mom Joy Harper and tell her that her daughter loved her very much and to know that I will be looking down on her at my funeral so she isn't alone.
If you don't, I swear I'll haunt your ass.
-Kisses,
Morrigan Harper
