Carmella's P.O.V

I watch the ball roll down the bowling alley lane and hit all the pins down, this tallying it up to me winning. Ryder puts his head down as I dance around looking like an idiot. "No offense but I tried to tell you that... I'd beat your butt!" I yell triumphantly, "ha thanks for rubbing it in my face." Said a jealous Ryder, I frown and lean in to hug him. He hugs back and places a kiss atop my head, then takes my hand and walks me back to the car. Before getting in he hugs me again and wraps his arms around me and his jacket. "This is nice, it makes me feel like home." "I always feel warm and happy when I am with you Carmella Coltberry." He says, I smile and then we get in the car and head back to campus.

"Oh, hey I'm getting a call from my dad." I say to Ryder as I turn the music down. I hit answer and here it pick up. "Hey dad, how are you doing?!" I ask with joy in my voice. "I'm good honey, are you sitting sown right now?" "Uh yeah, why what's up?" I ask. "There's something I've been meaning to tell you. Before Christmas your mother and I found out that she had gotten breast cancer. We didn't want to tell you then and ruin your happiness. She's in the hospital right now and something happened, so I thought I should tell you. I know there isn't much to do since your so far but...." He trails off.

But I don't finish taking this all in tears roll down my cheeks, and my face makes and ugly expression. "Wha- why didn't you tell me?" I ask choking on my words. "Because honey we wanted to wait." Ryder takes a turn and clenches his jaw. "Look dad I'm going to have to call you back when I've calmed down." I say, then press the red hang up button. "Did you h-." "Yah, I did." He says in a small voice. I start breaking down crying and then he pulls over and turns off the car to hold me. He comforts me and tries calming me down.

"Carmella?" "Yah?" I ask still crying a bit, "I knew too. Your dad told me the day I went over there and had me promise not to tell you. I'm so sorry." He says, I pull away, "a part of me is hurt that you didn't tell me and I don't understand. But the other part understands you didn't have much of a choice." I say, he nods and continues the drive.

I lay back on my bed feeling warm from the shower I just had. My roommate sits on her bed reading and listening to music through her earbuds. The happiness I had gained earlier is now gone, someone knocks on our door but opens it anyway. I see Ryder and he sits by me and waves to Loren. "How you doing?" He asks, I shrug still not having the want or need to talk. "Do you need or want anything?" He asks me, I shake my head and get up grabbing a packet of cookies from the desk. I open it up and eat one settling back down on my bed.

"You know i'll actually let you be, I should really get back to my campus." I nod and let him leave and let myself devour another cookie. My roomate sits by me on my bed and looks at me, "Ryder told me what happened." " I am so sorry, if there is anything I can do I'll do it for you." She goes. "Yah, thanks." She gets up and walks back over to her bed reading and listening to music again. My phone buzzes and I see that I have two new messages from Zach. I open my phone and read them replying back with a small answer hoping he won't text back. For now I'd like to be left alone from the world.

"Hey, Carmella wake up! There's a fire!" I open my eyes and see my roomate, then realize what she said. I put on my shoes and grab my phone as we run out the building. A huge fireburst in front of us closing off our way, we look around and run in a diffrent direction. I see and elevator and run to it. "Carmella no! It's too dangerous," "we have no other choice! Just trust me it's a dead end from here." I say. "The window, we can jump from our window." She says, "I guess," we run back and close the door behind us, "I'll go first." She says, with a powerful nudge it opens and then she crawls out and jumps. I look through to see there is the pool that broke her fall. So, I jump to, hoping to make it. But I hit hard and scream after hearing a bone pop very loudly.

"Carmella!" "Oh my gosh, stay right there I'll go get somone." She says, minutes later somone sets me on a gurnie and straps me up before pushing me away. Pain spirals through my arm, "call Ryder!" I yell to Loren, she frantically searches for her phone and pulls it out, I am set in the back of the ambulance and taken away.

My eyes open and my mind settles for a minute. This again, being in a hospital, great. My arm is covered in a white cast and my pajamas still on me. A doctor walks in and comes up to me. "You have nothing to worry of, all that happened is that you have a broken arm." She says. "Oh, okay." "Um do you have a place to stay while they fix up your campus?" "Um, yah. I'll stay with my boyfriend." She nods, "very well. You can go then, be sure to come back in two weeks." She informs, I nod and leave the room.

I get to the first floor and Ryder see's me and runs up to hug me and set a warm and lingering kiss on my lips. "Ugh, what is up with you and hospitals?!" He asks, I laugh, "that's what I was thinking." I say, he smiles and takes my hand, we both walk to the car and get in before driving to his campus.
