A Moment Of Silence 《Chapter 35》
Carmella's P.O.V [a week later]
We decided to have the funeral in San Francisco, but only because my mom always wanted to go there. Yet never got the chance when I was going there for college because she'd been very pre-occupied.
I have on a simple sweetheart top black dress and Ryder has on a black suit. I walk down a pathway and stand in front of everyone.
My mother in her coffin behind me, I have to now give the second speech since my dad already gave the first. Ryder gives me a comforting smile from the crowd and I give him one back.
"Hello family and friends, I thank you for coming out today to my mother's funeral. She and I never had the closest relationship, there were the ups and downs. But everyday I was lucky to have a mother, as I started nearing towards college I saw how she always truly cared for me. A mother's love is forever. And though it may have not seemed as so, she did love me. And was always there, she never judged me for all the boys I chased after, she just sat and waited untill the right one came along. Sometimes I wonder if I'd somehow known about her illness at a younger age and I did everything I could to help her what would've happened? I know she's in a better place right now though. And I just hope me and my dad and all my other family members get through it. Thanks and have a good day." I end my speech and make my way back to Ryder and sit by him.
He kisses my cheek, "it's okay I'm here for you." He says, people walk up and throw in roses and teddy bears and more. We walk up and throw in a flower each and then walk away.

I put two sliders on my plate and some fries, luckily my mom had good taste in food and had asked when she died to have burgers at her funeral. My lovely mom, always in love with barbeque.
I sit with my dad and Ryder at a table, my dad swats flies away from the table with his hand and Ryder scarfs his food down. "Hey dad, how have you been holding up?" I ask him, "okay, a bit lonely, but don't worry about me honey. What about you, how have you been?"
"Um pretty good. It was really horrible at first but Ryder and his band mate Erin got me through it." Ryder smiles, "so Ryder, how is the band?" My dad asks, "great. Umm we've sold now seventy I think it is albums and I heard out song on the radio recently." He says, "wow so you've got everything planned out." My dad states, "Oh speaking of, Carmella how is your cooking thing going?"
"I don't believe I'll presuing in that anymore, I want to figure something else out and find something I really love. I still have three years of college so it's okay." I tell him, he soaks all this in but let's out a sigh.
"Well as long as you have it all figured out by next year." "Yah, it's quite likely." "I'm going to get some cake." My dad says getting up, he walks off and I am left with Ryder. "How's your food, well was. How was your food?" I ask looking down at his now empty plate.
"Good, the macaroni salad has a bit to much mayonnaise though." "Ooh fun! Lots and lots of calories and saturated fat!" "Oh, shoot. Oh well already ate it." I kiss him and he smiles once I pull away, "want anything else?" "I'll have some cake to." He says, I get up and throw away our plates and get new ones I put a large slice of double chocolate Carmel cake on his plate and mine. Then sprinkle some sea salt on top, I see my dad talking to some relatives and walk away to the table and give Ryder his plate and sit down with mine.
I take a bite and then a small sip of my beverage as well. "Thanks firefly." Ryder says with a mouthful of cake, "no problem passion fruit." I say back.
