☽︎The Last Chimera☾︎

(Ayyy I missed y'all! 🥰)

...

"Tell me where you are, Lydia." Valack asked, guiding Lydia through her vision. "Tell me what you see."

Lydia treads through a river, the freezing water up to her chest as she carefully steps on the loose stones. "The bridge..."

"Keep moving. Describe what you find. Tell me what he did." Valack grabs a clean piece of gauze from the small table beside him where the trepanation drill lies. He then dabs at the bloodied wound behind Lydia's ear, making her wince from the sting. "Stay focused, Lydia."

"What did you do to me?" She asks.

"I've amplified your abilities. Something that might just save the lives of your friends. Now focus on the bridge. On Theo. Why did he let his sister die?"

"I don't know."

"You don't see it yet. Search for it, Lydia. Keep looking. Why did he let her die? What did he want?" Lydia moved a little closer to the bridge, but stopped when she felt something in front of her. A hand shot up from the icy water, gripping onto her wrist and making her scream out as a body followed. A teenaged girl stared at Lydia blankly. Her chest was ripped open, ribs cracked and exposed to reveal her missing organ.

"Her heart."Lydia frowned as she turned towards Valack. "He wanted her heart." Valack quickly grabbed a file that had been next to him, flipping through Theo's medical records to find anything that corroborated what she found out.

"There's no record of a heart condition. But a transplant would make Theo a genetic chimera like the others. The hypothermic conditions would keep the organ viable. But why him? Why choose a 10-year-old willing to kill his own sister?"

"Why do you care?"

"Because Theo was a first step in the right direction for the Dread Doctors. Think of who they are. Parascientists who have prolonged their lives and twisted the laws of nature in pursuit of one goal. The creation of the perfect killer. And now they've done it."

"But Theo doesn't know who the success is. The last chimera."

"It doesn't matter. There's a reason they chose him, a reason he failed, a reason they changed their methods and a reason they finally succeeded. It all starts with Theo." Unknown to Valack, the chimera himself was infiltrating Eichen House with his ragtag group of chimeras he resurrected. "When did you know for sure? That the Dread Doctors had succeeded?"

"Scott, Stiles, and Y/n found out that night."

"The night of the Supermoon."

"But they really didn't know it yet. There was too much going on. Liam had almost killed Scott. Y/n had been taken. Kira was still gone. Malia was trying to find The Desert Wolf."

"You were missing."

"And Sheriff Stilinski was dying..."

...

Y/n's body fell to the side, landing on the leaf-covered ground with a 'thump' as she panted. Her eyes became heavy, but she forced her them open to look at the Dread Doctors as they began to turn and walk away. "What did you do to me?" She asked weakly. The Surgeon paused to look back at her.

"We have prepared you. You will obey." The way he said it seemed like a warning, obey or else. He turned away without another word, leaving her on the forest floor as she fell into the world of unconsciousness. Voices echoed in her head, layering over themselves like a room full of people all trying to be heard. Although there were a few more prominent than the others.

Shattering glass.

"What happened out there?"

Sharpening metal.

"It'll be okay."

A woman crying.

"We'll see each other again one day."

An ear shattering roar.

Gradually the sound of someone calling her name started to drown out all of the others, becoming almost deafening over the cacophony of sounds and voices. And the louder it got, the more recognizable it became. "Y/N!"

Her glowing eyes shot open. "Lydia." She quietly gasped. Her eyes dimmed as her sight quickly adjusted to the darkness surrounding her. She pushed herself up with a grunt of effort, looking around in a slight daze and momentarily confused as to how she got there. Although it came back to her real fast, and she reached up to the back of her neck. Where the Surgeon had made an incision in her skin all she felt was smooth flesh, no sign that she had ever been cut into. Lydia suddenly called out to her again, her voice echoing in the witch's head in a cry for help. Y/n wasted no time in pushing herself to her feet and taking off in the direction her gut told her to go.

That led her to a small clearing near the Nemeton and that's where she found Lydia, laying face up in the dirt, eyes vacant as they stared at the sky. Y/n skid to her knees next to Lydia, eyes quickly skimming over her form to check for any injuries. Y/n then pulled Lydia up into her arms, acting on instinct and using her magic to put some warmth back into Lydia's freezing skin. A moment later footsteps caught her attention and she saw Jordan running up to them, dropping to his knees much like she had as he also scanned Lydia. He frowned when he saw her left hand and picked it up to examine closer. Two of her fingers were slightly bloody, her nails having been chipped and broken to reveal the nail beds. His eyes drifted to the large rock that had been above her and found a sheriff's badge carved into the stone, blood staining the surface from where Lydia had scratched at it.

"What's wrong with her?" Jordan asked, noticing the blank look in Lydia's eyes.

Y/n helplessly shook her head. "I don't really know. I just found her like this." She frowned then when her fingers found Lydia's neck, and she felt the four wounds there along her skin. Her eyes glowed without her really noticing, and suddenly Lydia's eyes found her own, almost silently calling out for help. Images flashed in Y/n's mind, images from Lydia's perspective, and what she saw troubled her. "Someone dug through her head, someone who didn't really understand what they were doing."

"We need to find Scott." Jordan suddenly said, making Y/n look up at him as her eyes dimmed. She hesitated for just a moment, his words and his cold eyes once again coming to her mind. But she pushed it away, that wasn't important right now. Things were happening and they needed their Alpha to lead the way again. Jordan had carried Lydia while he led Y/n to his car, carefully placing her in the back before they sped off to Scott's house, the first place they thought of to look for the boy. It turned out to be the only place they needed to look as they found Scott himself, lying unconscious in the hallway leading to his room.

Scott blinked himself awake after hearing Jordan and Y/n calling him. He pushed himself up to face their concerned looks. "Scott, are you okay? What happened?" Y/n asked.

Scott lightly shook his head, almost avoiding her gaze as he sat up and answered. "I'm fine, don't worry about it." He tried to assure.

"You're bleeding." Jordan pointed out the red spot on Scott's white shirt.

"It's not that bad." He denied again. "Why are you guys here?"

"We need your help."

"With what?"

"With her." They turned to show Lydia standing at the end of the hall, still with her dead eyes.

"We found her out in the woods and she was freezing. I tried to warm her up a bit." Y/n explained first.

"That wasn't even the worst part. She clawed a picture into a nearby rock with her bare hands. It was a badge. A sheriff's badge." Jordan continued as Scott got to his feet, the other two standing with him.

"No." Scott frowned as he looked at Lydia. "It's a warning."

"The Sheriff is dying." Y/n spoke aloud her own suspicions.

Scott found messages from his mom telling him about what happened to Noah, confirming what they already guessed and they rushed to the hospital, looking to also get Lydia some help. Y/n and Scott pushed the doors open while Jordan carried Lydia, calling for some medical attention. "Help! Get someone to help me. Quick." He ordered one of the staff at the front desk which triggered a flurry of action. Jordan laid Lydia on a provided bed while he informed the medical staff of what they were dealing with. "I need help. I've got an 18-year-old female, potentially hypothermic." While a doctor was checking her pupil response Jordan looked down the hallway to see Y/n and Scott getting onto the elevator. At Y/n's worried look Jordan gave her a reassuring nod, silently telling her that he would stay with Lydia to make sure she was okay.

The doors closed then, and left the two supernaturals in silence. It wasn't a comfortable silence like she had always been accustomed to with her friends, but it wasn't awkward. Just cautious, hesitant to break the water and cause any ripples. That was until she saw him wince and lean against the wall. It was then her eyes were drawn back to the concerning red spot on his shirt. "I can heal that." She offered.

Scott looked at her almost startled before it turned into confusion. "I thought you didn't have your magic any more?"

"It came back. I think the mistletoe burned out or something. The Supermoon helps, too." She felt just a little bad for not telling the complete truth, that the Dread Doctors did something to her and now her magic was back at full force and then some from what she could feel. But there was already so much happening tonight. Lives were at stake, and, from what she could tell so far, whatever happened to her wasn't life threatening. Later, when some things have calmed down and been taken care of, then she'll tell them what happened. For now, she'll keep it to herself. "Do you want me to heal you?"

He lightly shook his head. "No, I'll be fine. Save your energy." While he was worried about her using her magic so soon after she got it back, that wasn't the only reason he denied her request. At the moment he felt like he didn't deserve her kindness. After Theo's attack Scott had come to realize that nothing was as it seemed. He knew his friends better than anyone, he should have at least heard them out before assuming everything Theo said was true. But he had trusted him, everyone did even a little bit.

She opened her mouth to argue, but the elevator doors opened to the ICU unit, and with it she was hit with a sudden rush of fear, anger, and panic. And she knew exactly who it was coming from. "What do you mean 'you don't know'?" Stiles' voice filtered through the far doors at the other end of the hall as Y/n and Scott exited the elevator. "Two hours ago he was fine. Now it looks like somebody took a baseball bat to his neck."

"There could have been some minor internal-" Dr. Geyer, Liam's step-father, started to explain before Stiles cut him off again.

"Did you say 'minor internal'? When is anything internal minor?"

"Stiles." Melissa gently called, trying to help ease him just a little so the doctor could talk. Y/n and Scott got to Noah's room, and they looked through the door's window to see the man hooked up to several tubes and wires, an oxygen mask over his face and in obvious pain. Y/n frowned in sadness. She had always seen the sheriff as strong and dependable. It hurt her to see him looking so weak and helpless at the moment.

"I need to know what's going on with him, okay? Somebody needs to tell me what's happening. Somebody needs to tell me what's happening to him!" He shouted in desperation.

"We don't know." Melissa admitted after a moment.

His eyes glanced towards his father's room, doing a double take when he saw who was standing outside his door. A flicker of comfort at seeing Y/n there was soon masked by anger when he saw Scott beside her. He saw red as he walked passed Melissa and shoved open the doors leading to the hall. He instantly grabbed Scott by the jacket, shoving him into the wall and then swinging him onto the ground.

"Stiles!" Y/n shouted in shock, eyes wide as she took an involuntary step back from the suddeness of it all. Scott groaned in pain from the sudden attack and from his healing wounds while Stiles still clung to his jacket and glared down at him.

"Where were you? You trusted him. You believed him. Right, huh? So, where were you?" Stiles accused.

"Hey, hey, hey." Melissa called as she, Dr. Geyer and other staff came to break up the sudden tussle.

"Where the hell were you?" Stiles yelled as he was pulled off of the wolf.

"Stop it!" Melissa yelled. Dr. Geyer and an orderly held Stiles back while a security guard helped Scott up. Y/n stood in front of Stiles and forced him to look at her.

"Stiles, you need to calm down." She gently, but sternly, urged. His eyes darted between her and Scott.

He realized she was right and he had to cool off at least a little bit if he was going to be let go so he quickly forced himself to do so. "Okay, all right, all right." The two men let him go while he still panted in anger.

Y/n threw a concerned look to Scott who gave her a small nod as he recovered from the heated moment. "Your dad's not the only one who got hurt." Scott said once he caught his breath.

"Oh, you'll heal." Stiles swiftly dismissed.

Scott glanced down at the blood stain, quickly covering it with his jacket as Y/n shook her head at Stiles. "He wasn't talking about himself." She denied making Stiles look at her in question.

The three teens, along with Melissa and Jordan, all stood in an empty operating theatre to discuss what was happening, the first thing being what happened to Lydia. "It could be a side effect of shock." Jordan thought.

"She's catatonic." Stiles denied.

"It was Theo carelessly rummaging through her mind." Y/n said.

"Why would he do that? What is he looking for?" Melissa asked to which Scott answered.

"The same thing he's always looking for. An advantage."

"So what did he gain by trying to kill Stilinski?" Jordan asked next.

"It left me alone with Liam. Theo wanted to make sure no one would be there to stop him from killing me."

"Okay, so he gutted my dad as a distraction."

"We need to find this kid." Jordan insisted, yet Melissa was a little hesitant.

"Isn't that a little dangerous? Especially since he almost killed my kid?"

"Yeah, but he said he didn't want my dad to die."

"And you believed him?" Jordan questioned a little bewildered.

"He told me where to find him. So, maybe he also knows how to save him."

"What do you want to do? Talk to him?" Melissa wondered.

"If it saves my dad, then yeah."

"We'll go with you." Y/n said, making Scott nod in agreement.

"He doesn't know that I'm alive. Maybe that gives us an advantage."

"He'll know you're there." Stiles denied.

"I can handle that." Y/n insisted, yet Stiles just shook his head as he headed for the doors.

"I just need to talk to him. Not fight him."

"Stiles, you can't go alone." Melissa argued.

"Does anyone even know how to find him?" Jordan wondered.

"We don't have to find him. He'll come to me." Stiles claimed.

...

Stiles sat in Scott's house, perched on the steps facing the open front door. A shadow soon disrupted the sunlight pouring through and Stiles turned his eyes up towards Theo who now stood in the doorway, the tips of his shoes just two inches away from the mountain ash line Stiles had put down. Theo glanced down at the line with the ever present smirk on his face before he looked at Stiles again and proceeded to step over the barrier having no ill effect from it.

"I guess we're all telling the truth now." Theo remarked. Unknown to him Y/n and Scott stood at the top of the stairs, hidden just beyond the wall to stay out of the chimera's sight. Y/n's eyes glowed as she held a hand on the wall, using a minor spell for camoflauge to make sure Theo couldn't hear or smell them while Stiles talked to him.

Stiles reached behind him and grabbed Scott's jacket, the wolf having discarded the article as he changed out of his stained shirt, and tossed it to Theo who caught it. "You killed my best friend?"

"Let's be honest, Stiles. Was he still really your best friend?"

"Are you going to let my father die?"

"If I wanted him to die I wouldn't have told you where you can find him." Theo tossed the jacket aside.

"Then why are they saying his body is shutting down?" Stiles asked as he stood up. "That some toxin's poisoning him and they don't know how to stop it."

"I'm not the bad guy, Stiles. I'm just a realist. I'm a survivor. If you knew the things that I know-"

"Yeah, but what do you know?"

"I know what's coming. I know what the Dread Doctors created. And I know what Parrish is. Y/n figured it out thanks to Lydia. I saw it in her memories."

"Right after you drove her out of her mind."

"Collateral damage." As soon as Theo said that Scott heard a sharp inhale next to him. He looked over to see Y/n glaring through the wall, her eyes shining brighter and fingers turning pale from where she clenched at the wall, trying to keep her rush of anger in check. "But if she's right about Parrish, then things around here are gonna get a lot worse."

"I don't care."

"You should. Because if your dad does survive he's not gonna be sheriff of anything much longer."

"What's happening to him?" Without answering Theo turned to leave. "Hey, tell me!" He shouted, darting forward to grab Theo by the shirt to stop him only for Theo to turn and shove Stiles away, making him fall back and hit his head on one of the steps.

Theo made a quick exit and Y/n was the first down the stairs to get to Stiles, finding him knocked out. "Stiles?"

"Stiles!" Scott and Y/n called together, but he didn't respond right away.

Y/n gently put her hand to the back of his head, using her magic to heal him and help him wake up faster. After only a few seconds Stiles' eyes fluttered open to find Y/n's own purple irises fading back to their usual e/c. "Your eyes." Was the first thing he mumbled only for Y/n to shake her head in response.

"Are you okay?" She asked instead.

He rapidly blinked, his senses coming back to him. "Are you hurt?" Scott asked as he held a hand to help Stiles up.

"I'm fine." Stiles said, pushing Scott's hand away as he pushed himself up from the stairs.

"You blacked out."

"I'm okay. Did you get anything from him?"

"Nothing. He was calm the entire time."

"What about his heart?"

"I heard it jump, but only once, and only for a second."

"That doesn't mean he was lying."

"A jump could mean anything." Y/n said. "The rest of the time it was steady."

"When did it jump? What was I talking about?"

"It was when you said your dad was poisoned." Scott informed.

"That could mean something. A jump could mean surprise, right?"

"Yes." Y/n nodded in affirmation.

"Alright, so why would he be surprised that my dad is still dying?"

Y/n thought for a moment before something occured to her. "Stiles, did he say that he was the one who attacked your dad?"

"No." He shook his head. "Then this means it was probably someone else."

"Another chimera." Scott spoke aloud their suspicions. Without another word Stiles rushed out of the house, the other two hot on his heels. Stiles quickly jumped into the car they had borrowed from Jordan, letting Y/n climb into the passenger seat before he locked the doors, leaving Scott outside. "Stiles." Scott called after he realized what Stiles did.

"Yeah, we can do the rest ourselves." If Y/n hadn't been there, he would have just gone by himself. But she was there, and he couldn't help himself but to want her by his side as long as she was willing to be there.

"You don't even know where to start. All- all we know is that it's another chimera. Do you even know where you're headed?" Stiles started the car, still not saying anything. "Come on. Let me help. I can find the clues that you can't."

"That's why Y/n's going." Stiles pressed on the gas until Scott jumped in front of the car, forcing Stiles to brake once again.

"Stiles, we can't do this alone. We need everyone." Y/n said, trying to help Scott's case in going with.

"I can get more help. I can text Liam."

"Liam just tried to kill you." Stiles pointed out to Scott.

"Okay, then at least let me help."

"You believed him?" Stiles finally asked what had been on his mind.

"You trusted him, too. Theo got to all of us."

"You know, you don't even know the real story."

"I don't need to. All that matters right now is your dad. Come on, Stiles. We survived an Alpha pack, a dark Druid, professional assassins. We can survive Dread Doctors and chimeras, too."

Stiles looked down, his brow creasing as he just got an idea. "What is it?" Y/n asked him.

"We're not looking for a missing chimera. We're looking for a missing teenager."

They had gone to Stiles' house so they could look at the list of genetic chimera teenagers that Noah had made some weeks before and to call the station to see if there was anyone new that was suddenly missing. "There was a call a few hours ago about a sophomore from Beacon High who never came home last night." Stiles said as soon as he got off the phone, moving to stand next to Y/n and Scott in front of his murder board.

"What's their name?" Y/n asked.

"Noah Patrick." Stiles looked up at the list and quickly found his name, pointing to it for the other two.

They went to the school and found his locker, Scott using his strength to pull the lock off and grab a hoodie from inside. "Now we can catch his scent." He turned and tossed it to Malia who had started to walk up.

"Hey, thanks for coming so fast." Y/n smiled at her sister earning a little smile in return.

"You called her?" Stiles asked in slight surprise. As far as he knew, the sisters hadn't really talked to each other in a while, and he had thought something had happened between them.

"We need all the help we can get. Three noses are better than two."

"We should be calling everyone." Scott commented.

"And I know what this kid looks like." Malia added. With that settled the three teens with the enhanced sniffers made sure they got a good sample of the scent before they started to follow it. That lead them to the railway depot where Malia and Y/n took the lead heading down the tracks. "He didn't want you to call me, did he?" Malia suddnely asked curiously.

"Not just you, per se. He didn't even want to bring Scott along. We're all still a little... Strained."

"What about you and Stiles? I gave him a ride yesterday and he got nervous when I mentioned your name. Did you break up?"

"It's like I said, strained. Some things were said, some things were done. But it's nothing that can't be fixed with time."

"Are you okay?" At Y/n's questioning look at her seemingly random question, Malia elaborated. "I mean, your scent is a little different. It's back to how it was before you lost your magic, but now it seems a little more... Potent, I guess."

Y/n paused for a moment, glancing back at Scott and Stiles to make sure they were still out of ear shot. "Something happened and I got my magic back. That's all I want to say about it for now. I'm sure you understand." Y/n gave her a meaningful glance at that, and Malia kept quiet. Malia had told her about her wanting to kill the Desert Wolf, but she hadn't gone into specifics, especially about how close she was to actually confronting the woman and how she was making her way to Beacon Hills. So she didn't prod any further, because Y/n hadn't prodded her. "I just want to say, I'm ready to listen whenever you're ready to talk. And I'm not the only one."

Malia glanced back at the boys. "I know." She admitted before she ducked into a small opening in the side of the wall that lead to some tunnels. The three followed her and stopped next to her when she paused, a breeze blowing passed them and ruffling their hair. "I got it. I got his scent." She claimed before she took off with the other three hot on her heels. It wasn't long before she stopped by a pipe, a red smear catching her eyes and she lightly touched it with her fingertip to confirm it was indeed blood. "This is Noah's. He was here. I think he's close."

"Guys." Scott had taken a few steps away to look down another passage and now called the others attention. "I think we've been down tunnels like this before like when we were looking for Liam and Hayden."

"Okay, so what?" Stiles asked.

"Maybe it means we're closer than we think. Maybe there's something else down here. Something we haven't found yet."

"Yeah, nothing that helps my dad. Look, we can't just be standing around here waiting for something to-" Before he could finish his thought someone had run into him from behind, knocking into him with such force that he was thrown into a wall and knocked out.

"Stiles!" Y/n called in shock rushing to kneel beside him while Scott crouched next to them and Malia knocked down the sudden fifth party. Instinctively Y/n used her magic to heal Stiles, barely feeling the sting of the blow to his head.

"Stiles!" Scott grabbed Stiles' hand as he raised it in a daze. As he started to come back around again Scott helped him to his feet, both him and Y/n steadying Stiles on his feet. "You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." He assured. Malia growling brought their attention back to the figure desperately trying to fight against her hold.

"Just let me go, please, please." The boy, Noah, begged to the four. "They're coming."

As soon as those words left his mouth Y/n felt the telltale pricking in her fingers that signaled the presence of the Dread Doctors for the first time in weeks. Y/n turned her head in their direction. "Scott." The Alpha looked to her and followed her gaze. "They're here."

Malia loosened her grip on Noah and he pushed her hand away, jumping to his feet and making to run away until Stiles caught him by the shirt and pushed him against a wall. "You're not going anywhere."

"I said I don't remember." Noah claimed.

"You don't remember anything?"

"No. Not when it happens. Not when change."

"You clawed my dad half to death, okay, and now it's poisoning him. You're gonna start remembering every detail right now."

"Stiles, back off a little." Y/n said as she came forward to gently push the agitated boy off of the frightened chimera. Stiles only let her move him a little, still keeping his grip on Noah. "Just let me take a look." Y/n turned her gaze to Noah, her eyes starting to glow as she reached out to him. He flinched from her touch yet she continued to press her fingers to his temple. His eyes were compelled to meet hers and he relaxed just a little. The violet glow reflected in his eyes for a moment as she searched through his most recent memories. Although it wasn't much, just running, hiding, an intense fear and a few blank spaces, it was easier to do than she remembered. Her eyes finally faded back to their normal color as she let her hand fall. "It's true. He has blank spots, missing memories."

"Scott, I hear them." Malia warned.

"Yeah, I do, too." Scott turned to Stiles. "Stiles, get him out of here. Go to the hospital. Figure out a way to save your dad." He urged.

"We're not gonna be able to stop them."

"We can slow them down. Give them a head start." Y/n said, moving to stand with Scott and Malia.

"Stiles, go." Scott told once again. Stiles looked back at him, only for the Alpha to nod, and Stiles finally did as asked, taking Noah and fleeing down another tunnel. Scott suddenly winced and looked down at the ever growing red spot on his shirt, the bandages having already soaked through. The clicking and heavy footsteps grew louder until the figures of the doctors themselves rounded the corner.

Y/n glanced at Malia who was visibly anxious. "We're gonna be okay." She tried to assure.

"Y/n, we're gonna die down here." Malia argued as they got closer.

"No, we're not."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because you're not the only one we called."

"Get down." A familiar voice commanded from behind them, and they turned to see Chris Argent himself armed with a heavy duty rifle. The three supernaturals ducked to either side as Chris began to open fire on the Dread Doctors. The bullets didn't cause as much damage as he hoped as he slowly advanced, the rounds being slowed by their electromagnetic fields, but they did stagger them a little. "Run!" He ordered as soon as he was close enough to the teens, and they did as told, rushing behind him and around a corner before he slowly followed suit.

While Stiles was leading Noah away, they had come across a gate that was chained closed. Noah had managed to 'change' long enough to break through the chain, and long enough for Stiles to see that one of the bones that had protruded from the younger boy's arm had been broken. That was the answer they had been looking for. He managed to pass the information to Melissa and she in turn was able to get it to Dr. Geyer in enough time for them to operate and remove the bone that had been leaking marrow. Melissa waited behind the front desk, standing up when she saw Scott, Y/n, Malia, and Chris enter the hospital. She gave them a nod, and they breahed a sigh of relief. They did it. They saved the sheriff and so, thankfully, Stiles still has his father.

...

Theo was crouched with Hayden by his side, frowning as he touched the drops of mercury that were left behind from Noah's attempts to escape. Hayden had led him this far, being pulled by her half-werejaguar nature towards Noah who was half-berserker, and is now dead. "We could've used him." Theo spoke with bitterness to his tone.

"For what?" Hayden wondered. Theo just shook his head as he looked up, face going slack in surprise at what he saw. Hayden followed his gaze as they both stood. "What is that?" She frowned in confusion of the circles carved into the metal.

"A symbol. A symbol of an Alpha and his pack."

"Whose pack?"

"Scott's."

...

"It was more than a symbol, wasn't it?" Valack asked. "It was a promise to reunite them."

"Yes." Lydia answered.

"But has Scott done it yet? Will he be coming for you?" A buzzer went off down the hall drawing Valack's attention.

"Someone's coming. But it's not Scott."
