I let out a sigh and look out the glass door of the coffee shop. When I decided to spend a summer in Toronto, I forgot to think about how much I'd have to work in order to have money to, well, live.
The radio plays some indie music which I sing along too, twirling my hair in my right index finger. Honestly I'm feeling kind of home sick. This summer isn't all it was cracked up to be. I miss my friends and my family. Yes some of my friends are here with me but we're all working so much I barely get to see anyone.
The ringing of the door bell snaps me out of my thought. When I look up I freeze. What the fuck. I must be dreaming, there is no way Shawn Mendes just walked in here. Breathe Avery, act normal.

"Hi what can I gt you?" I say with a smile trying to not let my voice shake too much.
"Hey" he smiles and waits a brief second before ordering. "Can I get americano and a banana?" He asks. I simply nod, because if I opened my mouth I would have burst into tears. I've met Shawn three times before, but this time it was different . Not a meet and greet, not outside his hotel, in my fucking workplace.
As I'm making his coffee I pray that I don't mess it up.

"That would be $3 please"
"You're not from around here are you?" He enquirers with a slight smirk.
" no I'm from Ireland" I tell him my hands shaking as I take his coins. He nods understandingly. "You guys have great crowds over there, it's a beautiful place" he adds.
"The loudest in the world" I confirm passing him his coffee and banana. He nods and is walking out of the shop when I say slightly louder than I'd hoped, "I'm a huge fan of your music" shit Av, You were actually acting decent.
"Thanks, I appreciate it" he study's my plain black shirt for a name card. "Avery" he adds. Something about the way my names falls out his lips makes my body tingle. "Have a nice day" he smiles and goes to the door. He begins to push and I let out a laugh. "It's um , a pull door" I chuckle.
"Right" he joins in the laughter and heads out onto the busy streets of Toronto.

I can't help but let out a squeal when I know he's gone. I've literally been stanning Shawn since magcon and to have actually conversed with him brings tears to my eyes.

As the day goes on I watch the clock with pure intent waiting until it hits 5pm so I could go back to the apartment and tell my best friend Nadia what had happened.
All I can think about is him saying my name. It sounds cheesy but it just sounded so perfect how he said it.
Finally the clock reached 5 and I jolted out from behind the counter, grabbed my stuff, locked up and walked home.

"Nads, you will never believe what happened at work today" I tell her opening the door of our apartment. When I turn from hanging up my keys and coat I see a guy who I've never seen before, Nadia in his arms. "Oh um hello sorry I didn't know we were having guests" I say shooting Nadia the 'explain wtf is going on' look.

"Av, this is Blake, the guy I was telling you about" then it all clicked.
Blake and Nadia met at a club a couple weeks earlier and have gone on a couple of dates. He sounded nice and judging of his looks he seems like her type. She always liked the vintagy guys.
"Indeed" I respond putting my hand out for him to shake. "I'm Avery " I tell him while shaking his hand. "Blake" he responds quietly before returning his hand to its original position around Nadia's small waist.
"Well I better get going, I'm meant to be meeting my friends at Pizza Hut" he says grabbing his phone of our counter top.
"Alright babe, but that's a plan? For tomorrow night?" Nadia questions him with a smile.
"Course" he returns the smile. I can tell from his accent that he's British. "Hey Av, why don't you come with us to shakes tomorrow night? Blake's friends will be there so you won't be a third wheel?" Nadia suggests, Blake encouraging me with a nod.
"Sure" I reply simply grabbing a m&m of our table.
"Alright then, bye girls" Blake says leaving the apartment.

"He's just great isn't he?" Nadia says dreamily after the door had shut.
"I met shawn at work today"
