Two
A fellow shadow demon crowded into her space as he danced to the aggressive music playing.
Juniper decided to entertain him for a specific reason. After a deep breath with closed eyes, she opened the gray orbs to meet his equally gray eyes.
A sneaky smile tugged at her pouty lips, trailing her black nails over his narrow chest she rocked closer to him.
His smell almost cracked at her fake smile.
The man ate up the attention she was giving him, pressing his pale hands to her wide hips.
Her own hands roved over his chest, almost eagerly. As their chest pressed together and he couldn't see her, her face dropped into unamuesement.
Looking up to the ceiling, she groped his ass right over his back pocket. The man jumped but chuckled in her ear and returned the gesture.
Suddenly she tugged back with a demeaning smile. Juniper patted the man's stubbly cheek, before turning away.
When he reached for her again, she shot a dark glare over her shoulder and snarled lowly.
The man halted and stayed put as Juniper sauntered away.
She opened the man's wallet and glanced over the license, uninterested. Skimming the credit card information boredly, she finally gripped the 600 cash and tucked into into the bodice of her dress.
When she approached the bar, with a worried frown tugging at her lips, she batted her lashes at him.
"Someone lost their wallet," she tilted her head pitifully as she waved it in front of the bartender with two fingers.
He nodded and quickly added it with the lost and found. Sliding her a shot in appreciation for her good samaritan act, she threw it back quickly.
"Thanks babe," she winked at him before turning back to the crowd.
What was she doing before this?
Her eyes trailed over the scene in front of her, the disco ball reminding her of something.
"Ah," she nodded at the familiar color. Warren, she was finding Warren.
Tilting her head back, she inhaled deeply while trying to find his scent once again.
A little tipsy, Juniper saw her friend walking through the VIP corridor upstairs.
Without another thought, she walked to a dark corner. Pressing her hand to the nearest shadow, she watching her hand sink into the shadow as a cold sensation tickled her fingers.
Slowly she sunk her entire body into the tall shadow, stepping right out into the same hallway Warren was previously at. The nearest shadow she'd travelled through in the hallway was in another desolate corner.
"Warren," Juniper sang with low lidded eyes.
Her hound friend, who she now noticed was a little nervous jumped ten feet into the air.
He glanced at the shorter dark skinned woman, balking.
"What did I tell you about doing that shit?!" he hissed while stepping closer to her.
She opened her mouth with a disinterred look on her face.
"Don't even answer, you can't be here. I'm meeting important people-"
Between them a door opened, leading to a corridor.
Juniper rolled her head to glanced at whoever was there and grit her teeth. Her jaw crooked, a berserker demon.
Just her luck, she didn't have anything against the species. Trust her, she didn't. But being seen around them was not in her plans of laying low.
"Sean! This is my acquaintance," Warren lied through his teeth. "She was just leaving," Juniper had already turned away without acknowledging either of the men.
"She comes. You've already taken her pass the security check point. We told you, no one passes that point without meeting with the boss."
Juniper's head fell back dramatically, an annoyed sigh heaving past her glossy lips.
The berkserker, Sean, balked at the disrespect. Usually, his kind was treated like royalty amongst the civilians here.
Obviously this girl had no cares of this fact.
Warren and the girl bickered back and forth, she shoved at his chest once but soon enough he wrangled her under his shoulder and walked back with a casual smile.
She sneered openly and shoved him at least a foot away, walking in front of him as her knee high heeled boots clicked.
She walked past Sean as well, getting a few steps away of the gob smacked men.
"Are we fucking going or what?" her raspy voice husked in annoyance.
Sean forced himself back into work mode, tearing his eyes from the woman's curvy backside to begin leading the guests back.
Juniper matched the mens quick stride, eying the metal walls around them.
She debated how to proceed, Juniper was probably about to meet with men on the Berkserker Court. This means she should probably keep her mouth shut and draw as little attention as possible, not usually an issue.
Warren knew the situation, he could handle this and she could follow his lead.
But she was a little drunk and while she isn't rowdy she definitely isn't subtle.
Warren gripped her forearm to gain her attention, sliding his hand into her own to give her a reassuring squeeze.
She appreciated it but kept her face blank.
The door that was at the end of this long metal corridor, was opened.
A pleasing smell wafted to her nose and she hummed quietly. It was a savory smell, one that was comforting. Vanilla and coffee.
She furrowed her brow a little and didn't stop herself from looking around.
A dimly lit room that presented as an office was on the other side of the door. Men sat around the room, all in their own extravagant chairs.
The previous smell caught her off guard, making her mind hazy. The source of the smell was directly in front of her on the other side of the room, she didn't dare glance towards it however. Instead, her eyes widened at the sight of Seraphina sat on a Berserker's lap. Pheonix, she assumed.
The two women's eyes met, Seraphina's jaw dropped as she processed the situation.
Juniper, in a room full of Berserkers, when she was meant to avoid Berserkers.
"Juni," she gave a slow, albeit confused, smile while standing up. As Seraphina approached, arms open in a hug they both shot each other wary looks.
When Seraphina hugged her, she whispered. "What the hell is happening?"
They were well aware all of the men could still hear them no matter how quiet they talked.
Juniper only grunted in response, trying to keep all of her information close to her chest.
Seraphina gave her a reassuring smile before returning back to Pheonix. He was handsome, caramel skin with natural gray hair that was curly. He was muscular as well, dwarfing Sera's petite form.
Juniper swallowed hard as tensions rose in the room, staring hard at the floor as Warren kept a strong hold on her hand.
"Warren," a raspy voice rumbled from that far end of the room. It was a heavy voice, giving weight to every word that rumbles from the persons chest.
The demoness's breath hitched but she still refused to look up. Even the scent was overwhelming her.
The man Seraphina was sat on, Pheonix, spoke up, "I was under the impression we were meeting to discuss a new position for you. I didn't know you would be bringing company."
Warren chuckled nervously. "This is a big misunderstanding. My friend was just leaving."
"Is that right?" The same husky voice from before sounded except a lot closer than before.
Juniper crooked her jaw, nodding once and directing her gaze to the wall to her right. There was paintings hanging around them.
"Look at me when you address me."
Taking a deep breath and sighing loudly, she dragged her cloudy gray eyes up.
Juniper sucked in a breath, meeting dark brown eyes. It was like getting punched in the gut, making eye contact with him.
She could feel electricity between them, Juniper knew what these signs meant.
But for shadow demons to confirm a bond, they had to touch the potential mate. Juniper could not believe this was happening right now.
A panicked breath fell from her lips before forcing herself together.
In front of her was a behemoth of a man. Like an obnoxiously large person. He was very tanned, seemingly from latin descent. He had a mean glare on his face, his very symmetrical face that carried a sharp jaw line and structured cheek bones.
His hair was dark, almost black but at the roots she saw blood red hair peaking through the black.
"What's your name?" his stare was piercing.
Juniper weighed her options, the possibility of pissing off the group that was responsible for her safe haven didn't seem like the smartest move.
"Juniper."
He grunted quietly, her gray gaze looked over the other men in the room. There was seven total Berkserker's here. But the one in front of her seemed like the head of the group.
"You don't have a last name?" he growled impatiently.
"Monroe. Juniper Monroe, may I be excused now?" Her lips pouted as she spoke each word slowly, as if speaking to a child.
The beast openly snarled and opened his mouth to most likely bark something back at her when the entire ground shook.
It was so violent that drinks were spilled, most went stumbling.
Juniper was one, stumbling right towards the man in front of her who was unmoveable apparently.
He instinctively caught the smaller woman and they both collided into one another.
The man gripped her elbows as she braced herself on his chest. They were both wide eyed, staring at one another.
Their touches sent heat shooting through one another's bodies.
"Fuck," she hissed out breathily as the bond was confirmed and the process was triggered.
They were mates.
"Fuck," he echoed in a snarl under his breath.
They were frozen in time, until another demon steadied himself.
"Raphael!" her mate looked up at the call. Raphael, she echoed to herself.
"It's a hell hound out on the floor," Sean shouted as he ran out to the commotion.
Juniper pulled away, their eyes never breaking contact. When another shake rumbled the ground, Juniper whipped around in annoyance.
This was all too much happening at once.
"Fuck this," She grunted and stomped out. The berserker men were all surprised and Seraphina trotted after her friend in heels.
"Juni! Let the others in the Court handle it!"
Warren rubbed his face as Juniper sneered openly.
"Well?" Juniper rose her brows expectantly back into the room, waving towards the commotion. More so focused on her apparent mate.
Raphael snarled. This woman was insufferable.
Raphael straightened his jacket with a glare, passing the woman and striding down the hallway.
He braced his hands on the bannister as he looked down at a male hell hound tearing up his club.
Juniper was besides him, her hair cascading over the banister as she leaned to look around with steely eyes. The two glanced at one another, before darting their eyes back downstairs.
The hound making the ruckus made eye contact with Raphael as he felt the others approach from behind him.
"You! The Saint!" Hound yelled at Raphael who glared down at the pest.
"This is a message from the Order of Elements! We reject your constant separation from society and demand access to the Island!"
"Who let this fuck in?" The wood underneath Raphael's grip snapped.
Raphael didn't allow anyone time to respond, taking a step back before leaping off of the two story balcony.
Juniper's eyes widened and she hurried to look down and see. The berserker brushed his clothes off as he was completely unphased. He strode towards the hell hound.
"Stay back! I'll blow this place to bits!" The hound stumbled back.
"Stay here!" Other berkserkers instructed Juniper and Seraphina.
Warren gave them a stern look before running downstairs with them.
Juniper could barely keep up at this point, there was too much going on. She rest her elbow on the ledge, propping her head up on her hand.
Seraphina's eyes widened, "Shouldn't we... like hide?" she whispered.
Juniper shrugged but otherwise continued watching.
Raphael had almost cornered the hound. But surprisingly, he was a powerful fire wielder. His flames were large and reached large heights.
Finally getting tired of it, Raphael began walking through the wave of flames shot at him.
Juniper's eyes widened a little. She knew berserkers were fire resistant but Raphael seemed fire proof, completely unbothered by the heat.
Gripping the hounds fist, Raphael brought his elbow down on his arm- snapping it in half clean.
The hound screamed in agony and Juniper smirked. In a last ditch effort, the hound reached his last good hand and sent flames flying wildly.
One large one went racing towards the balcony.
Juniper's shoulders fell. Just her luck.
The demoness gripped Seraphina and dove to the ground, the flames exploded the entire balcony.
A crack echoed through the deafening silence of the club.
"Get off of there!" A voice that was rapidly becoming familiar bellowed from below.
Juniper's eyes widened when the floor beneath them crumbled.
"Fuck me!" Juniper cried out as she turned her body towards the ground, taking the brunt of the fall as she held Seraphina close.
They fell with a thud, the breath from Juniper's lungs were knocked out as Seraphina landed on top of her.
Sera rolled off of her as they tumbled and in the distance the hound was quickly taken down. The Court of Berkserkers came to the womens aid.
A large body blocked the dim light from the club lights.
Juniper scrunched her face together as her eyes seemed glued shut, she hit her head hard on the way down.
A large hand patted her cheek somewhat harshly. Juniper slapped the hand away with a glare, peeling her gray eyes open.
Raphael looked down at her, an unreadable expression on his face.
Juniper laid back, completely exhausted as she peaked at Seraphina who was being comforted by Phoenix.
Rolling over, Juniper faced away from everyone on all fours as she fixed her dress with a grunt.
"Today sucks," she mumbled to herself.
Those damn hands, that were sending shock waves through her body, gripped her shoulders roughly to stand her up.
She gasped quietly as one calloused hand gripped her cheeks, smushing her lips together.
Holding her bleeding head, she blinked the blood out of her eye to look up at the handsome berserker.
He inhaled deeply as he stared down at her, tilting her face up so much so that she was almost on her toes.
His dark gaze was twisting her insides around, his other hand wiping the blood from her eye and brow. The two were silent as he did so.
Her slender hands gripped the wrist of the hand holding her cheeks, Raphael felt a shiver go up her spine at the touch.
He moved her face around to examine her for more injuries.
Suddenly Warren crowded into her space, practically ushering Raphael out. Juniper huffed to herself at the fact.
"Let's get you cleaned up," her friend nodded towards the exit.
"Juni!" Seraphina cried out and hugged her tightly.
"You're such a good friend!" Sera cried softly into her shoulder.
Juniper hummed and patted the shorter girls back.
Over her shoulder, Juniper looked back at Raphael who was staring intently at her.
"I want the three of you at the manor, tomorrow at six."
Juniper's eyes widened at his request, opening her mouth quickly. Seraphina's hand covered it abruptly.
"We'll be there, Mr. Saint," the nymph nodded respectfully.
"We've got to get her out of here, I'd be happy to have our conversation tomorrow during dinner," Warren looked over the Court.
Raphael nodded once. Leaving Juniper with one last parting glance, before turning and heading in the opposite direction.
