Sixteen
It was a new week and Juniper was glaring at Raphael as she sat on his couch.
"You never mentioned this chick was a witch!" she yelled at him with a stubborn frown.
"An oracle! Barely even a witch!" The woman who ratted her out to her coven was considered an oracle as well.
Juniper huffed and laid on the couch, staring at the ceiling and ignoring Raphael.
"Juniper I've known this woman my entire life, she'd never betray me. She knows it's a death sentence. I wouldn't take you if it was an issue," he stressed the last sentence to her as he stood over her.
She turned to face the cushion away from him.
Raphael groaned and looped an arm around her waist. She squealed at the unfamiliar contact as he dragged her stiff body out so he could see her.
She was draped across his lap and he gripped her cheek, facing her chin towards him.
Juniper glared at him.
"I'm not going to ask about the stupid vision, she has information on covens. That's all, we're going with the other berserkers so she can't do anything to hurt you."
Juniper scoffed, "You'll be there I'm not worried about getting hurt."
Something about that sentence sent pride coursing through him, a low growl rumbled from his chest.
Her eyes widened a little at what she said and she shoved her hand in his face, turning it away from her.
"You have an hour, then I want to leave."
He nodded, taking the bargain since he was lucky she compromised at all.
Her head rest in his lap and she was still obviously not happy with their agreement.
"And I want to go to the beach with Seraphina."
His hand was resting beneath her head, his other strewn along the back of the couch.
"With supervision from Phoenix or myself."
She was surprised he agreed to that, "...And I want to get a cat."
"No."
"Then I don't want to meet your stupid oracle."
"Juniper," he snarled irritatedly.
"Fine!"

Juniper was in athletic shorts and a white tight cropped top as Raphael drove behind Phoenix, Zane, and Felix.
Raphael handed her sunglasses as they approached a hut.
"Remember to keep these on, if you don't have them on avoid her eyes or she'll get a vision." This oracle could see a persons future simple by looking then in the eye, even more nerve racking for Juniper.
She was quieter than usual, well she was always sort of quiet. But rather than their brooding silence, she had a worried air around her. Obviously uncomfortable.
He reached over and pat her thigh gently, Juniper jumped a little out of her thoughts.
She turned to him and crooked her jaw but gripped his hand just as he pulled it away.
Juniper held it tightly, despite loathing the fact that he could sense she was off put by this trip.
He stopped the car as they arrived but he made no move to leave, "We need answers. Stay behind me, nothing will happen alright?"
She looked up at him while nibbling on her lip, "Alright."
Phoenix had ended up opening the door for her, she thanked him and felt Raphael grip her hand once he was out himself.
They all wore sunglasses, there was even a sign on the shop door recommending them be worn inside.
The three berserkers walked behind them, eyes open and alert as Raphael lead Juniper inside.
"Mr. Saint!" A voice of an older woman exclaimed with a tired smile from another room. The shop had a bunch of old things used in spells or incantations. The scent of dust and paper tickled Juniper's nose, she snorted quietly.
The voice came from a back room accessible from behind a glass counter.
"I thought you'd be here sooner, I had an itch you'd be arriving. And I see you brought the calvary," an old white woman walked in. She was small with gray hair, her face looked kind but Juniper was still on edge.
"And I see you've brought your lady friend, I thought you were settling down next year?"
Raphael rose a brow, "No. This year apparently."
"Is the Order still giving you issues?" The woman asked.
"Yes unfortunately. This is Juniper, Juniper this is Clarice."
"Oh yes I know! The last female berserker! Well- hybrid at least," the old woman giggled.
Time stopped for a moment, one of the two things she'd been keeping from Raphael for good reason was revealed in front of his group.
Juniper's face fell as she felt like her breath had been knocked out of her. She felt Raphael tense besides and the air grew stifling.
Her eyes fell shut as Raph took his hand away from her, running a hand down his jaw as he glared at his mate.
"You'll handle this?" Raphael grit to teeth together at Phoenix. His friend's eyes were widened but he nodded once before Raph stormed out.
"Raph," Juniper choked out as she followed him.
She went to grip his wrist but he tore it out of her grasp, sneering at her.
"That's another detail you left out, huh?" he spat.
She shoved herself in front of him and watched his eyes narrow down at her, shoving himself away. He pinched the bridge of his nose as his body thrummed with anger and his mind raced.
"Is it true?" his tone was steely and his eyes were blazing.
Juniper took deep breaths as she felt exposed. She wanted to do this on her terms.
"Yes."
"Fuck!"
"I wanted to tell you when I was ready! I told you I didn't want to go, I should've-" she cut herself off with a frustrated groan.
"Were you just going to keep this from me?" he snarled. Raphael was pacing angrily in front of her as her eyes watered despite herself. She wiped at her face.
"Not for long," she growled lowly. "It's more complicated than me just letting you know about it. This-This is an entire can of worms Raphael," she waved her arms in annoyance.
"Talk to me!" He barked at her, "Make me fucking understand!"
She saw Zane and Felix from the window, painfully aware that they were listening to what was happening.
"Right now?" she hissed quietly.
"I'm not leaving without answers."
She stared at him in disbelief that he is making her do this here.
"My mom was part berserker. It was a coincidence, she wasn't even aware of it. Like a second cousin or some shit. My father was a full blooded berserker, they fucked and by the smallest chance on the planet here I am," Juniper sneered as she put a good amount of distance between them.
"She died in childbirth because her body wasn't meant to birth berserkers. It was a waste if you ask me," she wiped her nose and her face. "I didn't tell you because I was waiting until I was more comfortable with you asshole. It might have changed things."
"You're right. It does change things," Raphael snarled. "For one, you could get pregnant by me Juniper! That's- Thats insane!" He was ready to tear his hair out.
"If someone were to find that out you'd be on the top of everyone's list..." he trailed off.
Things began to click in place in his mind.
He suddenly was storming towards her, Juniper stumbled back towards the car.
He snatched her wrist and tugged her closer, she shoved at his chest.
"What was that vision about?" his voice was so deep and his eyes were darkening that it almost made Juniper nervous.
"Let me go," she grit. "Let me go!" Juniper finally shoved him off after her let her go.
"Fuck you! I told you I'd tell you when I felt comfortable!"
Her breaths came out shaky as she tried to keep her composure. Raphael panted as she crouched down on the balls of her feet, wiping at her face while avoiding looking him.
"Give me the keys," she croaked quietly.
"What?"
"Give me the keys so I can go home," she stood back up and wiped at her cheeks.
"No I-!"
"Give me the keys or I'm walking home, Saint."
He groaned lowly in frustration before holding out the keys for her. When she went to grab them he pulled them away.
"You don't have to leave right now Juniper..." he swallowed hard as he stared down at her intently.
"No. I'm upset and you're upset, I don't want to be here. I'm leaving," she whispered before grabbing the keys quickly and turning to the car without another look.
"Fuck!" Raphael launched his fist into the nearest tree. A crack sounded and he grunted in annoyance as the thick tree fell in the opposite direction.
Stomping back inside, he glared at Clarice.
"If I had know you were going to throw a temper tantrum, I wouldn't have said anything," Clarice shrugged.
"Did she give us the information on what type of magic to look out for?" he ignored her and turned his attention to Phoenix.
"Yeah man but can we talk for a sec-"
"No," Raphael snapped.
For a moment, he considered having Clarice view his future. But sucking in a breath he decided against it.
"Clarice do you sense any new magic users on the island?"
The old woman hummed, "No. No one that you don't employ anyways. I did notice a spike of energy one night, the night of the storm actually. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it may have been."
Raphael narrowed his eyes in thought, "Thank you for the information. I'll be in touch."
He grabbed the keys to Phoenix's car and didn't wait for the others to follow him.
Clarice yelled after him, "Come back to me when the ending begins!" Her convoluted words hung over him.
When they were all in, Raphael started the car but didn't move. He rest his elbow against the window and rubbed his brow.
Felix decided to speak up, "Are you alright?"
"Am I in the wrong for being upset?"
Zane shook his head, "No, that's a huge bomb to get dropped on someone."
"You handled it like an ass though," Phoenix butted in.
"I excepted them to fist fight, to be honest," Zane half joked.
Raphael sneered and started the car.
